The Classic

The Classic by House of Sillage, for me, bears a moderate similarity to Creed Aventus in respect to the profile of the fragrance - and that isn’t a bad thing. It starts out very citrusy - the lime appears to be quite a prominent note for me. There is a touch of lavender, however the lime note/citrus appears most prominent to my nose. This continues through the dry-down, where if comparing to something like Aventus, rather than being a smoky/woody accord, this one has a woody base but continues to hold the citrus throughout, and is a pleasing alternative to those looking for something along the same vein, but still different enough (as well as enjoyable) to distinguish themselves from anyone else. Because of the accords, this makes it a safe bet for the office and for the spring/summer, although could easily be worn year round. As the collection to which it belongs suggests (The Gentlemen’s Collection), for me, this fits the clean-cut man in a suit, during the day, who means business. It can easily be worn at night too, however, I’d recommend “The Formal” in this same collection from this house for those settings over this one. Longevity - the opening settles down within around 15-30 mins, sillage is good (considering the house it comes from, no surprises there), and typically lasts 12+ hours on my skin. Overall, I’d give this one a solid 8.5/10 and is a solid frag in my collection, one I find myself reaching for regularly.

this fragrance is what is says in its name its classic and gentleman. you wear this fragrance ands you are good to go to a meeting or even a wedding. this is a type of fragrance that only a well dressed man should wear. its not the blind buy type because of how you wear your clothing everyday because this fragrance wont match there type of clothing such as t-shirts and hoodies it needs a proper formal clothing perhaps a suit. this fragrance lasts so long I'm not sure if it ranks long lasting(6-12hrs) or eternal(12+hrs) because I prayed it in the morning and still smelled it at night and it was still strong and amazing. when I wear this fragrance I usually get compliments through out the day but it does get weak like all the fragrances does but after longer time usually. the price is quite expensive but worth It in my opinion.

It is nice. Nothing new. I have smelled this before. It is clean, well-blended, and has staying power. Definitely in my rotation of often worn fragrances. 8.3/10

The opening to this fragrance is great, except the dry down is terrible, anytime I walk in a room full of people they either never notice it or find it bad. I've asked what it smells like and they say its bad at first but then just alcohol, maybe it was just my batch or my skin but I've had more negative comments than compliments wearing this fragrance.

The initial opening is a citrus (Lime) and clean floral (Lavender) scent that is very familiar in men's fragrance. At 15 minutes I am still getting the citrus notes, but I am starting to also pick up on the woody note of Guaiac and on the woody peppery scent of the Coriander. At 30 minutes in I am definitely starting to pick up on the Amber which is providing a nice balance to the overall scent profile. This balance is making this a well rounded scent. 60 minutes into the wear I am starting to get the muskiness of the fragrance. The scent profile at this point is a semi-sweet and spicy scent with undertones of a slightly animalic Musk. The dry down of this fragrance is a musky and Amber scent with some undertones of Lime and woods which provide some balance. This is a very typical fougere scent profile that is perfect for an office setting. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Fair with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2 feet but only for about 90 minutes. The sillage is also Fair with a scent trail of about 2+ feet for about 90 minutes as well. Longevity is Fair with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 4 to 5 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 2 hours. This is not a FBW fragrance due to similarities to others I own and performance.
