Bois Mystique Extrait de Parfum

Very pronounced, dry, toasted peppercorn and cardamom opening, very spiced, with a slight oiliness in the background to avoid it from feeling harsh. For me, this starts to lean pretty incensy and woody with not much variation. There's a "little bit 'o this, little bit 'o that" going on, like a dish that's prepared to taste like the sum of its parts, rather than letting you pick out the individual ingredients. Definitely bottle worthy imo. Masculine, not super clean but without being dirty, it has a lot more of a dark pepper character with woody incense, so while it's simple in nature, I think it stays relevant, so it's something I'd reach for, even if you have a good collection.

Others have read this as a male scent – to me, it's more masculine-leaning unisex. It's very woody and incense-y, but doesn't feel unwearable to me as a woman who prefers very 'feminine' scents. (I borrowed it for testing from my mother!) This is all cypriol and pepper to me. I don't notice any of the fresher notes, maybe a little neroli or ginger. It's very consistent on my skin and wears down to myrrh & amber, but still retains pepper in the drydown. very likeable, if assertive. It feels wearable for the office or daytime, but definitely a power scent. It stands out and would be a great signature scent. It feels like old-school. Blazer energy.

It's A very nice blend but it could announce itself a bit more assertively. It hung around most of the work day with the first two hours having acceptable projection and sillage. It's never loud, this type of scent shouldn't be, it has a fitness to it and very gentlemanly. I do wish it to be a wee bit stronger for that price. Maybe a $800 parfum version will fix that. I won't be holding my breath. This review is based on a 2ml. sample from Beverly Hills Perfumery.

Bois Mystique Extrait opens with a bergamot and cardamom blast which quickly turns to a ginger and slight neroli middle, the cypriol is always there but I don't get too much iris, it seems hidden behind the cypriol. After an hour or so the amber, myrrh and musk softens it beautifully. As with all men's houbigants the blending is exquisite. My new autumn signature.

I finally got a bottle of this magnificent fragrance. It is a masterpiece and signature scent worthy. This is stronger than original one and has better longevity and silliage.

This is totally worth the price The quality there it's great It could have a little bit better projection and longevity but still the fabulous scent profile makes up for everything. For me the cinnamon and cashmere combo is just beautiful high quality and I think it's the most enjoyable part of the scent would love to see a parfum version of this would have been even better. Smells very slightly like something could have come from House of Amouage but not as intense and overbearing. Please make a parfum version of this it's just great. That would be an ultimate scent.

Something here in the mix makes this feel like a sandalwood/cinnamon overdose. That’s it, musk with cinnamon and sandalwood. Not much freshness at all. I see this compared to Royal Oud, nope they are very different. Royal Oud is pepper and cedar with citrus freshness. This one is cinnamon and musk, I would get Fougere Royale.

To rmf1112: this Extrait is not to be mixed up with the lower priced Eau de Parfum. In case the Extrait was ever discounted to 180 euro, I’m sad I missed it.

Houbigant’s Euro website has it for 180ish Euro (200ishUSD), but the US version of their site has it for $600 USD?
