Dirty Fig

I was looking for a fig really looking by the name, but the scent is very pretty rose.

Absolutely agree with Lmkstl. Smells lovely the first few moments after you put it on. An hour later it is COMPLETELY gone. So far ALL the Heretics are like this, not matter how heavily I load them on and after the top notes are gone they are dull as dishwater OR gone. So much hype so little substance.

Heretic fragrances evolve curiously, and Dirty Fig is no exception. It initially presents as a fresh currant; a bit sour, perhaps still unripened. Then a green, twiggy note emerges for a brief while, as though the nose is traveling from fruit down to the branches and vines. Then the whole thing is coated in a warm, ever-so-sweet rose/berry preserve. In the dry down, my nose very clearly picks out the rose and blackcurrant, but not so much the raspberry base. Reminds me very much of L'Ombre dans l'Eau (Diptyque), but less robust. I'm very fond of Dirty Fig (not sure this is a fitting name for it, as there's nothing fig-like about it) and all of the Heretic fruit fragrances. Not sure the larger bottle would be a wise purchase, because as others have pointed out, Dirty Fig doesn't exactly have tons of staying power.

This is a very pretty fruity rose fragrance, but the only "dirty" or "fig" quality about it is the dirty trick of attempting to pass it off as even remotely fig-like. There's not a hint of fig here, either literal or notional. Heretic's press notes explain that what passes as "fig" in perfumery is generally a chemical sludge to which their version provides a natural alternative. I'll take their word for it. But why feign creating a natural version of an admittedly elusive scent? It would be better to just embrace the limitations of natural perfumery. Dirty fig is a pleasant rose-raspberry-currant creation, but anyone looking for something figgy, or dirty for that matter, will be sorely disappointed. A nice enough, dirty fib.

Oh, Heretic, you owe us an apology. You have created a lovely, luscious, fruity scent that literally evaporates in less than a half hour. I have never worn a scent with less longevity. Bummer.
