H&M Formentera

I bought a lot of the h&m perfumes when they came out, but sold most of them since I felt most of them were a bit meh. Maybe I just tried the wrong ones. But this, together with the Cashmere one, is my favorite out of the range. It smells a lot like the sap when you break of a stem of plants. That milky sap. I've never smelled a fig tree, since it is not something you grow where I live. But I feel a bit transported to the meditteranean sea when wearing it. I can imagine what it would smell like, even though the fragrance might not smell like a real fig tree at all. I don't get the blood mentioned, but it's true there might be something metallic in it. To me it doesn't translate to blood though. But the dirt I get a little, and I don't mind it at all since I kind of like earthy scents. Refreshing in the summer! Btw, to me it smells nothing like Philosykos. Philosykos is also a green scent, but Formentera is much more green imo. This is only crushed leaves and dirt, Philosykos is that but together with a wonderful fig and coconut.

I love the smell of this, it's a fresh and fruity scent without being overly sweet. It doesn't have great performance, i can only smell it for about 2 hours after use, but it's not expensive so i don't mind

Very high quality fragrance with fig and nice green accords!!!!

Comparisons to other fig-based scents are inevitable when encountering a new scent where fig plays the starring role. I am a big fan of other fig-based scents such as Fico di Amalfi, Philosykos, Pulp and The Body Shop's Italian Summer fig, and they essentially function as the metric from which I have considered Formentera. Formentera is a wonderful scent where fig dominates the top and middle notes. The fig contained therein isn't as complex or rounded as that found in Philosykos, but for the price I can certainly forgive this minor shortcoming. After the fig subsides, we are left with a cedar and a slightly musky base, both of which provide a very stable foundation that lasts a decent amount of time. Formentera doesn't smell particularly synthetic, but as noted above, it does lack the depth and complexity of more expensive fig scents. Regarding longevity, I get about 3-5 hours where it is noticeable, and then for the remaining couple hours of its life, it leaves behind a nice woody trail. Overall, Formentera is an absolute delight and another winner from H&M's recent releases. For the price ($18/2.5 ozs) and the EDT concentration, this is a risk worth taking and a really nice fig perfume when you're in the mood, but don't want to use "the good stuff."

This is a really nice, straightforward green fig scent. Definitely got the smell of a garden after summer rain - it's not just the figs, they come together with woody and herbal notes and a non-marine, very fresh aqua note. It goes from a strong sillage to a skin scent in an hour or so but stays noticeable - the skin scent is a quiet woody and fig peel smell. Really lovely for a light, spring/summertime scent - especially when considering the price; I'd happily recommend this as a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive fig fragrances like Diptyque's Philosykos. As scents at the same price point go, the Body Shop had a fig fragrance a year or so ago that unfortunately I think is discontinued now, and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone searching for that one too.

Weak but very pleasant clean-green, lightly coniferous sort of EdT. Synthetic, but soft enough not to cloy and to be wearable even for those usually leery of greens. Doesn't turn to synthetic laundry-conditioner musk, either. Definitely no bitter galbanum or grungy rotting-reed notes in here. Longevity is poor, but overall - like so many of this year's H&M offers - it's really quite charming and SO much better than it has any right to be at this tiny price point. It won me over! Smell of a short, sunny interlude in spring parkland.

If you crush flowers with stalks and all in your hand it smells just as bitter as this. Too green for my taste but still it's well done, they captured the green leaves note perfectly. Reminds me a little of Clean Lovegrass but without the extreme- almost choking bitterness.

A very unique scent - not one I wear often, but when I do, it's when I want something that smells very natural and herbal. Its leafiness-without-sweetness makes it stand out from other scents in my collection.

I only get the milky fig and a little bit of greenness. Or milky oolong. If you like that scent, you'll like this too. Sadly, I don't.

A nice scent but unfortunately gives me a headache.

Very occasionally I've experienced a fig fragrance turn horribly rubbery on me, usually when combined with sandalwood, but not always. This one unfortunately does that, and it's all I can smell :(

I sniffed a couple HM scents yesterday for the first time. It was in store and I couldn't test them properly on myself, only a few spritzs on my arms. I came here to find and repeat the comment below - the opening does reminds me a lot of Un Jardin En Mediterranee by Hermes, which I'm very familiar with since I LOVE Hermes perfume DNA - green, herbal, mossy, woody aromatics, earthy yet fresh. Diptyque Philosykos feels somewhat similar, but it's way out of my budget, so I'd rather avoid it altogether :D Imagine my shock when I just read that this HM scent is done by Olivier Pescheux, who also works for Diptyque! So... Now that I'm out of any Jardins, I was looking or replacements (I'm almost sure I won't find them, but it feels so wrong to buy the same scents over again having a limited budget, you always want to be surprised I guess). Such scents are often ephemeral and not the top performers, but most of the time I can't stand acidic fruity notes (sour!) and "foody" vanilla (primitive and cloying if worn for long). Trust me, leaving these out makes finding an accessible yet interesting perfume very hard. So I'm very grateful to HM for having this in their lineup. Ever since they relaunched their cosmetic line, I keep noticing - they hired people who have taste, actually, a diversity of tastes! I'm glad the newer generation of shoppers can become familiar with these scents. As I mentioned I can't fully assess the quality, but when I kept smelling my arms later in the day I still could feel it. Given how difficult it is to make such perfume last, I don't have too big of expectations. They cost around eur14.99 per EDT I think, so you can just toss one in your bag and keep smelling expensive (the irony!). But coincidentally recently I have been on the hunt for nice smells disregarding the longevity (if it's at least decent) - I need something for a couple hours when I run errands in the heat, go for a workout etc. And oh my, I'm so happy to discover HM range of body mists, roller ball essences and affordable EDTs. I will definitely get a few and give them some real reviews. Do check it out!

First of all: The whole H&M fragrance thing is amazing . Huge range - something for anybody. Prices are amazing, the bootles are cute and original , and the fragrances are to die for. Im really so pleased. Lasting power, projection - A+ all over the line. Highly impressed and immediately bought 7 different. This smells like Florabotanica , but lighter more weak. It is very green but also has something very aromatic and almost medicin like in it which gives it personality. The same kind of medicin like undertone as in Thierry Mugler Aura . Well done !

I don't think there's anything odd in the composition, but it seems to act funny on my skin today. Opening: grassy with the tiniest bit of bitterness. Heart: soft, almost sweet. Something a little milky, as if cutting through the skin of a plant and squeezing out a bit of the juice inside. I'm guessing something in it short-circuits my nose, because it sometimes seems to vanish, but then always re-appears. Drydown: Metallic, bloody, dirt-like... then turns into a soft woodiness before I even notice, nearly floral.

I am in love with this. It reminds me of the afternoon sun, sitting on the beach somewhere in the wild. Among the fig leaves it smells like a soft trace of sunscreen that has managed to stay on your skin from noon. It also reminds me of the plastic inflatable ocean toy, it is somewhat plasticky and sticky, but in a good way. This works really well paired with minimal linen outfit, leather sandals and salty hair. Would love this on a man. Very wearable and office appropriate.

I blind bought this in an effort to find a perfume which would stand in for my beloved Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranee (another fig fragrance), but no can do. It has a soapy drydown which UJDM does not. And because I do not care for Formentara's drydown, I (of course) notice it lingering unbelievably. So it must have pretty good longevity. Looks like I am fated to buy multiple 8ml decants of Un Jardin en Mediterranee from the Perfumed Court!

Small unexpected path to a beautiful garden. I tried it passing by in H&M, never intending to buy it, and the green and sweet scent was a big surprise. Seeing on the box who made it, I must reconsider the way I was looking at it. It is a long and very nice fragrance, a smooth and spicy combo, not sugary at all. And even if I wouldn’t sell my soul for it, it would be a great pleasure to have it in my wardrobe.

If you're into fig perfumes check this one out. It's along the lines of Pacifica's fig but not as harsh and green. This one softens up and becomes quite powdery after the initial figgy blast and will leave a simple musk woody trail. I prefer a brighter citrus fig leaf scent like Rosabotanica or Jil Sander Green Fusion.

Snag this for 3,99€, what a steal! Really good creamy fig Leaf in the opening, I wish this could linger a little more, but the drydown is a soft flowery skinscent.

This smells very powdery and eerily similar to Infusion d'iris by Prada. Lasts 3-4 hours with weak to moderate sillage.
