Sheep's Clothing

Sheep’s Clothing is probably my favorite fall (and winter) scent, and for good reason. It’s one of those fragrances that reads deceptively simple at first but becomes more intriguing the moment you spritz it on your skin. There’s this beautiful tension between sweetness and spice that keeps it from ever leaning too far in one direction. The sweetness is warm and almost comforting (soft, inviting, a little indulgent) but then the spice slips in and sharpens everything just enough. It creates this really satisfying contrast that is both playful and also sophisticated. It’s the kind of scent that feels both cozy and a little subversive at the same time. What I love most about it is the personality it has. It reminds me of something a cool avant-garde woman would wear; someone effortlessly stylish, a little unconventional, the type of person who seems both polarizing and magnetic without trying too hard. It has that same energy: feminine but not overly delicate, sweet but never naive. In the fall it absolutely shines. The warmth of it blooms in cold air, while the spice keeps it lively and interesting. It’s soft, a little mischievous, and incredibly chic. Honestly the name is perfect; Sheep’s Clothing feels gentle on the surface, but there’s definitely a little bite hiding underneath.

I’m drooling. I really love Henry Rose frags. Simple modern aesthetic, interesting but never pretentious scents, clean and ethical *chefs kiss* This is indeed in the vein of glossier you. Many other versions exist, but this is my favorite. It’s the most sophisticated imo. The pink pepper here is outspoken. Very green, a bit sour, a bit sharp, but warmed up by the musky orris and ambrette. The powdery base gives a lived-in coziness, married with fresh dewy florals and dry woods. There’s also a waxy makeup quality I love. It’s just so chic. I want to be in a timeless blouse and kitten heels strolling the streets of paris in this, curls messily tied up, turning heads with a mysterious feminine scent trail. Ethereal classy sex appeal. This is still soft without much projection, but I find it superior when comparing quality AND lasting power to other perfumes of this category (you, fleur de blonde, radiant nectar, god is a woman)

I’m about 100% sure that Michelle the owner, went to the perfumer and said “I want a clean glossier You”. Andddd they nailed it. It’s fleeting, doesn’t last long at all. But it is 9/10 identical. The only difference is that You has a touch of powder where this is not that at all. It very much smells like a clean scent. I use the lotion which is basically a must for any lasting power with this.. I’ve also started using a base perfume I already own and spraying this on top of it so it smells clean and luxe. To me, Dark is Night smells just like TF Black Orchid and I use that on top for a very smooth luxe finish. I won’t be doing that forever, just until I use up my old bottles.

I absolutely love this perfume. I am sensitive to really strong fragrances and am more of a skin scent kinda girl. Just for reference the perfume I used prior to buying this was Glossier's You perfume. I feel like Sheep's Clothing is You but better. It smells a lot like You on my skin but without the overwhelming chemical scent that is in You. I really love this one a lot...on first spray I get a lot of pepper but it fades within 5 minutes into a cozy and clean musk that is very unisex. I legit wish that I could bathe my entire body in this scent that is how much I like it. A gorgeous clean musk that is very soft

I love this perfume. I also love Flora Carnivora, which I have as well. Sheep’s Clothing has a wonderful pink pepper scent, with a whiff of a more subtle, lightly aromatic rose and something that reminds me a bit of the earthiness of Windows Down. I’m a college professor, and I feel absolutely comfortable wearing this in class (not too loud) and when I’m in my office. And, I love sniffing my wrist during the day. It’s definitely subtle, but still there after 6 hours of working and teaching.

I just bought this scent last night and decided to wear it today to work. It's already become one of my favorite work safe scents. A rose and a peppercorn battle for attention initially and then dry down to a pleasant, delicate skin scent. The peppercorn is a wolf in the floral sheep's clothing. A pink peppercorn embedded in the petals of a rose. A spicy note hiding in plain sight and then disguising itself an innocent lamb. I sprayed more than I usually do because of how soft it is.

This moves closer to a love every time I wear it. There was the occasional spray when I first got the bottle that leaned into that hamster cage smell, but that seems to have passed and now it's just SO good: a peppery, woody, dry rose that I can't get enough of. Lasts ages on my skin, too. I love wearing this one to bed or on stressful days because it's very soothing, but it's far from boring - there's an almost sour note under it all that really lends itself to the name.

I love this perfume. It's not complex but it's fresh and light and easy to wear. I have stayed away from commercial scents because they all smell synthetic to me and I can't stand that. I never thought I'd like anything rose scented and personally I can't smell rose at all. This leaves a trail that smells delightful. It doesn't project much but I can smell it on my clothing and others around me can smell it. I really love it.

Beautiful! :) fresher, lighter rose otto (not the typical victorian rose scent) balanced with jasmine and orange blossom - my two favorite flowers - and clean, soapy musk! Like all of the Henry Rose scents, the purity is wonderful!! May need to reapply midday (as is the case with any truly clean fragrances), but they do have sample and travel sizes, so that's easy to do and well worth it! :)

The smell of cotton, paper or clean wool, backed by faint berry-like sweetness and aromatic pink peppercorn. I don’t detect rose per se, if anything it adds a bit of dewy freshness to the composition. Quite delicate, almost translucent, but stunning. I’ll forget I’m wearing it, then all of a sudden I get this beautiful flush of soft, floral, candied air.

I’m not a fan of rose, but somehow I adore this fragrance. The rose is there but not typical, softened by the strong musky notes. I get the most pleasant undertones of pencil shavings (iykyk) and underlying damp funk that is extremely pleasant. This is all confusing to me, but I adore it. I just wish it projected more and lasted longer.

Well this is just lovely. I get a bright burst of fresh rose and a bit of spice from the pink pepper at first, and then this quickly settles down to a slightly sweet, musky skin scent with a hint of that bright opening still lingering. This one's a mood booster and could be worn anywhere, I think. I can't stop sniffing my arm. :)

Sheep's Clothing is a pleasant and lovely fragrance. Very similar to glossieryou but a tad bit more complex. An easy and non offensive skin scent of gentle rose, musk, pink peppercorn and yes it has a wool smell. I really love it.

Not sure why this isn’t talked about more, but this is by far the best of HR— I get compliments all the time. Easy to wear....soft, cozy, peppery, rose. This is a grown up Glossier You.

Goes on with cumin and rose notes and dries down to a clean power. Notes of pencil shavings and... insecticide? I absolutely love it. Wears very close.

Rosy Glossier You is accurate. Pretty, inoffensive. Almost reminds me a little bit of Ledda 22 Orris

I have a soft spot for Henry Rose. This house got me interested in perfume again and started my collection journey. I own 3 full size from this house, Last Light, Dark is Night and Queens and Monsters. That being said I wasn't real interested in sampling Sheeps Clothing because I am not very fond of the name. I know a name shouldn't matter that much when considering a perfume, the scent is most important, but I still wish they had named this perfume differently. But here are my thoughts on what Sheeps Clothing smells like..... This perfume starts off w/ a soft spicy and dry pink pepper, I get a bit sick of pink pepper at times as it is somewhat overused in perfumery but here it is not overdone. As this fragrance travels a bit on skin it becomes a soft vegetal musk mingling w/ rose petals, a very delicate powder orris root and soft woody notes. This is not a sweet perfume; it has a dry but softly spicy and musky quality. This is a rose perfume for people who aren't fond of rose because the musk is the main note. I wish it was stronger, but it would be good in close quarter situations where you can't be heavily perfumed. I bought an 8ml bottle and think that will be fine for now. I will decide after a few more wearing's if I want this in a full size. I do like the vegetal musk smell of this, very natural.

I’m really struggling with this one. While I’m not normally a rose fan, I’m enjoying the subtle qualities of the notes in this one, which is surprising since rose is in both the top and mid notes. The pink pepper at the top was not enjoyable, but it quickly melds and disappears. Then we’re left with a green, fresh, and dirty-like rose. I think the orris might give it a dirty quality. I don’t love it, but I also don’t hate it. I’m getting the amber woods from the base as well, but the orris keeps this scent from being a full bottle purchase. Also, the longevity is disappointing. If this hadn’t been included with a set of samples I purchased from Henry Rose, I wouldn’t have even bothered trying it. That’s bad on me, because it’s another occurrence where I’ve been proven wrong when it comes to fresh, green, rose fragrances. I like it, but the orris keeps me from loving it.

the opening of this smells insane, like spicy mothballs? maybe even some citrus? but on dry down it’s a nice, smooth floraly musk. i see the resemblance to glossier you but there is some much more peculiar notes in here. i know the brand is built on clean ingredients so not sure if this would “spoil” more than others over time? i’ve only had it for a few hours, will report back on performance and how it settles. UPDATE: I don't know if my bottle is very macerated or what...but mine smells much stronger than other reviews describe and this perfume LASTS. I put it on in the morning, went on a 3 hour hike, put sunscreen over it several times and I could still fully smell it at the end of the day. Sits close to the skin but the longevity is amazing. I like layering sweeter fragrances over it to mellow it out. If you see this it Marshalls pick it up, the quality is amazing.

Picked this up at TJMax for $20. For that good of a deal I figured I’d give it a try since I love skin scents. I do see the comparison to glossier you but this is a bit stronger but still intimate in projection. Without knowing the notes I picked up on the pink pepper, ambrette, and orris. I didn’t pick up on rose but I think it helps soften it a bit. The dry down is musky and a bit powdery at least on me. It’ll definitely be a good laying perfume or something for work. After getting it on my skin though i definitely got why they call it sheep’s clothing - I caught the soft fresh wool scent. It’s definitely a beautiful clean almost wool/paper scent. I can see why some could make the conclusion of hamster cage with those two scent profiles if you aren’t a fan of that profile. Rest assured it’s not a dirty cage but a clean one 😂

I got a bottle of this recently because I remember seeing it years ago and wanting it badly but I never could find it for a good price. I was able to snag it for $25 and here is my review. I read a lot about it not staying long but mine lasts at least 5 hours on my skin, I am curious to test this on clean, just-washed skin, because I have only ever put it on regular everyday dirty skin and perhaps the natural oils on my body make it last longer. I like this, its inoffensive, not too strong but there, you have to be fairly close to actually smell this so its definitely just for the wearer or perhaps a lover😏 there is a screechy note in the first spray which must be the pink pepper but that goes away fairly quick. Nice subtle Rose and musk.

I love rose fragrances, and was so prepared to fall head over heels for this, but I just cannot smell it. My initial impression was sooo positive - a gorgeous rose, mildly dated, but supported and made modern by a clean musk and pink pepper. Absolutely amazing for about 2 seconds and then it's completely gone. I tried respraying, I tried moisturizing, everything I could think of and still it's just the tiniest, faintest whiff of a fragrance that could be incredible if it wasn't waaaaaay in the background. I'm going to be trying the body cream, but the fragrance is just not worth the money in my opinion. A little disappointing :(

This fragrance is very peppery and musky with a quiet rose scent. I was expecting a heavier rose. This doesn't smell like Glossier You (my beloved) on my skin. This has much weaker longevity and sillage than You. I like it. It's pretty, minimalistic, inoffensive, and a little bit dull. The accords I get are 1. Soft spicy 2. Musky 3. Rose. The dry down is more powdery and less spicy. I probably won't repurchase it, but I also won't struggle to use up the bottle. I picture this on a girl who works in marketing, wears gold jewelry, and has a French manicure. 4 stars out of 5.

I get the pencil shavings others mention. My usual HR perfumes are Torn and Queens & Monsters with Last Light as my lighter scent. I guess I'm adding one more. Because I honestly fell in love with this, the 2nd time around. The Pepper and Rose are so nice. It is a lighter scent so the body cream is a must. Perfect for summer. The performance is lacking, so buy a travel spray for a touch up. The Henry Rose house makes very clean perfumes, so layering is necessary but it's so worth it. Sheep's Clothing makes me think of a dreamy summer day. It smells like happiness to me.

I once gave this a harsh review because I could not smell it, just a faint sour smell and then nothing Well I have been wearing more of the "skin but better" genre of perfume and falling in love with subtle scents I was able to come back to this and I can now smell it better. However, it still has an issue.. I barely smell the fresh rose. It's more of a musky clean warm skin scent, with a bit of pencil shavings like Glossier You (must be the combination of pink pepper + synthetic woods) but I wish this had more rose

I picked this up after spotting it at Marshalls for 30$. The bottle is simplistic and pretty. The opening smells very much like a realistic rose with rain drops dripping off of it(the rose scent has a water or wetness feel to it). As the scent develops I can only find hints of the rose and it turns more into a rich cozy scent than a floral one. The scent is very clean girl skin aesthetic. Its a easy reach and I would repurchase! Debating going get a back up especially at that price point it feels like a no brainer!

i think i like this one! i would say if you're a fan of glossier you, diptyque's l'eau papier, and similar skin scents, this one is a pretty safe blind buy. i think i like this a tad more than you, just because it's a bit more peppery and cozy. this one is probably better for cooler weather, not necessarily winter exclusively but a crisp spring evening perhaps. i'll keep my sample around but unsure if i'd go FB on this just because i have similar musky scents in my collection that i gravitate towards more often

I am not often a floral lover, but have found rose blended scents more approachable. This is one that has been a great hint so far! The peppercorn is the first scent for me when I spray it on, a great uplifting scent that is a little bubbly in my nose. Then it quickly settles into the woods, musk, and rose. On me the rose melds into the musk and woods, where it is there but isn't a stand out note like in Montale's Cafe Intense. It is pretty unisex, but with just a hint more rose and I love that!

This opens differently but smells almost identical to You on the drydown. The opening is a little more earthy and almost grassy, but it has that beautiful musk, pink pepper, rose combination as it settles after a few minutes. As a huge You fan, I’m not mad about the similarities at all! I got this at a huge discount but if you are paying full price, I would probably steer you in the direction of You on value alone (and I think You does last significantly longer on me). Gorgeous nonetheless!

I wore this blind and I swear I got a whiff of tea during the mid. Pleasant scent with low performance, mostly musk and some florals but not enough to make it feel feminine on my skin. Minimalist scent. My favorite minimalistic scents are Le Labo Another 13, Bond Governors Island, Arquiste Peau, Durga I don't know what. Diptyque Fleur de Peau Eau is also a little better. I think for this price point, dedcool milk might be more appealing but ymmv. Scent 65/100 Performance 25/100

I just found this at marshallss yeessss i snatched it up right away. when you first spray this fragrance it is VERY strange, its like spicy carrots to me. but after about 10 mins the spiciness dies down a bit and im left with a very pleasant, glossier you-esque skin scent but with a photorealistic rose note. it's not something i would usually reach for but it makes a nice AFFORDABLE ($30!!) addition to my collection :D

Turkish rose, orange blossom, musk, pink pepper, and orris with a hint of wood. Inoffensive musky rose-orris that's well done. Rose, slightly sweet, slightly green, woody, smooth, soft, and slightly warm-spicy. Tho, turkish rose comes off weird to my nose the woody orris incorporation does a good job. Average sillage and longevity.

Peppery, rich person clean house. Country club tennis. Masculine. I keep smelling this one, I think I’m addicted. However, this smells like someone else. I don’t think I can smell like this. Throughout the day I like this more and more. At Sephora I found Glossier You smells very similar but a little sweeter.

One of my favorites that I always reach for when it gets colder. Layers well for a more intimate note with other fragrances. Definitely gives the image of floral pencil shavings on a wool sweater but I’m not complaining at all— very soft, romantic, and nostalgic. A lovely scent that fades too quickly.

It's nice. It's the same world as Glossier You and Sonic Flower. The pink pepper has a little more oomph in this one. You certainly don't need this if you have either of those unless you're like me and need every fragrance in this space. 🫣

Predominantly pink pepper and rose. The pink pepper fades quickly. It is a nice rose note. It is a very clean and fresh scent, but the staying power is not there at all for me.

Testing the sample I got in the discovery kit. Not sure if I got a bad batch but... Think of an old, American highway motel; one that might have been open since the 1950s or 60s, and with a name like "Sundaze Motor Inn" or "Shangri-la Motel". It has the original neon sign out front, but most of the letters are burnt out. Its main selling points are that it's air-conditioned and has HBO. There is always a vacant room available. This fragrance smells exactly like a room in that motel would smell like. Musty (yes, with a "t") white floral potpourri and faded cigarette smoke. It's definitely a "vibe" (and not one that I was expecting). But if you don't like it, don't worry about having to scrub it; it's gone within 3 hours. It's a great name for a fragrance, and I love rose notes, but this was a swing-and-a-miss.

I have a longstanding aversion to pink pepper, which i find to be an irritant which usually overwhelms any fragrance its in. However, if done right (i.e. brought it extremely lightly) it can really pep up sweeter notes. This is what happens with "Sheep's Clothing," where lots of rose is sharpened a bit with small amounts of the pink pepper, and it might have been a fragrance I might have genuinely enjoyed if it projected more. But this really stays close to the skin, to the degree that I don't know what the point would be in wearing it. This is unfortunate, because it's not a bad rose fragrance.

I love how everything sounds about it except that I cannot smell a thing. No notes, nothing. It's like I'm spraying water on my skin. I'm dead serious. My nose is fine. I have over a thousand bottles in my collection. It's such a disappointment. Glad I did not purchase the full bottle. PS I do love the Queens and Monsters, Dark is Night, Flora Carnivora, Fog, Last Light and Torn. Windows Down also was a disappointment. Faint feel of the notes about 10 seconds and it's gone. Perhaps it's my chemistry. Puzzled.

I purchase the entire set hoping to find a new fragrance. I love the idea of clean ingredient fragrance. I had high hopes for Sheep's Clothing and Fog. Unfortunately, Even after spraying half the sample on myself, I barely smell anything after 5 minutes. It opens with an herbal freshness that I'm hungering after but then I have to bury my nose into my arm to smell the faintest hint of undistinguishable clean smell. Char will be my last attempt at a Henry Rose perfume. So disappointed.

Smells pretty enough but disappears within minutes of being sprayed. Not really a standout scent unfortunately. Henry Rose's more floral scents have all been disappointing to me Edit. Somehow I ended up with 2 more bottles of this from a brand promo. Its not bad but didn't really need a total of 3 bottles when there's so many better hr scents. I recommend london 1984, it feels like what this wanted to be. Maybe I'll layer them fo use up my sheeps clothing

Smells amazing. I sprayed half of the tester vial on my skin and clothes. I got the 12 vial sampler from Henry Rise. My hub sprayed his clothes with Sunrise Blush from Oakcha (A Tom Ford Bitter Peach dupe which is an amayyyzzzzing knock off) All I could smell was hub's $30 Oakcha cologne. An hour later, I couldn't smell this on my skin or clothes. No projection. No longevity. For the price it's no Bueno. I won't be getting this one.

This line smells so synthetic... and kinda weird. Not in an offensive way though, if that makes sense. Sheep’s Clothing smells green musky and woody almost exactly like fresh paper with a little bit of herbiness. There’s not really anything else in it for me, maybe a little powdery note once it dries down but thats it. Not bad to be honest. If you’re looking for a photorealistic paper scent I’d try it out.

Smells a bit like BLOOD which is soooo cool . But not that interesting because I dont think that's what its trying to do. Blood and red wine a little. Not my vibe, wish there was something woody or stench filled to fill it out. I wear button ups. Someone wrote that they got a whiff of tea and maybe the herbal note mixed with the musk/rose/pepper adds up to something a bit metallic.

I get more musk than florals once this fragrance settles on my skin; once it dries down, the rose, neroli, and peppercorn are basically undetectable. It’s not an offensive fragrance and is mildly pleasant, but not compelling enough for me to want to go out and buy it. I’ll throw what remains of my trial size vial into my toiletry kit and will use it up on an overnight trip.

I am surprised there are floral and woody notes in this perfume because I think that the pepper is strong in this one. I like mixing it with sweeter or vanillic scents to tame the sweetness and gives a uniqueness. I'm not a fan of this perfume on its own. This is a peppery, fresh, and green scent to me. Great for layering.

Pleasantly strange...flashbacks of my darling furry li’l Stinky, my first pet, a sweet li’l hamster saved from a torture death bio lab testing facility. Here, Stinky’s aspen shavings substrate is sprinkled w/ pink pepper & floral petals. A nostalgic memory I love but don’t wish to smell like.

Would be my signature scent if it lasted more than 30 minutes to an hour. I am used to skin scents but sadly this doesn’t even last on clothes. Sonic flower is close to this but less of that pepper punch that I like. Sonic flower however lasts 4-6 hours.

AN initial blast of musky pepper that lasts several minutes. After about 15 minutes it settles to a pleasant floral musk. A barely there skin scent. Fitting for an office scent.

On my skill all i get are pencil shavings. Goes on with a burst of pencil shavings backed by some light florals and quickly transitions into a pencil shavings skin scent.
