1904 Madame Butterfly Puccini Absolu EdP

I blind bought HdP's 1904 Madame Butterfly Puccini because I found it at a really good price and also thanks to the reviews here. I consider Prada's Infusion d'Iris one of my favourite summer fragrances, and I hugely appreciate iris in perfumery so I thought this perfume would be a safe bet. 1904 is everything that I expected Nicolai's Iris Medici to be; a dry, papery iris lifted by bitter white florals on a clean and elegant musk base - no sugar nor vanilla. It does smell exactly like Infusion d'Iris at first sniff, and also before comparing the two. However, with each fragrance on either wrist, I notice that where Infusion d'Iris is brighter, cleaner, and soapier, 1904 is warmer and softer; comforting and sensible as opposed to cool and refreshing, yet they are still strangely the same scent for the first 30 minutes. In many ways, 1904 also reminds me of a muted and hazy iteration of Diptych's Fleur de Peau, with a similar development of shockingly dry, dusty top notes finally settling to a clean and sensual musk. But when I say hazy I mean that 1904 is the version that has been heavily smudged with Vaseline over a camera lens. It is also so quiet and so gentle that I truly question why it has been named an absolu eau de parfum, though I can wholeheartedly appreciate the possible use of quality raw materials in this formula over synthetics that guarantee lasting power. Having said that, 1904 does have surprisingly impressive longevity lasting well over 12 hours on my skin - about ten times that of Prada - by which time the elegant iris has settled to a beautiful and comforting, musk, much like that of Narciso Rodriguez, growing more intense and creamy with time. This is one fragrance that blooms and lasts better on my skin than on clothing. You would need to overspray this to the max in order for anyone to notice the dry iris opening, which is why I am happy at not having paid full retail price, but the musk drydown has the tenacity to gently fill a room. Overall, I do find 1904 to be a beautiful scent, and I am happy that I have it in my collection.

I feel fresh banana sense at first. getting more powdery, sweet, like a baked cake.

This scent has 3 stages for me. The first blast is a magical, mega orris that initially smells like carrots, roots, and earth- à la Iris Silver Mist. It quickly mellows into a more “perfumey” orris note with the addition of heliotrope. This ephemeral combo produces a lovely cosmetic scent and I see where it reminds people of Lipstick On. But it’s gone in a flash, and enters the last and final stage way too soon. Neroli, musk and sandalwood become prominent and I am reminded so much of L’Instant Magic and Prada’s Infusion d’Iris at this point. It’s a very dry, citrusy powdery- cream drydown. Similar to Nivea cream, but not as cold- the orris is keeping it a bit on the warmer side. I agree with others that it feels odd and disharmonious- like the three phases are meant to be separate fragrances altogether. I totally dig the beginning and mid stages, but I much prefer Lipstick On. If you love L’instant Magic you will probably enjoy this.

This was a blind-buy, and I find it to be a bit of an oddball fragrance that just feels disjoined. You get a blast of that startchy, grey, orris root powder scent for just a minute or so before the fragrance soon becomes a simple creamy heliotrope, devoid of any of that marvelous orris that you get at first. Why is it always like that with orris? It reminds me of a much less interesting version of Boy by Chanel. I wouldn't recommend this unless a simple creamy heliotrope is truly all you seek. And you can also find that at a much more reasonable price with Fragonard's Heliotrope Gingembre, which is also IMHO a better fragrance. The blast of orris root in the beginning is like a cheap thrill. Not really enough of a thrill for the boring drydown.

زنبق شاداب مادام باتر فلای، عطری از هنرنمایی و غوغای زنبقه. یه رایحه ی زیبا، یه عصاره ی گرونقیمت و در نهایت، احساسی از آرامش و لذت و درخشش که با حسی از اعتماد بنفس و قدرت همراهه. 1904، عطری از زنبقه، با حالتی شاداب، تازه، شفاف و آبدار. کمی خامه ای، شیرین و مخملی. لایه های خنک و تازه از مرکبات، مثل نسیمی ملایم در این فضا به حرکت در میان و درخشش و تازگی کار رو دو چندان میکنن. زنبق، در بیشتر زمان نمایشش، نشاط و سرزندگی خودش رو حفظ میکنه. اما هرچه از عمر عطر میگذره، مشک تازه و تمیز و کمی پودری در کنار هلیو تروپ نرم و کمی شیرین، چهره ی زنبق رو به سمت پختگی، تعمق و متانت میبرن و حالتی پودری-نشاسته ای به اون میدن که با فرود در پایه ی ظریفی از صندل ترد و سدر دودی، این پختگی و بلوغ کامل میشه. زنبق پودری، متین و حالا دنیا دیده که بر بستری نرم، مخملی، کمی ترد و کمی دودی، آرام گرفته. آرام، موقر و فاخر اما همچنان با چهره ای بشاش، لبخندی گیرا و چشمانی درخشان و پر تلألوء. 1904، نمایشی پرشور و دوست داشتنی از زنبقه که از شروع تا انتها، با صلابت حضور داره و همگان رو از رایحه ی آشنا، اما فاخر و پرنشاط خودش بهره مند میکنه. مثل یه نسیم بهاری از قلب طبیعت باران خوردست که در یه شامگاه اردیبهشت، از دشتها و مزارع و باغها، از گلها و شکوفه ها و جوانه ها، جریانی از آرامش، شکوه و تأمل رو تقدیم دنیا میکنه... این رایحه ی طبیعی و ناب، موندگاری 5 تا 6 ساعته و پخشی قابل قبول در ساعات نخست داره. کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل
