Caaastagna Saalaaata

This perfume reminds me of a wealthy young adult living in Mexico City circa 2006. As soon as I smelled it, I was transported back to Condesa: green smoothie in hand, pink blackberry, Tous handbag, Lacoste polo. To me, this smells like salty, green, baby powder, skin-like scent. It has a warm depth that reminds me of a lotion we used to use growing up. I can’t quite put my finger on it. It smells like nostalgia. It reminds me of hugging my favorite older cousin while growing up. She was always so cool, had a white Volkswagen convertible, and always smelled fresh and clean. This perfume smells SO familiar!!! However, it doesn’t smell like an actual fragrance... but more of a moment in time. I feel frozen in 2006 when I wear this. Simpler times. Close family. Sneaking off with my cousins iPod to listen to her cool, older music. She smells amazing. She smells like her. Ugh this perfume makes me feel like THAT girllllll, but with a tsunami of nostalgia washing over me.

My sample of CS leaked (womp womp), but based on sniffing the baggie it was in, I am reminded of MM's By the Fireplace. Imagine the chestnuts/wood in BTF being roasted in a pit by the seaside. There is a woody, nutty smell intertwined with salty, oceanic notes. I get a tiny bit of seaweed and beach grass.

Very unique. It probably reads as 'masculine' traditionally as it's very heavy on the salty oceanic air and pretty light on the roasted nuts. It smells like the ocean breeze (minus fish) mixed with a quite far away whiff of roasted nuts. Not the candy coated variety, more savory and full bodied. As it dries down it gets a bit more powdery, and a bit less bracingly salty. The richness of a roasted nut comes out more and the ocean breeze lingers on in the background like fresh air. Lasting power is pretty moderate, I'd say it's still detectable after 4 - 5 hours. Not a whole lot of silage but that could partly be because I'm trying it as a dabbing tester, not a spray, and I never seem to get good silage from that format. Would be a stunning home fragrance, but not something I find too wearable. It's very atmospheric and makes me feel sentimental for European beaches.

Salty castana on an ocean breeze. This is overly cloying castana (chestnut) with an overdosed seasalt and ocean spray. Too much sea breeze as I almost can smell seaweed on a salty chestnut. Not at all.
