Whispers of Strength

When I first tried this on a blind buy, I initially thought I wasn't going to like it. Put it away and didn't try it again until yesterday, and this time, it was just beautiful. I definitely smell the tuberose and the jasmine, and it is very white flower, which I can usually take or leave, but this one is different. Unlike others here, I definitely get the boysenberry in the top notes blending with the frangipani in an almost seamless way. As it develops it reveals a soft, warm, creamy jasmine that as you sniff it, it can actually create the feel or image of the petals of the flower in your mind, if that makes any sense outside of my head lol. I guess that translates as a smooth, velvety live flower petal feel in a fragrance. The dry down is just beautiful and does hold some of the opening and middle notes throughout, This feels young and innocent and would make a lovely wedding day fragrance as it has a wedding bouquet quality to it. The notes are quality, not cheap or synthetic smelling. It's a serious eau de parfum.

Often white florals are too heavy, and in this mix all the florals— Tuberose, Jasmine, frangipani—are working together to make an above average pretty, floral scent. The Amber and vanilla help transition into a smooth dry down. Whispers of Strength is a wonderful, uplifting and natural perfume. Not too heavy, and just right for many occasions. I do not understand the negative votes on Fragrantica, as I would classify Whispers of Strength as extremely easy to wear. Granted, some would consider me an “old lady” but I don’t understand that comment either. I see that this can be had for a good deal on eBay and the grey market, and if I can afford it, I would love to add this one to my collection.

Pretty, easy to like non-offensive fragrance. I get the berry note nice and strong and it adds a nice balanced to an otherwise annoying frangipani lol..to me frangipani can make me a bit sick to my stomach. Makes me think of beautiful clear summer skies, sitting out on a lawn for a picnic or just a nice lounge day. This is not a sexy fragrance, nothing I would wear to a date night or a night event. will come back to edit on longevity. Edit: Longevity wasn't too bad..approximately 6-7 hrs. The drydown was a soft beautiful amber skin scent. Projection: in the initial spray it was a little less than arm's length, so this definitely will sit close to you. I did smell my own scent bubble quite clearly though (i was indoors for the day, so not sure how it would perform outdoors). By evening it was definitely a skin scent.

The frangipani and tuberose are such good partners here. Nothing "old lady", this is pretty and vibrant.

Light white florals when sprayed with moderation. No frangipani or berry for me. Maybe a tiny hint of green. Doesn't give me old lady vibes, unless white florals=old lady (I'm new to frags and have no idea what's trendy or not). Makes me picture expensive springtime weddings and garden parties. I don't love it, but I'm also not into white florals. I tried it as part of a discovery set. For what it's worth, Whispers of Admiration is my fav of the bunch so far (and I only have Time and Truth left to try).

Overall, I don't love this. It has a very strong floral character, and I never encountered any vanilla or berries. I also found it very linear, which would be all right if I was a fan of the opening, but it didn't really evolve much over the hour and a half I was wearing it. I overdid it with my sample; I will try it again with a much lighter hand and see if the result is more pleasing or more complex. As it is, my reaction is that you have to be a really big fan of certain white florals. Impressions over time: Initially, I get a huge hit of florals, but no boysenberry. I'm not great at differentiating individual scents, but I think it's primarily tuberose—something transparent and half-dry, almost aquatic. At ten minutes it hasn't changed much, but the florals are a little less overwhelming. At 25 minutes it was still pretty much the same. Nothing super creamy or interesting, just mystery floral. It smells very clean, my wife just said "You smell like conditioner." An hour in, it's just the same. If this needs drydown time it needs a lot. At an hour and a half I went to bed, and it was gone by morning.

I'm an older female, but this is even too "old lady floral" for me. :-) The notes sound delicious, like it's going to be a floral, fruity mixture of goodness. But on my skin, it's just too much floral that meshes into an unpleasant fragrance with indistinguishable floral notes. I get absolutely no vanilla or amber - just florals that don't complement each other. Since I already have it in a travel size and several samples, I'll trying layering it with a vanilla body butter to see if it tones down the florals. **UPDATE** I layered this with Jo Malone Orange Bitters. It toned down the florals and boosted the Amber. That combination made this fragrance work for me.

This one can cause headaches or feel cloying if oversprayed... specially in the heat and humidity. It's strong, so be careful. I'm no stranger to beast mode perfumes, but this one is too much for me. I'll revisit it in winter.

Not my favorite. One would think I’d enjoy this because of the boysenberry but the flower in this one really displeases me.

I actually think this fragrance is beautiful. Yes, it is predominantly white floral, so if that's not your thing than don't bother. But it's very well balanced and gentle-- not a sweet bubblegum white floral, which is very popular in the mass market currently. White florals oftentimes end up too heady and indolic for me, but here they are bright and transparent. Just a touch green. I don't get much, if any, of the berry or frangipani. I'd say this is more fresh-springtime rather than tropical.

Very bland and 'flat' for lack of a better word. Like fizz that's gone out of a soda. I don't even get jasmine or tuberose. I get a boring melange of sharp (high pitched) non-descript florals with a note of vegetables. Mostly resembling celery. I get NO berry at anytime, which is a bummer since I grew up by Knotts Berry Farm and really wanted that Boysenberry note. Hard pass.

The boysenberry is prominent only for a few minutes after first spray; nevertheless, this remains a nice, lighter-than expected scent despite the abundance of white florals and the presence of amber in the drydown. The fragipani balances those notes out. This is the most 'serious' of all of the 'Whispers' scents, yet there is still something quite easy-going about it.

Delicate whisper of white flowers ...clean with depth but with nothing indolic. Envelopes the wearer with a feminine cloud of naturally sweet florals. The combination of tuberose, jasmine and frangipani is so alluring with that mildly elusive touch of tempered vanilla. Lasts a few hours after spraying then transforms into a lovely skin scent.
