Song For a Rising Sun

Yummy yummy, this is a delightful opening: sweet, spicy, a bit of a pepper, slightly smokey and like Quality of Flesh I smell this hint of steel, although much more subtle. I do smell fruit but would never have identified that as pineapple. Neither do I recognize whiskey literally, only the fleeting sensation of alcohol. This could be Ivre de Vie’s sister. To me they are both spicy fruit.

This is one of my best scents and I think I might have to get a second bottle pretty soon. The pineapple leaf and the cummin work so damn well together. Best summer scent I own.

I really wanted to go full bottle with this, but the performance is too poor. I got a sample and even with three sprays to the arm (versus my usual one spray), it was a skin scent within 2 hours. The projection is minimal to where I can't even enjoy it myself. I repeated the skin test the next day, and still the same disappointing results. This smell is similar to Vir by Profumum Roma, but 'Song' has a unique fruit top note that made it different enough to be worth buying. I did a side-by-side paper test between this and Vir, and the Vir spray spot is noticeably darker and smells stronger hours later. The 'Song' spot is faint and smells like eight hours have passed instead of two. Considering the fragrance similarities, this confirms it's not nose-blindness. I realize Vir is twice the cost, but like I said earlier - I sprayed 'Song' on my arm three times and it still faded quickly. I also simultaneously sprayed a different fragrance sample on my other arm, and that's the one I can smell. It's a real bummer because I really enjoy the scent of 'Song', but why spend the money if I have to put my nose in my skin after 30 minutes? :(

This in my head confused me. I think of cumin, cedar, chamomile from shampoos, pineapple, hairspray, mint, a peaty whiskey, dirty sweet elemi. I get a dusty shelf with cheap 90s macho man style aftershaves. I do not understand. At times it looks like an ashtray used by Tom Ford mixed with a tons of cedar, a fake Minotaure and shipped from Aliexpress. If you are looking for Pineapple Kush it is not here. If there is, it has already been ... smoked. Young, clean, sweet, generic. Sorry.

Sweet whiskey herbal shisho yet cannabis. Dusty sweet aged whiskey with fruit like sweetness and cannabis. I get the cumin kept ro minimal and the juicy pineapple is lightening the herbal and the cumin. It does have a juicy amber, elemi, and a touch of sour wood. At first when I applied it on my wrest I thought I do smell "aventus" and was quite depressed somehow, but when I applied it now on my chest it went quite cute. As it cools down, the juicy pineapple arises quite well with hints of chamomile and a generous dose of whiskey amber. Very cute indeed.

Wonderful. The only notes I can discern are the woodsy notes. But obviously the other notes of pineapple, whisky etc mixed in, is what makes this so fabulous. I seem to be drawn to a what I perceive to be a dry salt smell not a seaweed beach smell in perfumes I like. And this is what this is to me, even though there is no salt note in it. This slightly reminds me of What I did On my Holidays and L'Air Du Desert Marocain. A dry salt. Just sniffed my arm again & I get a little pineapple, but its been on a while.

Really enjoy this one. Very close to Remarkable People by etat libre d orange. This is a bit spicy compared to Remarkable people. Remarkable people is all about champagne. This is more a party with booze and marihuana. The cumin is noticable, however its more far in the background compared to Declaration. To me this is Remarkable People smoking a joint. Great scent, maybe even a bit underrated here imo (3,9). I give it 4,2.

Update as its August & hot. Changed my mind as all I can smell are the woody notes, so this is too much like an aftershave for me. It seems to work better on me in cool/colder weather. I need a fragrance to smell wonderful on me all year round, think Hypnotic Poison. Such a pity. Great for men at this time of year or females who only like woodsy scents.
