Fidelis

I bought the 15mL size sprayette direct from Histoires de Parfums on their website. All I can say is WOW. This is absolutely captivating. Such a gorgeous take on an oud scent. Blended perfectly. Julien Rasquinet has done something really special with this DNA. Spicy Eastern notes up top with saffron and cardamom while the coffee note takes more of a backseat. It is not a sweet, synthetic smelling coffee, but more realistic dark roasted whole bean. Raspberry isn't overly present but provides an underlying soft tone of fruity sweetness. The Laotian oud provides a strong base, it is slightly bitter and rubbery but very pleasant smelling. Rose is intertwined with the oud but never steals the spotlight. They mingle together perfectly. The patchouli in this fragrance is DELICIOUS. Straight up rounded and chocolatey goodness. The combination of the coffee, raspberry's soft sweetness, and the chocolate patchouli notes remind me of a freshly baked chocolate cake with a drizzle of raspberry ganache over top. Longevity is certified eternal at 12+ hours, sillage is explosive. One small spray to the back of my hand and I was getting huge whiffs for 10 hours as it settles into a strong skin scent and lingers past the 12 hour point. Definitely a statement maker. People will be able to smell you coming. Must wear this one with confidence. Honestly mindblowing. I love this. I've never smelled anything like this but judging my reaction to it I know I have to get my nose on Frederic Malle's The Moon. Quickly becoming one of my favorites. I also have to put in a side note of appreciation for the packaging. Even the sprayette came in a multi-dimensional box with an folding top with beautiful Art Deco inspired graphics on outside and the inside panels. The bottle is solid metal and a brilliant Rose gold. It may not matter to most but I really geek out over presentation. EDIT: Now that I've worn this on my skin and let my thoughts develop, I love this fragrance. To me, I struggle to find one negative thing about Fidelis. Now that I have more experience with this fragrance I definitely get the cumin note but only briefly in the opening. It quickly settles from Middle Eastern spice into the rubbery Laotian Oud and rose note with a heavy dose of sweetness from the raspberry. The patchouli in combination with these notes round out the fragrance and add a chocolatey depth. Absolutely delicious. Every once in a while you come across a fragrance that is truly a work of art. Fidelis is one of those. Hats off to Julien Rasquinet. Such a uniquely beautiful fragrance. 10/10.

Red velvet!! I took my time with this one because it's not an easy fragrance to review.. This fragrance brings together gourmand with heavy oriental with such a beautiful way! It has a velvety effect, some say dustiness but to me it gives the feeling of red velvet! This has the the raspberry which is big here and delicious in contrast with the oud and the saffron that bring something oriental to the scent. The coffee is here but it's in the background with the smokey amber and the spices. This is comprered to "the moon" which is another creation of Julien Rasquinet, in my opinion these two are related but not the same. The moon has more pronounced oud, rose and goes into a more woody, oriental way. On the other hand Fidelis is going more semi-gourmand direction but they share a lot. In my opinion you can't replace the one with the other but if you like one you will like the other! Performance is amazing, it keeps going easily for 12++ hours after a shower or the next day with great projection! I find it easy to pull of in the cold, day or night but you have to control your sprays. It's not the fragrance that will give you a lot of compliments but it will get attention and i find it unisex. Overall, when you talk about niche perfumery this is what comes in mind. A fragrance that is different, creative, unique, with great quality and amazing preformance! This is not an easy blind buy, it may not appeal to everybody but that's the beauty of this hobby!

I shouldn't be compared to The Moon, but you'll tell it's made by the same hands. Now, as much as I don't like comparing one fragrance to another, it is important to take reference from another fragrance to have a general idea where does it fall from and to. Sure, this guy goes to the same bar as The Moon, Interlude, Oud Aquilaria and a few others, but they order different drinks. This guy its own animal, and is a good one. The coffee is prominent on top. Not your sweet creamy Intense Cafe coffee, but your fresh grind coffee bean. It stays strong well blended with the saffron and cardamom. Then the cardamon takes over to unfold the red carpet for the rose, raspberry and the oud. The coffee stays in the background, never really fading, with the other species. In the end, the patchouly and amber work as cheerleaders for the oud, who is still dressed up with that rose and raspberry, being the center of attention. It is a very strong one. Three sprays will take you for an eight to ten hour ride with strong projection. Shouldn't be this difficult to find. Do recommend for a fall and winter night at formal gathering.

A dusty (thanks to the saffronn, cummin and cardomon), chocolate, espresso coffee. A touch bright rose at first too, turns slightly vinegary, slightly balsamic then the oud appears after 5 minutes. There is interplay for the first hour or two but by three hours or so it settles to a dusty dark coffee with oud and nose to skin a bit of chocolate. At this point it’s more of a gourmand for me so I can only feel most reviews here represent an early snapshot of its performance. At this point 4 hours in it looses its strong scent bubble though it is not by any means a skin scent rather it’s just for people in an inappropriate pre Covid social distance lol. It also resembles Pierre Guillaumes new Anti Blues and vaguely Sambaka though darker and deeper in dusty browness. I am happy with my blind purchase and whilst this is a better scent than some alternatives for the price I take offence to suggestions this is one of the best in the HDP line up - it isn’t! 1828 and 1899 Ernest Hemmingway (as a Spicebomb, Initio Rehab, Man in Black, Liqour Charnelle and Divine Vanille copy) are class leading.

Fidelis is the fragrance equivalent of The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour". It's simply fantastic. Such a compelling blend of gorgeous scents. Opens with a stunning blend of coffee mixing with cardamom. Add in some earthy, leathery saffron and it's a heady start. Some people find the opening to be too much, but I love it. It's just an explosion of scent. You also get the sweet softness of rose and raspberry joining in after a couple of minutes, but they're subdued and never become overly sweet or jammy, in any way. Delicate touch. That gorgeous soft sweetness carries into the drydown where oud, patchouli and especially amber provide the base of the fragrance. Such an incredible blend. It just never stops being mysterious and alluring. I hate to use the phrase "beast mode" for such a beautiful fragrance, but that is what it is. Outstanding projection, sillage and longevity! This is a 12 hour parfum with 3 hours of projection and a sillage trail that will turn heads. Perfectly unisex. Fidelis Five Scale Rating: ⨷⨷⨷⨷1⁄4

Interlude Black Iris Vs Fidelis. I have seen people comparing Fidelis with Interlude. Here i will compare with Black Iris. If i keep it short, Take interlude and add coffee+Cardamom+sweetness you will get Fidelis. I find the background for both to be same, that smokey dustiness is present in both of them. 1. Do they smell similar? No. 2. Is the texture of both similar? Yes. 3. Will one remind you of another? Yes. 4. What is the similarity? The dusty smoky background. 5. Which one is stronger? Well, both are obviously beast mode but i find Fidelis a little stronger. 6. Which one is better? Depends on your taste. If you like sweet and gourmand scents then you may find Fidelis better for you. If you dont like sweet scents or coffee scents you may find Interlude Black Iris better. 7. Which one is a safer blind buy? None! Both are a bit daring and you need a little mature nose to appreciate them. If i have a gun on my head to pick one then i will pick Fidelis otherwise i enjoy both.

+ My sample of Fidelis arrived today and it was LOVE at first sniff! This is officially my favorite oud fragrance. The raspberry note is authentic-smelling and blended so well here that it doesn't stand out. I love the treatment of raspberry in this. Probably my favorite use of raspberry to date in fragrance. (Note: I generally hate fruity florals, esp fruity floral gourmands) I also smell a friendly oud (that's non-skanky probably synthetic) blended to perfection with coffee, saffron and spicy amber. I'm in love. You have to love oud to appreciate this one! The coffee and oud work so well together in this fragrance. It makes me happy. This perfume feels like a celebration! The drydown is very woody, dry, and masculine but I love this smell on myself and my partner too. Truly unisex. After wearing through my sample, I immediately went onto the perfumer's website and ordered a 60mL bottle. I love this one. Jan2021: reminds me of Jungle L'Elephant Kenzo

This is such an interesting fragrance. On first spray I went from loving it to hating it only ten minutes later. The opening is a fascinating blend of spicy and woody sweet elements but fast becomes ashy, like spent fire wood, almost unbearably so. The sweet elements still linger once everything smells burned up and it can be very perplexing. It stays this way for a while. But Fidelis really has grown on me, and each time I apply the scent, that overwhelming ash sensation feels more manageable; in fact I've grown to appreciate it. It does calm down eventually and then this blend really hits its stride, where the mix feels rightly balanced. Fidelis is such an enigma to my nose - I think I love it but I'm not sure that I'd ever break for a full bottle. Definitely worth sampling. If the trend line of my appreciation for this fragrance keeps up, then I might pick up a bottle if I'm looking for something different than my usual shelf.

Fidelis - A rose gold with coffee break Histoires de Parfums Fidelis is a fragrance of two different faces. One is a supreme blend, and the other is an uninspiring lack of creativity, but I still love both. It is very similar to expensive Frederic Malles The Moon. Same perfumer, Julien Rasquinet. Masterpiece. Very strong and long lasting. The only difference with The Moon is that the moves towards raspberry and Fidelis goes in a coffee direction, This one will last solid 8+ hours on skin. The moon will last probably 12+ hours. Here are my 5 quick takes: - The best spicy opening of all time - A woody oriental fragrance with great longevity - Created by Julien Rasquinet in 2015 - Best used during winter as a leisure and clubbing scent - Rose-oud mix with soft chocolate raspberry cake sitting in a leather pouch feeling.

My God, this is wonderful. Coffee, rose just present in the background, sweet, almost chocolate raspberry confection. Masculine but modern masculine. Women can wear this im sure of it. Long lasting for hours and well structured. A new staple in my collection and a top 10 perhaps top 5 for me. I don't care, ill wear this whenever. But recommended for cooler days and nights. Edit: couldn't have just one review. Splendid in every way. The rose is placed just right, where it blends other parts of the fragrance together. It isn't the star or focus, yet has its place. Longevity is remarkable, though my bottle is a few years old and has matured/macerated. This sits just outside my top 5 and creeps closer every wear.

Fidelis is so luxurious, dark and beautiful. It has all been said already. Fidelis has it all, it is spicy, mysterious, gourmand, rich and warm. I try to avoid rose, but it doesn't bother me at all here. It's just a minor aspect that adds a bit of class. But hey, most Hdp releases seem to be quite classy and expensive smelling, don't they? Truly unisex - could be experienced as quite feminine on a woman and more masculine on a man as it has both aspects and manges to still gently balance right in the middle. I love those rare scent that manges to pull off being genuinely unisex without feeling like it's missing something. Hdp did that perfectly with Ambre 114 as well. It's a love from me ❤️

Starts off spicy with cardamom,saffron and cumin and a greenish coffee vibe, pre roast. Then rspberry and rose come into to add softness and sweetness, then an hour in the oud, amber and patchouli come in. It morphs and changes a lot and is high quality ingredient wise with superb blending so hard to get exact notes as it melds so well. I do get interlude but in the far drydown. Sometimes the drydown reminds me of interlude, sometimes it reminds of red velvet cake almost like a raspberry ripple gourmand cake. Seriously the fragrance is different almost everytime i wear and i pick out different nuances each time - amazing and keeps you guessing. Fall/winter staple!

I'm a total newbie to the world of fragrance so my nose can't detect individual notes as well as others! On first spray I found this to be very smokey? For anyone who has ever had a Polish/Eastern European Christmas compote, that is EXACTLY what it smelled like to me! Dried smokey fruits. To my nose it also smelled like the opening notes of Bois d'Ascese. When it settles down the perfume becomes sweeter and smoother, I sprayed it on my clothes and could still smell it a few days later (and I'm sure it would still be there if I hadn't washed them!) It's a lovely unisex fragrance, leaning maybe slightly more feminine on dry down, for colder weather.

HDP really excels at these types of fragrances and this is no exception. This is spicy cardamom coffee over a bed of saffron, patchouli, rose, oud and amber. The raspberry gives it a touch of sweetness. I love this one, and it's worthy of a perfect score, but the coumin is a bit challenging in the heart. Otherwise, I'd say this nearly a perfect fragrance every measurable. Even though this isn't a gourmand, it smells good enough to eat. Excellent perfumery. Scent 8.8/10 Performance 7.5/10

Oooh, now this is right up my street! Slightly gourmand coffee/fruit/oud opening, warm, indulgent without being too opulent. Drying to mid and base with a classic rose/cumin/saffron/smokey oud. The mid and base to me is a comfortable version of Amouage Interlude Man minus the oregano, just cosier. Yes individual parts of this have been done many times before, but as a whole it's a beautiful fragrance, perfectly blended and smooth, and backup bottles will be purchased!

I simply love how elegant and almost understated this is. it's strong for sure, being a oud-centered fragrance, but how each note is crafted is pure magic, they all reach the perfect pitch in a beautiful symbiosis. The oud is ever so slightly animalic but smooth. The coffee is bitter and never too sweet. And the raspberry might be one of the most genuine raspberry note I've ever experienced in a fragrance : tart, a bit of sugar, but not over the top.

This fragrance is beautiful to me. It is a lovely unique oriental. It is very rich smelling, and also long lasting. I very love this perfume. I smell the oud and the coffee the most. And I do not really smell the raspberry note. This scent is reminds me of By Kilian Pure Oud. My mother said, that it's similar of the vintage Opium (I have not tried that, so I don't know). But Fidelis is definitely a really good perfume.

considering you can find a masterpiece like this floating around on discounters for £60-£70 and on some occasions around £50, it really puts the current designer market to shame. you'd be surprised what niche gems you can find for brilliant sub-designer prices if you just look. i'd happily pay the £150 retail for this and wouldnt regret it.
