Spiritueuse Double Vanille

Deliciously rich boozy gourmand opening. Warms up on the skin and radiates a sweet yet sophisticated vanilla which projects across the room. A beautiful delicate smokey incense and amber develops although it stays very close to the skin, which in one way invites you to smell your skin time and time again, but I wish the projection was smokier. My husband is adamant that it just smells like expensive cocoa butter, and that it's too sweet to be sexy, but that's just the main opening. If this was a touch darker on the incense it would be pure sex in a bottle! I personally find it a beautiful and comforting winter scent, and I'm now officially obsessed with it. It's grown up, sophisticated, womanly and inviting. The drydown is heavenly smokey amber vanilla, and of the kind you wake up the next morning still smelling your wrist and swooning. I was hoping for this to be sexy black velvet cocktail dress territory, but I think it's more luxurious cashmere sweater, ski lodge, sex by the fire vibe. Undeniably great quality. LOVE!

I've always adored vanilla and booze centered fragrances. I've been on the hunt for the most authentic and rich vanilla I could find. I thought Nishane Ani was just about the best vanilla I had smelled, until I sampled this. The vanilla in Ani almost smells synthetic compared to this. This smells like photo realistic vanilla beans. I only get a faint hint of the booze on my skin, but I get an overload of beautiful rich creamy vanilla. This stuff projects like an absolute monster off my skin. 1 spray from my sample on the back my hand and I was getting strong wafts for hours on end! Needless to say, after sampling, I immediately ordered a 200ml from Guerlain. Wow they are tripping with the price increases, but $360 for 100ml, or $550 for 200ml. The choice is obvious, unless you want to throw away even more money. If you can afford this, it is so worth it!

SDV is highly reviewed and extremely well-liked in the industry, so I don’t have too much to add. I’ll just say this: it is one of my favorite fragrances for the fall and winter; it is one of my favorite Guerlain fragrances; it is among my most worn fragrances; and it is among my favorite vanilla fragrances. The sweetness is complimented by boozy, ambery, spicy and woody facets, giving the vanilla a slightly dark and smoky character, while still maintaining a sweet and sensual side. I love SDV! It is delicious, intoxicating and addictive! A true masterpiece from Guerlain!

If I were to judge this by looking at the notes, think I wouldn’t like it but I love it. It’s a beautiful vanilla and I want a whole bottle of it. Not a sweet vanilla but a more realistic and mature vanilla. ❤️

I smell too much tobacco. I'm glad I purchased a decant only.
