Siren

Siren is a big wide hug of a perfume. It has a potent opening, roots, florals, and on my skin remains very woody throughout. I smell more orange blossom than iris - I actually sprayed some Serge Lutens Fleur D’Oranger on a strip to help me acclimatize to what I was smelling – I’m still working on it, and that’s why I find Siren captivating. As it develops it has a subdued confidence. I think it will be very different on different people. As the projection draws in after a few hours I sense the amber in the drydown I think, but never much rose, blending with the woods into a fuzzy and soft woolly blanket. I find this to have a broad, appealing and yet difficult to pin down vibe, user-friendly, my daytime winter choice. You know what I mean? I don’t have to be in the mood for this, or decide whether I’m going to be having a leather, lavender or rose kind of day. I can just put it on and immediately enjoy it all day into the evening. I’m thinking this perfume kind of glows with warming light and humbly I can’t do it justice in words really. I’m a big fan of this house, and their perfumes always have major longevity and development on me. Siren has been my choice of perfume every day this week. It reminds me of Oh, My Stars!, as well as Unveiled (now discontinued). The points of similarity between these three House of Matriarch perfumes are personal to my nose – I always tend to group perfumes together in my mind to orientate myself - but Siren I find very surprising. I liked Oh My Stars on-and-off and I must confess scrubbed Unveiled as there are certain notes in the bases of both I found annoyingly insistent and stifling. This isn’t a problem at all with Siren, which I have bought.

Simply gorgeous! I couldn't get enough of it! Sillage is fine, but I loved it so much I continually sprayed to intensify my experience! It has a cool, hip, fresh opening that has a seductive side. Unisex - not only do I want to wear it, I would be bowled over by a man wearing it! LOL! The incense and saffron fuse with all other notes, and create a unique accord that is contemporary magic. Sexy, it expresses a coolness that's addictive. A new 'go-to scent' for sure! Created by Christi Meshell in collaboration with singer, The Soft Skeleton's Emily Haines, who is a huge fan of House of Matriarch perfumes. Haine's music plays on the the website page for the perfume. The song Legend of the Wild Horse, with lyrics talking about DARK FOREST, which is the name of the companion incense. I love it when two art forms collide. It was a dream come true for Haines to create her own signature scent. I think she has become an official perfumista! Edit 6/27 - Absolutely love this. Have already gone through practically a bottle, and will have to reorder. This is kind of a 'forest' scent, and wonderful year round.
