So posting this here just to help anyone out that reads it. I picked up Hollister Jake - Sport cologne today for $15 in store for 50ML (its $15 in store or $15 online 50% off current colognes at the writing of this review if your interested). Its in a dark black bottle with red text/graphic. So dark you cannot shine a flash light through it to see how much is left. Theres blue/marine version in the blue bottle, then I guess this particular listing is for some old brown bottle version. They dont have the other 2 up yet. Very happy with this purchase since I bought it blind not having a reference on frag. Says Fresh and Energizing on the back of the box. Strong off the spray if your in a non ventilated room. Off the atomizer smells zesty, sporty, some citrus. After spraying it changes not 100% sure what Im smelling a little tiny bit of sweetness, some marine/woodiness? Still has some cirtus/zest in it. Dry down seems more woody, very slight sweet powdery smell. To me its just blended nicely with about 3-4 notes none really over powering one another. You cant really go wrong at $15 all around a SAFU spray for summers/spring doubt anyone would complain except if they are in a closed off room during the 1st couple sprays its pretty strong. To me for summer/warm/hot weather 8/10 rating. Value 9/10 (cause it was 50% off) Longevity seems like it dies off within 2 hrs, so might be a 4-5 sprayer if you need that long term projection. Just got it today so awaiting compliments or opinions in the future will update with any newer details

I love this stuff, this is my signature everyday scent and it smells awesome. Very fresh oceanic and mass appealing, nothing groundbreaking but to me it’s a very sexy clean yet rugged young and manly scent. It does have a men’s shower gel vibe but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. What you get is fresh sharp zingy citrus on top with a undertone of rugged beachy driftwood. Very simple in regards of scent and notes but Jake actually has a unique distinctive overall scent to it even tho it would be considered a “generic blue”. I’d wear this out as a gym/sport scent or for school, and casual days out with friends. Performance tho is Jakes downfall, literally projects for maybe 20 minutes then becomes a total skin scent. Longevity wise it’s pretty bad too, last me maybe 4-5 hours at most, overall I’d give it a 7/10.

As a grown woman, I’m definitely not the target demographic for Jake, but I love it. I’m sure it’s an imitation of a designer / much more expensive scent, and I have no issue with that—because it does an excellent job for its price point. I’ve always loved the idea of aquatic scents, but many of them rely on lemon + cedar to get that “fresh” dimension (a sour, sharp combination I can’t stand). This scent does not have that problem; it actually DOES smell aquatic and sweet and “blue.” I think it works well as a unisex fragrance. Only downside: it doesn’t last more than a hour or two.

I’m a little confused, I remember having this back in 2009 and it was a masculine scent and I just bought this at TJMAXX and the bottle is blue and it smells like nautica competition.. guess it’s not the same anymore!!

Almost like a clone of Curve pour homme by liz Claiborne. very good but a little overpriced for what it is. Good lime and mandarin notes over cedar i think. Lasts longer than i would expect. About 5 or 6 hours

Look like SOUL CURVE (Liz Claiborne). Its great, very nice cologne. Longevity 7/10 (6 hours) Scent 8/10 Projection 7.5/10

Actually ppl who still want this smell on a good brand can get polo no 4 fragrance it’s an orange bottle

I feel the new aqua di gio armani absolu is a perfect copy of this fragrance 99.9%

This was originally in a brown bottle, but they no longer sell it in a brown bottle, but a blue bottle. I’ve seen others state that they also changed the formula (maybe around the same time they changed the bottle color). I’ve had the brown bottle back in the early 2000’s and can’t tell a difference with the smell between that and this newer blue bottle, however it does seem like it is weaker now. It’s the exact same smell as the Hollister store smell. If you ever walked through their stores in the late 90’s-2010, then that is the smell that they were pumping through their store (Not sure if the stores still smell like that. Haven’t been in a Hollister store in 15 years). I bought my bottle directly from Holister’s website. The scent is actually awesome. It probably resonates a bit better for teenagers, but it’s a great frag. The downside is that the longevity is nearly nothing and I’m someone who thinks most fragrances are strong and I can often still smell them days later. Jake is like 45 minutes on the best possible scenario and probably closer to 20-30 minutes on average. It’s basically water. Even just the scent close up on the skin or clothing is very weak after 15 minutes. If they made this with longevity for a couple of hours, I’d recommend it to everyone.

I know it's eau de cologne, and therefore I should not have expected any outstanding performance at all. But, I was still really disappointed about its zero longevity and sillage. Not even half an hour on skin for me. I actually decided to just use it on my clothes so I could smell it a little bit more time. With that out of the way, oh that smell. It blew me away. This is what comes to mind when I think about aquatic fragrances. Picture yourself on top of a nice classy sailboat stranded in the most beautiful Mediterranean landscape. This is what that smells like. I literally don't even use it as much as fragrance, because I know it's not very useful as that. I have it on my shelf though to sniff it almost everyday and remember that beautiful scent. This fragrance is literally what I'd like my house to smell like. I think Hollister changing the in-store scent to another one was a huge mistake, since this is just beautiful. Worth the money? Not as a fragrance (18 eur for 30 ml), but yes for smelling that alone. 7/10.

Jake by hollister expensive for what its really worth, but its perfect for the beach!! i dont really have much to say aboutthis one except its a good cheapy, projection isnt that bad, it doesnt last, and its for morecitrus and wood the only notes in this which are sof a younger guy, as soon as i spray it i get more woody notes then citrus notes but 5-15 minutes later the citrus takes over but there is still woody notes, the drydown is just the citrusy and woodsy notes blended together for that perfect beach scent, this only lasts about 4 hours this entire fragrance i was dissapointed Ratings Longevity- 1.8/10.. doest even last 4 hours actually.. very dissapointed it smells great :( Projection- 6.8/10 not bad but you might need to be a bit close to a person for them to smell you. overall smell 7.9/10 overall 5.3/10 Hope this helped

I used to work at HCo. This was a really good selling men's fragrance. At my location it was more popular than the infamous Socal for men fragrance. Alot of men wouldn't even look at the clothes, but would only come in just to buy the bottle of Jake. Whereas socal is more fresh and clean, Jake has more depth and I can see alot more range in the ages of men who can use and enjoy this scent. It's a sexy spiced woodsy scent. A crowd pleaser forsure. It surprised and impressed alot of people who casually tried the tester while waiting by the register. I recommend if you want to try a more sexy and masculine fragrance. Note: This is NOT the scent that's sprayed all over in the store, that one is called Socal for men.

This originally came in the brown bottle, and as a kid I remember my father wearing this. He would wear it out to car events or to dinner in the summer. It never lasted long in either bottle. When I was in highschool, I got a brown bottle, then a blue bottle when that came out. This scent doesn't last long but it holds great memories, and when it was available, it was a great deal at 2x.xx$ per bottle. I still have half a bottle of the blue (I never could really tell a difference in blue and brown) and I like wearing it to grab something to eat or something similar on summer afternoons specifically. Good overall scent, would recommend if they ever come back out with it and prices drop!

If you're after a girl who wears Hollister, you'll want to look into this cologne. It smells like their stores and is an embodiment of the brand. It's made for the summer surfer dude who is all about longboarding shirtless down California streets and might need to hide his other herbal, smokey colognes. This EDC has a nice spicy aroma. The delivery of this aroma, though, is the only downfall. It starts out strong. The sillage booms from the start but fades quickly not too far from the gate. I apply three shots to the chest and it projects well for about 2 hours then stays close to the skin for another 2-4. This is a good cologne for the price tho if you use it for the right events

Somewhat underrated I suppose. The scent was very pleasant to my nose; I like most things woody and fresh it seems. This scent has those as well as a nice citrus element. On the smell alone, I love it. That being said, as others have mentioned the longevity and sillage leave much to be desired. Driving to work, I noticed my car air-freshener was stronger than my fragrance. I can still get a hint of it from time to time as the day wears on but this was no where near the strength I was hoping for.

This is another great example of the A&F and Hollister scents. They smell AMAZING, I mean amazingly amazing BUT!!! They hardly last any time at all. This is a major shame as they would have real classics that would sell in the millions but just get ruined by major lack of longevity. Please, please, please sort it out Hollister. It wouldn't hurt too much! Results: Scent: 8/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 3/10

Idk why the bottle is brown in this when it’s blue now. It’s a great beginner friendly fragrance. very fresh reminds me of california. which i think is what it’s supposed to be like. performance is alright. not really natural lots of synthetic notes. Overall 6.5/10

I have an old brown bottle and a brand new blue bottle of this. It's pretty true to the original, although much weaker. The original bottle starts out overwhelming but dries down to a very pleasant scent.

Normal "men's" cologne scent. The woods and blue cologne scents are prominent and the citrus stands out. It is pretty strong in the high heat and I would say it is a great first cologne.

I like this scent. It's a tad bit unusual in my opinion. To me, this stuff smells like rootbeer and wood...with a hint of citrus. I get compliments every time I wear! :) God bless! 7/10

my nephew requested this as a Christmas present last year, (he's 16.) he is very impressed with this scent and it smells nice on him. clean, simple, a good fragrance for a young man.

I have the older formulation of this in the brown bottle and it still lasts as long as it did back then. Definite crowd pleaser that will turn heads wherever you go.

Sucks that they discontinued this one. Was like a lighter weaker version of Azzaro Chrome Extreme or Aqua Di Gio Profondo (2020). Was a good out the shower scent.

Jake is good woody frag with nice staying power. Perfect for casual use all year long in my opinion whether you in jeans and a tee or shorts and flip flops

Its good but longevity is horrible.

Not sure if I'm giving my 2 cents on the correct fragrance because I recently ordered "Jake" directly from their website and the bottle is dark blue, but I don't see a blue bottle just called "Jake" on here when searching That said the scent of the dark blue bottle Jake on their website is pretty meh vs how much I read about it being THE scent of the store back in the day and all the nostalgia people wrote about it, I thought it'd be slightly more unique so maybe it's made very differently now It has a nondescript sweet juiciness to it that lasts for at least 8 hours on clothing before it turns into a more pleasant but still generic masculine marine type scent, I honestly hated smelling like manly sweet juice all day when I tried it, like a cheap fruity mist but in manly form making it uncanny like a children's juice box trying to be sexy, but then the NEXT day the same fleece jacket was still projecting it but smelled like a normal fresh marine masculine scent

I blind purchased this bottle for $12.99, and it's fair for that price. I keep seeing comments that it is the nostalgic Hollister fragrance. Idk if maybe the mall in DFW used "SoCal" instead, bc it smells like the Hollister store to me not "Jake". I do not recognize this scent. To me it smells similar to Banana Republic "Modern" which i have seen compared to feline urine. It doesnt have a strong scent, but I have a horrible sense of smell still years after Covid (non-smoker too) so it takes strong fragrances for me to pick them up, sometimes I can't smell this at all. So far I would not recommend and will not buy again, I recommend "SoCal" instead. I will update if my opinion changes, seeing that almost all fragrances I have completely change scents day to day to me.

It's definitely citrusy and woody. This reminds me of Penguin premium blend to me. Nothing special. A beginner friendly for sure. I would rather save money and just buy Penguin Premium Blend. It's not exactly the same but very identical and it's only 15 dollars for 100ml. Longer lasting than Jake. 5/10

Jake isn't bad, it is a bit boring and one dimensional though. I don't have anything amazing to say about it but it is nice enough. The performance is not that great, it seems well suited for someone who tends to overspray.

the only cologne to ever give me a headache tried it once about 5 years ago, gave me a headache went through many colognes without problem tried it again recently.. still give me a headache..

I would probably consider smelling it if weren't for the fact that I already smell it on the other side of the mall AND on another level!!! Big turn off--they spray literally a whole bottle throughout the store and it wafts out the doors goes into everywhere else. I get a headache marching through the store which is why I don't shop there or A&F--they do the same thing too! I guess teen-dom and overapplying is synonymous.

Found a new 30ml brown bottle on vinted for 30€ and grabbed it. What an incredible deals since these are sold for 200 🤣 it's just as delicious as I remembered, more woodsy than the new reformulation which is way more citrusy and this also lasts much longer. Can’t believe the original brown bottle of Jake is going for $150-300. Kicking myself for not keeping it as a teen. Smelled good but even many years ago I thought it was too popular/known to wear often. Really wish I still had it now. I can’t imagine the blue bottle of Jake smells any different. Worth a buy for a trip down memory lane.

It's a barely-there woody scent. I have the brown bottle and maybe over time, the longevity took a hit. It wasn't that strong to begin with. I've also tried the blue-bottle formulation and didn't notice any major differences. The DUA version is probably better than this now (haven't tried it yet), and that's not a compliment for DUA.

woody citrus scent, but I perceive it as more of a camping outdoors kind of scent. Some people say it smells like bug spray, I disagree. Its a calming fragrance, and I really like it. Its a great new age mens barbershop fragrance. Not thick, but it has that masculine aspect to it while still being citric and clean.

I really like this fragrance but it's a double edge sword its smell is amazing but youthful its kind of like holisters version of fierce. However it has a major drawback its performance is horrible it lasts on me 4 hours and doesn't really project its not surprising considering its an edc

They changed the formula. It lost most of its woodsy notes and sweet in exchange for oceanic salty notes aka typical "dude" scent. Its useful for the gym or exercise thats about it. Original formula was way better

Just bought jake at hollister store for 50$ ands it lasts for about 2 minutes not even a skin sent after 2 or 3 minutes!!!!! It’s must be 99% water What a waste of money 😥😥

Its sweet, youthful and casual. A nice mix of citrus and woods there also an ambiguous floral note.

vintage bottle is weak .I used to wear it back 2011 .smells nice but is weak
