Shalimar Souffle de Parfum 2016

Ultimate Love. Started from like and evolved quickly to top 3. Unfortunately I can’t wear original Shalimar as that one is pure burned rubber on my skin in the first 2-3 hours, but this Souffle is a pure joy. It is slightly sweet, slightly citrusy, slighty powdery, vanilla is of course the beautiful one that only Guerlain can do. The notes are blended perfectly to one. It is rich, deep yet not cloying or heavy. I tested 2016 on one wrist and the normal 2014 blue bottle on the other. They are almost identical, however I sensed a little, subtle difference. 2014 opens a bit more fresh, light, citrusy and liked that better. But an hour later 2016 became slightly better than 2014, richer, deeper, sweeter. Again, really just little bit, if you don’t compare them that closely, they are the same.

Is this really a reformulation with its own page? As far as I can tell this is the same scent as the original Souffle de Parfum, just re-released in a new bottle. Probably doesn't need its own page...

The same divine fragrance, i.e. Shalimar Souffle de Parfum launched in 2014, in a new bottle (ltd ed). I just love it!

In the shop they told me that it's brand new, but they could be wrong. Anyway, it'a nice modern interpretation, both fresh and sweet. Nothing spectacular but balanced and elegant. ***

Sad to see that there are many less than positive reviews of this Shalimar souffle. The Ode a la Vanille range receives much better reviews and scores. They just don't come in this gorgeous blue bottle. Shame. If you don't mind not getting this bottle, check out the other Shalimar frags first. From experience, the Ode de Vanille Sur la route de Mexique (with a added smoky note) is stunning and performs wonderfully! I adore the fragrance. (Score of 4.57 as opposed to this at 3.65) It's rare to see Guerlain mess something up like they have done here (from what most reviews indicate) with Shalimar souffle.
