Rose Chérie

Upon spraying it first, my mind noted excitedly "now THIS is a proper rose perfume!". The opening carries a blast of powderiness which shimmers out rather quicky to make way for this blooming, fresh rose, one with thick velvety petals and an aroma that is almost narcotic. Then there are the candied violets and a touch of fruity sweetness - at first it registers as raspberry but then I swear it turns into really ripe cherries instead. The cherries wink out for a bit leaving me confused but the composition pulls my attention back to the gorgeous rose. The overall effect is soft yet rounded out by notes of tonka and vanilla together with a light musk. I can't really say the base smelled almondy to me but blame my skin chemistry for that. For the first 1-2 hours Rose Chérie is this floral masterpiece with rose at its front and centre. It's giving silk sheets, poise and elegance (none of those things are exactly me but it smells so divine that it lets me play pretend and kudos to any perfume that empowers one so). The powderiness makes a return after those initial hours, the composition turns more musky and, oh hello, the cherry is back! And so it goes. For the next 10 hours, with an impressive sillage and projection to the very end. Musky, powdery rose with a distinct cherry note. I immediately ordered a larger decant after the first full day wear test and started plotting how to get my hands on a full bottle of this masterpiece. It's definitely not a perfume I'd use daily but I want it as my secret weapon.

I will review the original but I must add a personal note about the dupe. Another reviewer has the Arabian dupe, rose as rose by fragrance world/Maison Alhambra. I too have that dupe after testing Rose Cherie and heading straight to my local Arab perfume counter looking for a match. I think it's almost spot on, I think few people would notice a difference and compared to my tester of Rose Cherie, rose as rose lasted longer and had better sillage! I don't get the burnt tyre note that she experienced at all, but that said, the guy who runs the shop said it's a big hit or miss with people so maybe something in people's skin chemistry? But definitely worth a test because if you can save some money, why not? The original, not overly floral or powdery, to the point where it smells "dry". It's powdery but still fresh, reminds me of fresh Turkish delight and the violet isn't synthetic smelling. The violet comes out heavy on me and I love that it's quite balanced with the rose and isn't just one or the other. Lasts long enough, would get you through a work day easily. I find that it becomes more muted and softer as the day goes on, and the violet becomes slightly stronger than the rose towards the end of the day. Not my usual taste, as I enjoy spicy, smokey, foodie gourmands, and floral powdery scents I usually stay very clear of, but I do enjoy this a lot.

I am so in love with this perfume!! This on me, dries down to a gorgeous almond, vanilla powdery Rose. I do not like overly sweet vanilla floral perfumes such as Lancôme La Vie est Belle or Diors Blooming Bouquet or 2021 version of Miss Dior. Rose Cherie is not overly sugary sweet like those tend to be to my nose. This fragrance feels so feminine and elegant and delicate. I do wish the price wasn’t so high! I have never smelled French Kiss, but I have Lipstick Rose and I much prefer Rose Cherie as it is more soft and delicate and not so harsh. UPDATE: This is now my HG fragrance! I have fallen even more in love with this fragrance since getting a full bottle. It’s like a rose macaroon covered in powder. Its so delicate and beautiful. I actually do not find it Similar to Lipstick Rose by FM. Lipstick Rose is harsh and difficult for me to wear. To me, Rose Cherie is cuddly and feminine and so gorgeous. The tonka bean gives it a sweet Almond scent, that when mixed with the powdery rose and Violet, triggers 90s childhood memories as it is reminiscent of Scented My Little Ponies and scented dolls but in the best way as certainly doesn’t smell cheap! This beauty is perfect to me!

This is a cool-pink lipstick fantasy, maybe you are dressing up and drifting off into a dreamworld, whereas Lipstick On is red lipstick, empowering and prepping for a real night of activity. I'm not a big fan of Lipstick Rose which I find a bit suffocating. I still prefer above all Paestum Rose (discontinued) which was the most complex of all of the above and perhaps somewhere in between Rose Cherie and Lipstick On. This is another one imho that would benefit from a different name as I don't think of Cherie at all when I smell this. I would call it Ingénue Rose. Cherie to me evokes something different, so I think people may initially not like this since the expectations had been set for a different fragrance. I think if you do have any of the above, then Rose Cherie will still be a fine addition because none of these are really a good substitute for the others. I would not have picked it out for myself, but found a really good deal on the discovery set which included this. Will definitely hold onto this beauty.

This perfume is absolutely phenomenal! Feminine and oh so beautiful, exactly what I would imagine a princess wearing. The powdery rose, violet, and heliotrope are gorgeous! Out of my collection of well over 500 fragrances, this is tied for first place with Iris Pallida. It's so well blended and high quality. It smells elegant and expensive, but soft and delicate at the same time. Scent 10/10 Longevity 8/10 on my skin Sillage 7/10 on my skin For those who love this fragrance but don't want to pay a huge amount of money for it, try Fragrance World Pose as Rose. I have both fragrances and Pose as Rose (which I wear to work) is almost identical to Rose Cherie (which I save for special occasions). Obviously, the quality isn't exactly the same, but it's probably 95% identical. Although I own and wear both, I honestly don't know that I could tell you which was which in a blind test. I get lots of compliments on both! Scent 9.5/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 8-9/10

If you want to smell like a pampered princess, buy Rose Cherie. It is bright, powdery, and lightly infused with a sweet raspberry note. But don’t let the term powdery deter you. This is one of the only rose fragrances my relatives have not likened to an old lady. It's somewhat retro yet modern, subtle yet playful, and highly romantic. I chose it for the violet note. However, it's not a candied violet. The violet, in addition to the heliotrope, is just there to give that baby powder effect. And the rose isn't too rosy as in to say that all the floral notes really come together and I wouldn’t smell this thinking it's a rose scent but a pleasant floral in general. I am not getting any almond from this, but then again I have no idea what that would smell like in a fragrance. I feel this succeeded where insolence failed. Insolence smells like straight deodorant to me. This just smells like a clean, pretty, flirty girl. That's the best way I can describe it.

Rose Chérie, so aptly named! A darling, delightful scent, I adore her so much I purchased the large bottle as it is a better value per ounce. Lipstick Rose is a favorite scent of mine, and Rose Chérie is her younger sister. After receiving a large sample with another Guerlain purchase, I fell in love but debated on whether or not to invest in Rose Chérie because the two are quite similar indeed, with Rose Chérie having more of a cherry note to Lipstick Rose's raspberry. I also debated between Rose Chérie and Chanel's new Comète which has a strong cherry blossom note. I found Rose Chérie to be longer lasting than Comète and with larger projection, which made it an easy choice... All day I am enveloped within its enchanting delight! Thrilled to have this beautiful fragrance in my collection!! P.S. Inspired by Gabrielle Langley's beautiful review below, I now envision this to be the scent of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker! :)

Wow, finally! For me this perfume sets the end of the era of Wasser perfumes in Guerlain. For last 5 years I literally stopped checking what the new at Guerlain stand -- anyhow the only thing to expect was the mass market cheap synthetic stuff that you forget the second you move 2 steps further from their stand. The only exception when I went purposefully to a Guerlain boutique in 2018 was to buy "Quand vient la pluie" (not Wasser's creation of course, from their heritage line). I accidentally tried Rose Chérie -- woum, this is really one of the best feminine scent I smelled over past two years. For me it is a potent version of The Virigin Violet of Gucci (I like violets and green natural scents a lot). I basically returned the next day to buy the entire bottle. Who would believed this, happy that finally Guerlain goes back to its legacy for quality products. Waiting for Sous le Vent to come back now.

DT953 is right - this is pungent stuff but swoon worthy from afar. Smelling from a distance there is sweet honey and violet, followed with a floral brightness that must come from Bulgarian rose absolute... really lovely. However when sniffing up-close the classic "stuffy violet powder" accord takes over and all I could think of was "Nooo too much of a good thing!!!". The heliotrope note is subtle and provides the slightest nuttiness, but I won't call this a predominant cherry/almond scent. This is more rose, honey and violet to my nose. I can see this work well if I spray very little or have it layered with something grounding and dry to contrast that violet sweetness. Santal Pao Rosa from the same line seems to work; I put the two blotters side by side and have gotten the most lovely strong/soft concoction.

It grew on me. On my 4th try, I really love it. This opens with aldehydic, pink rose water and equal parts sweet cherry. The base is an ethereal nutty almond, all dusted in the most finely milled powder. Dead giveaway that this is an elegant Guerlain. This is delightfully restrained, never veering into being overly sweet. The woman who wears this is adorable and playful while classy and put together. I would enjoy this in all weather, though it’s probably best in Spring, Summer and Fall. Solid performance with ~6 hours of longevity. Projection is good (for my personal preference) for ~2. This can be overcome with over-spraying, which I don’t believe would cause any offense given its airy quality. One thumb up, and the other on my phone trying to get a FB!

Imagine a Princess. She's perfectly dressed, looking all pretty, prim and proper. Well, this is what she's wearing. A beautiful powdery rose, with hints of marzipan almond, and although not listed in the notes, a tinge of raspberry. Soft, delicate and girly. Classic , timeless , ageless. Great performance all around. Stunning, and I just can't put it down, it's an absolute love. And yes, it is a lighter version of French Kiss. Oh, and if said Princess were out on a date, she would be wearing The only one 2 by Dolce & Gabbana. No, not a 1:1 dupe but it could certainly be a flanker. A fruitier, sexier flanker. So if the price for this is an issue and that sounds like your cup of tea, definitely check it out. They're both beautiful in their own right.

Oh my gosh! I got a sample of this with an order recently, and shoved it aside. I tested it today, and just one small spray and it is gorgeous. It is a very delicate wet rose with a cherry almond faintly dancing around the rose. There is a bit of soft lightly dusted powder also. I can see me getting a FB soon, perhaps I shall ask for this for Christmas. I love it! I am not one who loves rose fragrances. I never found one that I love. UNTIL NOW! Oh do sample this, it so delicate and it lasts 4 hours on me so far, and that was one tiny spray. Ps, and btw, I do own, but haven't used for years, French Kiss, and while I liked it and kept, I do not remember loving it as fondly. (side note: Lost Cherry and me did not play well at all)

This scent is all rose and powder. Very reminiscent of the scent of a lipstick. It reminds me of a slightly more intense (and more rose) version of MMM Lipstick On, but less intense and more tolerable than Delina (for reference I really liked lipstick on but despise delina due to how intense and nostril-burning it is). Not sure that I would want to purchase this fragrance but I do like it, very feminine. Edit: It's been a mere 2 hours but I had to come back and edit my review. I like it more after it's been on my skin for approx 3 hours. Very powdery but not like baby powder. And sweet, just pleasant, like a warm fluffy pink cloud. This will be my next Guerlain purchase for sure.

This is a really happy and joyful perfume. It does give me a bit of cough syrup vibes, but somehow they are not awful but almost sophisticated. It also reminds me of that baby pink gooey highway rest stop soap haha, but I try to shove that association out of my mind because I really do love this. Lovely, girly but yet not too youthful, very uplifting rose cherry fragrance that just makes me so happy when I smell it. The dry down is creamy and beautiful. It is such a mood boosting perfume. You can't help but feel happy when you wear it! I had it on my "maybe" list but now it's on my FB wish list.

I'm surprised I like this beauty. I don't like powdery violet scents at all, but there's something about this one. I went to the Guerlain boutique and sprayed it on my hand, wasn't sure about it and left the store. Kept getting delicate whiffs, brightened me up immediately. So smooth ,cuddly and calming, my boyfriend also liked it very much. It's true that it's sweet at first, but the sweetness goes away in a few minutes, just like some already mentioned a fluffy powdered macaroon. Longevity is really good, I washed my hands like 5 times and it still was there. Beautiful.

I’ve been wearing my sample of Rose Chérie far more than I’d like to admit, and I’m honestly a bit fuming about the price. Rose Chérie feels like a playful rose with a soft, dessert-like quality that makes it dangerously addictive. I strongly suspect the almond is responsible. There’s a subtle marzipan-like sweetness woven through the composition, smooth and airy rather than heavy. The result is powdery, elegant, and undeniably delicious, with a charming confectionary twist. Financially irresponsible, olfactorily delightful. How infuriating it is to love this.

I think I found the one till death do us apart, and she’s absolutely delicious but gdam she’s expensive But I want to say worth the price tag because she’s unique, that whole clean florals vibe with a dash of almond and powder chefs kiss and she lasts at least 6-8 hours on skin on clothes I’ve smelled this for days on my unwashed clothes. You don’t need too many spritzes so will last a good while. Will definitely repurchase she’s gonna need a separate savings account bcuz holy moly my 200ml bottle left a dent

I received a sample of Rose Chérie with a Guerlain order. This is just gorgeous and ethereal! The opening is pink roses and what must be raspberry. There’s definitely a fruity aspect to it along with some violet. The dry down is a delicate (but not weak) sweet and powdery rose. I would happily smell like this for the rest of my life. A bottle of this has gone straight to the top of my wishlist. I don’t know how this compares to French Kiss as I never had the opportunity to try it.

Rose Cherie was love at first sniff. This fragrance has Guerlain quality with a youthful, yet elegant presence. It has a light, airy rose with a raspberry touch. I was on the fence about buying this for myself as I do consider it unisex like the rest of the art and material collection. As I spent more time with it I decided it was a little too feminine for me, but I did purchase a bottle for my wife. This fragrance had to part of my life. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Romance captured in a fragrance. This powdery rose, lifted by hints of almond and violet, is simply sublime! It’s the scent one imagines when gazing at an illustration of old Paris - romantic, elegant, and brushed in shades of pink. Rose Chérie is a couple strolling down rue Crémieux in Montmartre or sharing a kiss on the Pont Alexandre III under the golden light of dusk. It’s the most lovely and romantic journey back in time. What a pity the price is so high...

A wonderful romantic perfume of powdery rose. I am seldom a rose scent lover but this one is a love for me. Very milky, powdery, mild, lovable and lingering blend. Admittably not a modern type of perfume but rather a classy, conservative scent. Very feminine. Update 22.11.26 - have been wearing it for the past few days and find the performance a bit below average. Generally lasting for only a couple of hours. But still a love for me on the overall.

A very generous Fragrantica member sent me a package with tons of rose fragrance decants and this was one of them. I love this! It’s almost too powdery but thankfully it doesn’t become too much on my skin. The rose is beautiful in this as well. I will absolutely treasure this 5ml decant and use it sparingly cause it looks like I won’t ever be able to own a FB of my own. I’m so freaking grateful for the generosity I’ve been shown in this community!

This is absolutely stunning - I can't believe I have only just had the pleasure of spritzing it. So bright and vibrant, fun and youthful but in the most elegant way. Roses undoubtedly lead the way, but violet cheers it on. The addition of heliotrope brings a gradual eruption of white flowers, softened with powder, and there’s a sherbet-like tang behind every note. I was mesmerised by this, and it went straight to my favourites list

I tested a sample and have been swoon by this fragrance ever since. Have been looking for a beautiful rose-forward scent and I think this may be it. It is like a pastel pink to me with a bit of purple and lace. Feminine, sophisticated yet also not too shy in committing to a strong, long-lasting rose as its backbone, hence, to me, also quite romantic. The price is steep but I think I'm gonna treat myself to a full bottle soon :)

How is not bitter almond listed in the notes? The opening of this is heavy on the bitter almond, it smells almost like amaretto. With time it turns into this fresh rose that is sweet, but not overwhelming. It smells surprisingly clean, very girly. But there definitely IS bitter almond in the beginning, you can't convince me this is just roses and violets and musk!!! Very modern for something from Guerlain and I LOVE it.

Beautiful. I am a violet enthusiast but I don’t care for Insolence EDP. IMO, This satisfies my violet craving. Yes, I get the powdery rose but, Rose Cherie is very well blended and there are no sharp edges. I wish the sillage was more Prominent but all in all, I love it. It is Pricey but it is a pretty fragrance and some are not going to like this next statement.... It layers beautifully with L’Instant Magic.

A beautifully fragrant, photorealistic, fresh, young, blushing pink rosy rose. Dry down veers slightly vintage as violet enters, sweetly powdering rose ever so delicately. But this tender rose maintains her vernal attributes; the powder matures her just enough to keep her from becoming either too girly or too geriatric. This elegant DNA is unmistakably legacy Guerlain. Very French, very feminine, très chic.

I bought this, sold it, and literally just bought it again. Thankfully (or not thankfully) I saved two small decants before I sold it and re-tried. Don’t be stupid like me. It’s so beautiful. Fluffy sweet rose and almond and cherry. So girly. I do understand the cough drop talk, but in the best way. I can’t recall anything niche or designer quite like this (never smelt French Kiss).

Well, this was a blind buy and I'm hoping it will grow on me. I don't smell roses I smell violets- I'd say a stronger Meteorites but not an Insolence (thank goodness). Bottle beautiful and I had it personalised. 4 hours on it's softened and less harsh so we may become better friends. However violet dominant fragrance.

This is a beautiful, youthful scent. Sugary rose/violet. It's like a candy but not too sweet. Good longevity, moderate projection, it lasts all day on clothes. I've tested all of the new bottles in L'art et la Matière by Guerlain and this one and Neroli Outrenoir are my favorite.

The scent of a rich girl, spoiled, careless... the opening is all about pink powdery roses mixed with violets and a hint of heliotrope in the background. Tonka bean gives depth in the drydown. So well blended and lingers beautifully on the skin. High class!

It is my favorite fragrance of floral-gourmand. It's similar to keiko mecheri's loukhoum, but if you want to choose a little more wearable one, it's this! Pink roses and sweet vanilla are mixed in fine sugar powder. It is a masterpiece by Delphine Jelk.

Top notes: powdery, candy, sweet (very well blended) middle notes: baby lotion, powdery and sweet fruitiness still there. florals begin here. Base notes: straight up a powdery baby lotion now Great skin scent honestly. 9/10.

OMG I'm in heaven! Rose Cherie is just beautiful. Candied powdery rose & violet. This fragrance is definitely signature worthy. It's very expensive but totally worth it. I can't wait to splurge on it.

Just got this! I was in Saks a week ago and left with Chanel sycamore. The wonderful sales rep Gave me a sample. It’s fantastic. I went back two weeks later for a full bottle.

A perfume for Aphrodite herself, a love letter to a lady, full of gentleness and whimsy, sparkling eyes and full smile, she's wise and chooses this happiness. I admire her.

Masterful stuff from Guerlain, as usual.

Rose Chérie is a sweet, gourmand rose, very feminine and youthful, yet elegant. It is not dissimilar to French Kiss, a long-discontinued mid-noughties release from Guerlain, of which I have a sample. RC is more gourmand and less fruity than its lipstick-y sister, thanks to its prominent almond note, but both are similarly themed. French Kiss is the superior scent in my opinion however. RC is rose-dominant from initial spray, jammy and sweet. The sweetness is enhanced by a nice powdery vanilla note that manages not to be too syrupy, but still makes it quite girlish. As it develops, it veers towards lipstick territory thanks to the powdery violet note. I adore this scent profile, and RC is quite a nice example of it. The almond-like heliotrope follows, and is quite prominent, bringing to mind marzipan. Alongside the vanilla that imbues this scent with sweetness, it smells like an expensive rose-flavoured pastry of some description. It becomes increasingly powdery as it dries down, becoming sweetly musky as it fades. The rose lingers, but it becomes a little too sweet in its later stages and wears a bit thin, taking from the overall scent somewhat. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A (very) feminine, year-round scent, RC is sweet yet airy, balanced and good-quality, but is ultimately a little too sweet for my liking. Its runs out of steam somewhat during the drydown, and it is expensive for what it is. Still, overall it is pretty decent - light-hearted and youthful, yet perfectly wearable beyond the age of 25. Refined sweetness by way of rose. 3.5/5.

Fruity lipstick rose and violet powder. Rose Chérie opens up with a charming, raspberry-infused accord of sheer lipstick and quickly turns into a powdery cloud of purple florals and rose. Violet is dewy and powdery at the same time here, and I think there might also be some iris in this, even though it's not listed. Heliotrope adds a cherry-like effect that amps up the fruity tone of the rose. This feels quite typical for Guerlain, there is something about it that immediately makes clear which house it belongs to. I think the powdery notes in this are remiscent of their Météorites powder pearls. Later in the drydown tonka bean anchors the scent into a sweet, warm base. All in all it's a very feminine, pink, frilly and flowery kind of scent that evokes images of a vintage vanity table full of powder puffs, ball pump perfume atomizers and lace accessories, next to a bouquet of light-colored roses. It's not quite my style, but definitely pretty. This is similar to the French Kiss from the old Les Elixirs Charnels collection, but I'm not sure if they're exactly the same. I remember French Kiss to be sweeter, more playful and girly than Rose Chérie, with a gourmand undertone I can't find here. It's been years since I smelled it though, and I won't be able to retest it anytime soon, so don't take my word for it.

Rose Chérie Guerlain (Store test) Last Friday, it was my first time testing this fragrance. So youthful, So young, this would be a smell of a sweet womanly teen’s smile. The british girl on big maison. Stay in her big room, observe the world via large window in 18th century, if any slumdog would fall in love with any high-society woman, this would be it. Rose Cherie is soft floral -powdery fragrance. The beautiful dew rose that sit in sweet powdery note similar to Jasmine Bonher, but somehow even more youth. Like, I can’t explain how pink, how bright, how young from this fragrance, you gotta try sniff. I am 30+ grown male, I do love rose in general, I don’t mind woman offering at all but this strong Rose-Tonka Powder experience.. would and should be reserved for woman, especially younger demographic. I don’t dare to touch. Other similar good offering would be Feve Gourmand, slightly more unisex - grown up. I enjoy La Colle Noire even Rose Des Vents. But.. I can’t image I would wear this such a delicate and gentle perfume.. As scent : 9/10 It just not my guerlain...

This is youthful sister (daughter) to vintagey Frédéric Malle Lipstick Rose and the softer sister to sophisticated Chanel Misia. This fragrance is so soft and delicate without sharp edges. Sweet but not cloying. If you find Insolence to be too much, too chemical, too sharp then try this one. Rose Chérie doesn’t have the syrupy sweetness of the raspberry in French Kiss. This reminds me more of raspberry macaron probably because of the almond nuance from the heliotrope. Drydown goes less floral and more gourmand as the Tonka gets more prominent, similar to the drydown of Maison Margiela Lipstick On. Moderate projection and longevity. The only con for me is the price. There’s 500sar mark-up since the bottle design change. Wonder if Guerlain will reformulate Gourmand Coquin and Iris Ganache (that is if Iris Torréfié is not their reinterpretation of Iris Ganache) like French Kiss. 🤔 Edit: I forgot to add that this is sharper on paper with more rose than violet. Must test on skin.

Pure, powdery, refined, and rose ROSE ROSE!!️ Starts with a blast of very light and powdery rose with a slight raspberry sweetness in the background. As it dries the rose becomes more lush and full as the heliotrope powder fully overtakes the raspberry sweetness. A beautiful slight warm sweetness from what I assume is the tonka and clean white musk forms the lovely backbone of this fragrance. A timeless rose that anyone can wear at any age. This I love but voted like because I don't think I could pull this off. IT is amazing though, it smells like super natural smelling rose scented lipstick. Can be a signature scent for a woman 25/30+ but leans formal for anyone younger. Any season but leans a bit more day time to me. Would love to smell this on my girlfriend. 9/10 but not for me.

An almondy, honeyed, hay-like rose with a dose of powder. That initial impression makes sense as soon as you see the note list includes heliotrope, tonka and violet, and it feels like an even blend of these notes. On blotter Rose Chérie is a little unnatural, too powdery and high-pitched, but on skin oh that heliotrope-tonka is lovely and deep and not at all screechy, softening the violet to create a blooming honeyed rose scent. Solidly floral, this is a very pretty rethinking of the old powder-rose standard. It's definitely worth sampling
