Whispers of Guidance

I am very torn. To be honest, I'm positive I'm being influenced by the absolutely gorgeous bottle (and it feels a bit insulting to call it just a bottle). These cupcakes are so much more spectacular in person. But my brain tells me it should be all about the juice. Of course my heart says, it should be about the experience and how it all makes you feel about yourself. And, with this sparkling cupcake, in my favorite spring green color, sits alluringly on my dresser, I feel better about everything. FYI ..... they probably have one in your favorite color in their Whispers Collection, they have several in the most lovely feminine colors. They are almost worth the Swarovski adorned treat alone. Okay enough shallow talk about the outward appearance, now for the fragrance inside. I think I am being objective when I say I love it, at first! It is a delicate green, floral and I do not usually enjoy a lot of green in fragrances. But the way it is blended is so alluring. Here is the problem. On my skin it does not have much or maybe even any longevity or sillage. It frustrates me beyond all reason, because I love it so much. It lasts much better on my clothes. It could just be my chemistry. My skin is on the drier side and somedays it is worse than others. I can however smell it on my clothing, so I guess I probably look a little funny smelling my shirt all day, but when I get a whiff it makes me smile. So I guess that makes it worth it. If you are lucky, it might last a lot longer on you. And, one last note, everyone rates these as over priced and I disagree. Yes, the price tag is high on full retail but the HOS website has amazing free gift offers that honestly makes the price very reasonable. Further, there are some fragrances that are this price and higher and the bottles are nothing in comparison. I am lady who loves gemstones & jewelry and beautiful fragrance and this sort of combines both! Definitely worth buying at least one cupcake!

Color me shocked. A scent that has patchouli and musk and it's not absolute trash on me. Smells very green, crispy, fresh. Mildly leaning sweet but fairly neutral. Not spicy. Slightly tangy. I dig it.. Edit: several hours later my 2 sample spritzes are going strong like 80% smellable. Dried down to something that's like clean laundry. Wasn't expecting that at all and it's great.

I received this bottle as a part of the free gift promotion when I bought some other fragrances. So, in my head I just thought "OK a freebie. Whatever!" Boy was I wrong. This is a sweet, slightly green and fresh easy to wear fragrances. I actually smelled it upon delivery and wore it before the fragrances I actually chose and bought. It is IMO a safe blind buy.

Just tried the discovery set of Whispers Of series and this was the only one that stood out to me in a good way (the others, oh good grief I could not with them). Smells like a fresher, greener take on Marc Jacobs Daisy and actually pairs well with that scent when layered. Has a dewy green and clean profile and I'm surprisingly drawn to it because I typically do not like green fragrances. This one is well-blended and although soft, it does have sillage and body. My mom, who has zero interest in fragrances, actually compliments this one every time I spray it on and it is a lingering smell in the room where I spray it. Highly recommended for those who like Daisy or meadow fresh scents that want an easy (albeit expensive) reach.

It opens soft and quiet even though it has that bergamot in it. The apricot note balances the typical citrus scent. For me this scent would be worn to bed or in the house as it's not as punchy as I would like. It's a subtle scent that puts me in a quiet reflective mood for some reason. It is perfect for a snuggle day with a good book, especially if the rain is falling lol. I feel like you could overspray this and it would still not be offensive.

This is a safe (crowd pleaser) fruity floral. It smells nice, clean. It’s nothing special however. Not worth the $ for the fragrance.

Whispers of Guidance? Loud voices of ordinary.... "nurturing and encouragement, this fragrance brings about direction and wisdom...." Really? Who writes this drivel and/or what committee agrees women need direction and wisdom and are looking for it in their perfume? And at full retail over $300? Some perfume seller sent me a sample of this scent with something else I ordered. Otherwise I would never have smelled it. Don't be fooled by the "hints of cedarwood (atlas??? what's that?) and patchouli. Truly they are only hints. This juice reminds me a lot of those freesia scents that saturated the early 1990's that I thought we were rid of. It's not horrible but you could get the same thing for under $50. None of this looks that interesting at a distance either. I saw them as a bunch of odd glass pincushions on Neiman Marcus' counter a couple of months ago and you can hardly pick them up. I had visions of dropping one and having to pay for the broken glass. Not the fragrance to get a quick whiff from before the salespeople start hovering.

This is the second sample I’ve tried from the Whispers garden (the first being Enlightenment) and the second time I’ve not been a fan. I’m new to fragrances and can’t say what it is, but there’s some underlying quality to the formula that keeps it from smelling gourmand and makes it more... something. Not powdery. Not floral. Synthetic? The only word I can think of is “perfumey,” but I realize how useless that is for a review on this site. In any case, rather than being a fragrance I can associate with the life and vibrancy of a fresh garden, I smell this and think “musty.” The kind of thing you use to mask bad odors, like a fruity Dove deodorant dialed up aggressively. I swear I also smelled (and hated) this quality in HoS’s Tiara and several other frags from their signature line. And for what it’s worth, I’m not another hater on the house. HoS has created some perfumes I’ve purchased and adored. They’re just turning out to be very hit or miss for me. Always sample before buying, friends!

I wish Fragrantica would fix the list of notes in this fragrance to show that it has a freesia note! Some of us are badly sensitive to freesia and don’t want to be tricked into trying a perfume that secretly has freesia. Ugh

Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring? Fresh-cut grass, watery florals, citrusy breeze. It's like a tall glass of sparkling water, with tart fruit and flower petals. It has light shampoo / shower gel undertones, too. Clean, fresh, easy to wear. It screams, "You must get out and breathe the air deeply again!". Delicate, casual, inoffensive, pretty. I can hear the birds sing again. See people fall in love. Ethereal and joyful warm weather scent. Day time appropriate. Official notes (from the HoS website): Top Notes: Apricot, Mandarine Oil, Violet Leaf, Pineapple, Green Notes Heart Notes: Black Current, Rose, Freesia, Jasmine, Iris Base Notes: Cedar Wood Atlas, Patchouli, Amber, Sandalwood, Musk". I could smell most of the notes listed, blended perfectly, in harmony. Freesia, apricot and black current really stood out, for me. The base notes did not stand out, except for the fresh and clean musk; patchouli was like non-existent. On my skin, it lasted 8 hrs+. Extrait de parfum, with 20 - 30% essential oils. It was on the delicate side of things (scent-wise), with a nice projection. The bottle is cute, with bees and flowers design... and pretty colors...

I received the whispers in the garden discovery set. It seemed to have all my favorite accords so was excited to try that one first. For a moment I liked the fresh green and citrus but then it quickly settled into something that smelled like a fragrance from Bath & Body. There is something in the compound that has a distinctive "I am a cheap scent". Like dime store cheap that I don't want to smell on myself ... and it lasted a good three hours. Guess I should have washed it off but was lazy. Not a keeper for me...so sad. I love the House of Sillage artistic sensibility.

The dry-down of this is extremely reminiscent of Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey, but better and less air-freshener. It does err on the side of generic, but all-in-all pleasant. It's quite light and fresh, but never sharp. This is what Nectarine Blossom & Honey wanted to be, but fell short of. House of Sillage fragrances are always nicely layered, I find, and never one-dimensional.

Edit: This is actually very nice. I get more of the citrus & berry now. The powder is minimal. If you like powdery fragrances, it's very well done. I'm not the biggest fan. I really like Jersey by Chanel, but that's really it. Whispers of Guidance is a good fragrance, it's just not my personal preference. I like fruity, sweet florals or woody orientals. This is a clean, powdery scent.

Very bright and zesty. The bergamot is strong and tart, while the black currant lends it's fruity sweetness (overall though, I wouldn't call this fragrance sweet). Not for me personally because I don't like black currant, but that's just my taste. The patchouli and iris are very subdued, and I get no apricot. Fresh, a little green, and suitable for spring and summer.

Better than Madison square park, more expensive smelling and longer lasting! This is so easy going and just very natural beauty kind of perfume. A woman who just wears jeans but they seem so dressy on her for some reason

Smells exactly like bond no 9 Madison square park or even scent of peace.

To my nose and skin, reminiscent of Bond No 9 Madison Square Park.
