Alright, one bottle, one nose, no bias... Ambre des Abysses comes across like it studied three elite fragrances, Reflection Man, Lafayette Street, and Layton, then pulled the strongest parts of each into one incredibly polished composition. Right away, it gives off that upscale aromatic freshness, but with a spicy, elegant richness underneath that keeps it from feeling generic or overly clean. It does not smell like a clone or a shortcut. It smells like a fragrance that understood the assignment and executed it at a very high level. What stands out most in the opening is how balanced everything feels. You get that refined, almost glowing floral aromatic smoothness that brings Reflection Man to mind, but it is fused with the spicy charisma and mass appeal of Lafayette Street, then rounded out with some of that slightly sweet designer niche crossover magic that makes Layton so addictive. The result is fresh spicy, aromatic, elegant, and confident all at once. Nothing feels out of place, nothing feels harsh, and nothing feels like it is trying too hard. It just smells expensive and extremely well put together. As it moves into the heart, that elegant structure becomes even more obvious. This is where the fragrance really earns its praise. It creates a very nice scent bubble around you, enough for people nearby to catch it and appreciate it, but it does not take over the room or turn into an obnoxious cloud. It stays present for a long time too, and does not really start feeling like a true skin scent until around the 5-6 hour mark, which is a sweet spot for a fragrance like this. Versatility is strong, but I would not call it careless versatility. Yes, you could wear this in most climates outside of very high heat, but it carries a level of elegance that makes it feel wasted in overly casual situations. This is not the fragrance I would reach for with a T shirt, shorts, and beat up sneakers. It also does not really feel suited for rougher blue collar settings or entry level work environments. This smells more like higher level office wear, senior meetings, date nights at premium restaurants, and evenings that involve theaters, shows, or any setting where a little sophistication actually matters. It has range, but it also has standards if you do not want to feel out of place. TLDR/Final verdict, Ambre des Abysses feels like it cherry picked the best elements from some of the leaders in the exact scent profile it is trying to hit, then blended them into something elegant, versatile, and genuinely impressive. It captures freshness, spice, refinement, and wearability in a way that feels effortless. This is not just a good fragrance, it is a beautifully composed one that knows exactly what lane it belongs in and executes at a high level. 9.3 out of 10.

THE DEPTH SPEAKS IN SEDUCTIVE GREEN Honestly, I’m really glad I stumbled upon this masterpiece by accident, because it ended up being one of my best blind buys in a long time, this one is seriously a hidden gem with a truly unique scent profile I watched a few reviews before picking it up, but after trying it myself, I felt like they didn’t describe the scent all that accurately [1] - A Minty Green Awakening: Right off the bat, you get a highly realistic herbal mint note, almost like opening a jar packed with fresh mint leaves [2] - A Name That Plays Tricks: The fragrance name, which roughly translates to “Amber from the Depths,” is a little tricky in my opinion, it may lead you to expect something darker, heavier, animalic, or amber focused, but the actual scent opens in a much fresher, greener, and more natural direction [3] - Beyond the Official Description: I don’t fully agree with the way it’s described on the official website, except for the ( unexpected combination ) part, this is genuinely a unique fragrance that stands out from the crowd [4] - The Seductive Drydown: As it evolves into the dry down, it becomes sweeter, smoother, more attractive, more seductive, and incredibly well blended, giving off a classy and refined vibe [5] - Versatility & Wearability: Definitely unisex, but I prefer it on men more than women, and I would consider it a fairly safe blind buy for men, it can work as a signature scent, for almost any occasion, and across any season Huge respect to the perfumers: Luca Maffei and Antoine Lie

I have been on the lookout for a niche or high quality of Nikos's Sculpture since forever. Although, when I bought this, I did not have that fragrance in mind, I sampled assumed from the name it would be...well.... Amber!! The moment I spritzed this fragrance, I realised I had a huge grin on my face, and that is rare for me to have reactive grin from a fragrance, in fact very rare! This hit me with a nostalgic slap in the face like no other (a gorgeous slap, might I add!), and within a few seconds I was like 'OMG this is Sculpture' even though I had not smelled it for well over a decade, possibly longer. This is just heaven in a bottle, it ticks so many many boxes. I have nearly 100 fragrances, and owned in the past over the 350 mark, and very few leave a huge impact on me like Scupture did way back at the turn of the millennia. This isnt a great review telling you how the fragrance unfolds, I simply wanted to sing the fragrance's praises, I have Boise Mystique on the way, and umming and arring whether to order Tabac Nomade next or the house's star Fougere Royal, *or* bite the eyewaterinw bullet price of Fougere Royal Extrait :/ Either way, a must try at least, enjoy, and God bless :)

What a beautiful perfume! It opens sparkling, citrusy, but soon takes on very elegant, dry, I dare say even a little vintage, but irresistible tones. An amber immersed in the spicy abysses, which gives class and stands out, with a persistence and a sillage that get many compliments. Now pin my wishlist. Greek mythology tells the story of Phaeton, son of Helios. One day, he went to his father to beg him to bring him the chariot of the sun. After convincing him, Phaeton got into the chariot and set off. Suddenly the horses ran wild and carried the chariot into the firmament, burning part of the sky and thus creating the Via Lattea. The chariot went down suddenly, lowering itself to the earth and burning it. At that point, Zeus decided to save the men by striking Phaeton with his thunderbolts, who died and fell into the river that is now called the Po. His sisters, the Eliads, mourned his death. Although it took a while for me to come to this conclusion, this is truly something special. At first glance, (smell) Ambre des Abysses could come off as confused or messy. After all, there are components of multiple DNAs in here: Fresh mint, orange blossom, and citrus- sweet, warm notes like vanilla and amber- and even notes typical of a fougere like oakmoss, tonka, geranium, and patchouli. However, after much wearing of the fragrance, I have grown to embrace it's complexity. It not longer feels like a mash to me; rather a beautifully composed work of art. It's elegant, classy, versatile, and the evolution of the scent is addictive. 1000% signature scent worthy, as Ambre des Abysses is both unique and well-suited for all occasions and seasons (maybe not in humid heat though). Every man should own this, and if you don't you're missing out. And don't be quick to write it off like some others unfortunately have.

Yes, Ambre des Abysses is more masculine leaning, but from the moment I smelled this fragrance, I was mesmerized. Once it develops on the skin, there is a warmth and herbaceous quality that is beautiful and stimulating. This fragrance is ambery and dark, with the tangy citrus lift of bergamot. This fragrance is composed so well that each individual note is a player. This is a distinguished gentleman. The comparison to the NAXOS dry down is only minimally accurate. They evoke similar feelings, but the scents are entirely different.

Closest thing I own to a signature scent, extremely fun to wear. Pleasant and versatile without being boring. Never smelled Guilty elixir but I agree with the comparisons with reflection man. Call it a creamy reflection man with less of the traditional amouage spicyness, much better performance. Blind bought it cus I'm a maniac. Expected something green and soapy fresh and got something much better. 10/10 scent 8/10 longevity 8/10 projection (slightly too strong) 8/10 value

A fern that turns amber? I grant you it’s disturbing to wear a mutant perfume but this one is made in the most beautiful way and changes throughout the day, you have to follow it. The opening recalls the white shirt of reflection man of Amouage with its neroli and mint blowing a fresh air , but subsequently the perfume become darker with its amber leather accord and oak foam , it is absolutely beautiful. A gentleman’s perfume darker than it looks.

Fragrances like this is what makes the hunt so worthwhile. This is an absolutely gorgeous clean fragrance, so well blended i struggle to pick out any note! Antoine Lie is one of my favorite perfumers and this is a masterpiece, hidden gem! This will set you apart from the crowds and snap necks turning to see you as you walk by and carry this aroma! It’s a lightly sweet, slightly spicy ambery aromatic clean beauty, must try! Full bottle worthy!

Awesome fragrance! As everybody I must compare it with Amouage Reflection 40% and Gucci elixir 60%. Everything bothered me with Gucci elixir like strong flower note here is way more refined,nite and very wearable. Houbigant house gives more for its price. Whoever is in Reflection zone but refusing to give money for poor performing fragrance must try Ambre des Abysses. Performance 8.2 / 10

I mean this in the best possible way. If Versace Eros parfum was high end quality niche. Edit: after wearing multiple times, yes is reminds of of Eros, but this is infinitely better, more nuanced, more layered, higher quality. This is one of the best fragrances in my collection. Period. I love this. 10/10.

Grail type of scent to me. All season, all occasion with complexity but not overly so, familiar yet unique. Wonderfully balanced. Top tier stuff for my nose. Masculine fragrance, fougereish but great nuance and layers. Very smooth and round on the edges.

A hidden gem and masterpiece from a historic fragrance house. As someone who greatly enjoys the scent profile of both Amouage Reflection and Xerjoff Naxos, this couldn't be any more perfect. Ideal all-year round and easily signature scent worthy.

Smells perfect. Sweeter Reflection Man. But unlike Reflection Man this one lacks in performance. Sillage is very close maybe arms length and longjevity is arround 5 hours on skin. Scent profile is a 10 tho. I just wish it had the performance.

Gawd Damn ! This is so beautiful and unique. Amber with florals ? Wow !! I’m in love. Sillage is excellent for the first hour and then falls off fast. Scent life is average at best.

This, I like. Not a mind blowing first impression, but the scent is alluring. More of a sleeping beauty than a raging lunatic. Even with 8 sprays it’s a close quarters scent bubble so I don’t see how you could over-apply. Perfect for all occasions and perhaps more of a mature wear or for an office setting. I get a combo of faint citrus, jasmine, and patchouli. It wears slightly powdery. Subtle sweetness with cherry overtones like an old school cherry Chapstick. To me, this is more in line with BDK Rouge Smoking than anything else. There is a smokiness that pops in and out as i start picking up some leather. All in all it is quite light, pleasant, and easy to wear.

This is a Nice scent, Minty, Floral, Creamy, Sweet and Vanilla. It reminds me of Le Male Original and It is not Unique ! It has High Quality Composition , If you like Le Male, You will like this one. It opens up with semi sweet fresh spicy , minty and floral notes in the background then dry down is sweet vanilla, ambery and woody. I don't get The Leather note in this perfume, The Mint, Orange Blossom and Vanilla notes are dominant in this fragrance. Ambre des Abysses is perfect for the all seasons. I received Ambre des Abysses as a Gift and I like it. Longevity is Good Rating : 7.5 / 10

Ambre des Abysses un vero capolavoro... premetto che non sono amante dei profumi agrumati, acquatici e comunque di fragranze con delle nuance marine, questo però è davvero molto molto interessante. Trovo che sia una fragranza bellissima e lussuosa appropriata quindi per occasioni formali dove si indossa un outfit elegante.

It’s a very fun scent, because it smells like Feijoa fruit mixed with some fresh soapy notes (I guess it’s lavender). It also has a bit of sweetness and sort of nice vintage floral notes. Definitely a traditional male scent but with a nice minty vanilla twist. It’s a very underrated collection tbh.

Ambre des Abysses starts like a refined version of (dare I say it?) Invictus Platinum and then in less than 5 minutes when it dries down, it shift towards Amouage Reflection + a leathery/suedey note! Performance wise, on skin I get 6-7 hours before it becomes a very faint skin scent.

This is a soapy aromatic fougere style fragrance. Opens up very bright from the mint, dries down to a rosemary, geranium, earthy oakmoss scent. I would say this is a soapy/cleaner version of ''Amouage Reflection Man'', not a clone but in that ballpark. Not bad, worth sampling.

I can see why this would be considered a cousin of Le Male. It has got that fresh white vanillic tonka soap thing going on. This definitely comes across more natural. Sits between Le Male and Sartorial on that sweetened shaving foam axis, with a noticeable floral lean. 7.8/10

Very very similar to reflection man.. Which I already have an amazing dupe of. But still this has a mint and refreshing vibe to it. Maybe decants worthy.

All year rounder. Orange blossom bomb. If you want something non offensive, fresh laundry like, pleasant but with good quality, this is no brainer.

I can see why the “reminds me of” section has so many vastly different fragrances in it. There’s a little bit of a lot of different fragrances in Ambre des Abysses. So nobody is wrong or right. It doesn’t smell like Naxos but there’s a honeyed sweetness that recalls it. It doesn’t smell exactly like some of the Gucci’s either, but there’s certainly the floral clean but distinctly masculine aura to it that recalls those. There’s just so much happening that if you’ve sampled or own a lot of fragrances, you’ll be able to reference something about many of them in this one. To add something new to the mix, from my perspective - there’s just a touch of Sartorial about this, but not as metallic and starchy as that. Sartorial gives off a ‘Man in Business Suit, Professional Mature’ vibe, but Ambre des Abysses leans sweeter; much sweeter, particularly in the opening. So where Sartorial is 'Man in Business Suit, Professional Mature', Ambre des Abysses is 'Man in Linen Suit, Casual, Professional Mature'. Same guy, different setting.

Way too cloyingly sweet. I'm pretty sure it pushed me over into full-blown diabetes. The accord stack listed on this page really should have the "sweet" accord listed, and at the very top. Two sprays on each wrist and it was borderline nauseating. I understand the comparisons to Amouage Reflection Man and Nikos Sculpture Homme. I have both of those - I like Reflection Man which is different and a better scent than this Ambre des Abysses, and I'm trying to get rid of Sculpture. There is really no notable similarity to Invasion Barbare and Roja Isola Blu. So this is not full bottle worthy for me. I have Fougere Royale and Bois Mystique. Both outstanding. And Ive deemed Patchouli Sauvage and Figuier Noir full bottle worthy. Not so Oud Or, Tabac Nomade or Ambre des Abysses.

Wonderful classic, apparently a sister house only Bourne last year. I found clean amber, bright opening with a hint of caramel without the sweetness of it. You can almost envision an amber stone on a sunset. After a while a note of tuberose, or what I thought it was tuberose shows it's presence, rendering the perfume creamier, here is where the fragrance becomes more polarising, if you love white flowers of the endemic nature (orange blossom, Jasmin, for me tuberose 🤣), jackpot. The dry down is phenomenal in my opinion. Brought classic traditional perfumery to an amber tone, the tonka isn't defined, it brings more texture and warmth than the typical almond note. I really liked it overall, especially on the dry down.

This is a very sweat version of reflection man with ambery/leathery dry down. Unfortunately I got nose blind after wearing it for couple times, that’s why I recommend sampling it first.

I was sampling this and Gucci Guilty Elixir before picking up Reflection 45. The opening is like a minty Reflection Man. That’s my only favorite 20 seconds of it, then the ambery orange blossom cracks open the top like it is really coming out of the abyss. The fragrance turns into a funky aromatic sweetness with an unpleasant characteristic. The sweetness or amber accord in here smells like the one in new Dior Homme Parfum 2025, Serge Lutens Chergui, and Xerjoff Naxos, but here it’s very very much sweeter. However, it smells more tolerable and enjoyable from afar or in the sillage. This is loud. In term of the similarity in this line of scent profile, I like Amouage Reflection Man/45 for its soft sophistication, and I don’t think this is a good alternative. This one is more challenging. It only shares some nuances in scent profile but it is still much different. But this has stronger projection and longevity tho. Highly recommend not to blind buy.

I think if you took Gucci Guilty Elixir, made it more aromatic, and toned down the vanilla a bit, you’d end up with this fragrance. To me, it’s closest to Gucci Elixir, but definitely not very similar. It goes in a different direction with a minty and dominant aromatic feel. Honestly, since I already have Pegasus and Reflection in my collection, I wasn’t considering Gucci because it felt too similar. In that sense, Ambre des might find a place in my collection, because as I said, it reminds me of it but takes a different path. I’ll test it a bit more. I liked it on my first try, but it felt a bit sharp and somewhat synthetic. I’ll update my thoughts after more testing. Edit: April 2026 I tried it a few more times, but as I mentioned, that sharp greenness and slight synthetic feel I get never went away. The fragrance never softens. If it had mellowed into something more floral-vanillic like Gucci, it would have been less bothersome for me.

Seems way too dated for my taste. I find the powdery florals pull it towards leaning feminine. Right from the opening ,it is obvious that this is an older perfume house that goes way back. If you are into old classic fragrances this may be your thing. Somebody made a reference to Le Male. Do not let that have you think ,even for a second, that this has a modern spin on a classic style. Keep in mind that I usually steer away from fragrances that have strong florals or that are overly powdery. Something about this does remind me of Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum. They are not quite the same, but for me the florals used make them both feel dated. The Guerlain is more masculine though.

The notes listed do not seem to match very well with the actually scent. I detect no mint, and no orange blossom. This is dark, powdery, burning incense vibe. Very synthetic and overpowering. Glad I didn’t buy a full bottle.

Mauvais parfum à mon nez , mélange farfelue , trop de notes , et cela ne semble pas naturel. La menthe est chimique et le reste aussi... C'est désagreable et semblable à d'autres parfums pour homme lambda comme le male de jpg pour ne citer que lui. Par contre grosse tenue et sillage présent .

I don’t really think I’ll be able to add anything new about this fragrance because previous reviews sum it up pretty well in my opinion, however I can share my own perception of this composition. I do agree this perfume follows the same idea as all these previous tonka/orange blossom/amber-focused compositions, however if you do side-by-side sniffing you can definitely tell that Ambre Des Abysses follows its own path. I do appreciate this fragrance a lot for several reasons: 1. It is a wearable fragrance for me—something I can wear without thinking twice, something that won’t bother me throughout the day and also won’t bother people around me, it’s always something I appreciate when I get new fragrances. 2. It is elegant and versatile. I wore this to the gym and didn’t feel weird; I also wore it for a night out and felt sophisticated. Also wonderful to have fragrances like these in the collection. 3. Orange blossoms—I’m a sucker for those and always gravitate towards compositions focused around this note. Between this and Fougère Royale, which I also own, I always choose Ambre Des Abysses. Although I am also puzzled regarding the name of this perfume because to my nose it’s not focused around amber, nor is it about the abyss. For me it is a woody/floral fresh composition with a hefty dose of aromatics like rosemary and mint, with a prominent tonka-focused dry down. I think Luca Maffei and Antoine Lie are a powerful duo, and I’m curious to explore more from their collaborative work. In the end, Ambre Des Abysses proves that sometimes the best fragrances are the ones that simply let you live your life— elevating every moment without demanding too much attention.

The combination of citrusy Bergamot, floral Orange Blossom, and refreshing Mint Leaves give a vibrant and uplifting impression. As the fragrance develops, the heart notes come forward. The Rosemary, Geranium, and Jasmine create a harmonious blend, intertwining with the warm and earthy notes of Patchouli and Amber. This combination results in a balanced and aromatic bouquet, where the herbal and floral notes mix with the rich, resinous qualities of Patchouli and Amber. In the base, the fragrance takes on a creamy and structured character. The creamy sweetness of Vanilla and Tonka Bean provide a comforting and slightly gourmand aspect to the scent. The Oak Moss adds an earthy and mossy quality, contributing to the fragrance's depth. The Leather accord give it a touch of ruggedness, adding a hint of strength and masculinity.

This smells really nice. It reminds me of quite a few scents I’ve smelled - none of which are listed in the smells like section. In fact, I don’t think this smells like those at all. One that continues to come to mind is silver blue by mancera. It carries a heft to - ambery orange blossom with a hint of aquatic notes. I don’t see myself pulling the trigger on a full bottle, mainly because it’s not moving the needle enough to warrant the cost - but it is indeed a pleasing, quality scent that seems like it could easily be worn in all climates.

Got a sample of this, wasn’t crazy about it after I first sprayed it on, got a hint of freshness followed by sweet/spiciness around 15 mins later, almost has a cherry soda type of vibe. The dry down to me smells A LOT like Sauvage elixir. As I said before, wasn’t crazy about it at first spray, but have worn in the last couple days and it has grown on me. Can definitely be worn as a year round signature but I would avoid wearing this in high heat situations personally. Think it’s a bit too sweet/cloying for that.

This absolutely does not smell like Gucci guilty, like at all. Just because it has orange blossom doesn’t make them similar, I’m saying this because Gucci guilty is one of the my most used, guilty is too vanilla foward. That being said this smells more like nico sculpture or a bogart pour homme, smells more like Naxos than guilty. Other than that this is a fenomenal fragrance, pretty unique within the white floral fragrance space so you won’t find anything exactly like it, especially on the dry down

Take reflection man and times it by 10X. This stuff is nuclear, strong projection silage and longevity. It's also much sweeter especially in the opening than RM. It's more of a hybrid of RM and RM 45, but not as smooth and well blended as either and definitely sweeter. The sweetness does tone down as it dries and the leather starts to come out more. Lavender is definitely the major player in this fragrance so if you don't like lavender you should probably stay away. Overall its a solid fragrance.

Headache inducing animalic leather and oakmoss bomb. Dirty geranium and jasmine. No sweetness from the getgo and do not expect a citric opening. Fades off to a musky popcorn like amber. Not what I expected. I am usually a fan of Houbigant and respect the quality of their offerings but this smells like what earwax tastes like. We've all done it as kids and this was one memory I didn't want a fragrance to dig out of the memory banks.
