24 Faubourg Eau Delicate

A happy update: I finally have this beauty, the whole 3.4 ounces of it! Acquired on eBay from a very lovely (and trustworthy) seller from Spain. The shipping to Canada took a long time, and I almost thought I have lost it to customs again, when it finally arrived. I was so relieved... and so happy! As many of you noted, this is a lovely, light fragrance that does not have the heavy "mature" scent of the original 24. I am totally fine with that as I could not wear the original 24 without getting a severe headache. I love the fresh lemon-y aura I get from Eau Delicate. I think, it is the combo of orange blossom, geranium and bay leaves but then again, my nose is completely untrained, and my detection range limited. To me, the fragrances are more about the feeling I get while wearing them - some make me feel happy and energized, while others not so much. Eau Delicate is that "happy and energized" kind to me. The staying power is quite weak though; after a liberal application, maybe an hour at a time for me. It seems to last longer when sprayed on clothing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have fallen in love with this fragrance... only to find out the (affordable) mini does not exist in this universe :( The full bottle goes on Amazon for $290 which, sadly, is far too rich for my blood and, to make things even more insufferable, they do not ship to Canada. I am now officially heartbroken...

How can a fragrance be so rich and delicate at the same time? I think I've found my perfect jasmine....After indolic and heady journeys, I feel an exhale of ecstasy and an inhale of serenity... 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate has all of the class and allure of the original, but none of the patchouli!-and being a completely different fragrance-it outshines the original, for me! This transparent "minimalist" fragrance is not difficult in any way-if you like the smell of white flowers-gentle, radiant, with their freshness and soft floral "sweetness" that isn't really sweet.... What victorious subtlety--a fragrance as warm as the skin it's meant for, just clean enough from the geranium and leaves to not smell like drying or crushed petals--baby-soft without powderiness, sensual without muskiness, intoxicating, without sweetness or spiciness. Eau Delicate is the rare joy of being tickled by the right person, in the cool spring air, with just a touch of sun warming the skin-it's such a rare sensation to experience while wearing a "floral" fragrance. That tickled tendresse makes me forget the typical aggressive nectar-whippings and sharp, soapy, sweet powerhouse affairs that elicit smiles for being floralesque-for a moment. Or for a few hours-the lasting power is not poor, I would say it lasts about 5 hours, if not more-but the sillage is...ohhhh...delicate!

I dislike 24 Faubourg a great deal. It's a headache-inducing potent aldehydic abstract floral with a heavy ambery base. It's not my thing at all. Similar to Caleche in some ways which is also a heavy aldehydic abstract floral. 24 Faubourg EAU DELICATE, however, is another story. It doesn't bear any resemblance to the regular 24 Faubourg. It's sunshiny and happy. It's a green orange blossom-neroli scent over summery white florals. There is maybe a smidgen of the 24 Faubourg DNA in the base that's barely detectable until it fully dries down but it's not enough to be too heavy, just enough to anchor it on your clothes for a while longer. This one is really nice for hot weather when you want something refreshing yet floral. On skin it doesn't last very long but if I spray my clothes it lasts maybe 4-5 hours. It reminds me of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria types of scents but I think it lasts a bit longer than most of those. I was devastated when this disappeared but it seems to be on the Hermes site for about the past year. I haven't seen it in stores or anywhere else though. I bought a bottle last year when it appeared on the Hermes site and I will very happily wear this during the heat and humidity of summer.

I'm done with heavy and forever sillage scents. That's not to say I don't care for them, I do, some of them deeply. But today's environment of allergic to anything different whingers make me cringe. And quite honestly, I too get headaches from vanilla, gourmand, and the biggest culprit, Tonka Bean, whose wee tiny molecule can ruin an otherwise interesting scent. I'm down to a distant waving of my arm through a mist for the heavy hitters I have. All to say, Jean-Claude Ellena is a master, un parfumier et poet. The AI suggests 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate is linear. Sounds dismissive, as if a few ingredients perfectly presented can be tossed off in an afternoon. The fewer the ingredients the more room for error. For me, this floral is the right balance of each note, with the whole experience a pleasure. The dry down is somewhat intimate, but one can still discern something lovely and interesting in the room. Not quirky as many of today's more modern Hermes offerings, which I have and often use. A masterpiece nonetheless. So glad to have found it. It deserves to be brought back.

Fragrantica-istas, Eau Delicate is back for 2019! Hermes is carrying it at their boutiques for at least this year, and will decide by year's end if they will continue it beyond 2019. While usually a rather predictable fan of complex chypres, Eau Delicate fulfills my need for a delicate floral that isn't your mass market floral. For me, it opens with subtle white florals and a touch of green, followed quickly with a bit of fresh spice, the warmth of subtle musk, and enough complexity to keep me happy. It is both bright and warm at the same time - a truly beautiful, tasteful floral fragrance. The sillage is impressive for a delicate scent, and I'm able to smell it on myself throughout the day - even if just as a lovely skin scent by day's end.

I am not usually an impulse buyer. But having fallen in love with the original 24 Faubourg and Jean Claude-Ellena's works, I grabbed this darling when it was for sale for $42/3.4 fl oz. What a beauty. Silky citrusy orange blossom in the opening, followed by velvety jasmine and a touch of greenness. A lovely pale golden yellow color scent, just like the color of the liquid. If you find the original too heavy but enjoy the luxe flowers, this may be a good replacement. There is the essence of the original in a way, although both compositions are fairly different. I will try it a few times more and update my review. P.S: Oh for Pete's sake there's no "suitable" age group for this! I am 19 and I enjoy it thoroughly.

Eau Delicate is completely different from the classic version! I hate "the old" 24 Faubourg, but I like the ED. It's a light, refreshing, floral fragrance, elegant and classy! Ideal for spring and summer, it goes well with floral-print-dresses and light colours. Better with dresses than shorts and t-shirts. It's also very natural, there's nothing soapy, powdery, chemical or plastic-like in it. Maybe a little bit cold to me, sometimes I feel it like a wind blowing in a crispy early mornig on March.

24 Faubourg Eau Delicate is presently available for sale again on Hermès’ website and at their boutiques! I have been told by the fragrance pros at Hermès that it was never discontinued, that it is simply a limited time offering when they do make it available — and it is presently available. Many thanks to my sister for giving me a heads up so I can alert the team here.

I like this better than the OG, which I find too strong. This flanker definitely has the DNA of the original, but it seems airier, more luminous, sparkly, and in my olfactory sensation, lovelier. But this may also be because these days I prefer more subtle scents. Very well formulated; overall, gorgeous. Beautiful bottle, to boot.

Sparkling, fizzy, and lightly sweet white florals with an equally airy and complimentary spice from the geranium & bay. Feels very fresh and clean with a nice little kick as to not be too forgettable. Hot weather appropriate, this is perfect for the current blistering heat.

The orange blossom/jasmine combination reminds me slightly of Elie Saab Le Parfum, however 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate is crisper and to my nose, less cloyingly sweet. Very nice. Although this lacks Elie Saab's longevity and sillage, I find myself preferring it.

This 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate & Caleche (original) are my most favorite of all perfumes! I wish that Eau Delicate had not been discontinued.

This is the most lovely, feminine, not overdone in any way, perfect fragrance of all time. If Hermes discontinued it, I will simply die!!!!

I tried this on today, and within fifteen or twenty minutes I was ready to write it off. It bore absolutely no resemblance to the original 24 Faubourg, which was fine with me since I'm not a fan, but it was heavy on a very lemony geranium and smelled like a pretty generic light fruity floral. I didn't wash it off, though, and then I discovered the fragrance I'd expected from the original 24 Faubourg. I know there are a lot of die-hard perfumistas here who adore the original, and my nose is surely not as well-developed as theirs, but it's just too big, heavy, and mature for me. With the Eau Delicate, I get a soft, sophisticated white floral. Not soapy, not screechy, not too "Everyone notice me, I'm wearing PERFUME!" It's not mindblowing enough to warrant a full bottle, but I'll enjoy wearing the rest of my sample.

Such a kind and gentle white flowers scent but with personality. It has the orginality and uniqueness that the mass market flower scents lacks. I get the vibe of some tiare, some sunscreen lotion kind of tropicality. But still delicate nothing vulgar or a shout in the face. Bottle is flickery colored. Beautiful. It is very well named; delicate. Nothing in common with its older sibling which is the nightmare of an aldehyde hater. Unfortunately, people who find the original 24 too offensive and strong will mostly ignore this little gem with prejudice.

This perfume is the very essence of ethereal, regal grace. It does not need to speak — its whisper lingers, revealing the quiet strength of a woman certain of her own allure. A tender breath of jasmine, delicate yet profoundly real, drapes the air like silk.

Very different from the original 24 F. In my skin is a soapy soft floral with very little sillage and longevity. I was expecting something else.

Creamy white flowers with a strong citrus companion . Sunshine in a bottle!

I have noticed that this juice is sold in two different bottle designs. Can anyone tell me if with the bottle change came reformulation? I blind bought it for a reasonable price, since the notes sounded very nice, but all can smell is hyacinth, gardenia with some woody notes at dry down, if you can even call it dry down, because the life of this fragrance is quite short. Not bad, fresh, classic and lovely scent. I just don't gravitate towards hyacinth, so I was hoping I wouldn't find it in delicate version, but there it is!

This is definitely for people who like their scents to be ultra-green. I ended up sneezing and I only applied a little bit of it! I didn't even smell any hint of raspberry at all or sandalwood!

This perfume is dreamy. It makes me think of clear summer days sitting pretty on your back porch rubbing bare feet against the flourishing flowers climbing against the wood. Romantic and mature, but very natural. This is *actually* how a flower shop may smell like (the ones I've been in, at least). The scent itself is VERY linear and easy to describe. Green. Floral. No woods, no spices, no animal notes, no aldehydes, no mess. Refreshingly crisp and clean. Straight-forward like eye contact. To my nose, the scent is dominated by geranium, with wisps of orange blossom, jasmine, and neroli. I don't detect the sandalwood at all, and it never gets overly musky. The scent is primarily smooth, balanced, and floral. Clean white petals dotted with dew. 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate, in my opinion, is reserved for mature women, no matter their age. Something about it is so peaceful, like a woman who is content with her feminimity and position in life. She is wise, confident, and soothing. She has "elegance" and "sophistication," but she doesn't look for it in a magazine, a pill, or a trip for botox. She is who she is. I understand why this perfume may be called "boring" or "old lady," because 24 F ED is so unrepentantly grounded, peaceful, and mature. But I think it says a lot about the woman to be able to carry this one comfortably. I'd love to smell this on my mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother any spring/summer day. :)

I honestly don't understand genius of Jean-Claude Ellena at all! He mainly creates minimalistic-type perfumes with no mystery at all. Although lilly seems not to be listed in ingridients, for me it is all mono lilly-type smell. Quite bouring and inducing a headache.

I’ve never smelled the original, so my review of 24 Fauberg eau Delicate is only for this fragrance, which I received as a decant in a swap. I love neroli and orange blossom, and also enjoy jasmine most of the time; I adore sandalwood and musk. This is a gorgeous amalgamation of some beautiful notes. The orange blossom and jasmine are fresh and sweet, but not candied or sickly. I see others have mentioned an indolic jasmine, but I do not get any indoles. However, I do smell a jasmine that is multidimensional, not a virginal jasmine; if that is what others sense as indolic, then I concur. This vibrant white floral has character and depth. I don’t know geranium or bay leaf as perfume notes, but I know them from real life; and I suspect the green vegetal note of true geranium is here giving the fresh, vibrant but earthy green note. There is also a hint of lemony-ness that complements the orange blossom well, and may come from the geranium. And I can imagine bay leaf enhancing the earthiness, so that this ethereal fragrance doesn’t simply float away on fairy wings. I think the sandalwood also gives a roundness and balance to this composition, but that’s how I feel about anything with sandalwood in it; without sandalwood, I think this fragrance could be shrill or too insubstantial. If you are familiar with the art of Alphonse Mucha, then you may know his set of 4 paintings depicting the 4 seasons as beautiful women. “Spring” is depicted as a gorgeous woman with flowing golden-copper hair and a white tunic over beautifully formed limbs; she is surrounded by pale spring blooms under an ancient tree and bathed in golden spring light. That image and eau Delicate belong together: eternal, graceful, vibrant, fresh; delicate but not frail. This perfume has fairly strong sillage, and so far has lasted more than 4 hours on me. I think those who enjoyed Glow (neroli and rose) might appreciate this, although it has none of the soapiness and none of the powder of Glow; it does have a similar neroli-sandalwood combo. I also found it similar to Sung, but eau Delicate does not have the intensity of the LOTV in Sung nor does it have the green powder of galbanum and hyacinth; it’s a simpler, tighter composition than Sung, which I suppose some would say is more modern, but I think also makes it timeless. This is a really lovely floral.

DIVINE!!! The epitome of elegance. An absolute delight from first spritz to dry down. The geranium and jasmine are incredibly well played an accord, with an endearing bayleaf gifting them with an aromatic, legére backing. Geranium can be a wonderful note together with white flowers, when tamed to a whisper to add just character to accords. Here it's the King of charm, truly delightful. Eau Delicate is a lightly soapish, classy, timeless number. It's zesty enough to be fresh, not cold aloof, vibrant yet delicate - to me, regal sums it up. Not your common white flower, bunch in your face thing. This is what mastery is about - dreamy potions to enrapture your senses and imagination. But then, we talk of an Ellena's creation... a standout on all levels. Buy a bottle, no way to regret it, not even if this type of fragrances are not your cuppa. You'll surely find days to wear it, and enjoy its enchanting soul. PS: ladies, the dry down is to die for.

I am back with a new critic review. First I like to point out that all that reviews are purely from my point of view, I do no want to offend anyone or any taste. This fragrance for me is ultimate granny wish for her retirement.It has a dusty old begining and a sour ending. I think most of men will be thrilled to wear this masterpiece (of course old men). I agree that this fragrance try to reproduce in an accurate way the naturals odors, but Hermes brand did not choose the best ingredients from nature. About the original 24 Fabourg..it would be to hard to speak about the mother of this "interesting" fragrance.

It smells pretty and elegant, soapy, but also natural. There are no sharp edges to this; it's tender and soft. This is a soapy floral rather than anything photorealistic, and bears very little resemblance to the original 24 Faubourg, but it definitely stands on its own. I did get bored of it after a while and remember feeling triumphant after using it all up, but it's been three years now, and I'm craving it again. The only thing I've found similar to this is Ineke's Angel's Trumpet. The latter is just a tinge more citric and slightly antiseptic smelling, but for the most part, it could pass as eau delicate.

I was very pleasantly surprised upon application...it reminds me nothing of the original, but is very pleasant, fresh, and well balanced. It is fairly linear, and very sweet floral on me, but is balanced by minute amounts of wood, musk, and green. I find it quite enjoyable to wear, and have not a bad thing to say about it....but it doesn't make me swoon, either. Longevity and sillage are excellent, so go lightly. This is a fantastic alternative for those who favor Amarige d'Amour or Jessica McClintock original.

A very generous fragrantican gifted me a decant of this and I immediately purchased a full bottle. It's like the very best parts of Clinique Happy, Cerruti Image and Versace Versense mixed together (weird because they don't share any notes) with some ginger (I know its not listed, but it's what I get...) and the smell of a freshly laundered bathing suit. I seriously dont know why this is what it is to me, but it is - and I love it.

This is genius of Ellena. 24 Faubourg Eau Delicate is a classic to give mature women the final touch of sophistication.
