Vetiver Parfum

A few points that must be addressed, in order: Comparison to Guerlain Vetiver EDT: as others have said, this new fragrance has less of a distinctive character – the ‘gulp of fresh, cold water’ that becomes by turns grassy, dry and earthy, is not present here, nor is the bite of notes like lemon, bergamot, neroli, and coriander in their citric-herbal brightness... Another way to convey this is to say that the impression of a ‘gardener fresh the lawn with tobacco in his pocket in the first hours of dawn’ (to paraphrase Jean-Paul Guerlain) is subdued here. The classical construction of the EDT is more dynamic: a hint of ‘barbershop’ mentholated astringency giving way to airy vetiver (with the faintest whiff of discreet smokiness) extended by floral and herbal impressions, given texture by black pepper and nutmeg, and finally grounded (and subtly warmed) by tobacco and tonka bean, along with the faintest hum of that ‘guerlainade accord’ – a delicate blend of sweetness and polished, woody smoothness comprised (depending on who you talk to) of notes like orris, sandalwood, white flowers and amber. Comparison to Guerlain Vetiver Extreme: the now-discontinued ‘Extreme’ flanker was, contrary to its name, rather mild and dry, a variation rather than an amplification; impressions of licorice, tarragon and a controlled incense accord conjured an impression of sweetness and warmth that never became especially syrupy. The new Parfum does move more decisively toward sweetness, with a suggestion of liquor (per, to draw on one final comparison from the house of Guerlain, Thierry Wasser’s Guerlain Homme with its rum-infused ‘mojito accord’) without ever developing a boozy humidity we might associate with the fashion for alcoholic accords in contemporary perfumery. The parfum also radiates much more in its initial application, and for a good while after, unlike the surprising tameness of the ‘Extreme’ EDT. In its own right: Guerlain Vetiver Parfum is, as others have said, somewhat linear compared to its cousins... The natural materials supply a greenness in the first hour that is richly articulated but transitions rather quickly into an aromatic blend that is softly homogenous, mobile, and persistent. Though it will obviously appeal to those that already enjoy vetiver-based fragrances, there is a warmth and sweetness here that, especially in the sillage, are broadly appealing. Though the textural qualities of vetiver as a material are thoroughly assertive for the first two or three hours, they are always expressed within a blanket of resinous sweetness that relaxes its woodier edges. The notion of a gin-like effect (juniper – orris – licorice) is an acceptable conceit, though it’s a supporting rather than definitive effect in the transition from head to heart.. One comparison that should be added to this list is Dior’s Eau Sauvage Parfum, first released in 2012 using myrrh as a major ingredient, and later (2017) reconceived using a more balanced apportioning of elemi resin. The strategy used for Guerlain Vetiver Parfum is taken straight from Dior’s playbook: communicate the broad strokes of the original composition in a lower register, adding an ‘oriental’ accent of sweet, smoky resin in place of more ‘classical’ citrus and floral elements. I’m surprised this doesn’t get mentioned more, but I expect the reason is that the pyramid of notes as published here on Fragrantica does not acknowledge elemi resin though it is almost certainly here. In the Dior composition, the effect is a bit more dynamic, probably due to the overlap of the sweet, dense resin with Eau Sauvage’s signature use of hedione (a radiant, citric-jasmine facet) that, when it appears in the heart, creates an effect that is memorably intoxicating. Vetiver Parfum keeps things simpler and more linear; as with their EDT iterations, Guerlain Vetiver was always more soothingly and sanely pleasant in comparison to the Dior, which was prettier and, despite its ‘discreet and fresh’* profile, was also, being ‘virile, lucid and willful’* more demanding, and at times almost distractingly beautiful. [*per Dior’s advertising copy – a bit much but not wrong.] Final (for now) analysis: Vetiver Parfum’s uniqueness lies in its minimalistic combination of green, earthy warmth and unexpected translucence. It wears easily and, despite offering no decisive moment of glory, quickly becomes habit forming and loveable in a paternal, domestic kind of way, albeit as translated through the sensibility of a nice upscale boutique hotel... My wife (who has great taste and is a bit more inclined towards the contemporary than I am) took to it immediately. While I’ve had my doubts about it, it has readily become a habitual morning reach as a warm under-layer to fight the bleary-eyed, soggy slog of January in the Pacific Northwest. Vetiver Parfum does not reinvent the wheel, but it does manage to insert itself comfortably into the canon, feel contemporary, and also work in an unpretentious, well-constructed way. I would offer without cynicism that this is not such an easy feat, and should be appreciated on its own merits. Recommended <3. UPDATE: wearing this into a warm spring, I am developing genuine affection for it where previously my sentiments were closer to 'objective respect.' I think it was less suitable to winter owing to its translucent, close-wearing character. Warmer temperatures brings more of the 'green' and textured (smoky/peppery) facets out of the vetiver, leaving the liquorice isolated as something to be appreciated in the sillage. I notice a slightly mentholated quality in the opening that is consistent with the original and complements the liquorice note very well. I still think the original Guerlain Vetiver has a quality of contradiction (a bright, tangy sunlit sourness in contrast to the dry vetiver/tobacco blend) that makes it truly addictive, whereas this Parfum is something more straightforward -- friendly, durable, easygoing monochromatic quality -- that I reach for on hot days because it holds on longer that the EDT. I often top it up with a pocket atomizer of the EDT -- they layer very well. So again, we have an affable family member that offers what it promises but doesn't reinvent the wheel, but why should it? The wheel was genius already.

Guerlain Vetiver Parfum (GVP) Q&A How was GVP obtained and used? A 3 ml sample that was 1 of 6 samples selected ala carte w/ 3 Hermes, 1 Hugo Boss and 1 Davidoff. Used it a bit over a dozen times over 2.5 months. What is my short opinion of GVP? It is awesome for one who wants some, but not too much sweetness in their fragrance. Of all my samples in 2025, including the afore mentioned litter; this was the top dog. What about the Smoke note in GVP? Yes, Smoke in fragrances can be difficult to pull off because it can produce a strong response; good & bad. Those that expressed negative perceptions of this Smoke note are all legitimate; those are personal perceptions. For me, Guerlain delivered the Smoke note wonderfully; comes out more in the base in a whispery way; magical. I almost wish the Smoke note was more intense; then again, no - it is good as is. What about the Licorice note in GVP? I do not care to eat Licorice. I do not dislike it. I just do not seek it out. With that background, I was pleasantly surprised that I liked the Licorice note in GVP. The Licorice is a supporting note that adds an interesting interaction with the other notes. The Licorice note in GVP is akin to the cowbell in "The Reaper" by BOC; so glad it was there. What about the other notes in GVP? Juniper is dominant in the opening providing a juicy freshness. I did NOT get a gin note from it. Tonka Bean comes off a tad strong note for me; it takes over in the middle and fades in the base. Coriander was not detectable by me; just part of the spicy mix I guess. Vetiver came out more in the base, though I wanted more of it. How does GVP compare to Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (DESP)? GVP & DESP have overlapping use cases; but they have distinctive note profiles so as to not be redundant. DESP has the better opening with Citron; do note my bias as I am fan of the Citron note. GVP has a slightly better middle and a much better base IMO. The Myrrh and Elemi of DESP are good. I just prefer that Smoky Vetiver w/ Licorice of GVP. When might GVP be worn vs DESP? At a wedding ceremony, I'd go with DESP. At the reception, I'd go with GVP. Both could work for either event; if forced to pick one: it would be GVP.

I'll try to describe the differences I'm getting between Vetiver Parfum 2024 batch and the other 2 versions I own: Vetiver EDT 2018 ("listerine" bottle) - The opening is much brighter and uplifting with the citruses in the top. Diffusion is much stronger throughout the live of the perfume. Much more complex scent and evolution on skin. The tobacco leaf and oakmoss in the base really add to the magic of this original masterpiece version. If I would be asked to choose just one, it would be this. Vetiver Extreme 2018 ("listerine" bottle) - After the herbal zing of artemisia and tarragon on first seconds after applying, the opening feels sportier, crisp and a bit barbershopey like a fine shaving cream. Then it gets very smokey on late heart and drydown phases. Personally I get very small (to no) resemblance to the 2024 Parfum (apart from the vetiver note this is constructed very differently). Vetiver Parfum 2024 - Without the citruses up top, this goes into rooty / aromatic vetiver straight from the beginning. You do get a little freshness from the juniper berries and coriander I presume but it is short lived. From mid to base the perfume gets into gorgeously smoooth - creamy - vetiver and a bit of licorice, accompanied by a natural smelling and not overly sweet tonka in the drydown. The Perfume is much linear in development and behaves like a perfume - in that it stays closer to the skin but you get pleasant whiffs all day. It is more "personal" than both the Vetiver EDT and Extreme which are both livelier. But it has great depth and class / sophistication. In conclusion - I love them all! and IMO it is not redundant at all to own all versions if you love vetiver.

I fell in love with vetiver from a sample I got (of "Ex vetiver" by Juliette has a gun) - So I knew I had either buy that or find a better version - and find one I did. I tried both this and the Vetiver fragrance by Carven in the store - and this won for me. Even though they're both great, the Carven one is more "clean" and bright (even slightly bitter?) - while Guerlain's version is darker and deeper and has a very significant "brown" (smoky? spicy? even briney/salty? ) note that pulls everything "down" for me - and balances off the greenness so nicely. I gave a last whiff of the Juliette "Ex Vetiver" sample I have - and it's a lot more "clinical" (not in an unpleasant way, just different : sterile, cold, blue-ish) while the Guerlain one feels more alive, natural, warm, earthy, brown. People are saying this is "sweet" but to my nose it is quite neutral in that regard (i.e. not sweet enough for me to label it as such, but not bitter/sharp/etc. at all either). It feels like it's on the verge of being citrus-y but without crossing that line. Elicits mental images of a gin and tonic with a large & cool slice of cucumber, being sipped in a luxurious wooden cabin bar, with a large window overlooking a waterfall outside. For me this feels an oddly addictive smell (bordering on sensuous) despite being on the "fresh" side of fragrances. its balance and subtlety make it versatile : it could work in casual as well as workplace settings. The only thing worrying me is the performance, but I'm usually a bad judge of that. The store didn't have the EDT so I couldn't compare it to that, but I tend to prefer EDP / Parfum anyhow.

Vetiver Parfum | Guerlain The opening has an earthy root sensation along with the natural almond-like scent of vetiver. You can also sense a slightly moist tobacco note, though subtle. Juniper brings an aroma similar to gin, not alcoholic, but aromatic and cold, akin to pine. In the opening, these three notes prevail: earthy almond vetiver, cold aromatic juniper, and traces of cigar tobacco. The opening is ephemeral and dissipates quickly. Soon, a green and citrus facet of vetiver emerges, very similar to lemongrass. The earthy almond note loses strength, and the vetiver begins to take on citrus and green contours. There is also a subtly floral neroli note that brings comfort and a clean, white sensation to the composition. For 3-4 hours, it is a green citrus vetiver, with a slight floral neroli and a soapy musk. In the drydown, the green citrus vetiver is still present but gains sweet contours, a liqueur-like texture (licorice), and vanilla and creamy tonka bean tones. Here, it's my favorite part. This green citrus vetiver with the liqueur-like licorice texture and vanilla tones is simply amazing. This perfume has maintained the structure of the EDT very well and, in my opinion, is quite similar. However, it is more modern, much denser, and of higher quality. A perfume that starts fresh, citrus, and aromatic, and after a while, gains creamy and liqueur-like vanilla contours, always with an emphasis on vetiver! Very interesting! Most prominent notes: Vetiver, Neroli, Citrus, Licorice, Tonka Bean, Tobacco, Juniper, White Musk. Longevity > Eternal. Projection > Moderate. 9/10

I feel like this was made for me. As someone who's favorite perfume and signature scent is Guerlain Vetiver EDT, all I can is WOW - this is some GOOD stuff... I had been wanting something similar to Guerlain Vetiver EDT but more suited to winter/elegant/formal/nighttime wear. I just couldn't get down with Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum and it's "root beer" or "cola" note. I sprayed one spray of each Vetiver Parfum and Vetiver EDT on each forearm before coming to work. I've perspired a good bit and five hours later - the Parfum version is still going strong wheras the EDT is fading. The Parfum still has that unmistakable Vetiver EDT magic, but it's much denser/heavier. It should be noted that the Parfum does lack the EDT's top-end "zing" of freshness. The Parfum is also, as others have pointed out, more modern. It smells sophisticated but unlike the EDT I don't think people who smell it will immediately think "grandpa", which some do with the EDT. Perhaps that's the tonka or licorice giving it that contemporary feel. I'm so happy to have finally found this. I'll still use EDT year-round (office, running errands, golfing, watching sports with the boys, happy hour, etc.) and break out the Parfum for things like cool weather (though it can be used in the right context in warm weather), winter holidays, evenings, formal wear, date nights, or anytime you want a little more "oomph". A++ Guerlain has done it again! **Edited to add: It definitely has that unmistakable "Guerlainaide" DNA, especially in the drydown!

This is my first Guerlain since... 2008 or so, so it's been a while. Got my bottle, pop pop first sprays and... I thought I got a fake bottle... I check it, all checks up, most trusted seller and I am... perplexed. How can people say this is great?! I sprayed some more and 1 hr later... finally! After the diabet inducing frags I've been using recently, I forgot what earthy, nature and vetiver smells like. My bad. This is something that is part of what makes Guerlain some of the best perfume houses around. This is not for clubbing, parties or even a compliment getter. This is a refined vetiver, very well done, blended well and for a more mature audience and scenarios. I love it, yes with a suit, with a well fitted outfit... it fits! Ha ha hi hi Guerlain I hsve missed you. Now onto purchasing a bottle of LIP and see more... of their goodies. I am not disappointed, on the contrary, I am amazed and finally: something different. We can't smell all day like bubblegum and vanilla infused ballz frapuccino boba sugary stuff... as one dude said it well here. This does not resemble TdH or EN, or even TF Vetiver. It is an original and well blended composition. Long lasting and refined. Thank you Guerlain, for this and for taking care if the bees! Much Respect goes to Guerlain.

Sampling Guerlain Vetiver Parfum, a 2024 flanker of the original 1959 EDT, which itself has been updated a handful of times, as best I can tell, and I have one of the non-square bottles of the EDT from some years ago as a basis of comparison. Unsurprisingly, Parfum is a bit denser and darker than the EDT, with an opening that’s noticeably less bright and fresh, with more emphasis on smoky and earthy tones, while also being a bit smoother than the EDT. I do not regard it as especially inventive on its own, just a variant of the original Vetiver and one that’s quite sophisticated, wearable yet bold, a nice entry in the world of vetivers, somewhere between the ashiness of Lalique Encre Noire and the fresher entries like Vetiver EDT or Roja’s several creations. Retail pricing for Vetiver Parfum is $185 for 100ml, similar to Habit Rouge Parfum, and I find that to be a very good deal in the current market, given the quality, performance, and styling (I’m a fan of the current era of square-faced bottles for Guerlain men’s fragrances), though it’s also available via discounters. Overall, I think it’s very good, comparable in quality to the EDT but fittingly denser character. 8 out of 10

STOP! You came to the review page because you have either smelled this one or you are curious about this crazy looking green goo. If you want a quick review to know if it's good or not, I will apologize in advance this is not a fragrance that can be judged simply by "a good or not". I will not hide my opinion, this is my favourite designer fragrance release of 2024. I can best describe the scent profile as a spicy green with some playful earthy-ness. The opening seems fresh and clean, almost simple, but evolves. The longer the scent remains on your skin the spicier it gets, the dry-down is where the magic happens. It dries-down into a spicy intriguing green extravaganza. It's complex but not cloying, it's sexy yet versatile. That being said, this will be your reaction if you like this scent profile; so I do see this fragrance can be polarising and not everyone's cup of tea. It's certainly unique and worth a little exploration. Final notes: Definitely don't blind buy this; The sillage is about arms length in the first two hours; it lasts about 6-7 hours on my skin and about 10 hours on my clothes.

Have no expectations. Unburden yourself, for a time, from the weighty reputation of this proud and powerful line. Meet Guerlain Vetiver Parfum where it is and relish its fullness. It is not a bomb, nor is it rough, nor is it sweet. It is a well-executed modern construction with tremendous versatility. It is a refined and sober companion with a pulsating heart. From a distance, it is good company well met; up close, you sense the darkness in its soul - challenges met and foes vanquished at cost. Applied lightly, it retains a subtle playfulness that joins together air and green earth; laid on more heavily, it conveys strength and solidity of roots in the ground. Serious but not somber, classy but unrestricted, engaging but with respect. It does not care what you expect it to be. It knows exactly what it is and cannot pretend to be otherwise. It is a fantastic scent for those who may feel the same.

My dad’s signature scent has always been the original Vetiver EDT by Guerlain—it’s the smell of my childhood memories with him, of his hugs, of presence and stability. I’ve always loved it for what it represents, but I never wanted to smell exactly like him. This Parfum version gives me that same emotional connection without mirroring him. It’s deeper, calmer, less daytime and less energetic than the original, but it feels more sensual, more romantic, more zen and more me. It trades old-school masculinity for a softer, more gender-neutral elegance. I barely notice the smoke—just the quiet earthiness of vetiver, like warm skin after a sunset breeze. It’s the kind of scent I’d wear to dinner or drinks on a summer night that finally cools down, wearing a black linen shirt open just enough to feel free.

Guerlain Vetiver EDT is one of my all time favorites. This takes the fragrance into a more dark smoky / earthy direction. The EDT is an all year round fragrance with its uplifting citrusy opening and hay-like clean tobacco in the dry-down. The vetiver here is not green anymore as in the original. Here it turned very dark and much closer to Chanel’s Sycomore and Encre Noire A L’Eaxtreme. It pays tribute to the discontinued Vetiver Extreme but with less emphasis on the Licorice. The Original EDT takes you through phases from bright fresh to green woody. The Parfum version starts completely darker and then replicates the EDT in the far dry-down. If you like vetiver fragrances it’s not redundant to have both of them as they start from opposing points and only meet after a long time.

My favorite note in all of perfumery is specifically Guerlain's vetiver. I have every iteration, formula and flanker I can get my hands on. The current EDT is my favorite and most used scent, by far. So... I do love this, bc it features that vetiver note. It's far more similar to Vetiver Extreme, if you know that one, than it is to the edt. Compared to the EDT, it's less bold, softened out, more modern. The licorice is beautiful and prominent, the tonka is heavy in the base - making it more mass appealing - and it all works together well. In the light of all fragrances, this is 5 stars - lovely, rich, well blended, featuring that amazing guerlain vetiver note. Only when evaluated against the EDT - which again is my all time, no questions #1 - is it just a little disappointing.

This fragrance enters the picture dirty, moves through a narrative of smoke, and lingers on a clean note. About an hour in, and lasting until about 3 hours in, it reminds me of a study filled with leatherbound books that have been exposed to years worth of uncured tobacco smoke. The dry down is soft, powdery, and very, very green. Throughout the entire experience, the licorice pulls thru heavily. All this said, the longevity of Vetiver Parfum is not to be trifled with. It is a very versatile scent evolution, though. I could see this working well on its own and worn with high masculine fashion, and I could see it paired with patchouli oil on one's pulse points and worn with hemp and tattered linen. It feels like new growth in an old forest.

Personally I prefer this to the EDT. The EDT is a classic but for my own tastes it's too classic, as in - it smells like something someone older than me would wear. It has the vibe of an older gentleman with good taste - a bit more smoky woodiness and a general brighter vibe. The Parfum flanker is much more Vetiver heavy and is overall just denser. I don't really buy that this is less wearable or more for special occasions in the way some people have said - it is very similar to the EDT so it can't be that specialised. It's just if you want something that feels a bit more like a modern green Vetiver than the classic one. To me it smells very similar to Creed's Original Vetiver but without the soapy note or the absurd price tag.

If you like the original (OG) or even if you just think it's 'okay,' you need to try this! Honestly, I have the Vetiver EDT in the new bottle, and for me, it felt a little too vintage and was just a 'good fresh' scent, which was a bit disappointing. But, man, this one is a banger! It reminds me a lot of the OG but is much better and more modern, with more depth and an addictive quality. The big change here is that the EDT is fresher and the Parfum is warmer. The citrus opening is missing here, but to be honest, it is not a 'miss'... the juniper "gin tonic" berry works really well to keep it fresh. It is a must-have for any vetiver lover, and you can find it for less than $100 at discounters.

Last weekend I visited Paris and went to the Guerlain boutique on Champs-Élysées. Since I've almost finished my Vetiver edt I tried both the current edt parfum. I ended up buying the parfum (also because my gf liked it better ;)). To me the scent is very similar and I love them both, but the parfum seems to have a somewhat softer profile. On paper the parfum seemed to be a bit more dense than the edt. The performance is great on me. I wore it on my neck and under my shirt and could smell it all day. Under my shirt also the next day. I will have to wear it more to be able to form a better opinion on it, but so far I'm very happy with it!

I have previously reviewed this parfum, and I stand by what I said before; Guerlain’s Vetiver Parfum is the greatest, or within the top three greatest Vetiver perfumes ever made. The opening is the only part of this fragrance that I don’t absolutely love, but I still very much enjoy it. It opens up very citrus zesty and lemon grass heavy (not listed) and that isn’t the most appealing thing for a lot of people. 30 minutes after you apply it, the rest of the fragrance stays the same; earthy and smoky, tangy and licorice-heavy, spicy (coriander) and undoubtedly masculine. If you love Vetiver, there is nothing to dislike about this scent.

This is a vetiver masterpiece. I've always been a fan of guerlain vetiver, vetiver extreme, and other niche and designer vetivers. Scents like Sultan vetiver by nishane, lunar vetiver by amouroud, these are regular wears and loves. Yes, I've sampled creed original vetiver, roja vetiver parfum cologne. Both very good. This is the best vetiver fragrance I've smelled and worn. Period. It's the original guerlain vetiver, richer and more modernized, but still retains the soul. Instantly recognizable. But, it has a lightly sweet boozy warmth that contrasts the green spice. Still clean and fresh, but more. Wow.

Guerlain’s Vetiver Parfum reimagines their timeless EDT with a brooding and refined aura. Compared to the original EDT, Vetiver Parfum is darker, smokier, and more resinous. It’s less about cleanliness and more about richness and warmth. I have both, and while the original is refreshing and citrusy, this Parfum version delves into a darker, richer, and woodier side of vetiver—more sensual, smoky, and mature. It lasts 8 to 10 hours, longer on clothes. Sillage leaves a pleasant, smoky trail. This is a real gem. It’s not your everyday scent, though—it’s more of an occasion or mood piece.

Guerlain knows how to make fragrances 🐐🐐 aromatic sweet licorice and vetiver with an inviting smoke lingering in the background. Juniper berries give it a refreshing tartness in the opening before the more herbal and smoky vetiver begins to really shine. 10 hours+ longevity with moderate projection, which is perfect for a scent like this. The whole room will not smell you, but you will leave a gorgeous and alluring scent trail that will genuinely have people losing their minds trying to figure out what the scent is. 9.8/10 (need to like vetiver obviously)

A darker, more brooding reinterpretation of the original EdT. Citrus is noticeable right after application, but it soon yields to a damp, green vetiver. After a while I start to pick up juniper berries, after which underlying sweetness (tonka?) becomes more prominent. This formulation is less diffusive than the EdT and stays very close to the skin, but it has rather good tenacity. My only wish is that the “moldy cellar” phase lasted longer—it is the most intriguing part of this perfume. The drydown, while pleasant, feels a bit generic to my taste.

gorgeous dark smoky vetiver scent that definitely takes a slightly different step from the EDT, way less fresher a lot more woody/grassy with a more subtle sweetness to it. Personally I was hoping this was just a stronger version of the original but this is good in its own right and honestly is not redundant to own both! For me I prefer the EDT because of the way the tobacco mixes with the vetiver insanely good but that is absent in the Parfum and honestly is not that much stronger, got maybe 4-5 hours total

This does sound a bnit like the old 'Extrême', which did have a more pronounced liquorice note, but I imagine it's a little different as well (the juniper surprises me.) For the record, Extrême was not, in my experience, more extreme at alll in terms of puissance or pungency -- really just a dry interpretation of existing accords (and less citrus forward than the EDT, which made it less appealing to me.) I am curious to try this though, and will, and will update once the weather turns fair.

Vetiver Parfum starts with less lemon-citrusy than edt version, which also less similar to lemongrass. It goes straight into the earthy-dark vetiver notes with just a little bit sweet-spicy of licorice and a smoky-woody in the background. The smoke in this one is neither potent nor obvious. It blends very well into the dry-earthy of the vetiver. Vetiver Parfum is a versatile choice of Vetiver notes from Guerlain, but it is still a little bit more mature than the EDT.

More or less a rehash of Vetiver Extreme in parfum concentration, which makes this a thicker, creamier and smoother blend. Parfum follows the same ideology of Vetiver Extreme, which essentially, is just the original Guerlain Vetiver but modernized, regal, and more elegant. The main notes to my nose are vetiver, licorice, pepper, vanilla (not listed) and tonka. Not much smoke, nor is it dark, its overall sweeter, albeit perfectly balanced, and superbly done.

This is my signature scent. A rich deep vetiver that works for any occasion. I’ve loved vetiver growing up and Vetiver Parfum by Guerlain became my go to as I got older. It fits perfectly with my lifestyle and the hot weather I live in all year round. I use it for everyday wear and when I’m dressed up. It’s refined versatile always feels right and consistently gets compliments. A true all rounder and a solid 10 out of 10. I’ll always keep a bottle of this.

I have owned the edt in the past. And recently sampled the new parfum version which i find similar but more modernised and i like it. the tobacco is toned down compared to the edt. and the gin and liqorice add some sweet boozy quality. once this dries down it is a nice clean vetiver with a touch of tobacco. not like the EDT which has way more tobacco which i can't stand. for me this is a much better perfume this is on my to buy list now.

I really like the EDT but I think I prefer the parfum slightly more. I think what separates it from the EDT is that the EDT is mossier and the vetiver is a little subdued (but still prominent). It does have some similarity with grey vetiver but isn't as dry. And there's a brightness like it has citruses but I don't see any listed so maybe it's the juniper. Overall this is a great signature worthy scent that's pretty versatile.

In the first phase I clearly recognise the vetiver EDT enhanced with both a liquor touch from the juniper and a sweet touch from the licorice. The combined effect is fresh, grassy and spicy. In the base there is a sweet, warm, green smell that eventually takes over in the drydown and is really beautiful. This structure reminds me of Fougere Royale by Houbigant: going from fresh and spicy to sweet and warm. I like it a lot!

Fantastic release and by far my favorite of the "Parfurms" released by Guerlain last year. Juniper and licorice notes are very pronounced here and what really makes this special in my opinion. A well balanced and grown up fragrance. Update: The more I wear this, the more I love it. What a complex and amazing scent, might very well be the best fragrances for men released this decade. A true masterpiece.

i love it, it takes elements of the original vetiver edt with the high quality vetiver note in it and a gin infused tobacco-like note and also takes elements from something like profumum roma's audace with the vetiver, tonka and liqourice combo but at a 1/3 of the price. amazing quality perfumery for a relatively low cost, only thing that bothers me is the projection which is very low.

Anything vetiver and I’m in, but this could quite possibly be vetiver taken to its highest level. There’s a rounded, youthful maturity to this which makes it modern compared to the OG. In short, it’s lovely! Don’t expect beast mode (I loathe that term), rather a sexy trail others won’t quite be able to pinpoint. Nothing wrong in that as you waft your way to fresh, green heaven.

Love this frag. Reminds me of Coty Aspen (one of my all time favs - save the crappy longevity). It's super fresh and green. I wish they would have made it less smoky - but it doesn't bother me that much. It's definitely pricey. I think it's long lasting - I do like 4-5 sprays and it lasts a good part of the day on my skin. I prefer wearing this warm weather and in the day.

Greatest vetiver fragrance of all time. Top 5 in my collection of 200+. Delphine Jelk May be the greatest perfumer of all time. This masterpiece is so good, I bought two bottles of it and I rarely do that because it’s hard for me to get through even one bottle with the size of my collection. This is peak. 10/10

I love this perfume so much that I bought it right away after smelling it for the first time last year. Now that it’s spring again, I’ve been wearing this like crazyyyy. I’m halfway through the bottle already, and have used probably 20ml in the last month. Wild stuff, I’ll always have this in my collection

I have tried Edt (modern formulation). It was very strong and very old school. This one is toned down version. If you want to smell manly, and earthy, grassy, green, then you must try this Edit: The longevity is very weak. I live in dry atmosphere. But its too weak. You need to apply at 7 sprays

A darker, more rough and greenish with a hint of smoke masculine vetiver compared to the EdT. Silage is weak but the scent stays on the skin the whole day. I enjoy it a lot. Sycomore from Chanel is the kind of vetiver I do not enjoy; too polished, too feminine.

This a great re-edition of Vetiver by Guerlain. The edt has always been in my collection. I have had all the different bottle designs. I liked all of them but I was never smitten by the “extreme” or “frozen” flankers. The parfum seems however a keeper next to the already perfect edt. Vetiver Parfum is unmistakably Vetiver by Guerlain. I get that strong, green, slightly sticky rubbery Vetiver that I love best. No other perfume house has ever accomplished to construct a vetiver like this. It is unique and in my opinion the best take on Vetiver ever made. Vetiver parfum has a little smoke in the drydown. It is only a little and thank god it does not come from the variety of vetiver. Terroir matters with Vetiver. Vetiver from India eg is rough and smokey. I like the Haitian grown Vetiver which does not have strong smoke from itself. The smoke in Vetiver parfum comes from something else and it pops up from the fragrance a bit weird. I mean, the composition of Vetiver parfum I find very smooth and round. All the other notes complement the dominant vetiver in a very harmonious manner. This is a very classic French style way of making perfume and typical Guerlain. This touch of smoke seems to stand lose from the composition. I am not sure yet what I think of this little smoke thing with this perfume. I might find it unnecessary. It is also a boring kind of smoke/ash while the rest of notes are all interesting and lively. Hm.. why that tad of smoke then? Delphine Jelk talks about the effect of a Gin Tonic and indeed it has that freshness. However I link a Gin Tonic to summer but so far, including myself, everybody ranks Vetiver parfum mostly for fall, winter or spring? I would say, it is the effect of drinking a classic gin tonic while you are wearing Vetiver edt. Most of all I am very happy with the quality of Vetiver parfum. I detect no synthetics. It has that twentieth century Guerlain quality. This quality is far better then any designer brand and it is not niche. Guerlain has, despite some messy time a few years ago, always been a league of their own. Vetiver edt and parfum are also nicer and more wearable then most niche Vetivers and most designer Vetivers are boring once you have known a Vetiver by Guerlain. Over the last thirty years I owned many Vetiver dominant fragrances. Vetiver edt by Guerlain was my first Vetiver and it is the one that remains. The parfum is a more modern take on the original edt and I will also wear and enjoy this a lot. *a few weeks later and after a few wearings I don’t get that weird smoke effect anymore. Perhaps the bottle needed a little air. Now I experience the smoke (really very little) merged into the parfum. I really find it amazing. It brings back my Guerlain Vetiver experience. The Tonka in this version feels like the nicest hug you can imagine. GVP is in my opinion one of the best men’s fragrances that is released this year. It is probably the best Vetiver Tonka combination you will ever come across.

I've compared this Parfum to the OG based only on test strips; a proper wear on skin might help. I agree with previous comments re scent 'compression' and 'more dark, dense, smokey, modern (i.e. pared back, sweeter)...louder...yet losing something'. These all ring true. This Parfum is good, and different, especially when sweetness holds it in place for a while and the scent becomes more than simply vetiver. I really liked that; it almost felt balsamic bitter green at one point and I'd love to see Guerlain explore/extend that facet more without fear of further distance from the OG. However, in the end all the comparison did was make me miss the green, well-aired and nuanced 'grassiness' of Guerlain's OG. It doesn’t make me think of replacing vetiver focused pieces that I cherish. I wonder if I might replace Tom Ford GV EDP with a grassy (Guerlain EDT) alternative, for a change, in the heat. But that's pretty much it. I can see this Parfum isn’t redundant to own alongside the EDT, in a similar way that Roja’s Parfum is suggested for evening use and his Parfum-Cologne for the daytime (except here they are more differentiated, which is a good thing). So, if you love the EDT then certainly consider the Parfum, as an adjunct. Guerlain Parfum makes for solid summer evening wear and stretches use into the cooler climes, but whether this amounts to greater versatility or not, considering how versatile a strong but lighter vetiver already is, remains to be fully appreciated. Guerlain Parfum is no match personally for cooler, evening use of Roja’s (expensive but super rich n silky) Vetiver PH Parfum. And seems to me close to redundant in terms of utility if you hold Sultan Vetiver, which I much prefer. But if they created something more distinctive based around this "balsamic bitter green" accord then I might be sold, regardless! E.g. less or no 'vetiver forward' (like how the vetiver 'sits back' in Terre d'Hermes), and who knows...maybe fill the void created with those additional (tobacco, floral, animalic) nuances from the OG 🤷♂️. Anyways, I'll give it some time and then sample on skin at some point. I'm not a Guerlainophile but I found the L'Homme Ideal Parfum tester grew on me a lot (even in Summer). This was despite an indifferent start and the fact I thought the earlier EDP version of that uninspiring. So you never know...
