Verticaloud

I have the pleasure to meet Artur, representing and introducing the brand at Campomarzio 70 niche perfumery while in Milano for Esxence 2019. The creator accomplished his task. How? Well, while Q80 does detect little oud, I detected a beautiful balance of rose and oud. So it might smell diffrent from skin to skin. Rose and Oud are prominent. So much that it remind of Oud Ispahan by Dior. Artur agreed with me. But I like Verticaloud much better. At the drydown the Rapsberry lingers for a long time together with the oud and the rose. The result is a soft sweet fruity backgroud. Something Oud Ispahan does not have and that make it difficult to pull it off if not in a formal setting. Vertical oud silage is moderate which make it easier to wear. Great performance and since it does not contain alcohol its life span becomes great. Like it so much that I got myself a bottle.

I loved this one from first spray. Oud is a hard one, and something I tried with JHAG Another Oud (unsuccessfully, was too much), but in this it's so aromatic and gives a real oomf. It's definitely on the stronger side, and sticks to you for a long time... You'll still smell it after showering, but it's not offensive or overpowering to me. It settles to a gorgeous smooth aromatic woody scent on my skin. Sadly my partner thinks it smells like men's cologne (thinks that of most of my perfumes really), but I'll keep wearing it anyway. :) I really love the Hermetica brand. Their fragrances are molecular focused and layerable, super high quality, alcohol-free (!!) and the bottles are refillable. All good things that differentiate them from others tin my eyes.

wow wow wow. verticaloud reminds me of nothing more than spicebomb (original formula), with an added note of transparent fruit, i wanna say... applejuice? I love it a lot, for real.

Relaxing at my computer with a cup of steaming peppermint tea was where I first heard of the house of Hermetica. The beautiful Tiff Benson on her YouTube channel discussed this fragrance at great length and after listening to her description of Verticaloud, I promptly added this fragrance to my sample list. This is heaven. Verticaloud is a simple fragrance yet very effective. It expands on the traditional blend of rose and oud by adding juicy raspberry and leather. The house of Hermetica are proudly alcohol-free, and their blends are a mixture of synthetic and natural ingredients. Verticaloud has an oily texture on the skin, and this is said to act as a moisturiser. I had fears that due to the lack of alcohol this fragrance would struggle to last on the skin. I am happy to report that my worries were in vain as Verticaloud lasted a solid nine hours on my skin. I have always loved oud as a note in perfumery, however, it has been some time since I last wore an oud-heavy fragrance. Verticaloud has reignited my adoration for this note and I anticipate the return of the cooler weather so that I can spray Verticaloud in abundance. Naturally, you do have to appreciate intense oud and thick rose accords to enjoy Verticaloud. It's not a fragrance for everyone, but from those that have tried it, their opinions have been positive. If you like fragrances such as Louis Vuitton's Mille Feux, Penhaligon's Halfeti and Dior's Oud Ispahan, you definitely need to get your nose on this fragrance.

Verticaloud is my final sample from the Hermetica sample pack, one of the nicest packs I’ve seen, another neat portmanteau name that, apart from “oud,” makes me wonder what it’s all about. Looking from the notes, it’s an oud fragrance with a variety of the influences, and the experience is about the same. There’s not much oud—a faint, synthetic oud in the background—but elements of rose, pepper, saffron, leather, and raspberry. It’s a diverse offering of familiar partners, with surely a bit of that Tuscan Leather vibe but less provocative overall. Verticaloud hits a lot of the interesting spots while remaining fairly smooth and inoffensive, despite feeling robust and a bit daring too, and in that respect, it’s a weird contradiction, but I like it for that. And with pretty solid performance, it’s one of the better values in the line, warranting the retail pricing of $195 for 100ml / $135 for 50ml perhaps more so than some of the other lighter options. And fortunately, even though the blend is largely cold-weather-leaning in terms of notes, it’s not overwhelming to the point that it cannot be worn throughout the year—maybe not in the dead heat of a summer day, but it’d work for me in most other cases. Another neat offering from this house, and a nice way to round it out. 7 out of 10

To me this is a more raspberry version of Byredo's Rose of no man's land. At first sniff I was in awe, since it is all I want in an oud fragrance. I am prone to major headaches and don't like very strong bitter woody perfume, but this is very feminine and sexy. I really like it. I think it is a good one to try for someone who is a beginner in woody fragrances, since after some minutes it settles into a very soft raspberry and rose and woody perfume that is not too offensive. I love Hermetica so far, I got the discovery kit and will soon invest in one of them! 9/10

Prominent and loud oud that seems to stay quite stagnant on my skin, very little evolution and is rather linear to my nose. While that may sound like a downside, it actually isn't - it stays pleasant and funky throughout its entire longevity on my skin. It is a bit boring, but it is very well made.

Short and simple: Beautiful, fruity oud opening that takes a back seat as the scent deteriorates when raspberry and leather creep into the mix. Floral nuance. Doesn’t maintain its verve, but quite good all around, and nonetheless.

Its like a knock off version of ombre nomade but without the smoky incense. Not a bad fragrance but just not a great one either. If you could find this at a reduced price and blind bought it you wouldn't be disappointed

I find this a fresher take on the ubiquitous rose/oud combination. It’s wearable and unisex leaning masculine, really lovely.

Follows the trend of oud and rose and just adds saffron, it’s nice but just a bit boring and trend following

I have a love hate relationship with this fragrance and I never really made it work properly for me. I received it in the Harvey nicks fragrance advent calendar and this smelly was suited to that time of year. I made the mistake of wearing it for work and the warmer temps really brought out the oud so I couldn’t smell any of the other notes. I traded my second bottle and managed to finish mine. Sadly not one I’ll be purchasing in a full size. Others may like this but after trying many, many fragrances I realise that heavy oud notes are just not for me.

I really wanted to love this one (travel size) but It doesn't last on me.. it's unisex leaning masc (which is exactly what I was looking for), very fresh oud. I liked layering this w an array of other types of perfumes but unfortunately it didn't last on my skin, or clothes.. layered or paired w anything. It didn't perform well on its own either. I really wish it lasted longer, but it was a very close to the skin and then disappeared to nothing.. I'll be on the search. I wouldn't have purchased a full bottle at full price.

This is a scent you will love or hate because it comes on strong. It reminds me of late 1980's perfumes like Dior Poison and Cacharel LouLou -- a similar powder-fruit purple scent. For me, this is plum & raspberry mixed with amber & oud. You either like that fruit/powder mix or you don't. It's a tad too sweet on my skin. But I do love that Hermetica perfumes go directly on your skin (no alcohol) and so they smell different on each body. Try this if you like Poison or LouLou.

My friend works at a retail shop that sells Hermetica so he brought me a few testers. This was my second favorite out of the four, behind MultiLotus. Powdery rose oud, but made interesting and fresh with added leather and fruity raspberry. Still unisex. Reminded me of ATH Oud due to it being powdery. Not my wheelhouse, as I prefer super fresh fragrances in my very hot humid climate, but if you're looking for a fresher take on oud check it out.

Smells smooth enough and is an easy to like but generic fragrance. It's a little fruity with a tiny bit of oud, not a heavy smell at all. But it's is irrelevant because this lasts all of 5 minutes and is pretty much a skin scent from the very first spray. Waste of time.

Absolutely nothing new here - there are so many similar (and better) perfumes. Compared to other oud perfumes, sillage is non-existent too.

Just another leathery oud? Similar to Straight to Heaven by Killian but lighter. The fruiry fig profile reminds me of Gris Charnel.

It's a boring combination of oud+raspberry+safron and a hint of leather. Nothing special.

As I have tried so many oud frags out there it is hard to not compare or worry whether or not something will be similar. To my nose this could be the counterpart or relative to Guerlain (Santal Royal). Now it isn’t as sharp as Santal Royal, but if sprayed too heavily it could become overwhelming. I have yet to try a fragrance that travels as this one does. I spray it on the back of my legs and it radiates as if I sprayed it all over me. The longevity is quite phenomenal in itself, I’ve gotten 8hrs with it. To an untrained nose this is extremely unique. But to someone who smells niche on a regular, this is not special. I would definitely try a sample before going in on a full bottle.

Got a discovery kit and this is one of the more memorable ones. Warm, cosy, a good intro to oud, or a softer option for people already familiar with it. Appropriate for day and night. I found the scent lingers the longest out of the set I bought (although Patchoulight is supposed to be strongest but it’s not included in the set). I can see why this is their bestseller. But a very affordable alternative to this is Orientica Smoky Oud perfume oil, which is not currently in the Fragrantica database. Definitely worth a try for around £5 and it’s even more potent than Verticaloud.

Rose leather raspberry This is the usual fruitti leather blend that has a raspberry on a soft leather with roses prints on. It doesn't have much oud as it's name but hints and bits here and there. It has similarities with "Empathy" by The House of Oud, & "Sekushi No. 7" by Lengling. It's a blend that has been done before and it's best selling where i came from. Fair.

I put one spray of this on my hand at 8pm last night and after a shower and multiple hand washings through to 1:30 pm today this is not only still there, it's detectable a good 5-6 inches away from the application. Insane performance. If I'd put this on my shirt it could very well have become a permanent feature of the shirt.

It starts off very leathery, but than goes into the fruity ambregris territory à la Baccarat Rouge and Montale's Sensual Instinct. I think there are too many copy cat scents in this line. Too bad, because it comes from the same people as Memo Paris and Floraïku.

Such a lovely scent- but it’s EXTREMELY DEPRESSING how little it lasts and there’s no silage. It’s atrocious given the price point you’d expect for the price for this to last 12+ hours and have a great spillage but No. NO. A RIP OFF

Fruity (raspberry) with hints of synthetic oud. Done million times already, a hard pass for me, there are much better options. Good longevity though.
