Type 3: Tobacco & Amberwood

For $20 at Burlington, you can't go wrong. This is a tobacco fragrance, which is not everyone's cup of tea and not for the young crowd. It does remind me of Tobacco Mandarin, but the quality is not the same. I do get strong pipe tobacco in the opening with some syrupy notes, and some faint citrus from the mandarin. It quickly dries down to a rich, ambery, sweet, and ashy tobacco with a hint of vanilla and a saffron backbone, and the sandalwood is very noticeable. This is a masculine fragrance for sure, from the initial opening to the drydown. The performance really shocked me for the price. I get 6+ hours easily, but with average sillage. It's warm, cozy, and perfect for the fall and winter months. Honestly, it smells way more expensive than it is. If you want a solid, mature scent that punches above its weight without breaking the bank, grab this bottle. It's an absolute steal and a great value pick. This is a really nice smelling fragrance.... The one thing missing from the descriptions are an OUD driven background, it does have a synthetic vibe to it, definitely smells like old books when you crack them open, like a previous reviewer mentioned ..but it's on the strong side and syrupy and the smells are clean and clear, but definitely synthetic/chemically but sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes it's not... I like it in this case... if you want something strong and bold you go for this... I give it a 8.5/ scent , 8.5/ strength 🔥 Ciao 🔥

@JimClassHero83, send your bottle back because its obviously a bad one, and check if its a real or a fake guess, what you described is nothing like what me and others experienced, i bought it the second i sniffed it, it's good stuff the tobacco in here is really well done and well blended, ask for a refund and get one yourself from a fragrance shop not in the mail, any fragrance can be spoiled if its shipped incorrectly.

Run, don't walk to your closest Burlington and pick this up for $20. Guess finally produced a scent capable of lasting more than 30 minutes! This is a beautiful, warm tobacco, vanilla scent. I can totally understand the comparison of smelling like old books. I also detect a faint, yet synthetic Oud note. Smells totally niche. A love.

Im not huge on maceration but this is getting better with time, a realistic smelling pipe tobacco. You can pick up other nuance notes but overall its a nice tobacco scent. As said earlier it does also have an old books smell, with leather dusty binding thats been in a dark damp room. Performs well and pairs well with a cigar

This was a blind buy at Burlington. Had never seen this one before, but after checking the notes thought I'd give it a try. Very glad I did- a very surprising offering from guess. I love tobacco scents & so far this one is amazingly pleasant. For $20, can't really go wrong. It smells like a good pipe tobacco.

If you're a tobacco lover like I am, just get it while you can. It is a photorealistic, smoldering pipe tobacco, the kind that turns your head when you smell someone smoking a pipe and Santa's Pipe by Yankee Candle. I can't inhale it deeply enough; it's incredible and cheap. Spray with abandon.

The tobacco smell is wonderful and definitely present. Smells woody and vanilly on the dry down, so definitely a decent scent for the price if you're into that. Not as much spice as I would have liked, but still a good fragrance. Will throw it in the rotation for every day wear.

I picked up a bottle of this at the local Burlington Coat Factory for $20, and all I get off of it is tobacco, and a smooth, creamy, woody note that you could call a sandalwood and tonka bean combination (although, the sandalwood REALLY shows up in the dry-down). It's a fairly simple fragrance, but it is nice-ish for what it is. I just wouldn't tell anyone to spend more than $20 on it if they see it for sale anywhere. My only complaint about it is that during the opening, it practically screams MALL FRAGRANCE, but in this case, it's more of an older style, very masculine mall fragrance. There's something about this and fragrances from A&F and the like that all have that sort of odd synthetic note to them that let you know in an instant that it's a mall brand. I would love to see someone do a deep dive on the chemistry of these fragrances to figure out what those specific aroma-chemicals are that impart that smell to a fragrance, and then maybe formulate these fragrances without them.

I went to school wearing this. Peope quite literally gagged at the smell. VERY strong and lasts a LONG time. I personally love the scent but I can see how controversial it is after reading the reviews.

It smells like photorealistic tobacco, but not much else. There is something about it reminiscent of older colognes, even just smelling the spray nozzle it reeks of masculinity.

well they didn't lie about the tobacco part for sure. i found it suffocating. but maybe it's someone's cup of tea.

Horrid stuff. Got it for $5 at a JC Penny's clearance sale, and I still feel I over paid.

Purchased this because to me I love tobacco and wood scents. All the notes seemed good, vanilla, warm spicy, tobacco. I sprayed a few sprays of it after the dry down all I got from it was vanilla, a little bit of wood, and floral powder, maybe a hint of some spice. Kind of like how you would think an old woman's perfume smells. Where's the tobacco? As someone who loves Varvatos Vintage and Spicebomb extreme this is a huge disappointment for me to even have tobacco in the name.

Putrid. One of the worst interpretations of a tobacco accord I’ve ever smelt. Grandmas stale cigarette drying out in an ashtray. The only thing reminiscent of a second note here is a blast of pickle. Either this failed a QA check and I got a spoiled bottle or everyone claiming to appreciate this thing is just trying to be artistic and contrarian.

This thing is awful. Just got it in the mail and my disappointment is immense. I saw a couple reviews saying it smelled like old books, and it does--but not in a good way. Im also picking up a faint pickle accord. Literally disgusting, dont waste your money. 2/10

It's a good thing I found great tobacco fragrances ( even cheap ones ) before I got my nose on this awful smelling stuff!!! I would have NEVER looked into tobacco in fragrances ever again. Didn't even try to give it away....straight to the trash! 🤢

this fragrance smells like ass like someone hasn't washed in a few days i want to throw it out the window

I am not a fan of getting fragrances only to have to wait for them to age into something good. But this one is close to changing my mind. When I first smelled it right out of the box it smelled so disgusting I had to step outside for fresh air. Now, a year later, it smells exactly like what I wanted to smell at first — vanilla and tobacco. Very reminiscent of a study filled with leatherback books where one goes to smoke a cigar at the end of a cold day. Is it going to be worth the wait for everyone? Definitely not. But it was for me and that’s the first time I have felt that way.

This is a gorgeous fragrance. I do get tobacco but I get more oud in the beginning. These two notes mixed with the other notes give it a regal vibe. After it settles on my skin. The beautiful tobacco accord pops out and stays almost the whole duration of the scent. Tobacco and Amberwood lasts 10 to 11 hrs on my skin and days on clothes. This is the best Guess fragrance that I've ever smelled.

This smells so much like old books, it's incredible! It's like if someone spilled a little nutmeg inside a worn out copy of...well...whatever your favorite book from the 50s is. I love the smell in a used book store. Everyone knows that smell. I had to buy this one for my husband and he wears it daily. Weird, I never would have though of it as a personal fragrance nut I absolutely love it.

Just got a bittke imof this. Too early to tell if I like it but boy oh boy there's more rose in this than I thought. Rose is listed in the middle notes but you get a huge blast of it as soon as you spray it.smells a lot like mancera aoud exclusif.

Brand new bottle, I get the sour pickles. I'm no stranger to this- the Commodity Books and Santal 33 have the same. But in this, it's the most bothersome. Def getting old books instead of tobacco, but I will set this aside to age.

I love this fragrance. I totally smell the Jazz club vibes! This is a hidden gem so pick it up if you see it.
