Soudain L'Hiver

Lord of the forest... Imagine you have been invited by an English Lord to spend the weekend in his winter cottage, in the middle of Kielder Forest. He is waiting for you at the main door with 2 perfectly groomed pointer dogs, quietly sitting in each side of his owner. He is dress up very elegant, countryside style, and a pair of wellies boots on, since he just came back from a walk... As soon as you are approaching him you can smell this forestry, up-scale, elegant aroma that is what this perfume will provide to your senses. Here natural and synthetic materials are mixed to perfection. You can get the outdoorsy feeling of the pine needles mixed with beautiful flowers and some spices (rosemary) in a bed of oak-moss and cedar. Olibanum and hint of leather just provide more depth and seniority to the composition, making it not just an outdoorsy fragrance but an extremely refined perfume. Signature-scent worthy. This is now just available in 15ml pure-parfume, but regarding to the sales assistance in Harrods, where I discovered this gem, this could be available in 70ml sprayer next year (same price, since they just drop the 15ml oil into a 70ml flakon and pour ethanol until it's full). This perfume, and all the other from this brand, are very expensive and very difficult to put your nose on. So be patient, try to find them, smell them all (quite a big range of perfumes...), and if there is one that blows your mind, then check your financials and finally go for it... Uniqueness: high Scent: 10/10 Performance: medium-high (based only from a little drop in my hand of the pure-perfume) Would I buy it: Yes (waiting for availability of the sprayer format)

Update: I finally got a bottle (oil) and wow, it doesn't disappoint. BTW, the animalic note is very shirt lived and comes from the strong pine essence. It shouldn t stop you from getting this as it goes away super quick. This is another exceptional creation from HJ. The simplest way to describe it is the most high end, exceptional version of the original Polo. Extremely strong and long lasting too.

The biggest surprise of my 2nd visit to the boutique! The leather is quite prominent and in an animalic fashion (raw hide instead of polished), carried by the majestic pine. It is an aptly named ALPHA fragrance; makes me think of a survivor with the urgent need to kill for food and warmth—The Revenant

It is something hard to find nowadays! Excellence and exclusivity Something you feel you know, but you haven't experienced the same. Perfect as a personal signature perfume.

I haven't smelled a better men's Chypre than this. Out of almost fifteen HJ's, this is my favorite.
