Vespertine

Vespertine opens with orange blossom and jasmine, that warm up with the emergence of ylang ylang. It quickly reveals a tuberose note, as if crowned by the other flowers, taking her throne in the core of the fragrance. Slowly, a narcissus touch becomes more evident, toying with sandalwood in the background. These two notes pair really well together, and complement the floral bouquet wonderfully. As it evolves into the base, there's a slight vegetal feel drawn out by vetiver, that also bridges with the tuberose. Later on you can find an amber accord laced with a clean and musky cashmeran note. They round up the floral notes, taking off the sharp edges, and further enhancing the creaminess and glossiness of tuberose. This is a beautiful composition, that underlines different facets of tuberose through careful balancing and note selection. The final result is a tuberose that feels natural and full, beaming in shades of white, yellow and green! It's ever so warm and delectable, without becoming lactonic or obnoxious - like unbalanced tuberose scents can be. The white beast that roams the fields takes no heed from human noses. It violently growls, impatiently, resenting contention and minute moderation... But despite bowing to no man, she certainly feels at ease wrapped in soft petals. Normally tuberose does not work well with either my skin chemistry or my nose but this is a truly magnificent tuberose! It is a incredibly well mixed creation that lasts all day but isn't overwhelming. It leans rather feminine but this is the 1st tuberose that I would possibly wear (I'm a strong powerhouse masculine lover). Super impressive by all of the house's offerings. Well worth the effort of discovering this new house from Spain 🇪🇸.

Vespertine is mainly a tuberose soliflor, but what an outstanding accomplish it is. All the Tuberose aspects are present here, the rich voluptuous green, the heady carnal aspects of tuberose, the soft tender nuances and lingering milky touch.

Tuberose is one of the notes that does better with centre stage in all natural formulations and this is very successful. I like that it’s not overly indolic.

Personal: 8/10 - Very wearable and likable slightly darker take on white floral DNA. Mass appeal: 8.5/10 - Very very safe, though not everyone finds the white florals appealing. Performance: 8/10 - Remarkably potent for being so heavily floral and somewhat fresh. Value: 6/10 - It's not a bad value if this is REALLY what you want, but at $200 it's far from a steal. Uniqueness: 7/10 - It's a generic DNA, but it does it very well and in such a mature fashion. SCORE: 75/100 Full bottle buy? YES, it's expensive but really nice. I enjoy it a lot. Blind buy? YES, it's a very safe white floral fragrance but with a lot of depth that others lack. Recommend? YES, it's a great alternative to other designer fragrances, but it comes at a price. Date night? YES, especially for summer evenings or slightly cooler weather. Very enjoyable. Office safe? YES, unless heavily oversprayed, nobody will be mad about this in the boardroom. Pros: Somewhat unique and very versatile. Smells somewhat vintage without smelling old. Classic. Performance is a plus. Cons: The white floral creamy DNA isn't for everyone. It's not cheap. Still a generic, overplayed DNA, just a good take on it. I'm not one to generally enjoy bright white floral fragrances, and tuberose is a bit of a love hate relationship for me. However, this fragrance turns the normal slightly sweet, white floral, musky DNA that you're familiar with, and tones it down with some darker, more animalic notes that give it a deeper, slightly warmer feeling. It's still got a creaminess that is often associated with white floral fragrances, but I cannot get over how well rounded this one is compared to most others (especially designer white florals). I enjoy this one more than most and could see myself revisiting it in the future. I really enjoy it, and it's a great option for white florals without the youthful sweetness of designers. Vespertine: active, flowering, or flourishing in the evening. Although this time the name doesn't say it all, it's a straightforward tuberose perfume...so don't waste your time if you are not a fan of this tropical fragrant flower. And for those of you who haven't satisfied their tastes by Carnal Flower and are still on the hunt for the perfect tuberose, this one is sweet and buttery but uncomplicated, light and somehow fresh.
