HoS N.004

Seriously good modern fougere. I would venture to guess that it's unpopular/lesser-known due to limited distribution and a hefty price per mL. House of Sillage is actually a pretty strong house in my opinion. Their growing line of men's offerings are essentially their niche take on men's "modern classic" styles. N.004 is their star fougere, and after spending some months and milliliters meticulously testing it, I have to admit how impressive it has been. The lavender-vanilla-citrus opening is juicy, but a little creamy-sweet from the more dominant lavender aspect. It has the rich "dense" feel of a true extrait concentration. This stuff genuinely develops on the skin. You will notice the citrus top giving way to the lavender-vanilla elements within the first two hours; afterwards, those two elements slowly give way the residual base over the next eight hours of the fragrance (which sticks exceptionally well to my skin for 12+). The "base" or dry-down is comprised of an incredible earthy, patchouli-oakmoss, peppery foundation which intensifies as the lavender-vanilla gradually fades (without ever entirely leaving). I'm extremely tempted to get a full bottle... Take a gander at what all I've shared/tested with friends and family. House of Sillage's N.004 is Top 10 for some, and if not for me, then certainly Top 20 at the moment! That dry-down progression is heavenly!

I don't think this smells all that much like Invictus Aqua. It does smell a bit like Legend Spirit but if you're desperate to roughly describe the ballpark of the smell profile I can see why these are chosen. I like it overall, not gaga over it though. I get lavender, black pepper, and mandarin ...I guess a bit of synthetic oakmoss. I can't imagine wanting to pay more than $140 or so for a full bottle. It's a hell no for $285 or whatever the retail is. 7.75 out of 10. It's....agreeable. Edit: After having this for a while...I think this is actually a grown-up Sauvage. Lavender, pepper, anise. No..seriously. Sauvage without that metallic ambroxan thing.

A very designer like offering, mass pleasing with it's scent profile. To me that isn't a bad thing it's just what it is to me. Unlike a designer though the quality is very noticeable and the performance is really good. I absolutely love the oak moss in this frag. It reminds me of the oak moss in Nishane's Hacivat. Just very good quality and a nice amount of depth. Nothing crazy complex but a very easy to enjoy fragrance. This was a blind buy due to the price I was able to snatch it for. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

This is classy.. Yes, there are similarities to Invictus Aqua and Legend Spirit in the first hour or so but this is a big step up in quality and class. After that first few hours, No.004 becomes a lot more masculine and classier. I don't get any of the Star Anise, not sure if anyone else does.. . Review to come on the channel very soon.

I don’t know how nobody has said it yet, but Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Intense is a copy of this. Trade out the oakmoss in this for vetiver and bam. BiR intense. This came like 6 years before, but man they are close. Similar longevity. This is obviously very high quality as well, but in my opinion both can be worn interchangeably

Nice box, I like the carbon fiber design, the inside is lined with white satin with a black cleaning cloth inside. Solid and simple package. The mens line of HOS is definitely slick and innovative with the push to uncover cap/spray button, feels like Sharper Image designed their can. (Be sure to face nozzle towards front logo before spraying, trust me.) The fragrance isn’t spectacular to me but I do really like the dry down. Super sporty with mild warm smell. Average longevity but strong sillage that first hour, the sun blasted it off of me. Do not expect to have compliments. It is a very safe fragrance, perfect for office work or any formal event, it won't offend anyone. I would give it 6/10.

If I had to describe this fragrance in 2 characters it would be :/ A really nice, fresh, citrus, aromatic fragrance. It has a hint of saltiness that I don't see in the notes & a bit of lively spice. So why :/ ? because N.004 smells about identical to Paco Rabbane Invictus at 300% the price & 25% less juice. Why? Because it is "niche"? Honestly, after buying a sample set from House of Sillage & trying them out, I'm putting this house on my "not interested" list. They seem to sell designer scents in fancy packaging, call it "niche, & spike up the price. Nonetheless, N.004 is a likeable, yet generic scent, but for that price it's a hard, hard pass. N.004 gets a "like" & pass.

Overall I think this is a nice fragrance. Nothing to write home about but I do enjoy it. It's not my forte as I'm very much an orientalist when it comes to fragrances I simply bought this to try and branch out a bit. It has a simple mildly sweet refreshing accord. The gentle florals are tied together with pachouli and Calabrese bergamot... very nice.

Going through the HoS # series and this is my favorite tied with No.1. I find most of these citrusy more mass appeal fragrances are somewhat one dimensional (Hos No. 2 for example) but here we have added depth and complexity that speak to a more niche audience. The basenotes in the drydown really shine to bring this one together.

Not unique. Like PR 1 million in terms of bubble gum sweetness. Also like Invictus Aqua in terms of unpleasant pungent bite. Good performance. But hard pass for me. To the credit of House of Sillage, samples are inexpensive from their website.

I like it! However, I'm comparing a sample of HOS N.004 to Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Night Vision (the green one) and they smell the exact same side-by-side. N.004 is $285 for 2.5oz/75mL and Night Vision is $119 for 3.04oz/90mL.

Smells like a blend of a cheap aqua and an expensive aqua. So many harsh chemicals. Smells unrefined. I think they copied a super common DNA and used high quality natural components but treated it like a $20 junior high boys cologne. Smells like axe. It’s not terrible, but it is extremely overpriced. Put it this way. If it happened to only be $60 I’d give it a 7/10.

Smells like a common designer, sweet citrus bomb. Touch of damp lavender. Has a mild, spoiled undertone; like iced tea that’s been out too long. Very mild anyway. Smells like a refined take on a Tommy Bahama “yachting” fragrance. Maritime Journey, or something like that.

Strangely, the 100% dislike rating out of all 4 voters makes me want to blind buy a 3.3 of this... I just learned something new about myself. But I like all 9 of those notes in the list, and I like the quality blends this house makes, so... I'm not ALL crazy... to be continued...

I love this and find it to be incredibly sexy in an easy going, effortless kind of way. Can work year around and I find the sweetness is more pronounced in summer.

This is an excellent scent...it smells like a more refined and less harsh version of pasha de cartier edition noire

A bit Invictus, a bit Echo, make it somewhat rubbery, add some musk. Not bad, not great. 7/10
