Patchoulilight

I was really surprised by how much I liked this one! Don't get me wrong, I love patchouli, but at first spray this is a pretty bog standard sweet-spicy-patchouli scent. Good, but unremarkable. However, something happens as this settles into your skin. It becomes this gorgeous, soft, powdery cloud of earthy patchouli and green, green rose. I love a fresh green rose, and it's so good with the patchouli here. Longevity on this one is beastly, but the sillage isn't too overpowering. Very nice.

I was planning on upgrading my 10ml of PoaL to 100ml, but now I think I will just buy this. They really are very similar though this is missing a shade or two of the darkness of PoaL. Not sure on the longevity just yet. I started testing Hermetica due to the lack of alcohol because I have very sensitive skin, so this will fit my needs perfectly, 90% of the time without causing the inevitable rash I get from my love of fragrances.

patchouli and rose are a winner every time for me. patchoulilight reminds me of IA's Slow explosions, but balanced slightly more toward the patchouli side. i also notice a faint plasticky barbie smell, but it weirdly works? what can i say- i like this one. it's incensy without being resinous, earthy and floral with a hint of soap to clean it up.

For me its a patchouli - rose version of a portrait of a lady which is more rose- patchouli Not annoying, but also not so versatile as portrait of a lady. Still like it a lot. Got a bottle with Eterniris as well

Hermetica Patchoulilight opens as a sharp, powdery rose/patchouli blend but dries down to a musky, sweet mix (still of rose/patchouli) that adds in white musk. I enjoy that evolution, as, with the Source1 DNA, Patchoulilight is almost biting and tangy at the opening but then becomes a lot more mellow and nuanced in the dry down. Like most of the line, it feels like a decent performer but nothing altogether that special, and at its standard pricing of $195 for 100ml / $135 for 50ml, it’s workable and versatile, but I’m not sure I’d ever consider springing for this, myself. I certainly like it as an alternative to heavier rose/oud or patchouli/rose blends, as Patchoulilight feels a little more 4-season-friendly. Still, it’s not unique or boundary-pushing enough to make me go wild for it, but it does what the Hermetica line seems to do in general in that offers an accessible blend at passable pricing without getting into crazy territory in terms of either concept or pricing. The non-alcohol method of delivery and Source1 DNA continue to be interesting attributes of the line. 7 out of 10

My, what a very earthy/rooty/powdery patchouli, with heavy floral backup! I think this could be really good as a bottom layer for something "too sweet". My initial thoughts are that it might be too floral for a guy to feel comfortable wearing, as it jumps really heavy into the rose. Citrus comes out in the drydown, and I feel that it becomes more balanced and enjoyable. Not a long-lasting fragrance though: five hours, and it's nowhere to be found, even with nose pressed to skin. Definitely not one to blind-buy!

This fragrance confused me for the first 5 minutes. I came on weak and watery, the powdery iris was dulling down the patchouli. But, as it warms on my skin, it's a duel between patchouli and rose. This fragrance would appeal to someone who doesn't want punch-you-in-the-face patchouli but prefers to smell patchouli one second and rose the next.

I really like this scent. More so than Portrait of a Lady. The patchouli adds a nice sourness to the rich florals. Perfectly blended and truly unisex. Elegant, especially for a patchouli based, and simple. One of the best in the line.

Portrait of a Lady, the eau fraiche version. Light but very smooth, and I really am impressed that this has some stamina, though projection is lacking. If POL is too much for you, this could be your cheaper ticket.

More rose then patchouli, which is a good thing to me. Sweet and smoky on me. (Fresher on my husband) A 70’s rose.

I got a small 2ml sample of this unique and beautiful scent, in a bag after I purchased a few other scents. I then put it in my bowl of dozens of other decants and samples, then one day I had some time to kill so I blindly dug my hand into the bowl and pulled out 4 I was gonna try out. I always do top of each hand then each wrist. So this way I get to try out 4 scents and not have them get mixed up. Out of the 4, this one stuck with me the most. I really like it. It goes on my list of perfumes to buy next. The list never ends, unfortunately. Just when I think this is it. I have every scent I will ever want, I keep discovering new ones. The Niche houses always get me. I love me some nice unique Niche perfumes . I like Designer too, don’t get me wrong, but when I splurge beyond my means, it’s always on a Niche or Indie perfume. Awee there’s nothing like discovering a beautiful new scent to fall in love with. It’s what we scent lovers live for ......

you know what.. ive always avoided perfumes with patchouli like the plauge, but i genuinly enjoy this one. Maybe i have confused the note of patchouli with something else similar? However.. Its a fresh scent, with notes of raindrops in the summer covering the roses and candied violets. This is a keeper, so light and fairylike.

I have a brand new bottle of this one. I don’t like it. Blind buy . If anyone wants it, it’s for sale. Good price. Or u can buy it from me on Mercari.

A unique, pretty patchouli + florals. Rose, a bit of powdery iris. Soft, elegant...an upscale hippie who bathes in rosewater.

pepper patchouli sandalwood combo and a bit heavy on the powdery rose. the patchouli has a bite. the slightly oily feel of application is a nice surprise not knowing it was not alcohol-based. i think it's interesting enough to me to check out what else this perfumer makes. but this particular one with its emphasis on rose and patchouli that makes it feel a bit too feminine and way too patchouli/iso e so it is not for me and maybe even a bit too artificial? maybe the artificiality is just an intuition...

It is strange that I hated this one because I like patchouli. But this one reminded me of old ladies lunching and gossiping or flappers partying the night away. If I was at that party I would walk out, it smells that bad. It's very yesteryear and I usually like more traditional scents but this one was a huge no for me.

This is definitely Portrait of a Lady's sister. I say this because it starts out smelling just like Portrait of a Lady (by Frederic Malle), but it dies down a little different. Portrait of a Lady smells the same on me and it doesn't change as the day goes on and it's strong (a beast). This gets suttle as the day progresses. Nice perfume and cheaper than POL; worth a test if you like POL.

I thoroughly enjoy this fragrance, finding it a fresh scent with the patchouli and only slight hint of lemony rose. The violet and iris add a creamy, powdery element making this a perfume I can wear at any time of the day, anywhere. The sillage and longevity are both good, and it sits at a reasonable cost. Overall I am delighted with this one.

Why would they want to add rose in here, ruining beautiful patchouli. For some reason I get strong association with Lenor detergent. Opening is nice smelling like patchouli with green apple, but it fades away quickly and dry down is just a Bulgarian rose. If you love rose scents you would love this one. I hate to hate this one.

This is exactly the same as Montale Black Aoud. If I had smelled this blindly I would have said it is Black Aoud without hesitating a moment. That close it is. Good? Yeah, of course. It already had been done by Montale in a superb way. Get the Montale and save some money. Excellent aroma with monster performance.
