Guess Gold

Man here, I only ever even heard about this perfume from a secretary I met at a doctors office. I told her about how serious I was about collecting colognes during a random conversation, and she casually mentioned that one of her all time favourite perfumes was Guess Gold. She told me that it was discontinued and that her boyfriend found a bottle on EBay paying astronomical prices. This was back in 2015. Were now 2021 and my curiosity was always so peaked as to what this bottle smelled like. Recently I came across a place that had so many of these bottles I decided to buy 5 of them, as I’m in the process of eventually opening up my own store online. Anyway, for Mother’s Day I decided to gift a bottle to my mom for Mother’s Day. Within an hour of her getting home she called me up and told me that this was one of the most beautiful scents she’s ever smelled. When I visited her a few days after, I decided to spray my hand, and well, she was right. In the opening the citruses play off of eachother, the pineapple, lemon, and apple, it just works really well. By the time you hit the mid, man, left me tell you something, this is where the magic begins. The floral notes in here are a work of art, and I’ve never smelled anything quite like this either. Normally I don’t really like male colognes either with strong floral notes, but for some reason this stuff is insatiable. There is one specific note in the mid that just makes all the difference, and my guess it’s the Haicynth. When I checked the note it’s a green floral note. Anyway, by the time I hit the dry down, you’re left with a nice warm amber and slight soapiness from the vetiver. There is woody notes in here, but it’s only near the very faint end. What I got from this stuff is a nice citrus, floral, clean smelling scent. To say that I’m jealous that you women have a fragrance made by Guess of all people is an understatement. I say “Guess” because there isn’t a lot of Guess scents that are well received in our community for men. I contemplated giving this a full wearing, but for me, it does lean far more feminine than masculine. Still though, the hype is real. Lastly, I’d also encourage any of you women not to buy this bottle off of sites like EBay or Amazon. It’s a complete rip off compared to what I paid for the bottle. I literally spent $136 bucks for 5 75ml bottles. I contacted the original girl who told me about the bottle and charged her $35 bucks for a bottle, and she told her boyfriend spent $280 bucks for a bottle. She messaged me on my Instagram not long after and told me that it was the exact same smell as her original bottle, so long story short, this bottle is now back in rotation, you just need to know where to look. Performance on my skin is just above average. For the first 3 hours I project, around the three and half hour mark it turns into a softer scent, and within 6 hours it’s extremely faint, by the seventh hour it’s gone. The weather is cool out here too, but I’m sure in the hotter weather I can gain a couple of extra hours. TLDR of it all is...This juice is a winner!

I am having a Renaissance with fall perfumes as it cools off here and ermagerd Guess Gold is fan freaking tastic. I bought this over a year ago and I think I was having some sinus trouble because I could not smell the vetiver in it, and that in combination with the sandalwood and amber in the base of this is stunning. I keep choosing this over my other perfumes. I can really see this becoming a fall/winter signature for me. It is a little sweet, cozy, smoky and woodsy, but the pineapple, fruit on top is delicious and almost fizzy in a way -hard to explain this other than it feels sort of balsamic, sweet and deep, but interesting. Could be unisex I would say, but it leans feminine in my opinion, and that it is soft and lovely, but I would also like to smell it on a man! lol In a nutshell... This is so much better than I thought it was last year. I also thought it didn’t last but I think it was because I couldn’t smell some of the base notes. I put this on around 3 PM yesterday and last night when I rolled over in the middle of the night, could smell it loud and clear. It was so beautiful! Id say the longevity is excellent. I’m glad I gave it another shot.

I'm glad this is back in production! I had written a rather simple review of this in 2011, so I figured I'd add to it a bit. Firstly, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this as it's quite lovely. So I used to wear this just in the warmer months, but I decided to wear it on a chilly night and to my surpise, it smells quite nice in the colder temps! In the warmer months, I get more of the fruity notes with a bit of ambery dry down. However, the colder temps subdue the fruitiness, and I get more of the amber, vetiver, and woods. I still get the pineapple, but it's more warm with the amber and it dries a bit more powdery vs the warmer temps. It's very cuddly and cozy! It doesn't smell like Chanel Chance on me, so I guess it just depends on your body chemistry; I get moderate sillage and longevity too. Honestly, going back and re-reading the reviews on this made me want to try it in the late fall/winter. Now that I have, I think it's a great year round scent as the notes seem to change according to the temperature. I really hope Guess doesn't discontinue this again as it's really nice.

Buttery, Overripe PINEAPPLE, APPLE & VETIVER Chardonnay Scent. Imagine having glass of chardonnay on the deck of a cabin in a forest. You sniff its buttery overripe pineapple & apple tones, aged in wooden barrels that lent their peppery woodiness to the vintage. Opens with a burst of pineapple with apple & lemon touches, that deepens into a floral heart taking on buttery, fruity, sweet, floral & aquatic tones, all resting on a fruity-floral support base of multi-faceted vetiver and amber-woods. The vetiver here is amazing carries the pineapple to the finish with its fruity facets, as well as adding near-peppery & near-cedar touches, with a pencil shaving note on the skin. Has reminders of Chance Chanel. Average or slightly above average performance with dark storage after first sprays. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update 07/26/24: Sprayed this on a forearm this afternoon. Pineapple is nicely sweet & ripe, but I most enjoy the woody notes here. It's really shining in the warm weather and come alive on the skin. Still a love.

Very strong, intense, deep and luxurious. Smells like million bucks. My expectations weren't high (I mean that I did not expect Guess Gold to be a head turner), since previous Guess fragrances I added to my collection turned out to be joyful and playful rather than mature and serious. Guess Gold is a noble fragrance. From the start till the very dry down it offers a lot; juicy and tangy pineapple mixed with earthy vetiver, classy jasmine and warm amber. It is extremely elegant, powerful and would match classy skirt suit when you're rushing to another formal meeting. I expected a ligh and nearly gourmand touch, what I got instead is a top shelf juice that will make you feel dignified and extremely elegant. Guess Silver is a great summer/spring fragrance whilst Guess Gold is a perfect choice for fall and winter. Well done, Guess! I already have all Guess fragrances in my collection and consider them the best fragrances for young women full of energy and positive spirit.
