Vivacious

Between this, Slowdive, and Hyde, Hiram Green is quickly becoming one of my most beloved and admired contemporary perfumers. I totally get the comparisons to L'Heure Bleue and Après L'Ondée, but to me, Vivacious is much more modern and well-rounded than either of them, especially L'HB. It's essentially a blend of powdery florals with a spritz of citrus and luminous resins. Two key purple flowers have been elided, however: iris and heliotrope. I'm a huge fan of them both, but they tend to impart a cold, sharp, clean edge to many powdery fragrances, including another favorite of mine, Habanita. Instead, we're presented with this balanced panoply: the dusty warmth of carnation; the starchy earthiness of orris (the root of the iris); the damp green coolness of violet; hints of tangy bergamot and sheer amber. They all come together to form something both powdery and green, lustrous and grounded, wise and lively: the glowing chill of an unexpected, elegant caress. There’s something almost spicy here, as well. I’m not sure if it’s the carnation or the orris, or perhaps a bit of both. There's a kind of olfactory gloss at play in Vivacious, something with heft and shine that belies an airy core—a restrained generosity. I'd therefore classify this as slightly more formal and feminine, but as always, it could definitely be worn by anybody given the right ambiance. The harmony between dewiness and heat makes it a very versatile fragrance in terms of season; I daresay it could be a year-round affair. The longevity is very good, with the amber and carnation becoming more pronounced with time. The sillage is demure but noticeable. Vivacious, fortunately, more than lives up to its name. It's scintillating, breezy, and full of life.

Wow. I was not expecting to love this, as violet perfumes tend to have a kind of minty or slightly metallic quality to them that I find off-putting. But Vivacious is SO rich, creamy and smooth! The violets are there, adding their brightness to this perfume in a way that I'm surprised at. I didn't know it could be this way, Violet love <3! The violet is beautifully rounded out by a buttery orris and mild amber. The carnation gives a spicy kick. This falls into warm-spicy genre for me. Soft, earthy, and mildly spicy... blended BEAUTIFULLY. The fragrance fades out with Orris being the predominant base note on me. This does not feel 'flowery' to me, but violet perhaps doesn't read that way to my nose. My perception of the fragrance pyramid in terms of prominence: Orris, Violet, Bergamot, Carnation, Amber. Edit: after some thought, I think it's important to emphasize that there is not much sweetness in this perfume at all. It creates a slightly "raw" ambiance.

It definitely has the retro Guerlain vibe. It has all I like on L’Heure Bleue (nostalgia, iris, yummy powdery notes) but avoids any grandma association. Vivacious is lighter and more cheerful. However, in my opinion it’s more nostalgic than zingy or „vivacious“. Which is not a bad thing, on the contrary, it might be my Victorian dandy scent for rainy days. It leans feminine but not more than, say, Le Cri (Parfum d’Empire) or Angélique (Papillon). Iris is very prominent during the first half an hour, then it is more about violet and carnation. Actually at the beginning you get this strong L’Heure Bleue feeling, but slowly it changes into a beautiful modern violet scent with a warm amber (but not too sweet) background. I think this is one of the best Hiram Green’s scents (on par with Hyde for me, though they are as different as day and night) and a great blind buy!

A very natural scent of violets with spicy clovy carnation. There's something earthy here, maybe it's the amber, which might be something like labdanum. Balushi (in comments below) describes it well - cold, powdery, earthy and spicy. I find it soapy too - a lovely old-fashioned violet spicy soapiness that makes me think of Crabtree & Evelyn soaps, or a country cottage bedroom with a china bowl of pot pourri, patchwork quilt and a window over-looking a garden. Twee if you don't like that sort of thing, but I find it comforting and soothingly old-fashioned. Into dry-down it becomes warmer, with a hint of cinammon I think. It's spicier than Apres l'Ondee, less milky. As spicy as Luten's Vitriol d’œillet but prettier, more floral. I'd say its unisex since it's not sweet and it's soapy/spicy. Lovely, and unique!

Vivacious is absolutely delicious and very Guerlainesque, indeed! In my opinion, you do not need to own a full bottle of this if you already have L’Heure Bleue, they’re very, very similar, with Vivacious being more... well... vivacious :) A crispier and happier version of the Guerlain classic. I generously applied my entire spray sample at around 8am, by noon it was a skin scent and was gone by 4pm... not bad but not great either. A fantastic creation, that I wouldn’t hesitate to add to my collection (even with the LHB similarities) if it was priced more moderately, but at $165 for a 50ml I cannot justify owning it. Conclusion: great scent and an absolute MUST try for all Guerlain fans, and perfume lovers alike.

Nice flowery perfume. The notes are very representativa: Violet, Carnation and iris... This is vivacious! Very bright fragance subtle and elegant. The smell is very natural. The only issue i find maybe is the performance since It is not very good. It lasts for hours but with a very moderate/soft projection. The dry down has for me some cola drink vine. I think vivacious is a fantástico fragance for daytime use in spring and fall. Unisex but leaning maybe a bit more the femenine side fue to the softness It has... I agree with the vintage Guerlain feel descriptions below. To me it evokes Apres l’ondee and L’Heure Bleue with a hint of candied violet feel of Insolence. I guess, because of violets and my violet references. Edit : As the hours go by it evolves more into a sweet violet perfume and the perfume that brings most to my mind is Insolence, though more natural, calmer and less intensely sweet. There is also a hay-like quality. 2 sprays are very noticeable 4 hours + later. My partner who won’t care about perfume thought it smelled “clean and like a freshly ironed shirt”

There’s something so nostalgic about this scent that it almost makes me emotional—it feels like smelling a lost memory. It’s a modern take on the classic powdery violet fragrance, and I agree with others who’ve noted similarities between Vivacious and Après L’Ondée. But the addition of slightly waxy orris and a touch of spice gives it a kick that makes it feel more contemporary. The result is a scent that’s both unique and timeless—high quality, beautifully blended, and versatile enough to wear daily through every season.

Ravissement How not to think of Après L'Ondée when the evolution reveals under its powdery bouquet a gently amber base, of a genre that Guerlain would not have denied? Complex but balanced, opulent without being heady, the sillage of Vivacious is a delight. Ironically, it evokes some monuments of a perfumery considered “modern” precisely because it was able, at the turn of the 20th century, to assimilate the synthetic ingredients that he excludes today.

Its beautiful and echoes nostalgia. The violet/bergamot/orris moments are just rich and lush. Full bottle worthy. Its not as sharp as insolence, and less powdery than LB. What is really close to it is the 1992 version of Evening in Paris. Paris is more powdery with peach, but I personally think its closer to that than LB. Layer this with the dark Caron base under it like Nuit de Noel and it becomes more evening. Just a quality fragrance. Love it.

This scent is my current hyper fixation. Dusty, powdery, herbal.... almost reminiscent of an earthy dandelion root tea or tonic blended to perfection with the rawest honey from the country side. This smells pollenated....if that makes sense. I hate that this is getting phased out, will cherish my bottle.

Hiram Green, yet again, has delivered for me. This frag starts out smelling like cherry cotton candy in a very adult way. As it wears on that initial scent mellows to a quieter version of frolicky fun. I cannot detect powder in here anywhere. A fun, easy call back to childhood and female leaning IMHO.

At first spray it smells like huge tuberose then quickly the clove starts to present and you get the spicy carnation vibe all sweet and lovely hearkening to the vintage days but updated. The drydown is very sweet. It doesn't last more than a couple hours, but is lovely as all Hiram Greens are.

The spiciness from the clove blends smoothly into the spicy sweetness of carnation. That complements the more delicate scent of violets rather than overwhelms it. It's a shame it's been discontinued. Maybe something similar is still being produced by a different maker.

A beautiful little carnation fragrance without being overly spicy. The violet and orris notes are noticeable at the beginning but it moves backstage bringing the carnation to the fore.

Wow,, THAT is green violet. The oils in this brand is stellar. Top quality. Lovely. Only one thing wrong. The price. Too high.

I was quite sad when Hiram announced the discontinuation of Vivacious. Sad and surprised, as I always felt it was one of the most accomplished perfumes from the house, as well as one of the most adored. Who knows? It’s definitely my favorite Hiram Green perfume. It is a very well-composed, natural-smelling violet-themed fragrance. This is the main issue when searching for the “perfect” violet perfume. This one, and Sultan Pasha’s Violet Noyee, are the most naturalistic takes on the flower (in my opinion). I often find the interpretation of this floral accord too powdery, too cosmetic, or too sweet for my liking. Here, it smells naturalistic and well-rounded. It offers a fully immersive olfactory experience - fruity, grassy, powdery, and sweet, all in the right amounts. Hiram draws inspiration from classics like Après L'Ondée and adds his personal touch. The result is more than a mere “modernized” version of the former. While it shares some common ground, Vivacious feels very “outdoorsy” and natural-smelling in comparison to the Gurlain. It is perhaps less melancholic—less gray and more golden-green hued. I was quite surprised by its opening when I first experienced it. It opens up grassy and spicy, like having the breeze hit your face as it bends the grass in the fields, carrying the flower pollen to your nostrils. Besides the green aspect, there is a lot of spiciness from the clove, which gives it a nice lift. This skews the composition into unisex territory. (I know many men struggle with the idea of floral perfumes.) Later, the carnation in the heart takes over from where the clove left. It pushes the spiciness well into the dry-down and reinforces the “vintage” flair of the perfume. Orris is used to add powderiness, supported by a golden, dusty, and glowing amber accord in the base. This perfume feels like taking a nap in a violet field, immersed in the scent of grass and the flowers, warmed by the sun above. Vivacious may appear simple at first, yet it is not. It may seem familiar, but one cannot deny its creativity. If you felt Après L'Ondée was too feminine or melancholic, you might be pleasantly surprised to find a brighter and more unisex version in Vivacious. Or, perhaps you were searching for a natural-smelling violet that combines vintage and modern elements. This one also bears innovative agrestic qualities, especially in the opening. Vivacious is a simple scent, but with an unusual composition. While violet is present, I expected it to be the dominant note, appearing realistic and natural like the flower itself. Instead, after an fast-changing opening featuring the aforementioned violet, it settles, becoming a carnation-dominant scent. Smooth and sweetly spicy, it is pleasant and a little different, but not the scent I was expecting. Vivacious opens with a surprisingly sweet violet note - more candied Parma violet than delicate, powdery floral. Orris root joins it very quickly, tempering the sweetness with its beautiful powdery earthiness. There is some grassiness in there too. There is a lot happening during the opening, with the notes progressing very quickly. Clove-like carnation also emerges early, adding soft spice. It becomes carnation-dominant as it progresses, soft and powdery, with a hint of sweet amber in the base as it dries down. Sillage and longevity are moderate - as usual, excellent performance from this all-natural brand. While it is a pleasant yet unusual composition, I was hoping for the violet-iris accord to be centre-stage, instead of the unexpected carnation. Unisex and easy to wear, this is a great transeasonal day scent that manages to be a little different. The best carnation scent I've tried since Cartier L'Heure Convoitée II. 4/5.

this opens up with a strong floral that kind of reminds me of tuberose, but also smells like a bouquet of flowers in a scratch n' sniff book i had as a child. there was one other perfume with this scent that i also think i mentioned on here, haha. anyway, i don't know WHAT is doing that here because it doesn't seem like any of the notes. most of these notes seem like they'd be soft but this is kind of powerful and there is also almost a gasoline like thing going on, along with something herbal. shortly thereafter it gets a bit spicy from carnation and the orris adds an almost soft suede like element. later it gets sort of dusty and i can see the violet aspect better but it's not a powdery violet, but more sweet. i think the strongest notes here are carnation and orris. it's way softer now, it smells natural, powdery, herbal. after a lot longer on skin i really like it-it's powdery and somewhat bready. the violet is really beautiful once it has time to settle in.

This is a fascinating one! Opens up as a nice dewy floral - ok, throwback, I like it - then, wait a second, is that...clove? Carnation? That's a REAL throwback! This reinterpretation of the popular notes of yesteryear (especially the spicy carnation) manages to evoke the style of vintage scents while doing something different than any of them I've tried. Dusty, zesty, dewy, powdery, a little herbal. Wet petals and dried herbal tea, with just a liiittle whiff of baby wipes. Not predictable or forgettable by any means. In fact, it's kind of unusual. I'd almost group this in with Aromatics Elixir - intriguing, rather old-fashioned herbal scent I don't necessarily want to wear, but appreciate for its uniqueness. I dig that Hiram Green used some extremely out-of-fashion notes for this instead of blindly regurgitating whatever was trendy. You're a real one Hiram!

I was not expecting the very recognizable smell of carnations to be so amazing and fresh. I get no lipstick or powder vibes. There is a light spice similar to cloves or cinnamon and although it's barely discernable, provides a bit of sharpness and freshness where the scent would otherwise go in a distinctly floral direction. I can barely smell the Orris Root but do sense some earthy notes that are reminiscent of hay. The violet is similarly muted. This is one of my favorites in the collection. Moon Bloom, the other floral, is similarly delicate, and composed so thoughtfully with great restraint, but despite the superior natural ingredients used in Hiram Green fragrances, it is very hard to do a Tuberose and Jasmine fragrance that doesn't smell like at least 50 other compositions out there. Notwithstanding, I am considering adding both to my collection.

Enjoyable modern interpretation of violets. Vivacious is slightly sweet, but not in the often cloying violet candied way. It's much brighter and a little playful with a sort of innocence to it. Clean and with an unbridled sense of joie de vivre. However, there is a spicy twist with the carnations that reminds me of some of the old school Nina Riccis. Think about the spicyness of L’Air du Temps. It’s all about interpretation, but without the vintage-vibe and this is also where it differs from the heavily powdered violet Guerlains like L’Heure Bleue and Apres L’onde (I still love them, but cannot wear them myself). The scent is indeed vivacious and I like it, though it isn't really my type of scent. I find it intriquing, because it gives new life to some flowers considered oldfashioned and I do think it will be perfect in spring.

I got this as a free sample when I purchased Moon Bloom, as it was the only Hiram Green I hadn't tried. I had avoided it because I've dislike violet scents in the past - I was thinking of the typical candied violet scents that smell like parma violet sweets. I should have guessed that an all-natural composition would not have much in common with that very synthetic flavour. It's sweet (but in a soft, gentle way),very powdery in that root-y orris way, and gently spicy. It's notably more feminine, demure and "dainty" than my tastes normally lean and gives me a slight "grandma" feeling (I don't mean that in a disparaging way) - but I like it. And I'm always happy to expand my palate. I'm not in love with it, but it has made me reconsider my stance on violets and think I should really try L'Heure Bleue.

Bright and light, soft and long-lasting, from the green, jerky, metallic, sharp violet leaves, I can tell that the protagonist is the powdery heliotrope and the same fine powdery, oily orris root, like cream, like fat, Continuously continuing, everywhere it goes is a lavender tone. The scent of jasmine on the top has a hint of milky sweetness at this time. After the carnation dries, the powder disperses and is no longer cool. Dispersed evenly all around, the iris character is pronounced, with a musky amber base adding a touch of nostalgia. I wouldn't compare Vivacious to similar 20th century classics like Soir de Paris, Apres l'Ondee, L'Heure Bleue, etc. Its relatives include Grossmith Shem - el- Nessim or Frederic Malle L'Eau d'Hiver.

violet, carnation, iris, powdery orris amber berg - pretty but something a bit off abt it... like too spicy from carnation or a plastic note - prob definitely the orris too- leathery dry dusty. Not a fave. So sad... was truly so excited for my HG samples but so far...? Glad I sampled & didn’t blind buy fb! Though all I’ve tried are *definitely* unique frags, diff from the generic crowd pleasers out there. Even vivacious a powdery floral I thought I’d ADORE based on accord graph, is so diff than expecting. Not a typical violet cosmetic powdery floral Truly the definition of niche. UPDATE: a few hours in and i have to say, its a VERY beautiful dry down. Kinda growing on me lol. much softer, rounded out a lot, still detectable @ 4-6hrs

Vivacious performs like a hybrid of Apres l'Ondee and L'Eau d'Hiver on my skin. It opens with hay and bergamot, dry, grassy and citrusy, like I am chilling with my friends in a barn, drinking lemonade. Then the violet dominates, powdery and slightly sweet, reminiscent of a vintage powder compact. Carnation and orris quickly come in to spice things up. It becomes earthy, spicy, which I think also makes the scent less old-fashioned. I sometimes get car-sick feeling with violet heavy fragrances but not Vivacious. A beautiful powdery floral scent that feels bright but not sharp, mature but not old.

I don't get any powder notes which is great. To me, it is very "dirty floral" with a slightly vintage vibe. Looking at the notes I would never expect to like it, but here I am adding this to the wishlist. To me, it smells more white floral, slightly indolic, and slightly leathery. I see a lot of comments about a makeup bag, and I get where they are coming from, but it is not so straightforward as let's say Narciso cubes or modern Guerlain. Violet note here is subtle and comes to play after 20 minutes. Overall this perfume does feel very natural and unique.

White Shoulders (unsure of the vintage) by Evyan smells almost 100% the same to me. I was shocked as I smelled WS for the first time a couple months ago and well after I’d purchased and heavily wore my Hiram Green. L’Heaure Bleu and Apres de Longee by Guerlain are darker and less floral to me. Wish I could see someone else make the comparison to White Shoulders so I know I’m not crazy. I think the rest top notes may have evaporated on the white shoulders and the base is the same as Vivacious, no carnation but heavy violet and iris

A strange one for me, but in a good way. The violet note is there, in a natural parma violet sort of way, but it's dominated by a tea, dry grass, and strangely salt water/sand note on me. Carnation and iris are there, but tucked away in the dry down. It wasn't at all what I was expecting from how it smells in the bottle, but I actually do really like it for Spring. Polite sillage, and lasts around 6h.

Beautiful and engaging. A clean, simple, fresh and uncluttered scent with a green opening of violet and bergamot. It evolves with an enthralling fresh carnation and gradually melts with iris butter. Here, the violet remains the protagonist and it is never sweet to my nose. Simple, balanced, but equally pleasant to wear. Lightweight, yet durable. Fulfilling.

Parma violet carrot cake with powdery carnation drydown. It's pleasant and inoffensive whilst managing to be slightly unusual. I enjoy it in the spring, but won't be buying a full bottle. 8h longevity, gentle projection.

Beautiful sweet carnation scent. Reminds me in spirit of JAR Golconda, which is spicier and more woodsy, but close enough that Vivacious hits the spot when I want to save what's left of my precious Golconda.

What's left on my silk blouse after a couple of hours is like walking into an idealized antiques barn in the countryside

it's a beautiful zinger! fresh petals, soapy florals, garnished citrus slices and a sprinkle of dried petals.

What a strange little thing this is . this starts out very much like Hay on me almost like Hay and mimosa . very raw and kind of like dryed fields in the summer , hay , green ,sunny summer,only a slight hint of Violet in here on my skin . which was the note i was after in this one . Yes it is slightly floral ,But most of all very natural and nature like .windsweapt fields in late summer. strong and long lasting on my skin . Not the kind of perfume i normaly wear , and i cant think of a good time to wear it eather . its almost to natural haylike almost almondy on my skin . Glad to test but will not be a thing for me . would say its unisex leaning feminin . If i have to compare this to another perfume it would be Tilleul D orsey .

I agree with others who voted, that this is a bit similar to Apres L'Ondee. It smells like a ye ole apothecary version of that. I get the violet, along with something that feels cold when I breathe it in. Like sniffing a patch of purple flowers frozen in the snow. There is a minty-sweet medicinal sap in there as well that throws it a little off balance for a brief period of time, like a shopping cart with one wobbly wheel--but in an endearing way, not in a bad way. I admire it. I think it's creative. While it doesn't project vivaciousness to me, it does feel kindly and benevolent in character because it reminds me of something used to heal.

Boy I really wanted to love this one but it just didn't work for me. I love Moon Bloom w/ a passion. I love the name of this perfume but for what ever the reason this reads masculine to me. There is a hay like quality at the 1st spray that is off putting. The violet comes in and it is pretty but then the harsh spice of the carnation takes over and it just destroys the sweetness of the violet. I know violet can have a sharp edge to it but this perfume keeps its edges and doesn't soften. I think a man could wear this but I do not find it feminine at all so it is a no for me.

One half sweet, minty-fresh powder; one half warm, floral amber. You're brushing your teeth while laying in a patch of sunlight on the hardwood floor of the sunroom. You didn't actively decide to brush your teeth on the floor of the sunroom, but the flowers on the tables caught your eye with their bright pops of color, and then the patch of sunlight on the floor looked so inviting, and now here you are. It's a relaxed late morning. You could just drowse here on the floor, like a cat, watching dust motes drift. If only you didn't have a mouthful of minty foam.

This is my least favourite fragrance of Hiram Green. It's a very feminine mature-leaning clean powdery floral. It smells too much of cleaning products. I do not get any amber at all sadly.

Not being a violet fan to begin with, Vivacious had an uphill battle from the start. I sprayed once on my inner wrist and my first instinct was "I hate it." However, within the span of 2 minutes it had settled enough that I had to take it back. I don't hate it, it is just unlike anything I've ever smelled before. Once the violet settled into a soft whisper instead of a shout, I almost get notes of anise/licorice which I quite like (perhaps that is the orris?). I don't think I would ever buy a full bottle of this but even I can tell (with my plebeian nose who likes Juicy Couture and Escada) that this is masterfully blended and of the highest quality. It smells sophisticated & elegant all while being incredibly unique and I am happy to have the sample in my collection as I can't seem to stop smelling my arm!

Wow wow wow. Gorgeous gorgeous scent. And the notes you see listed here are indeed all present. It's actually very easy to distinguish each of them which is a first for me (but this is the first natural perfume I've owned). You'll first smell bergamot and iris/orris (just smells like carrot to me) with only a hint of violet. My partner said it smelled like bergamot candy. The violet and carnation are front and center after about 30 minutes and are heavenly. Smells glittery, bright, spicy and just a little smoky. Amber is there too, but as a supporting player. This honestly is a very special fragrance. I feel it melting away my stress. I love violets; didn't think I could love them anymore but Hiram Green proved me wrong. Well done.

Light and lovely from the start, I do get the impression that this is indeed a natural perfume, but surely there must be a number of isolates here, as there is a sheered-out quality that would be hard to accomplish using just essential oils and solvent-extracted absolutes. I do pick up what seems to be carnation absolute beyond the plangent violet accord, similar to that of....Apres L'Ondee. Apres L'Ondee, hmm, this makes me want to wear that instead, sit with it, and pat this on the head and say "well done", but it's not you, it's me. I want that heartache with mixed media and that sweet, sweet Guerlainade.

This one is not a star on my skin. At the beginning I get little bits of bergamot and violet but too quickly the carnation takes over and dominates everything else. And now that the carnation has calmed down, there is very little else left. Perhaps this shouldn't be too surprising considering all the previous reviewers likening it to Guerlain. That house has never done well on my skin either though I have tried the big hitters from Shalimar, Mitsouko, Samsara, and more going forward. I'd say that this one has too much Guerlain going for it. Thankfully I have only a small free sample of it.

A very soapy/dusty orris note on top of dry wood. I don't get much violet at all if i'm being honest. No greenness, none of the typical violet ionones you'd expect. This is all carnation, orris and amber. There's something in this fragrance that makes me think of hay. Like if you were in a barn and smelled a pile of hay. Kind of dry, dusty, a little animalic, a little sweet. Definitely not something i'd wear but i don't hate the scent. If you like the smell of hay i think you'll dig this. Smells unisex to my nose, maybe a tad femme.

I absolutely adore this one, and I don't get why they are discontinuing it! On my skin, Vivacious turns into a green floral bomb, that doesn't get too powdery or old-school. I can pick up the Carnation and Orris, but I feel like there are some other florals in here that I cannot pinpoint. That combined with the herbaceous green created a sort of herbal/green tea accord which I love. The projection and longevity is not that great but the scent is easily a 10. Super natural, super soothing, amazing work!

Sadly discontinued, this is another example of handcrafted excellence from Hiram Green. A combination of just a few notes, the violet shrinks behind a good dose of spicy carnation, orris adds softness while amber adds a hint of warmth. While many Perfumeheads seek the modern, the edgy, the abstract, etc.. Vivacious invites a fragrance lover to go back to a time of simple pleasures in perfumery...fresh from the garden florals with a smidgen of rooty splendor. Wears softly on the skin. ✨

A beautiful vintage style floral fragrance that focus on the powdery cold violet. I don't detect the bergamot in the opening, it opens straight up with the violet note. In addition, there is a prominent spicy clove like carnation note that is always present as well as an earthy rooty orris note. The overall scent is cold, powdery, earthy and spicy at the same time. The violet here is not as sweet as you can find it in the other violet fragrances.

This fragrance focuses more on the iris than violet. I expected a typical violet-powdery aroma, but to my surprise, it was unlike anything I've ever smelled before. I get almost a hay note in this fragrance. The carnation and cloves in the dry down takes over the bright and fruity opening, which gets quite spicy and musky. Vivacious is more about iris than violet on my skin, with spicy carnation - I think it's this clove / star anise accord that gives a vintage vibe to the fragrance. It really reminds of L'Heure Bleue (more likely the EdT version to me), but also Violet Blonde due to slight suede feeling. Beautiful composition, calm and cheerful at the same time, very nice modern take on classic theme.
