Drakkar Bleu

#1433 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I began wearing Drakkar Noir in 1982. I stopped wearing Drakkar Noir by 1985, and not because I no longer liked it. By the mid-80's all the young women were brutally mocking guys wearing Drakkar Noir. The darkly lit Drakkar Noir commercials with the hirsute and sweaty kickboxer working the bag had run 7x24 every hour for months. It was overexposed, and the fact that I was the college martial arts coach made it a little too "on-the-nose" for me. In fact, bottles of Drakkar were showing up in the trash bins of every dorm on campus. The Drakkar commercials running constantly had cut it's popularity short. It had become the "Brut" or "English Leather" of the 80s. L'Oreal, unsurprisingly, has done almost nothing with the Guy Laroche brand since Drakkar Noir. Guy died in 1989 (I don't know if he died of boredom with the release of "Drakkar Dynamik", a completely forgettable scent that never caught on). In 2014 they came out with "Drakkar Essence", a poorly performing and run-of-the-mill EDT that also never really caught on and they never promoted. In 2022 they finally released an EDP, "Drakkar Intense" to no fanfare whatever, a scent that performed well enough that I bought a bottle. And now in 2025 we get another EDP called "Drakkar Bleu", which given we already had a blue-colored Drakkar in "Essence" seems an odd marketing call to me. (They should have discontinued "Essence" before releasing "Bleu." The bottles and color are identical, which creates consumer confusion). Anyway, don't get too excited. "Bleu" is just a spicier EDP of "Drakkar Essence." But I think "Bleu" is worth owning at the $35 price point I got on Walmart.com. Of course, it's completely unoriginal. If you have Montblanc "Legend Blue" or "Legend Night", this gives you nothing new, though for me, I didn't care for the heavy cardamom in "Legend Night", thought the performance of "Legend Blue" was really bad for an EDP, gave both away. So this is a good blind buy for me.

So what I get with this is an ever very minty accord. The green apple is kind of prominent with this, but it has this lively, energetic, tingly sensation when you smell it and I know that’s from the Moss accord and it’s actually a good quality mossbecause when you smell it deeply, a lot of people tend to be allergic and I get that slightly scratchy sensation at the back of my throat which tell me it’s a good quality and not fully synthetic. It smells reminiscent of something in the past that I’ve smelled and I can’t think of what it is it kinda has that vibrant nuance that you get from Abercrombie and Fitch fierce but it’s not fierce. It just has that sparkling attitude that fierce used to have. Overall, I say I actually like this, but I’ll have to come back to this once I give it a full wear and update it. But if you’re looking for something that shines through the air and has this crisp energy accord to it, I would say this is what you’re looking for Very mass appealing and potentially a good dumb reach.

From the rip I got a vibe like a blue version of early 90s old school polo green I really get that fougere smell but a clean fresh Y twist to it. I love this stuff, I wish it had more punch like throw some ambroxan in it I want to get punched in the face by this scent. I got this one free from that giant ecommerce place named after a South American jungle but once it hits discounters in the $17-$20 range like Intense I'm buying more, much more. This is a super easy freshie fougere, a bluegere if you will, safe blind buy all day I can't stop smelling this stuff I want air freshener with this smell and body wash!

Apple dominates in the opening, and citruses also come. Slightly scratchy/harsh at the beginning (sour/green apple), but lavender/violet leaf rounds the dry down. Patchouli is coming too. Soapy aromatic, manly, but it's a bit generic. Carpool/gym/office/blind buy safe scent. As time goes by, I reach for it more and more often. At first, it was good (solid 4) for me, but it has really good performance, when it's hot outside (35-40 C) :)) So it's 4.5 which is almost 5 ;) Plus, I managed to get it for under $30 - has excellent quality for this price.

Very nice fragrance, I just got mine in the mail today, so this is a very short review. I don't think it resembles Cool Water that much. For me it smells something like, if Bad Boy Cobalt and Eros made a baby, it would smell a little like this. It has a faint hint of some kind of black liquorice. Sorry, as I have just gotten it, I have no idea of Longevity and Sillage. But it is a masculine scent. I am very happy with this.

Just got this in the mail today as I am a Drakkar fan boy. Still love Noir, wore it all the time back in the 90's and always have a bottle on hand. I got Intense when it was released a couple years ago and it was solid as well. I have to say just from first wearing, Bleu is really damn good!!!! Could easily be a signature scent for sure!!!!! Now if they would only bring the OG and Essence back!!!!!!!!!!!

Drakkar has brought there game up to 2025. Very good every day wear, a modern and manly freshie scent. I would say that alot of what is mentioned below is accurate and this has a combination of Cobalt, Y EDP, Legend, Eros and maybe a bit of BDC as well. Love it! If you like the freshies with small touch of sweet then you are going to dig this for sure. 8.5 out of 10. Very safe Blind buy.

Drawing some inspiration from YSL Y and Paco Rabanne Invictus. Cool refreshing spearmint and green apple, not much bergamot in the open. Going through heart the lavender and sage impart a nice soapiness before the base settles and the Drakkar dna comes through with patchouli, fir, and moss. I really love the Drakkar line; I just ordered a bottle of Intense as well.

Fresh, aromatic, slightly aquatic. Very nice surprise. Fresh spearmint and apple in the opening giving way to an aromatic lavender, with aquatic touches. Is it kind of similar to other fresh blue fragrances? Yes. But for the price you pay, around $30, this is great. If you like this kind of scent profile, it might be a safe blind buy. 😁

It smells nice. New scent... no. Ground breaking... no. Worth a spot in your collection... yes. If you can get it under $30, get it. Mine was $34 on Amazon. Happy to have it.

Just a perfect no brain grab and go, its just smelling fresh and clean like you just came out the shower in a bottle and cheap if you buy online.

My secretary pings my phone to let me know my 11:00 interview is here. "Go ahead and send them in, I'll be right with them." I've been doing this long enough to know when a candidate is going to be.... a lot. In walks this kid who, on the surface, looks pleasant enough. He's giving a "put together, if you don't focus too hard on the details" sorta vibe; crisp clean shirt, a little too smooth in that confident stride, toothy grin. There's a smugness radiating off him as sharp as mint. I hope I'm wrong. I'm never wrong about these things. I extend my hand and introduce myself. He returns a handshake that is confident but somehow still lackluster. The kind of handshake that says he's never had to earn anything on his own. "Nice to meet you, I'm Drakkar." he says. "Drakkar." I say. Interesting name. "Yeah, most people just call me Bleu. Drakkar, you know... family name." Ah.... of course it is. After a little small talk to set us both at ease I lean into what we both know is coming. "So, Bleu, tell me a little about yourself." Bleu shifts in his chair and takes on a decidedly casual posture. Legs crossed, shoulders relaxed, hint of a sly smile. The kind of relaxed that comes from generational comfort and more than a little coddling. “Well, I come from a very respected family. My father, Noir, has been in the industry since the 80s. While I've followed in his footsteps I think I've made my own way. A modern upgrade, if you will. You could say I inherited excellence and improved upon it. Where some people have to hustle for attention; I just show up.” I write in the margin: He's someone who’s been told he’s special since birth and believes every word. I come back with: "Must be hard to live up to that level of notoriety, what would you say is your greatest strength?” He gives that smile that’s half charm, half entitlement. You know the one. The one everyone learns at Dunning-Kruger University! “I appear effortless. I bring a freshness to the team that says ‘I’m put together,’ even if you rolled out of bed ten minutes ago. I don’t need to try hard. People just respond to me. It’s a gift.” I scribble: He’s the type who thinks punctuality is optional because “they’ll wait.” Not sure we'll get more than a few solid hours of productivity out of him. "And you know what's coming next then... what is your biggest weakness?” He shrugs, unbothered. “I suppose some people would say I’m too safe. Predictable. But honestly... when your dad is my dad, a legend, people expect you to be iconic too. I can’t help it if I come across like fluid competence.” I nod my head and jot down: He’s never had to confront a flaw in his life but I think hes projecting more confidence than he feels. "Interesting," I say. “Describe a time you solved a problem creatively.” He leans forward, elbows on the table like he’s about to pitch a startup he has no intention of building himself. “Every time someone needs the guy that thinks outside the box, they think of me. When they need classic, but not boring, I step in. I take the old-school ethic DNA and give it a modern twist. I'm innovating... but, you know, within the family brand.” I'm not sure he actually answered the question but I glance at my watch and know I just have to power through to lunch. Let's just keep rollin' as I note: He’s giving 'CEO’s son who “reimagines” the company logo and calls it strategy.' “We're a department that has to rely on one another collaboratively; How do you work on a team?” He waves a hand dismissively. “Oh, I blend in really well. I don’t overpower. That's not my style. I’m the guy who works around the edges and makes everyone else look good. Like, I’m collaborative, but let’s be honest, people usually follow my lead. It’s probably the name.” Of course. He’s the coworker who takes credit for projects he barely touched. “Just a few more," I say. "Where do you see yourself in five years?” He smirks like the question is beneath him. Did he actually just roll his eyes? It was fleeting, but unmistakable! “Still relevant. Still fresh. Still carrying the family legacy. Look, trends come and go, but the Drakkar line? We're born to endure. I’m basically built for generational wealth.” I get the feeling that he's already visually measuring my office and planning where to move the desk and hang his diploma and various other participation trophies. “One last one...With so many qualified candidates hoping to land this job, why should we hire you? What is it, that Bleu has, that makes him stand taller than the rest?" He straightens his tie and collar, looking for all the world like he can't believe he even has to answer this question. “Because I’m reliable, recognizable, and I bring a cool, confident presence without trying too hard. I’m the kind of person clients trust and I’m the kind of personality people remember. I make everything look easy. A no-brainer. And let’s be honest," and he actually winks, "hiring me is just good optics.” And... that's when it hits me. This was all just performative. This decision was made long before Bleu walked into this office. He knew it because, well, his dad knew it. And I've been playing catch-up for the last hour. It doesn't matter how I felt. It doesn't matter what insights I've penned. This job was his already. This was always the plan. I write my summary for HR to rubber stamp without even looking. 3 Hiring Manager’s Notes: Strengths: Clean, crisp, confident, legacy-backed Weaknesses: Entitled, predictable, coasts on reputation Culture Fit: Great (though hardly ideal) for daily tasks, office settings, and extra-departmental errands Overall Impression: Nepo-baby energy, but most likely competent. Will show up late and still get promoted. Proceed to hire dependant on background and reference checks.

This fragrance is getting a lot of undeserved hate. Yes, it's a less sweet "blue", but that's exactly what I was lookiing for. O am actually a real man, and I'm sick of all the wussified fragrances for men these days that either make you smell like cookies and cake or take it so far in the other direction that you smell like gasoline. Finally, a masculine blue fragrance that I can wear anywhere (including the gym) that doesn't smell like window cleaner, furniture polish, or gag everyone with the putrid smell of black licorice (looking at you, Dior Sauvage Elixir). In my opinion, this DOES have the Drakkar DNA, and i can smell it when I go back and forth between Drakkar Noir and Blue. They are different, but I WANT them to be different. I'm very happy with this fragrance, and it is my #3 go-to blue/gym frag, with YSL Y EDP being #1 and Versace Dylan Blue being #2.

Perfect masculine scent for office, gym, church, etc. Consider this a daytime masculine "business" scent, but not really a casual scent since it really doesn't project well after a few hours (maybe 2 or 3) unless you spray a lot of it on your clothes to ensure it projects longer, otherwise a skin scent after 2-3 hours. Sinc eit burns off fairly quickly, it's perfect for gym. Nice and masculine, you smell like a real man instead of all that vanilla cookies and cake crap. Would love to see this in a Parfum. Interesting note: Smells extremely similar to Invictus Legend (now available as Victorioso Myth), with Legend being slightly sweeter than this. Only negative I give this one is the performance as a supposed EDP. Consider this one a lighter EDT.

This is pleasant. I like it a little bit more than I expected. To me it smells very, very similar to the new JP Gaultier Flower Edition - a sweet, candied Violet leaf tempered with a really nice refreshing cool mint. The aromatics like sage are there. It balances on the line between something for a high school kid and something a more mature guy would be willing to wear. I guess I’m that second guy lol. My initial reaction is ... not bad, not bad at all. It is not fantastic, but it’s worth $20-30 from a discounter. The only place in the US I have seen it is JCPenney. Amazon has it available for preorder to be delivered in mid-June. 6/10

Got this at local bargain store (TJ Maxx, Ross, etc) for $24.99 for the 3.2oz. You guys are crazy for hating on this. This is a steal. Sure it has the YSL Y and MB Legend Blue thing going on......but for $24.99.....come on now. It's not as fruity youthful as YSL Y, and it feels more mature and more depth than MB Legend Blue. The moss and fir note brings back memories of the OG drakkar, but just a modernized BLU take on it. Take it for what you will....but this is light-years better from any crappy Lattafa that you noobs be hyping up.

Great cheapie. Exactly what it says on the bottle. A blue version of Drakkar, more modern. Aromatic, refreshing and uplifting. Was worried it may be too sweet based on reviews but it isn't. Not getting Cobalt from it, the tinge of sweetness is closest to YSL Y EDP but only hints at it. I'll keep this in my car as can be thrown on any time any place when you want to smell fresh and clean. A welcome release and back-to-basics masculine scent in todays sea of cloying unisex sugar bombs.

More modern, blue/ green take on the original. Synthetic but not overly so, decent quality for the price you pay (£20-£30 for 100ml in the UK). Opening is quite mojito-ish and aromatic, then the OG DNA starts to reveal itself more in the dry down (to my nose) with the more fougere notes. Performance is average, around 5-6 hours longevity, projecting well for the first 1-2. Overall a decent blue/ green fragrance if you want something more mature than your typical freshie, 25+. 7/10

People on here comparing this fragrance to Y EDP..... (?!)..... but what it ACTUALLY is very similar to is the new Y Iced Cologne. Which I really like, by the way. I was actually considering paying full retail for a bottle of Y Iced Cologne until I heard about this. Glad I blind-bought this one first, because I saved myself a hundred bucks. This is quite nice. Seriously, I really liked my sample of Y Iced Cologne... but this hits the same spot, same vibe, for $25. Great pick-up.

Edited and updated: There's absoluetely no similarity, not even remote to the line in my opinion. It smells similar to YSL Y / Myslf / Polo 67.. Not what you are expecting from Drakkar or Guy Laroche. Old school / barbershop fans might be dissapointed with this one I definitely like this more than I did initially - but I never disliked it. It's pretty damn good for the money, can't speak on performance - will say that I prefer Intense & Noir many times over Bleu, personally.

If hawas ice, bad boy cobalt, and montblanc legend blue was combined in a bottle, it would smell like this. sweet, minty, mass appealing fougere. I like it. Anyone over 25ish can pull this off. But only if you want to smell mass appealing. Not for you if you want to do the ouds and woody snob bs and wanna smell like a hamster cage that hasn't been washed in 6 months. Great value at $35. Never buy it at the $70 retail.

Drakkar by name only, weak Y EDP with added menthol and ambroxan facets, a modern after sport EDT for 2-3h max. It wasn't asked for nor needed. Guy's collection should bring back Drakkar Noir the way it was back then, even if they have to name it -shoot me now $2- elixir in order to sell it, or even better, bring back Horizon! before adding more soulless Drakkars to the fallen podium.

Its nice, has that Drakkar DNA but turned blue which is nice. Performance and sillage are terrible for an EDP. Its good fo an hour, than POOF....gone. This is with 10 sprays. So if you want this to show out, you need to load up on it and then re-spray at some during the day. Worth it if you can find it under $30. Otherwise, save your money and go with a middle eastern freshie.

Drakkar Blue is a really good masculine, aquatic, aromatic fragrance. I agree with @snowatom, Drakkar Bleu has similarities to Cool Water and Eros, but is very much its own thing. It's a very icy-fresh, crisp, invigorating scent and initial sillage seems very good. This is likely to be an affordable pick up at discounters. I really like it.

For me this flanker's biggest issue is it has almost nothing to do with the OG's dna. It doesn't smell bad at all if you're looking for a cheap and clean smelling freshie (think a mintier and less fruity version of YSL's Y) but it doesn't feel like it belongs to the Drakkar line in my opinion.

Drakkar Bleu is a nice change of pace from this Iconic house. I really like this, a nice clean spring and summer scent. This new flanker does not hit as hard as the OG or the Intense but it's a really good grab and go for hotter days. It's mass appealing for sure- 7.5/10.

Not bad at all, a soft fougere fresh and clean, minty citrusy opening with a woody dry down. It’s pretty versatile and mature Descent performance , very affordable Good for the office or daytime errands. Will preform better on a warmer weather. Overall good buy 7.5/10

Just got this in. It’s not bad smells good and masculine. Modern day barbershop fragrance. The performance is where this lacks. You will need to overspray if you want strong projection. But this is a nice take on a blue fragrance and the price is awesome. Low 4/5.

This has grown on me quite a bit with each try, nothing revolutionary but freshly aromatic, reminds me a bit of JS Navy Blue by Jeanne Arthes which is similar to RL Polo Sport, a touch of Azzaro Chrome too, maybe Mb Legend Blue is a more recent similar release.

This is ysl y EDP for the sweetness mixed with montblanc legend blue for the mintyness and woodyness. It's very synthetic. But it's not too bad, it's an undersprayer. If you like ysl y and want a budget option try this. I

A really nice airy, fresh clean perfume. Nice spearminty vibe. I think, for me, this is unique. Sadly the performance is not like an EDP more like an EDT. But, it's a like from me nevertheless.

Soapy, blue-green shower-gel. To me, it lives in a space somewhere between 212 Men and CK Eternity. Clean, masculine and versatile. It's nothing life-changing, but I'll definitely wear this.

For the price, this is a no brainer. Anyone over 40 can pull this off. Sure it’s not groundbreaking, but not everything has to be.

Modern and fresh without being completely faceless. Much more enjoyable than Intense. Solid solid pick up for the money. Dig it.

Really nice fragrance! Hubby happy to have in his collection, as an everyday scent, and it smells great on him.

Fresh sweet and minty. Exactly what you'd expect by looking at the bottle. Very safe scent to wear.

Lots of negatives here, not really appropriate. It is after all a budget EDP. Unlike the originals which lack performance this benefits in this respect though intense is better with longer life and a closer variation to the original. This has a fresh blue acquatic opening. The body behind it turns into an oily sweet apple with a tiny bit of green herbaceousness the mint and fir freshness long dissipated. Its alright for the price but it is almost a Ferrari Luce moment for the brand, its okay but not what I expect.

Must be over 70°f or it just smells sad IMHO. Heat and sunshine spread out the notes making it very pleasant. Nice , mature blue shower gel fragrance that also blends well with a hint of the discontinued Guy Laroche Horizon or Drakkar essence. Still, not my favorite Guy Laroche. Idk if I am a blue fragrance person or not yet.

This is 80% Y EDP and 20% Sauvage EDT but not as well blended. Not much green or mint per se. I paid $35 and it's just ok, there's better options at this price but I collect fragrances so I'm not too disappointed, just meh. Needs more mint for sure. Noir is a classic, Intense is masterpiece, bleu is meh.

If you picture YSL Y Eau de Parfum, YSL Y Iced Cologne and Azzaro Chrome Parfum/Chrome Extreme as the sides of a triangle, then GL Drakkar Bleu is the centroid.

So as a huge fan of both the classic Drakkar Noir, and the most recent flanker Drakkar Intense I actually had a little bit of hope for this. Alas, it turned out exactly as I feared. Another generic "blue fragrance" that smells like a generic bottle of men's shower gel. I'm actually really glad I sampled this, because that's $35 I can put towards something I actually like. This is about as uninspired and dialed in as it could be, and if you're expecting it to smell anything like Drakkar Noir, it doesn't. Of course there's nothing unusual there; all five Guy Laroche fragrances under the 'Drakkar' banner go in pretty varying directions, though admittedly I've (unfortunately) never had the pleasure of experiencing the 1972 original. Mind you, I'm not saying it's "bad" in that it smells bad, or that it's off-putting in any way. Not at all. I simply find it particularly staid, mundane, and uninspired. That all said, if what you're looking for is something of a "blue version" of Drakkar Noir I have good news for you!! Lomani Pour Homme!! Seriously, look no further. It's precisely that. Many tout that it "smells exactly like Drakkar", and that would be wrong. It's a wet version of Drakkar Noir. Where Drakkar Noir is extremely arid (one of the most arid smelling of all time in my opinion), Lomani Pour Homme has a smooth, rounded wetness to it. And best of all? You can get it for less than $20USD.

No.. just no 😤 This has just ruined the Drakkar Noir lineage. First of all this does not resemble Drakkar Noir in enough of a sense to be like, “ hey, is that a blue version of...” Anybody who says that this smells like Drakkar Noir is reaching for it, hard. No, this smells closer to the terrible reformation of Chrome Extreme, only that reformulation still smell smells better than this garbage that is loaded to the gills with AMBROXAN. What a waste of money. Poor old Guy Laroche.. the disgrace.

Was hoping for a good mint fragrance. What a disappointment. Sharp synthetic smell, had beter Fragrances in a boots shop or something. Really bad. Had to wash it off. No depth. Linear etc. Directly send it back. Need to stop blind buying.

I love Drakkar Noir and Intense, but this is bad, very bad. Cheap shower gel scent, for that kinda of money there is a much better freshies out there.

This smells horrible, cheap, synthetic and pungent, if there's anything that smells worse than Axe that would be it

Terrible performance. I'd say it lasts 4 hours as a skin scent with 10 sprays. That's worse than the current version of Drakkar Noir. The opening has this really strong chemical shower gel smell which is actually the nicest thing about Drakkar Bleu. I had to pay full retail ($80 USD/$112 CAD) so I'm thoroughly disappointed. Even at $30 I think this is disappointing. It performs about as well as Cuba Prestige Black, but that one is available for under $20. When that shower gel smell dies (which will happen within half an hour to 45 minutes) you're left with a barely there ocean water smell. The same kind of smell you'd get from a $10 cheapie fresh scent. No semblance of Drakkar DNA to be found. After that point it's a skin scent for the next 3 hours or so, then it's gone. I'd say it's basically gone by hour 3 actually. Nobody will be able to smell it during hour 4 unless they press their nose to wherever you applied it. If you like Guy Laroche just get Drakkar Intense, completely different smell because that's a boozy lavender and amber scent, but it'll last around 8 hours with 5 sprays, and it actually projects. This just smells like they tried to copy Cool Water or Swiss Army Classic, if you like those but want an alternative, Cuba Prestige Black is for you (sans the Drakkar Bleu opening, the Cuba is very linear, smells a bit less aquatic though). Update: I've actually received quite a few compliments wearing this, and performance is little better than I said. Not nearly as good as Drakkar Intense though. I've been getting 11~ hours out of that one including the skin scent phase. This one is more like 7 or 8.

I am a Drakkar fan but people got to get off the cool aid here. This is the typical cheap cucumber/violet freshie from the early 2000s but modernised with that harsh woody base designers sometimes throw in these days. I wanted to love this after the amazing Drakkar Intense but this is one big brain fart of a fragrance. Even Drakkar Essence was way better than this
