H&M Formentera

I bought a lot of the h&m perfumes when they came out, but sold most of them since I felt most of them were a bit meh. Maybe I just tried the wrong ones. But this, together with the Cashmere one, is my favorite out of the range. It smells a lot like the sap when you break of a stem of plants. That milky sap. I've never smelled a fig tree, since it is not something you grow where I live. But I feel a bit transported to the meditteranean sea when wearing it. I can imagine what it would smell like, even though the fragrance might not smell like a real fig tree at all. I don't get the blood mentioned, but it's true there might be something metallic in it. To me it doesn't translate to blood though. But the dirt I get a little, and I don't mind it at all since I kind of like earthy scents. Refreshing in the summer! Btw, to me it smells nothing like Philosykos. Philosykos is also a green scent, but Formentera is much more green imo. This is only crushed leaves and dirt, Philosykos is that but together with a wonderful fig and coconut.

I love the smell of this, it's a fresh and fruity scent without being overly sweet. It doesn't have great performance, i can only smell it for about 2 hours after use, but it's not expensive so i don't mind

Very high quality fragrance with fig and nice green accords!!!!

Comparisons to other fig-based scents are inevitable when encountering a new scent where fig plays the starring role. I am a big fan of other fig-based scents such as Fico di Amalfi, Philosykos, Pulp and The Body Shop's Italian Summer fig, and they essentially function as the metric from which I have considered Formentera. Formentera is a wonderful scent where fig dominates the top and middle notes. The fig contained therein isn't as complex or rounded as that found in Philosykos, but for the price I can certainly forgive this minor shortcoming. After the fig subsides, we are left with a cedar and a slightly musky base, both of which provide a very stable foundation that lasts a decent amount of time. Formentera doesn't smell particularly synthetic, but as noted above, it does lack the depth and complexity of more expensive fig scents. Regarding longevity, I get about 3-5 hours where it is noticeable, and then for the remaining couple hours of its life, it leaves behind a nice woody trail. Overall, Formentera is an absolute delight and another winner from H&M's recent releases. For the price ($18/2.5 ozs) and the EDT concentration, this is a risk worth taking and a really nice fig perfume when you're in the mood, but don't want to use "the good stuff."
