Velvet Royale

I have been really waiting for Velvet Royale for a long time. I'm honest, the nose behind this fragrance, Quentin Bisch, played a key role, with his creations I always feel so beautiful emotions, he really succeeds in touching the keys of my soul. The notes here give way to a dusty, sensual olfactory symphony, with the fruity, pungent notes of plum tuned magnificently with a dusty Iris, made all the more alluring by violet and lily of the valley. I can't resist adding it to my wishlist, it's gorgeous and totally reflects my own genre. Velvet Royale is a wonderful representation of a dark velvet, a queen's throne lighted by the rays of the moon. One of the best fragrances I have ever had the pleasure to smell.

If you have 1 then you don’t need another clean plum scent. This is nice but nothing ground breaking. The price point is great and last 12+ hours.

Velvet Royale is a deep cold weather fragrance. It is feminine and very sophisticated. The plum and vanilla work together to lightly sweeten the much deeper notes of oud, patchouli and warm cashmeran. The notes are all beautifully blended to elude class and elegance, perfect for a dressed-up night on the town. Velvet Royale is long lasting and has a lovely sillage that will have you turning heads.

Woods, musk, and sweetness, but a little too light. It sat close to the skin and faded fast. Low sillage, very short longevity on my skin. Not full bottle worthy. Nice, but forgettable.

Velvet Royale is quite an unusual fragrance, I haven't smelled a resinous violet fragrance before. When you see plum in the notes, read the description - the plum skins they mention are more the vibe. This isn't juicy at all, and not overly sweet or sour the way a prune would be either. It's a powdery violet fragrance most of all - I smell the violet coming through like from a packet of Choward's mints I bought the other day for reference - sweet and perfumey. Some forest greenness from patchouli, oud adding a bit of woody depth, and an overdose of resins. Elemi is strongest to my nose - I recognize it from Eau de Merveilles, that piney fresh almost licorice twist. Benzoin is here as well too sweeten things up. Although this fragrance is sweet and vanilla is listed, I don't smell vanilla, so don't expect a fragrance that will dry down to a floral vanilla. That doesn't happen here (thankfully.) The powdery nature remains throughout the wear of the fragrance, the powder akin to one of Habibi's other feminine perfumes (Jasmine Oud.) Cashmeran enhances the hazy muskiness that wafts from your scarf. Perfect for winter, the sharp floral character can cut through the cold. I agree with the brand description - this is a very elegant perfume. I feel the name doesn't suit the scent, though - this scent feels royal, yes, but not velvety - it's too fresh and cold, more akin to a leather. But I guess I could see a winter queen wearing purple velvet robes scented with Velvet Royale, so maybe it's not too far off the mark, after all.
