Vetiver

For me this is comparable with Hemingway from MASQUE MILANO (ginger opening), Vetiver Coeur from April Aromatics (citrusy opening) and Bourbon Vetiver from Pd'E (ginger opening). It is has more complexity than Hemingway but Hiram green Vetiver is made vb complete natural ingredients which I appreciate. Very well balanced as Vetiver Coeur from April Aromatics (more balanced than Hemingway in comparison; as much balanced as Bourbon Vetiver in comparison but much light and mood lifting) If Vetiver Coeur is like the warmth of sunshine, Hiram green Vetiver is like the all the sunflowers on the ground because of the slightly grassy and earthy and spicy side. I would like to describe more about Vetiver Coeur that is very creamy sunshine and gives pure happiness, like a scent for the most precious newborn baby. I'd like to be treated as a beloved baby putting it onto me. (I will describe it on its webpage also.) I would buy it. it gives me possitive energy for me. Not like Sultan Vetiver which gives me a boss-like presence with autoestima. I cannot choose between Hemingway from MASQUE MILANO and Hiram green Vetiver, putting them side by side they are quite similar, but many more natural ingredients vibe is there in Hiram green Vetiver while Hemingway has more fases of vetiver till the end. By the way la durability in comparison side by side, Hiram green wins Hemingway after several hours giver strong scent still. Those two are better than Bourbon Vetiver from Pd'E to me because mor decorated notes around the vetiver, whilst Bourbon Vetiver is too straight forward and simple, and too dark though it turns out brightened at the end with little vetiver or I cannot distinguish between the base note and Vetiver and orris. Edit: just did the comparison of those four similar type of vetiver frangrances, and Vetiver Royal Bourbon from Oriza L. Legrand outstanded of the others in durantion, Hiram vetiver and Vetiver Bourbon gave similar duration and strenth; while Heminway faded away sooner than the others as skin scents. Interesting! Since the price counts, Heminway is not worthy of its price tag but for the complexity that it gives only. I noted that Hiram green and Vetiver Royal Bourbon from Oriza L. Legrand have also so natual ingrediant the smell than others. Also worth of mentioning, these two are more positive and joyful, and maybe Hiram green Vetiver is even more joyful and positive than Vetiver Royal Bourbon (but both of them are so delightful and bright!!!)

The more I wear the sample the more I love it in an totally natural smell, it is so bright and positive!!! I love Fat Electrician, Etro Vetiver, Vetiver Royal Bourbon, Sultan Vetiver. I am surely to get one bottle soon it will become my next signature scent the more I wear it, and It would become one of my favorites vetiver perfumes in the list. It was 7/10 for me now 8.5/10. It creates a very bright mood for me, very very bright! Like it describes: "....like Hollywood’s golden age: elegant and charming, yet vigorous and adventuresome." That's the vibe. Final thoughts: to me, Hiram Green has down a great job in this one not doing mass appealing scent but with expressive caracter as an independent niche house should do! Got to try all the other ones of this house!!! ---------- Updated: Just got my bottle, and totally enjoy it! It is intimate despite if its sparkling opening. Perfect balance with long longevity (excellent natural ingredients). The projection is not strong enough after the first hour in this second fase. At this stage, different phases of vetiver supported with base notes show. And become very enjoyable skin scent, can't explain the complexity, definitely different from the E'd Empire which contains Ambrette. Hiram Green' Vetiver is not musky though it can be detected. Though it become a skin scent (but strong and long lasting), still, I enjoy this arte so much.

Reviewing a bottle from 2023. Vetiver was launched in 2021 and is now unfortunately discontinued. This is a rich multifaceted vetiver. The perfect vetiver? Perhaps. Vetiver opens with soft citrus and spiced dry candied ginger laced vetiver. The Haitian and Java vetiver combination showcases both fresh and earthy/rooty facets. This vetiver is not smoky .Green cedar and ambrette extend the long woody finish. Well blended and balanced. It feels thick and rich almost like a vetiver version of honey with dry spices. Quality- excellent Unisex Performance- excellent (moderate sillage , lasts 6-8 hours) Vetiver is a must try for vetiver lovers and can still be found. Why review a discontinued fragrance? If there is enough love, it may come back (see Shangrila). Also as Hiram Green releases Ultra, which I have not yet had the opportunity to sample, we can always admire the range and quality of his past creations. 9.5/10

This is one of the freshest, earthiest vetivers I own. It smells as if I ripped the vetiver roots out of the earth with my own hands. Really one of the most realistic vetivers I've smelled. I get a bit of ginger on me but lots of citrus squirts. The longer it sits on my skin, the lighter the vetiver becomes, with the ginger becoming clearer. It ends up with a perfect balance among the vetiver, the ginger, and the citrus--closer to the vetiver perfume one would expect. I compared it with Guerlain's Vetiver and Frederic Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire, and HG's version is much less "perfumy." They all are great in their own way but I think this one is the real deal.

Warm vetiver glowing in late afternoon sun. Subtle and subdued. It paints a calm and unfussy picture of a very relaxed end of day. All the deeds are done and you are free to decide what to make of your evening. Grab a bite, read a book, listen to some music. Nothing wild or fancy. First thoughts from sampling: If you consider this among the other 8 current perfumes by Hiram Green, it's more introvert and airy. The vetiver is gorgeous and doesn't hit you on the nose like some do. I will probably have some more thoughts after I receive the full bottle and have lived with it for a while. Or maybe I'll just let it lavish me with its peace and quiet.

This is one where you get exactly the notes that are listed. I actually thought this was a vetiver solinote scent when I first tried it, and remember thinking "hmm, this vetiver is surprisingly gingery and citrusy!" Some vetivers leave me feeling dirty rather than earthy, but this one is perfectly balanced in combination with the other notes. I actually don't have anything else in my collection like this, so I'm pretty excited!

There are so many variations of vetiver and they are each amazing in their own way. To me, Vetiver by Hiram Green is mostly bitter, yellow grass, but slightly green. It’s a little bit dirty and smokey and a little bit clean with subtle hints of creamy sweetgrass. It’s one of my favorite vetivers overall and one of the more lasting vetivers I’ve had, but it’s still quite fleeting and doesn’t ever last as long as I want it to.

Incredible. The ginger and citrus are SO strong- have you ever wanted to smell like a lemon? Exactly like the scent of holding a lemon peel up to your nose? This is it. This is for you. The vetiver is way in the backseat to carry those along and slowly worms its way out. Bought the discovery set after trying Hyde and I was NOT expecting to love this one so much- but jiminy christmas does it ever -work- on me.

Very smoky. Goes on bitter, sweet and like campfire smoke. Lovely and long-lasting for an all-natural.

Vetiver is the final sample from my Hiram Green discovery set for me to test, and I have been consistently impressed by this brand. Made from all-natural ingredients, yet composed in the style of classical French perfumery, each HG perfume is a creative yet wearable interpretation of the classics. I've been blown away by the artistry of some, notably Slowdive, Vivacious and Hyde. Vetiver is more traditional - a high-quality, nicely executed aromatic woody scent with a dominant vetiver note. The vetiver is beautiful - high-quality and multifaceted. It is equal parts dry and woody, airy and grassy - comfortingly aromatic throughout. Haitian vetiver is generally agreed upon to be the best quality vetiver for perfumes, so the combination of the two main vetiver varieties here is interesting. Vetiver opens with bright citrus notes. I get lemon and perhaps bergamot, and the ginger adds subtle warm spice. I love a well-placed ginger note, and here it adds a little, well, spice to a predictable citrus opening. The vetiver note emerges very early on, becoming more dominant as the citruses subside. It is green and slightly damp initially, wonderfully herbal and aromatic. It becomes gradually more dry as it develops, culminating in woody goodness, enhanced by the cedar note. There is a slightly astringent quality to it as it develops, but it doesn't ruin an overall good scent. It could be the remnants of ginger, or perhaps irregularities in the natural ingredients. I don't get much ambrette, but it becomes slightly musky as it fades. Sillage is intimate-to-moderate, and longevity is moderate. Unisex, even masculine-leaning, Vetiver is a good quality all-natural vetiver scent, fresh and aromatic, ideal for warm weather. For me, Guerlain Vétiver is the gold standard of vetiver-dominant scents, even the modern version, but Hiram Green's offering is really good in its own right. 3.5/5.

While it's discontinued this rendition on Vetiver is especially bright. The use of citrus, and most importantly the initial blast of ginger, allows the brand's signature animalic musk to be versatile. While very wet and dank, it sits on the skin like a slick layr of sweat from the afternoon humidity. Refreshing like the air after summer showers, there's something especially soil-tinged about the dry-down. I have had this sample for so long that I know it's best in the limbo period between summer and fall; when the sun shines too brightly and the brisk wind doesn't have a place to stay yet. Vetiver surely isn't anything I would want past a single sample, but it fits in this mid-August rut.

When I sampled this one right away I thought my husband can wear this but I can't. It is very masculine. The scent opens w/ strong ginger and citrus accords. Then as the fragrance develops the earthy and woody aspects of the vetiver take over and combine w/ the ginger and the citruses to create a very pleasant summer fragrance for a man. If you like vetiver but want it to be fresher and more summery give this one a try.

There’s a dry green cast over the fragrance, kind of like tree bark, before the familiar rooty-dusty vetiver scent really comes out. I think I like this one. More forest-floor than dry-dust or ink. Vetivers are all very similar, except the ornate ones like Guerlain or stealth vetivers like Timbuktu, but I think this is a nice greenish-shade scent, less austere than some.

It smells like Limoncello liqueur. Didn't like it at first but I wear it occasionally. Maybe to take a break from my favorite perfumes. It's that thing that helps me to reset myself.

this opens with a smoky vetiver and cedar with a hint of citrus. i swear i get something slightly creamy, which must be the ambrette. overall an earthy vetiver that smells like smoke and woods. smells like walking through the woods with some smoke burning from afar. leans trad. masculine to me, and is a bit too earthy for my personal tastes, but would smell wonderful on the right person.

Very fresh and zesty opening with the citrus and ginger, but also earthy as I get the vetiver from the very opening. The dry down is earthy vetiver and a lot of musk. Simple but nice enough. It does not smell like Hemingway(which is a leathery take on vetiver) or any of the other suggestions; this is a musky take on vetiver. It is enjoyable but it lacks character and enthusiasm.

I agree it's a terrific, natural vetiver scent, but I got NO ginger or citrus. Seemed instantly to go straight to middle note vetiver upon contact with my skin. After about fifteen minutes, the cedar began to come through. It's been about an hour now and I get fresh-cut vetiver roots in a cedar chest

While it's structurally very similar to Guerlain's Vetiver, it lacks the roundness. I believe this is due to the choice of a very natural Vetiver which comes across as quite jagged and sharp. If you like Vetiver as it smells from an essential oil bottle that this would suit you, otherwise stick to something like Grey Vetiver or Vetiver Extraodinaire.

This is quite a peppery vetiver fragrance. Opens up very citrusy and spicy from the ginger, dry down is a peppery woody vetiver scent. I personally like more subtle and refined vetiver fragrances. If you like peppery vetiver, give this a try. Not my cup of tea.

Opens with a big hit of tangy-sour citrus, well balanced by tangy-crisp vetiver and tangy-dry cedar. The ginger gives prickly body to both the citrusy half and the woody half of the composition, melding the two aspects together very efficiently. The composition feels spare and focused. It's woody-sharp, crisp, and—once the liquid-zest of the citrus note ebbs—dry. It smells like a woodshed, with wild rosemary growing up all around it, and an old vintage bottle of lemony furniture polish leaking in the corner. But it's not a bad smell, it's...pleasant. Rustic. Brusquely elegant, even. Though not really one I personally foresee myself craving.

alright okay!! this was the nail in the haitian vetiver coffin—i have finally accepted that it's a note that just does NOT work on my skin. it's very prominent in this fragrance. i definitely get a bit of the citrus and ginger top notes but as expected from the name this is just a very vetiver forward scent that sadly doesn't do me any favors

I love all of Hiram Green's fragrances. They smell of exceptional realism, which make it feel high quality and luxurious. Vetiver though? It smells like saliva in a bottle. It's "not your average vetiver" but in this case I'm not so sure that's a good thing. I believe it's the ginger that makes this smell off.

To me this is very balmy, in an olibanum kind of way, almost churchy even. A little tart and zesty (ginger) but not the typical vetiver for sure. Not sour thankfully, not too woodsy as i mentioned if anything this is like a churchy balmy scent to me. Maybe even myrrh!

I'm no vetiver connoisseur, but this to me is an excellent vetiver solinote. Linear, with good longevity and low sillage. Nothing skunky, inky, scratchy, or citrusy. Heftier and earhtier than Guerlain and none of that synthetic wood of Encre Noire.

This is being discontinued along with Vivacious. I wish he'd stop doing that. Everytime I fall in love with one (looking at you Dilettante) it gets the ax. I guess he's got to make money though. Anyway grab it while you can!

Opens wonderfully, a citrusy , slightly smokey freshly cut vetiver. Classic fresh vetiver, nothing new but a great vetiver smell. The dry down I like less. A very natural hay like musk 6,5/10

At first try it reminds me more ginger version of Uncut gem from FM. This will be ideal for summer.

A very pleasant, fresh solinote vetiver perfume. Not too aggressive as far as vetiver goes.
