Boss Bottled Triumph Elixir

This does roughly what you might expect if you're familiar with its notes and Boss Bottled Elixir. Incidentally, as I'm sure others have mentioned, Boss do not list violet leaf as a component of this but do list labdanum absolute, although the ingredients list on the box also mentions alpha-isomethyl ionone, and ionones are connected with violet and violet leaf accords. There definitely is a prominent ozonic-aquatic accord in the opening, although to me, a lover of violet leaf, this smells a little more like cucumber than violet or violet leaf. Consequently, although I can understand others' likening this to Dior Fahrenheit, I wouldn't say they were all that close. This one is mostly about the patchouli anyway (which itself has an intangibly nebulous, semi-camphorous kind of ambience that chimes in beautifully with the ozonic component for as long as that hangs around); notwithstanding the presence of labdanum (which can be leathery), the patchouli's relative prominence does not make for any brusque Fahrenheit-type petrol accord or hyper-masculine leatheriness. This is much more restrained and readily wearable than Fahrenheit. This becomes increasingly similar to BBE, but I am glad to have got this as well as BBE. The thick, chocolaty aspect of the patchouli that is obvious in BBE as the more opulently Oriental perfume is somewhat reined in here, or just isn't amped up by a great deal of ambery opulence in the surrounding notes and accords as in BBE. Also, the top end of this fragrance is not nearly as shrill as BBE's. While BBE makes me think of something or other akin to being lovingly choked with a Fry's Turkish Delight chocolate confection, it occurs to me that this one reminds me somewhat of Tauer's L'Air du Désert Marocain, although the Tauer is more complex and probably, for at least a while, has more presence. The Tauer is a pretty damn good fragrance for this to remind me of. I love the smell of BBE but find it almost unwearably brash, thick, and sweet. I often end up layering it with less assuming scents to mitigate its intensity. This one hits the sweet spot for me along all the relevant axes. I have no qualms about wearing it.

It works especially well in autumn and winter, but can be used in any season if applied in moderation, except summer. Hugo Boss hit the mark with the creation of this perfume. It maintains the elegant DNA of the Boss Bottled line, but adds depth, texture, and complexity that put it on another level. Final score: 9.4/10 A striking, sophisticated, and modern perfume, the kind of fragrance that impresses both the wearer and those who smell it. A true success for Hugo Boss, demonstrating that it's possible to combine niche luxury with the appeal of contemporary design.

Throw Dior Homme or Kayaan Classic on top , smooth it out, add refinement Or —Add Gentleman Reserve Privée , give it a little warmth and class Or go Bentley for Men Intense → double down on that dark, boozy backbone Now you’ve got something custom. Something with character. This isn’t for everybody—and that’s the point. But if you like masculine, grounded, beast-mode scents... anything rocking with patchouli , Boss Absolu or Mancera Red tobacco. 👉 Give it a shot and thank me later. Now My take , Triumph Elixir is patchouli done right—front and center, unapologetic, and built with purpose. This isn’t a background note quietly supporting the composition; this is the backbone of the entire fragrance. The patchouli anchors everything, keeping any sweetness in check so it never drifts into candy territory. Instead, it creates a dark, grounded base that gives the scent real weight and presence. Supported by touches of violet I think? (Iris?) and vetiver, the composition stays controlled and structured, but make no mistake—what you’re really smelling is that rich, earthy patchouli pushing through from start to finish. If you’re familiar with the way patchouli works under the tobacco and vanilla in Red Tobacco or in Boss Bottled Absolu, you already understand the effect. Here, it just takes center stage. That’s why it feels thick, powerful, and long-lasting. It’s not loud for the sake of being loud—it’s dense, deliberate, and built to sit on the skin with authority. Best in cooler weather, where the depth can unfold properly without getting heavy. This is not a crowd-pleaser. It’s a statement piece for people who appreciate structure, weight, and that dark backbone that only patchouli can provide.

First impressions, and I’ll update after some wear, but: This is definitely just a tweak of the regular elixir, not truly a new fragrance. Similar to how Light Blue Italian Love is a tweak of Forever. The box says there is labdanum in the base, but it’s not listed on the page here. It also doesn’t list violet leaf, but whatever. The biggest difference I get is elixir had frankincense and olibanum, so it had a SLIGHT touch of incense-y vanilla spice. In triumph, it’s got violet leaf instead, so it’s got a SLIGHT green touch. Without that whisper of vanilla, it makes the patchouli stand out much more. Over all, these are super close, and in the air I have a hard time distinguishing them, but I can if I put my face in it. TL;DR: Definitely smells good, but feels repetitive. Edit: having done a side by side comparison, they are definitely different, but I think the average person won’t be able to pinpoint how. In the air I just smell all that earthy patchouli, and there isn’t anything to separate the two. Some people may not agree, but they aren’t different enough to justify needing both. They have similar longevity and project (both push out pretty good, both last all day), and I can’t think of a single occasion where you could wear one but not the other. FWIW, I prefer the original, but Triumph is the nicer looking bottle.

Took me ages to complete the 3 Alpha's in the Boss bottled line....Elixir and Absolu have their places locked in. With Triumph Elixir, I took too long. But when it arrived, I understood it immediately. So much so, I personally think it's my favourite of the 3. All are related to an extent, but Triumph is closer to Elixir, with lovely flashes of ozonic violet leaf. To my ape brain, It's as if someone at Boss spilt 30% Fahrenheit into 60% of Elixir then added an extra-dose of Patchouli to accompany the resinous base. I get around 9 hours, with moderate projection for 2 hours. It doesn't shout, but it makes it presence noted. The other two I reckon are Winter/Autumn scents, but wear it when you like. With the fresher addition of Violet leaf, I can imagine Triumph up to Spring and cooler Summer days, making it far more usable and versatile for the year. This aint for Fairies or Candy-Floss appreciators. Here be Masculine energy, unapologetically so. Very Unique, while being very familiar. I love what Boss have been doing for the last 3 years, and here is another example of them going off reservation to create something "niche" smelling while retaining elements of it's stablehouse and a nod to a legendary classic. I love this, and I hope rumours of discontinuation are unfounded. 9/10

I've owned this one for over a week now, and given it several wearings in cool to moderate temps. Love it. Absolutely love it. I'd say it is my favorite designer release of the year so far (as of 04-24), and I think this one is going to be hard to top. I see violet as a listed top note, but I don't really notice too much of it if it is there. My wife said that this is one of the best fragrances she's smelled in the air in recent memory. I didn't tell her what it was, but it caught her attention immediately. It is definitely patchouli heavy, and slightly reminiscent of the OG Boss Bottled elixir, but lighter and a bit more...airy? I'm not sure how to describe it, other than to say it is somewhat heavy up-close, and lighter and more open in the air than the breakdown suggests. Longevity and projection/sillage are crazy off of my dry, fragrance-annihilating skin, and I got an easy 8 plus hours with a nice scent trail. Still detectable on skin the next morning easily. If you like the OG BB elixir, you'll probably love this one too. Not redundant at all to me, I love both of them. Just my opinion,YMMV Update 7/24: This is backup bottle worthy. Going to grab a couple big ones, this stuff has really impressed me a lot.

This is hands down my favorite of the recent elixir/absolu offerings from Boss. I own all of them, but came to the realization a few weeks ago that my elixir and absolu have hardly a dent in them, and I am already on my second 50ml of this. So, I ordered a big bottle and will most likely sell the elixir and Absolu, as they aren't getting worn. It isn't that they are bad fragrances, far from it. They are great. But this one has more unique signature than those. The violet/patchouli combo in this is absolutely fantastic. And this actually outperforms my BBE by a pretty good amount in projection. BBE sits close to the skin. I find Absolu to be a bit too situational. Triumph can be worn pretty much anywhere, anytime except hot weather. It is more unique, and more versatile. Probably going to order another backup or two, since I have proven to myself that I will reach for it often in cold weather. This one probably won't be around long, since 'unique' and 'short-lived' seem to be synonymous in fragranceland...

This is really good. Not as good as Bottled Absolu or the Bottled or The Scent Elixirs, but it is damned close and definitely more wearable/versitile. Can be worn in all seasons except super hot summer days IMO. Opens with a bit of violet and I almost get some kind of berry fruit. Kinda weird in a good way. The patchouli and violet is there thruout for sure and I do get a bit of petrol on the dry down, but nothing as in your face as Fahrenheit. It is slightly sweet and also slightly ambery, but it is very well blended. I can see people getting a bit of leather and vetiver but I am still on the fence there. I would never have guessed this was made by Boss, but this and the two Elixirs and the Absolu are all fantastic. I haven’t liked anything Boss has released in 30+ years and I ended up buying all 4 of the Boss fragrances I mentioned in the last year. Great to see Boss finally killing it. 👍

For the first few hours, I definitely smelled aquatic and ozonic notes, a positively strange experience. I would have preferred something a bit earthier, but what a beautiful scent from start to finish for violet, vetiver, and patchouli lovers. A simple, complex creation. Absolutely loved, I quickly ordered a bottle while it's still available. A fantastic series of Bottled Parfums: Triumph Elixir, Absolu, and Elixir. But this is my number 1 - De eerste paar uur ruik ik zeker wel het aquatische en ozonische, een positief vreemde ervaring. Had voor mij nog best iets aardser gemogen, maar wat een prachtige geur van begin tot einde voor de viooltjes, vetiver en patchoeli liefhebber. Een simpel complex werkje. I love me some patchouli . And it’s there the entire time With some vetiver for quite a while. I like this. A lot actually. But ! It’s not as strong as the spicy Inscense Essence Boss bottled elixir in the brown bottle. That’s the Bomb, A Masterpiece blend of ingredients . A must buy !!! But This is the Bomb too if you want a woodsy patchouli Bomb. This is an earthy woodsy patchouli scent. I’m already layering it with by the fire place and A Terroni clone. Well not layering,Just Using in combination ,Big difference. Layering certain things are just blasphemous. But I do enjoy the Harmony of perfect accords. This elixir is great on the forearms. With a dash of by the fire place or Raghba wood on the wrist and between the elbow crease. Then I like smelling it up and down when I put it on. Damn I smell good !!!

I've had this for over a month now, wore it only once, on the request of my geisha (let's call her that) after she heard me profess my love and excitement for it. Had to break my OCD, my systems, my life for her pleasure, just so she could smell it on me. She didn't like it, smelled old-ish to her. It's similar to the OG Elixir - as they say in the promo the base is there, but this has that added patchouli, more than anything else, that's done reeeeally good. I didn't find it lighter than the OG, equally dense to me, and equally enjoyable if you're into heavier, resinous scents. Might be redundant though, if you already own the OG (as I do). The notes written on the box are different than on this site, vetiver, patchouli, labdanum absolute. Patchouli and labdanum seem to be prevailing. Great stuff.

This fragrance is simply put, a masterpiece. Though there are only three notes, I feel like there has to be so many more. This fragrance gives off hints of strong fruitiness in the opening, giving off a strong plum and grapefruit smell, and as it dries down, you begin to smell some woods and spices in there. Alas, they aren’t there. It really does smell AMAZING to me. As mentioned previously, the opening is very sweet, giving off a very fruity and candy-like scent profile. With that, I would have to disagree with everyone saying this is mainly a winter/fall fragrance. This very easily rocks during the summer, even with the dry down. Highly recommend.

After the initial opening for me this is really enjoyable, kind of mysterious, sweetish, slightly fresh earthy, choclatey from the patchouli I’m guessing really drys down to a masculine creamy as everything rounds out pretty perfectly and smells in perfect harmony. I’ve only tried this once as it just came in but I do look forward to my next wear. Not really a safe blind buy but if you do, you will have high quality product as your senses develop. Pretty much year round with the exception of middle of summer. This performs really well, longevity great, does not project loud enough to blow a roof off but projects perfectly for the scent that it is.

This was the first ever cologne I bought, and I would say it’s probably the second best one I have behind Givenchy gentleman society Ambrée, This Cologne is very woody and patchouli. It is very good for all season except for winter and I probably wouldn’t wear it at day but it is still suitable. The longevity is very long lasting as I can go the entire day without needing to add more on, the silliage is also very good and radiates a lot, when you walk into a room people will definitely be able to smell you as you enter. The smell is very strong and intense while not giving a headache. Very good 9.9/10

This will likely be a blasphemous statement to some ... but I prefer Triumph over Boss Bottled Elixir. It has that same underlying DNA, but the patchouli really elevates it. Elixir dips a toe into niche waters but its a bit more mass appealing. Triumph puts both feet in and offers something unique. The initial spray can be intense at first, but after a few minutes it develops. The magic is in the dry down, it creates a wonderful airy aura around you and it lasts a long time. This is a terrific fragrance, and is versatile for all year round wear day and night.

Is Boss recent releases on fire or what? Now I own the Absolu and the elixir they are both great for the colder days only. And this one is really exciting for me, it does remind me of JPG Kokorico but this one is even better and stronger! Sweet earthy patchouli, It's like raining on soil with violet rose, It's addicting for me. I'm very happy with it because it's not just another boring designer release, It's what you wish for designer companies to create. Edit: 7/3/2026 it's becoming one of my favorites that I bought another backup bottle.

This smells similar to Narciso Rodriguez for him EDT. NOT EXACT! But the similarities are there. The same genre, if that makes sense. Narciso has that bit of an old school take on fragrances, 80's 90's vibe. This is one is more dry modern take on an ozonic scent profile. just take away the musks from Narciso Rodriguez for him and add a clay dough note with earthy undertones. This one is A lot darker, for sure. I love it. Not mass appealing and very good quality and niche like. If you are not into (SAFE) perfumes, this is for you!

Triumph Elixir has similarities to Bottled Elixir but it's definitely an easier wear and suits all occasions. They took away the incense opening and made it simple with a violet leaf additional which wasn't listed on the box, less resinous too. The Ambery labdanum absolute still there after couple hours and it's the same earthy patchouli which is pretty nice. Masculine and nice but maybe kinda dull and uninteresting to some wearers. I'll wear it a few more times and see

Boss has definitely become one of the brands I take altogether more seriously these days. This is an excellent release, there's definitely that boss DNA running through it, but there's something else, something a lot more intense. The name made me chuckle, made me think of a 1970's saloon car, but it deserves a fancy name, it is a quality release, woody, but uplifting with some sweetness. Performance on my skin was very good, even survived a shower. I'd recommend it.

Got this by accident, I wanted to order the original Bottled Elixir and got this instead. I’m not pissed, it’s just as good. Not that strong but that’s actually not a bad thing, since you won’t choke people around you. It just doesn’t project as much. The drydown is almost the same with a bit more patchouli. The opening is still harsh, altough different. Try both and decide which one’s for you. I recommend this one if you don’t like being extra loud.

This is a weird one. If i just spray on a piece of paper or wall then it smells like a fruity cucumber water. On my skin it turns to a woody and leathery but on my clothes it's more sweet and woody. Still smell like it's core tho, earthy, violet, vetiver, and patchouli. Strangely enough I love it! It reminds me of Wajood Lattafa but Triumph Elixir done that wet wood/forest vibe much much better 9/10

Amazing scent with decent performance. I’m surprised nobody draws the comparison with Guerlain L’Instant Pour Homme EDT/EDP, they’re really close. Of course if I had to pick between the Elixir and Triumph Elixir, I’d pick the Elixir simply because they’re very much similar while the Elixir is better performing. But I have both because Triumph Elixir earned its own spot. Recommended, niche territory.

This is all about the patchouli, your appreciation for this note will be a decisive factor whether you like this fragrance or not. I love it, there is leather and vetiver in here as well. It is strong, heavy and mature. Hugo Boss is not following any trends here, this is a surprisingly bold fragrance in the designer world.

This one I didn't care for at first, but it grew on me insanely. Reminds me of being a kid and visiting my grandpa at his house up "in the mountains." Big lake house and his garage smelled of a mix of hay/grass/gasoline. This reminds me of that Doesn't make sense to like something like that, but it works.

How could a fragrance as good as this get discontinued. It has the strength of the other elixirs but it's surprisingly not stuffy/ cloying in any way making it a versatile cool weather sweet manly patchouli quality scent. Anyways, I always wanted to type this --> I got my bottle, did you get yours yet.

Love this stuff! Being a hardcore patchouli-lover this just hit the sweet spot with me. Having both HB Elixir and this I find this superior to the OG. Both are great releases, but I can easily smell the difference between them, just like the colours of the bottles ;) Glorious stuff Hugo Boss!

I love it! Even though they didn't mention it, I get the smell of leather and oud from it. It will do well with classic clothes or leather or a suede jacket. It smells elegant and bald. Violet adds something mysterious to it. (Of course, it depends on your imagination.)

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is a unisex scent. First flowery, then powdery and sweet, smooth leather. Though I wish those initial notes would last just a tad longer, it’s a very good scent, but in my opinion it is better in colder seasons.

This is the best of the three good releases, Elixir, Absolu, and Triumph Elixir (they're all good), but this one is a standout. Vetiver/Patchouli (chocolaty patchouli) done to perfection surpassing many niche offerings.

My favorite Boss Bottled. A wonderful dark, chocolatey iris and patchouli. I love to wear this on a night out, date or business meetings. Update: 3rd wearing now approaching 16 hours. Still noticeable. Bravo Hugo Boss.

Once the Patchouli has toned down, this scent develops gourmand qualities with an amber vanilla bed and iris notes. This is my autumn-winter go to although I am female. I can‘t detect ozonic or aquatic notes though.

I didn't expect it to be this good. It reminds me of a mix between Fahrenheit Le Parfum, Givenchy Gentleman Parfum, and Halfeti! The quality is noticeable in the perfume's construction and the choice of ingredients!

Dark and woody. Extremely Earthy and very Unisex. Straight up patchouli bomb. Probably my least favorite of the Hugo elixirs. But it smells good. A blast of delicious patchouli with a bright opening. Glad to have it

Very classy, smells expensive. Lasts for 10 hours or so and projects well. The only thing I'm confused about is why Boss decided to advertise it as a football related fragrance, there's nothing sporty about it

My box says patchouli, vetiver, and labdanum.. Violet leaf isn't mentioned. Anyway, this smells awesome and is reminiscent of Elixir but is la little less heavy and focuses on the patchouli.

Really good. Unique. and looks like not many noticed its close similarity to the Cartier masterpiece - Lenvol EDP. Its a very mature scent but polarising. Not for everyone. Do not blind buy.

Unexpected from Hugo Boss — niche-quality for pennies. I’d say it’s better than Absolu or Elixir, and it lasts forever.

Perhaps the best of the Bottled family at the moment. For me it is a strong contender to "Stronger With You Intensely".

Boss Bottled Triumph Elixir is a woody and earthy fragrance. When I saw the advertising for this fragrance with some of top footballers of the moment, I imagined a scent with massive and youthful appeal, but once I tried it I realized that was not the case. Its opening is light and fleetingly fresh, perhaps some citrus or herbal notes, but in less than 5 minutes the fragrance becomes woody and earthy, with a strong presence of patchouli and to a lesser extent, vetiver. The smell is definitely masculine, and in my perception, it will like more for a mature adult, although with this I do not want to prevent young people from trying it. After two hours the smell shows a little sweetness, perhaps some nutty woody vanilla, but it never becomes a sweet fragrance, and remains that way for the rest of its development. I found Triumph Elixir to be a formal style fragrance, to be used in special situations such as graduation parties, weddings, or nights out, because to the strong woody accords it has. For that reason I don't think it is a fragrance for daily use, even so there will be those who find it that way, but it is just my perception. In terms of longevity, it was excellent with a duration of more than 12 hours, the first 3 hours with a noticeable sillage around me. This fragrance has certain similarities with the Bottled Elixir in the use of woody notes, but it is less smoky, ambery and sweet. So if you have already tried Bottled Elixir and liked it, I invite you to try Triumph, which you will probably like too.

So here I was selling this Boss perfume, Elixir whatever something. I quickly tested it after receiving an unopened 100ml in a swap deal, having the hubris to form an educated opinion in 30 minutes and rendering it useless to me. What could I, an aficionado and collector of fine fragrances, get out of this next to my Rojas, FDBs, Clive Christians and whatnot. After struggling to sell this 99,9% full RRP 145€ bottle for 50€ in well-established Finnish second-hand marketplaces and continuously receiving 40€ offers, I decided to pull it away from sale just for the spite of it. To hell with hagglers I say, although I almost always haggle. And to hell with discounters, melting away my dear RRP baseline. Two proper wearings later, I must conclude that this designer Boss perfume here is a success, a triumphant creator of sillage and aura, a very performant elixir that defers moderation to the control of the wearer. Iris, violet leaves, patchouli, vanilla, dark wood notes that beg no further analysis, a performance-boosting amber-wildcard base that is sufficiently integrated and masked to not disturb enjoyment. An accessible bridge-builder to darker and more substantial creations for the adolescent enthusiast, on the shelves just an arm’s length away from watermelon bubblegum. To everyone not bowing to any certain god in the world of perfume: this is worth your time, well over 30 minutes of it. Whether this is worth your money and how much of it is up to you.
