Boss Bottled Oud

I wore this tonight for dinner and the new Bond movie. I thought it would suit the occasion. The movie was average (definitely no Skyfall), but the real star of the show for me was NOT Daniel Craig in his Tom Ford sunglasses, but the "Bottled Oud" cloud floating around me. You know your obsessed when someone leans over to ask you something about the movie, and you have no idea what the answer is, you haven't been paying attention.- Because throughout the movie what you've really been doing is trying to understand your cologne. I already knew in advance there would be many of you that would scoff and yet another "Oud release" from a Mass Market Branded House. Trust me, I had my doubts. I have sampled it here and there ever since I bought it, but today was the first time I wore it for several hours. I will admit, I was just as sceptical as the next person. However, my curiosity was peaked. I enjoy the Boss brand. It might not be my favourite brand since I would not describe myself as a hardcore business person, but I do wear a suit on occasion. If you have not tried it, you should. As I stated below, I find it interesting that this claims to have real oud in it's contents. The strange thing is that on first spray, the oud takes on a very leathery impersonation. (The thought crossed my mind that this should be called Bottled Leather instead.) I get the apple, citrus, and spices, sort of similar to Boss Bottled. There is something over simplified about this fragrance. You can tell there is a mass market trendy base. However the leathery-oud opening notes, and then light oud notes that stay with the scent for several hours, turn this Preppy Business man into some kind of Bad Boy. There is a duality here. Good longevity and silage. This is sort of like the dark side to Boss Bottled. The business man on the down low, he likes S&M on the weekend and nobody knows. He wants someone in high heels to step on him. A Business Man who has that bad boy side- A la 50 Shades of Grey. "Dominate me, give it to me rough." He loosens his tie and collar then rides his motorbike home from the office. He enjoys a dirty vodka Martini after work. There are two sides to this. The Gemini of Boss. It might not be for everyone. But then again not everyone wants to spend their Friday evenings in a leather harness & ball gag. I rate James Bond -Spectre as a 3.5 out of 5 stars. This fragrance is better.

This scent is a goddamn masterpiece. I really like the smell of original Boss Bottled - on my skin it smells exactly like apple pie - but I don't like smelling like original Boss Bottled - on account of not wanting to smell like a roaming apple pie all day. Bottled Oud keeps the nice apple apple-cinnamon scent of the original in the opening, but it leaves out a lot of the sweetness that makes the original smell like pastry. It replaces that sweetness with a warm, dry, woody crackling oud - more akin to the oud of Tom Ford's Oud wood than to any other oud I have encountered - that compliments the apple to perfection. The result is a perfume that smells less like baked goods and more like an olfactory orgasm. But even though I love the opening, it doesn't hold a candle to the drydown where the apple fades away and gives free reign to the wood. As the evening wears on and the lights go down this goes from being a phenomenal fruity/spicy scent with a twist to something more restrained, something mysterious, sensuous and dark. And that scent stays with you for a looooooong time. Because even though I am impressed by the scent, that is nothing compared to the longevity. One time I wore this under a sweater. I then put the sweater in my closet and didn't use it for a while. When I pulled it out three months later, I kid you not, the sweater still smelled like the drydown of bottled oud with almost the same intensity as a few hours after application. So if you want to make the most of this woody goodness, be sure to get a little on your clothes - preferably a jacket or something else you don't need to wash for a while - as you'll have a fantastic layering agent for weeks if not for months.

I've had this one in my collection for about a year now. Total blind buy as I wanted to try an oud that was a bit more accessible. I didn't know what to think of it at first. Well, now that I have tried a few different ouds, I think this one is at the very least a great starting point if you're interested in the note. For me, this is probably what I will go with if I crave an oud fragrance. They should probably keep this one in production as it's easily one of the better Bottled flankers. Opens with a bright and crisp green apple, a bit of spice. The spices are not easily discernible but it smells very "autumn" like. You can definitely smell the oud throughout which gives it a slight medicinal vibe (I think that's the oud at least). It doesn't particularly change a lot, to my nose. Oud, apple and spice is what you'll get. It's a nice fragrance, though and again, if you want to buy the oud hype give this one a shot. As for performance, you aren't going to happen across too many "Bottled", let alone Boss fragrances, that will outdo this one. I had a hard time scrubbing this one off me (not that I wanted to scrub it, just in the process of showering). Great longevity, nice sillage. I can't see it working well outside fall/winter. Definitely manly, probably not for the younger men. Hard to pinpoint an occasion to wear this. Too loud for the office. Wouldn't recommend it for a date since it's somewhat polarizing. Not sure on that end. This is the conundrum I normally get into when I want to wear this. Overall, a great fragrance that I have a hard time fitting into any sort of rotation.

This is one of my absolute favorite scents. Everyone calling this oud note out as being "synthetic" is just plain batty! To me, this is a nice, realistic, funky agarwood note. I would be astonished if this juice didn't contain real oud. I'd wanted to smell this version of Boss Bottled for ages. I remember walking into the Boss store at the mall several times -- hopeful I'd get to smell it, but I was always let down. They never had it in stock. I started to feel like it'd been discontinued and I'd never get to smell it. One day they ACTUALLY had it behind the counter! Honestly, after waiting nearly a year to smell it I was expecting disappointment. What I got instead was pure joy! The young kid behind the counter seemed amazed when I immediately pulled out my wallet. He wasn't fond of the Oud at all, and encouraged me instead to buy the Boss Bottled Unlimited, which he said was his favorite. My fiance agreed with him. She did not like the Oud either. It took everything inside of me not to call them both "a pair of tasteless windbags." I'm joking, of course -- I like Bottled Unlimited, but that scent doesn't speak to my heart like the Bottled Oud does. Seriously, it's that good. And after a few months of wear, my fiance admits the oud has grown on her, as oud generally does. It's a strange scent at first, especially to us unaccustomed westerners. It takes a trained nose to begin to understand and appreciate it. Oud, apple, and cinnamon, in descending order of potency. That's what you get with this fragrance. And I adore it.

very nice oud fragrance! it has the character of the great boss bottled with oud, so this is a true flanker, not something completely different. it opens a bit fruity, with a syrupy apple combined with cinnamon, saffron and a touch of oud which doesnt smell weird, but adds a new twist to the original dna. so boss bottled oud is very easy to wear, the blend is well made, balanced and elegant. the quality here is high, more than the other flankers. on the box the company claims there is 100% real oud but i dont know how much is..however, if u like the mighty dna of the original boss bottled you will like this version too. otherwise, if u hate the original go for another fragrance, this is not for you. for casual and formal occasions, for winter, fall, and spring. age 25 and up. good longevity(6-7 hours), moderate projection for the first 1-1,5 hour. so nothing to complain about performance. great value for the price! boss bottled oud è un piacevole profumo che aggiunge al mitico boss bottled un tocco orientale senza essere "strano". un oud facile da indossare, un blend ben fatto e un rapporto qualità-prezzo davvero competitivo. se l'originale non vi piace è meglio optare per un'altra scelta. scent-8,5 long-8 sillage-7,5 versatility-8,5 presentation-7,5 uniqueness-8 back up bottle worthy? maybe compliment factor-7,5 my vote-8 in one word- syrup alternative- boss bottled intense. if u need the oud u can pick armani oud pour homme

Hugo Boss released this one as a límited special edition. First as EDT version, and later as EDP. I've got the EDP. It was sold only in certain stores, although it finally reached some well-known discounters... What is unclear is how long it'll remain available. Well, this is a very special fragrance. The first question that comes to mind: How oud's note fits into the olfactory universe of Hugo Boss fragrances? The result responds with extraordinary clarity: "With a lot of class." This is not a typical "oud fragrance"; this is a Boss fragrance to which the magic of oud's aroma is added, creating something very modern and elegant. So for those looking for the typical opulent combination of Oud & Rose and Saffron, better look elsewhere.... This is something different. And yes: The fragrance is totally based on 100% Natural Oud's note that is ubiquitous... In a very, very pleasant and stylish "designer" way. - Longevity: > 8h (skin) , huge in clothes. - Projection: Moderate, but intense. - Mood: It is a luxurious and elegant scent, perfect for dressed-up nights. - Scenario & Occasions: Nights throughout the year, except those that are excessively hot. I love this one. It has the DNA of the original Boss Bottled with a fruity vibe and a little bit of oud that seems invisible in the background like a friendly ghost. The whiff and the scent trail of this frag is quite gorgeous, not a beast mode but masculine. Longevity is good and projection is moderate on my skin. One thing though, I noticed it smells plasticky if you sniff directly from your skin. Probably its just my nose but there's like a plastic vibe to it like the scent of a new plastic toy or rubber doll if you sniff closer but to my nose, it doesn't smell weird or off putting. If you move farther away from your skin, immediately you can smell that fruity aroma with a hint of citrus, simply gorgeous. I am glad to have this in my collection and I am wearing it as part of my autumn frags rotation along with my new discovery, Black Panther from Alexandria fragrances :) Happy sniffing and collecting my frag folks. Funny enough, the first time I put this on and walked into the room, my wife said I smelt “warm and spicy” which is the top accord for this fragrance. I have 4 Hugo Boss fragrances in my collection at the moment and I would rate this as the best of the 4. I do like Oud though, which many people are not keen on. For me it has a fresh apple and citrus opening. The scent then dries down to a more softer apple and cinnamon combination (like an apple cinnamon dessert) with the Oud underlying it. The other notes are not that strong to me. On my skin it smells very pleasant and lasts at least 7-8 hours, although it’s projection dies off after 3-4 hours. This smells classy and is probably better for well-dressed special occasions. It’s not really a casual or office scent for me. It’s a mature scent and better for cooler weather. I’m in Australia and I think in summer, this would make me feel sticky and hot. If you like the DNA of the Hugo Boss scents and want to explore Oud, this is any easy blind buy. If you are really into Oud, this one might be a bit tame for you and I suggest testing before buying.

Hi Bigsly, Do you know I have wanted to sample the Jovan Oud. I've read all the reviews but I have yet to sample that one. Just as you wrote in your article a few blogs ago, price does not indicate quality or "better scent". "Cheap" scents are sometimes "better smelling" than expensive designer frags. Of course it just comes down to personal preference since this is a somewhat subjective arena. Take this one for example, "Bottled Oud". I was able to purchase it privately for a great price. Well worth it. I have seen it retailed for over $100. I can't say it's any worse than some of the $500 Oud's in my collection. Perhaps you can tell that some of the ingredients in the base are more common. (Apple) BUT! I do not like it any less. This is not always the case. Have you tried Kanon Agarwood? I do NOT care for that one. Just as though I have some quality high end frag's, where it is obvious no lower end scent can compete with the quality of the notes. Anyhow, you have peaked my curiosity. I am going to contact Boss to see if I can find out any more information. If I do, I will share it.

Opens very fresh and citrusy along with a sweet oud. As it dries down, the oud becomes less and less noticable. What you are left with is an almost aquatic citrus with smokiness. For those who are a fan of "blue" fragrances and would like to dabble in oud territory, this is your fragrance right here! The oud in here is nothing like your typical oriental oud, far from it! It's more a mass appealing, synthetic, designer oud. I don't mean that in a bad way, in fact I think this fragrance is amazing. But I also think it was marketed incorrectly. For those who are enthusiasts of oud, you will be disappointed. This is a very mass appealing fresh oud fragrance. Some people might think I'm crazy, but in the dry down, this reminds me a lot of ADG Profumo. The oud is just the icing on the cake in this fragrance; the real stars of the show are the apple/citrus combo that give this is a frash, mass appealing, and highly versatile vibe. Highly recommended for those who prefer designer perfumes. But if you're more into niche fragrances, you'll probably not like Boss Bottled Oud.

What can I say ? This is a revelation as designer fragrances go. Apple, oud that is not skanky but attractive, saffron and lifts the mood in a good way. Too easy to grab for. One tip, it’s not a strong projector so use a decent moisturiser after showering and then spray This reminds me of an amouage, seriously folks. I’d say it’s blind buy safe as the oud is attractive and fresh, when added with the other notes. Highly recommend this one. It’s tough to choose between this and elixir, I love both. We get niche notes at designer prices. This is being discounted if you shop around. A complete love, for me. 11/10. Well done BOSS on producing a Middle Eastern take, for western tastes. Top notch juice I can wear this all year round, it actually projects better in cooler weather but most do. Day or night. Still not overly popular so garners compliments. As the Nike advert says, just do it No, I have no affiliation to BOSS.

Oh, man, this is beautiful! A lovely Middle Eastern rendition of the original Boss Bottled; woodier, spicier. Take the original Boss Bottled. Add some oud. Add some saffron. Add some spices (cinnamon, cloves). & you get Boss Bottled Oud. I don't see eye to eye with the criticism here. I've smelled fragrances marketed as "oud" with less oud in them than this fragrance, yet people hailed them & held them high. It's true, though, but it applies to almost all of the new oud fragrances: The oud is not as noticeable as the name suggests, but here it's still there more than the others. My only complaint is the price. It's about 150% the price of the original Boss Bottled, but that could be justified because it "contains 100% natural oud". Overall, one of the best masculine fragrances to come from this "new wave of oud".

At first spray, I thought it smelt like flyspray (Mortein in Australia). But on the drydown, gees it just gets better and better with time. It settles to a fruity, Christmas mince pie character with that mysterious deep wood backdrop. Or the smell of deep, dark, sweet hardwood timbers; I keep thinking of fine pianos for some reason. Nothing like the barnyard character typically associated with oud. Weird (in a good way) and an unapologetic scent. This was a blind buy on ebay because of the good price and because of its (alleged) use of natural oud. Sorry Polo Green (with it’s continual reformulations), Boss Bottled Oud is my new favourite. I’ve now bought a backup bottle and thinking of another due to its scarcity. You can always rely on that legendary Hugo Boss reliability and quality.

Newest bottle up. Scent and texture is closer to Supreme Leather within my collection. It competes there on the undercard. Its nowhere near as smoky as the top designer Ouds. This Boss Bottled flanker just went extinct on fragranceX. If there is another batch boxed, ready for next season then that will probably be it. I doubt they keep stiring this. The apple is more aromatic then melted. It takes more sprays than heavier ouds. Its decent, the price was right for what it is. Light Oud, but this is still not a gym scent i can feel it cloying in that situation. It does have a lane as last call for Oud, getting into late March, early April. Typical day in the life styler type fragrance.

I would buy it again, unfortunately not available any longer. This is my most complimented one and most talked about. Nothing to do with Boss Bottled. I love this so much. Hands down one of the most luxurious aromas you will smell. Gorgeously dark, semi-sweet, woody spice. A perfect natural blend of high performing ingredients in harmony together. The prominent Agarwood (Oud) note is strong, but gentle. There's nothing synthetic about this beauty. It is very pleasant and a great start for Oud-fanatics. I'm also picking up saffron, cinnamon and the everlasting apple note. 'Bottled Oud' takes the crown of the entire line. Moderate to great performance and sillage; 4 hours of projection, 8 hours of longevity. When you find out about this cologne, nothing else will matter.

Very similar to Ambre by Baldessarini but with a slightly darker undertone to it because of the oud note. Don't let the oud note fool you, it is predominately overwhelmed by the classic Boss Bottled apple/cinnamon combo. The oud seems to fade away just as quickly as it enters as after about 2min it is nothing but apple, cinnamon, and cloves. Very pleasant scent that is extremely relaxing and warm. The longevity could be better however as I find myself needing to re-apply after about 3 to 4hrs. Overall - I give it an 8/10. If the longevity was slightly better, I'd easily give it an 8.5 or 9.

I get a sour almost plastic leathery scent from this. I wish I could like it but gonna have to sell this one off. I was hoping for a dark dirty spicy maybe a bit sweet scent but this thing is bright and off putting to my nose. If you’re wanting Boss Bottled Edp with oud.. ya this ain’t it!!! Not horrible but definitely try before you buy. ***I was wrong, I gave this another full wear and I get it. I can smell the Boss backbone and that oud saffron really settles down after an hour. The beginning of this fragrance isn’t the best but wait until for dry down for it to really shine through.***

A excelllent addition to the Boss bottled line and well deservingly too I might add. Boss bottled Oud is a very pleasant sweet smelling fragrance.that compliments the bottled line in is classy touch about it. When I first started trying out Oud fragrances I was a little cautious and unsure but soon after became to really love them. Hugo Boss Oud I give a 9 out of 10 for its all round quality and performance. It sticks around for a long time(10hrs) with just two blasts of it. The projection is pretty good also that last for about 3 hrs. A beautiful fragrance to have in a collection!

Gorgeous aoud fragrance that is not to be missed. I get a soft, yet mature oud, that is a little on the dark side. There is a soft warming spice that helps the aoud have that wonderful leather like feel. The cinnamon apple Hugo boss dna is a beautiful match, making this a warm, cozy and even sensual creation. I was worried I would never love a hugo boss creations, but when I tried this I was blown away. One of the best western designer aouds for the money and on the market. 6 to 7 hours longevity, fair projection, good sillage

I have to say what an amazing fragrance. I get the apple at first hit with spices. The clove and cinnamon are not too strong but I can definitely detect their presence. A beautiful woodiness throughout and definitely masculine. Fantastic longevity on my skin with only 3 sprays. I would agree with the description that this feels opulent,high quality and luxurious. I purchased the 50ml EDP but once finished I will definitely buy the 100ml. This will be perfect for the autumn and winter but sprayed lightly anytime really.

I love it.. it’s a woodier more punchy version of Boss Bottled that performs and projects decently. I read others comments and I detect nothing funky or off putting like some may notice while wearing Oud. I’d highly doubt there is much Oud in this. If you can find it from the grey market I’d highly suggest picking this one up. I slept on Boss Bottled Intense EDP like an idiot and regret not getting that. This is probably the best one from the line up left that can still be had.

Okay So I am still waiting for them to reply to my email and there has been no response. I sent it to several different customer service "email addy's" I found on their website, and ZERO response. So I wonder if they are trying to hide something? Perhaps Bigsly is right. Perhaps their claim that each bottle uses real Oud is sketchy? You should at least have SOME kind of response to a customer. Especially a customer that blogs, LOL.

This is one of the best commercial oud fragrance i have owned. Pretty subtle and sophisticated, not too dark nor bright. Pretty much has the similar characteristics like Bvlgari man in black. Perfectly balanced Oud, sandal, spices and tinge of sweet and very little citrus accord. It is not a summer fragrance, but warm and woody. Best steal for the price. Until it gets reformulated. Suitable for any occasion. 10/10

I always loved Boss Bottled. This one is just amazing, the oud / apple / cinnamon blend is done so perfectly! German high quality for a wonderful fragrance. Don't listen to people saying it's not good enough or too "entry level" etc... just try it. The drydown is amazing as well. Definitely smells high class, and not any entry level as some of the YouTube reviewers tend to say. Wonderful fragrance, period.

This smells great. Gooey apple and cinnamon. The Oud in this dodges a lot of the weird turns other oud scents go for. It's not funky/animalic/barnyard/fecal. It's just sexy. As someone who isn't too big on gourmand type fragrances this is fantastic. Not at all cloying either. Performance is okay. Projects around 1.5-2 hours and total life of around 8 hours. Nothing crazy but good enough.

It's a very familiar DNA that many people know, yet very different with the presence of "natural" oud. No skank, just freshness and woodiness. Still held to the original boss bottled DNA while staying unique. Apple, Sandalwood, Cinnamon, and Oud is what you'll get; addition of saffron makes it slightly Leathery but just slightly. decent longevity and sillage.

Opening apply woody smell is really nice. The wood comes in fast and the blend nice. The mid notes are more calm smelling like fresh apple, the wood basically disappeared. After about 6 hrs, the apple disappears and an oud base layer remains. Like thick woody. It mentions citrus at the bottom of teh accords above but I'm not getting any.

First impressions, startled by the intensity of the oud, very sweet and spicy, reminding me of Oud Woody Intense. It sparkles, blended with boss bottled dna apple pie, intense, gourmand, yummy, and cinnamon, citrus, lemony, so delicious., no poopy harsh oud vibe, all sweet, all loveliness. Need full bottle, will buy full bottle.

Having grown up with elders around me wearing all sorts of oud oils and fragrances, I have to say Boss Bottled Oud is probably the safest oud fragrance out there. Its opens up rather fresh with the apple note and drys down smoothly with the oud. Not animalic and would attract curiosity and compliments instead of offending noses.

One of the easiest to wear oud fragrances I've smelled. It has a lot of the original Boss Bottled DNA with an added smoky oud note. It smells like a smoky spiced apple. It's a great introduction to oud. Performance is moderate. I get about 6 hours with moderate projection. Overall, I really like this one a lot.

Tobacco, oud, apple. Tobacco is not listed in the notes but it's strong. It is a pleasant, slightly sweet smell like fresh pipe tobacco. Very nicely done with class. The label of "boss" fits this fragrance well. Decent projection and longevity. The oud is tame, pleasant and inoffensive. Love it. Wife loves it.

Sweet, oud, spicy and warm. Definitely more of a sophisticated evening fragrance. Would be too strong during the day. Can't really think of anything like it, and anything that does come close, either carries more sophistication and less playfulness, or vice versa. It's a happy medium.

How can you ever see this in a store or online and not add it because it’s hugo boss? This is too good to be true. The price is moderate but performance is a beast. Literally you could wear this anywhere. And it would make sense... it’s very powerful

Literally Boss Bottled EDT + Synthetic Oud and Leather It's a safe oud scent. Some ladies will not hate you. But it is still oud ) This also smells a bit similar to Armani Code Absolu, but Code is sweeter and Bottled Oud is more oudy and punchy.

Wow, Beautiful fragrance, love it, Nice scent from the top notes to the dry down. The performance is great, Very good sillage and longevity , I sprayed it at 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening, I'm still smelling it. Good job Hugo Boss.

I like Boss fragrances and have all the Boss bottled line this is a nice scent very sweet that drys down nicely I have found it lasts a decent 7 hours but could be down to skin type I have found that fragrances last a while on my skin.

You dont have to spend a lot of money to get excellent oud fragrance with niche quality. This is so good, masculine, modern with beautiful authentic oud / saffron notes, sandalwood and sour apple. No rose. Longevity is excellent.

I must say. Wow! It smells rich I can clearly smell oud from the first sniff. It is warm, pleasent, tiny bit sweet It's fantastically blended and has a good projection and silage. True banger. Love it!

Took a chance on a blind buy with this and like it so much, I have four different oud scents and each is different in their own way, this is an enjoyable warm spicy scent with good longevity

Thick wet skanky Burnt rubber kinda oud opening. Dries down to a dark warm nutty oud with sweetness and spices. Blind buy this if you like Oud and boss bottled

I strongly agree with Bart's review below. And I also find Boss's claim that this fragrance contains natural Oud (not synthetic), to be quite interesting.

This is a great oud fragrance. It is one of the best from the Boss bottled line and I get 14 hrs longevity on my clothes! I give this a 9.3/10.

This is one of the best scents in my collection sweet oud smells like a wonderous forest of sweet cinnamon sugar cane and coca cola...

I bought it by chance in action, I do not regret it, very good scent for winter, love for the first sense of smell...
