Whoa - this juice is good.. !! Hugo Boss’ Dark Blue is not to be overlooked. For those of you who like the aromatic citrus blends (myself included), you will love Hugo Boss’ Dark Blue. Out of the bottle, you get the cool pleasant blend of aromatic and citrus notes with a background of vetiver – it is in there and I like it.. While geared more for Spring and Summer wear, there is sufficient diversity of notes to allow wear for most occasions and across seasons. Definitely office safe, but refined enough to engage in more formal events. Much to my surprise, performance is above average. Today, I found that Dark Blue lasted comfortably 5-6 hours and even longer on clothing – still going strong at the 8th hour on the cuff of my sleeve. The projection/sillage is average at about arm’s length until settling close to skin level around hour six. In my opinion, the price/value is good for this “best kept secret” for Spring/Summer wear. All said, my final tally for Dark Blue is 4.1 stars out of 5. If you are in search for a little known citrus aromatic fragrance that is underrated, I highly recommend adding Dark Blue to your collection. Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting...

Hugo Boss Dark Blue might be from 1999, but don't let that fool you—this fragrance is anything but dated or ordinary. I just got my bottle today from eBay for $22.24 shipped, and I’m really impressed. What a great deal! This scent is soft, rich, and surprisingly relaxing. It’s classified as an "Oriental Spicy" fragrance, which I completely agree with because it’s a blend of so many different notes. It’s hard to pinpoint any standout, but that’s part of its charm. The citrus notes are softened by warm spices and wood, with just enough vanilla to keep it from venturing into sweet territory. The drydown has a powdery soft spice that’s incredibly sexy and seductive. One of the things I appreciate most is that it doesn’t change much during the drydown—what you smell is what you get, and that’s a good thing. This scent is perfect for a date night and can be worn easily in any season, even though it’s not exactly a beach fragrance. Hugo Boss Dark Blue is versatile and timeless, and for the price, it’s an absolute steal. Solid 9/10 - I love the bottle too.

The "dark" aspect of this cocktail of ingredients is true to its name. The spicy and resinous notes of ginger, cardamom, patchouli, cypress blended together which remind me of Smelling Incense in a Cathedral.... Not a complex scent, simple and linear, and lasts around 2 hrs give or take. This is a multi-purpose fragrance. Works about everywhere, even at a funeral, its inoffensive even if you spray a ton. I first went with this fragrance when kayaking and smelling it with the sea spraying at my face. "A Cathedral by the sea." It was so enjoyable. Definitely a good memory to remember this fragrance. Honestly might be interesting to see how this layers with an ozonic fragrance. Those who say smells like coke i get it but i wonder if these people tried spicy ginger beer. Would be a bit more accurate comparison, not fully tho. However i felt slightly dizzy when i sprayed too much and went in the car so spray in moderation that works for you.

With a citrus opening and spicy mid, the base brings out the fresh warmth that makes Hugo Dark Blue the devilish potion that its meant to be. With an elusive suede note, Hugo Dark Blue can somewhat be an alternative to the master piece that was Donna Karan Fuel. You have to either be a bad boy or the stimulating, captivating, engaging, conversationalist, with mysterious undertones to pull this off. Think of Brandon Lee reciting ''The Sheltering Sky'' in his last interview. If you're into Woody, spicy and fresh scents then perhaps you should give Hugo Dark Blue a try. Silage is moderate and longevity is fair. I get 6-8 hours the most. All year round fragrance. Works beautifully in chilled and relaxed temperatures. I can assure you, ladies love this stuff.

Well look at this little secret. Saw it at Marshall’s and pulled the trigger. Someone below said “if you like plum scents you’ll like this” - a well trained nose! I think he hit it spot on. This is an effervescent plum scent - ignore the notes. If you’ve smelled plum (plum jap, bodicea glorious, dazzle) this will have a familiar profile. Seeing that this was released back in 99, I can confidently say it was well ahead of its time - although I’m Sure it’s just the combination of notes playing tricks, I wouldn’t be surprised if plum were actually the main note in this - and has simply been left out of the breakdown because it would’ve been a lot harder to market a male plum dominant scent back in 99. Regardless - this is a real winner and I’m very sad that I’ve been completely unaware of this for the last 19 years. What a win! 7/10

I absolutely love this scent. Out of the atomizer you're getting a citrusy blast, but one that isn't abrasive at all just super zesty and fresh. Very quickly the rich warm mahogany wood surfaces, providing depth and a fantastic balance to the citrus opening. A wonderful ginger note gradually works its way in, and it creates something very unique and very appealing. The performance is average, not great not terrible. This one has been around a good while, but don't let that keep you from enjoying a very likeable and versatile scent that has way more personality than you might expect.

i doubt this has been 30% more watered down. earlier in 2007-8 it was different more juice could feel than alcohol. now it is more alcoholic. but still i love it. get many compliments n its easy go wear to me esp evenings. i remember first time i tried it ginger blew my mind n asking my self a perfume can be this way? but once it's aroma settles in senses. i don't think you will let it go :) this bottle is always in my shelf n so far this is y 4th bottle which i buy 125ml biggest ever :). its interesting some times we need fragrances for our selves not for even pleasing others.

I really like this, partly out of sentimentality as I had a bottle 20 years ago when I wanted something credible but not too expensive. It's a great value, decent scent - citrus and a little spicy with a slightly sweet, vanilla background and dry down. Not going to surprise people or have super performance but as a pleasant, cheap option to reach for on a 'normal' day it's a winner.

This fragrance become my signature, I use it for over ten years and for me is very unique and I didn't find yet any other fragrances like that. I've twelve more fragrance in my wardrobe like Gucci By Gucci, Armani Code Sport, Very Irrésistible For Men and others but Hugo Dark Blue is the number one.

This has been the first Perfume that I bought. I was a young boy who went in the shop and in the mess of bottles this scent standed out. I Loved it, I weared this fragrance for several years this and now I am back again to it. So mysterious, dark and passionate. I love it! Very masculine.

This has been a favourite of mine almost since its launch and it's my favourite Hugo Boss fragrance of the four that I own. As others have said, this one is below the radar and well worth checking out if you like a woody/citrus combination.

Well. this is an interesting one. I decided to get a bottle of Dark Blue before it tipped over from "discontinued and cheap" to "discontinued and bloody expensive". I paid £25 for a 75 ml bottle and that feels reasonable value for money. The blue bottle (designed to resemble a cocktail shaker) is a lovely colour and an elegant shape but it's let down by the cheap and nasty grey lid which is made of some nasty plastic. And in a way, that seems rather seems symbolic and apt. You see, the notes are lovely - they are why I chose to buy it. Cedar and vetiver with benzoin and vanilla sounds like a perfect combination for a rich and elegant perfume in the base and the heart, with a few citrus notes on top and a splash of ginger. It seems like a recipe for a long-lasting, reasonable projecting perfume. It seems promising. Indeed, Dark Blue does smell lovely, I'm pleased to say. During that first hour you get a little ginger, cypress, the lovely mahogany, cedar, benzoin and the vetiver. You can pick them all out and yet they combine to create an overall green accord. Lovely. I don't get much of the citrus notes but that's okay, I didn't buy it for them, I bought it pretty much for the notes I've just mentioned. So far, so good. I don't normally think of smells as masculine or feminine but this one feels masculine to me. It's nicely understated and I think it feels more suited to evenings and nights than day wear. I also think it feels like summer is not really its time of year. It feels more autumnal and wintery, possibly early spring days where there is that crispness in the morning air. There's surprisingly little projection. It is a skin scent within twenty minutes at the most. That's okay too. I don't believe that a perfume is no good unless it projects like a rocket launcher. I like subtlety and I like having a variety of perfumes in terms of projection as well as variety in different types of smell. So that was okay. But then came the disappointment. The perfume didn't develop so much as vanish. It faded away quickly and was gone within three hours, which is most unusual for me. Normally I find perfumes last much longer on me than they do on most people so I can understand the reviews where people say there's nothing there. I even sprayed a couple of extra sprays on my chest after a couple of hours just to see if it's a perfume which needs a couple of extra sprays for it to stick around for a while. It didn't. It was a grey, rainy day with no sunlight and the temperature was mostly around 18 celsius/65 Fahrenheit so there were no adverse weather conditions either. So what is my final conclusion? Do I regret buying it? Well, I'm disappointed that it didn't live up to my (admittedly high) expectations but I don't regret trying it and I don't regret buying it for the price I paid. It does smell nice after all and sometimes it's good to have a few perfumes which fade after a few hours because you can wear something different the same day without needing a shower to wash it off first. Would I recommend it? If you like the notes and you feel you would be getting your money's worth for what I've described, then yes. If not, no. Will I buy another bottle? That depends. It would require the price to remain under £30 for 75 ml. It would also require me to have no alternatives in the way of oriental spicy that I liked as much or better. I think, therefore, in all honesty, that I probably won't, but it is by no means certain. Edit: gave it away in the end.

Hugo Boss Dark Blue is amazing. The three words I use to describe this is citrusy cola, woody and dark. The open is heavily citrus with a strong . Hugo Boss Dark Blue has a scent that reminds me of a citrusy cola like Coke Orange or Mezzo Mix with the grapefruit and lime mix as well as orange and lemon with ginger to spice it up. The scent is very woody with some mahogany seeping into the open from the mid and the cedar in the base. I feel that it also has a very dark feel to it, very similar to a less minty Cool Water Night Dive, especially in its open. That said, the scents themselves are different, rather it evokes a similar night-time watery feel. This is one of the more interesting scents that I've owned. I honestly only get a handful of notes outside of the top notes. I notice the woods notes pretty noticeably along (as I mentioned before) with some sage and cypress in the mid and a slight vanilla base note, which helps the cola smell that I mentioned earlier. As I mentioned before, the most noticeable notes are in the open. As the scent dries down it gets weaker (despite having base comparisons to Versace Eros) which is a bit of a knock for this scent. The scent lasts for about five hours with an hour and a half or so with strong projection and moderate sillage before almost exclusively being a skin scent for the rest of the three and a half hours. It can be a day scent on colder days but otherwise it is a nice night time scent from fall to spring. My rating for this scent is a bit of a weird one. I really want to rate this a love because it opens amazing to me but it kind of tops out there and goes down hill from there. It also only lasts about five hours so it wont last all night. For this I’ll rate this a 7.8. As I said, I really love the open, it’s pretty unique to my collection but it isn’t backed up to much with the back end. It opens strong like Night Dive but ends like a weakened Eros.

Before talking about Hugo Dark Blue, I must confess: normally, I am not a fan of Hugo Boss perfumes, not because of the fragrances, but because they never last long on my skin. And to my knowledge, this also happens to many people. As much as I understand and defend the theory that lasting is personal and non-transferable, even so, when many people around the world complain about the same things of a certain fragrance, it is a sign that it is a common problem in the composition or in its manufacture. Fortunately, that didn't happen with this one. On the contrary, Hugo Dark Blue exudes and, above all, lasts very well, as well as Boss Intense, the latter being a feminine perfume. Speaking of the fragrance, I feel little of the citrus notes on the output, except for a slight touch of ginger. Regarding the floral and woody heart that contains mahogany, cypress, geranium, and sage, I like very much and is very noticeable. The heart brings more woods and a very light creaminess that makes this perfume a creamy woody, due to its notes of patchouli, vetiver, and cedar, wrapped in benzoin, tobacco, and vanilla. In my opinion, Hugo Dark Blue is a beautiful wildcard, great to be worn in any situation and temperature. It is proof that every rule has its exception!

Hugo Boss Dark Blue: More Than Just a "Blue" Fragrance Despite having "Blue" in its name, I don’t think this belongs in the typical "blue fragrance" category. To me, it leans more towards a "citrusy-yellow" scent profile. Its balanced sweetness makes it a versatile, all-season performer. The Composition & Vibe I don't quite understand the harsh criticisms this one receives. While it might not be the most complex fragrance out there, the blend of lemon, ginger, vanilla, and mahogany is exactly what you get. Timeless Appeal: Even though it was released in 1999, it doesn't feel dated or "old school" at all. It remains remarkably modern. Versatility: This is an "anytime, anywhere" scent. You don't need a special occasion—it works just as well for a night out as it does on a sunny day. Performance Longevity & Sillage: The longevity is moderate, but the sillage (projection) is excellent. It definitely gets noticed, and I can say I’ve received plenty of compliments wearing it. Final Verdict It’s a mystery to me why this is less famous than other Hugo Boss releases. It deserves much more recognition and frequent use. As someone who has already finished an entire bottle, I’m certain our paths will cross again.

Only the 2nd Hugo Boss cologne I have ever bought and again I'm very impressed. I really like this scent and it makes me want to try more from Hugo Boss. You Get a lot of citrus in this one, spice (Ginger, geranium), woody notes (Cedar, Mahogany, Vetiver) vanilla and green notes (Cypress, Sage) and yes I can smell all of those notes in it perfectly. Like i said, im really impressed. you can somewhat smell a chocolate or cocoa smell, its probably the mahogany blending with the vanilla This scent is pretty safe, I would blind buy, its very cheap, great for any age guy. Only downside is it doesn't last that long, but like i always say, you can just apply more and also don't rub it in. Hugo Boss Dark Blue is a fragrance rich in nuance, in the opening with the surprising freshness of citrus fruits: grapefruit on all that ginger seems to dance to a waltz by Strauss.In the middle the wood of mahogany, with geranium and sage blend in a clean heart and generous (perhaps the most sublime) but the bottom is not far behind (wood and resin) give a tone mixed with the classic avant-garde. This I believe is one of the best fragrances I have ever heard, the first spray it is hit by a sweetness that accompanies us for several hours ... I would also add that in my opinion that it is not so inflated as originality is me Platinum Egoiste recalls. to have

I like it. I dont love it. It's sweet, and with the listen notes, I dont see how it really could be as sweet as it is. I was hoping for a ginger, woody, citrus scent and it's darker and deeper than that. the orange is very pronounced in the beginning giving it a sweet/citrus and ginger opening, then it settles into an almost candy-like wood scent that lasts a good while. It is subtle but not strictly a skin scent. It leaves a slightly spicy/musky/woody trail in the drydown that is my favorite part. I would definitely recommend this to be worn at night, in a casual setting for the summer or fall and winter would be ideal for a warm but light scent.

Just bought this on discount from a duty-free. It’s a pleasant, inoffensive citrus/woody blend that could turn out to be a workhorse. People have commented on ginger notes, but that’s not something that I noticed. The vanilla, on the other hand, becomes quite prominent in the drydown, something I didn’t perceive at all when I sprayed the tester. If vanilla is a red flag for you, then don’t blind-buy this one. But for this price, I’m liking it. EDIT: I’ve worn this three times and I’ve had a headache each time. I haven’t decided whether I think this is a coincidence or not.

I love the citrus tones in this fragrance. That’s what you get on the outset. As long as it lingers, it smells very nice. Perfect for the non-winter months. Once it starts to settle down, you get the green notes, with I slight whiff of vanilla every now and again. This fragrance suggests fun spring and summer evenings, hanging out with friends. The huge disappointment is that it does not last at all. O get it for two hours, but after that.... nada... This fact therefore really brings down the rating significantly. Rating: 7/10

Hugo Dark Blue is somewhat of a typical Boss fragrance: pleasant, versatile, work friendly and affordable. But it could also be described as generic and redundant. I happen to like Dark Blue a lot. It works well in cooler seasons, but it could be used in spring and early summer as well. It's dark, a little bit spicy and woody. This fragrance has very good performance on my skin and lasts a full work day with out problem. This is a nostalgic fragrance for me and I will always keep it in my collection.

Hugo Boss Dark Blue comes off as a spicy ginger fragrance, almost like a spicy ginger beer.. I don’t get vanilla here tho. Vanilla doesn’t appear to be present on my skin which is no big deal because I’m not a huge vanilla fan.. This is awesome.. I think this is meant to be worn casual more than dressed up.. This would be great for the office, and casual nights out and parties.. A great value for money I got a 2.5 oz bottle for 26 dollars... Very very nice!! Rating 8.5/10

I had this some years ago, but they stopped selling it entirely where I live. Then I stumbled upon a good offer on eBay and bought it, just to smell it once again. I immediately remembered the smell and the good memories that came along with it. To me, it get's better after about an hour, when the top notes settle down. Longevity and sillage are good, but Hugo Boss never dissapointed me in those areas.

I detect some dried fruit (somewhat Egoiste-like) up top, but then the base notes kick in shortly thereafter. As such, it's mostly linear on my skin, but has superb longevity and tenacity as well as good sillage. And here's my dilemma: Would I save Dark Blue if the house was burning down? No. But each time I wear it, I'm constantly surprised at how much I enjoy it.

I don't get the hate, it's a nice blue citrus freshy. People say it's weak but it's an EDT freshy, I got mine for 13 bucks, over spray all day. I over spray it and it's fairly strong and last a bit that way. And it definitely has that Boss DNA, I can smell this in Extreme and Bottled Night It reminds me of drinking a soda on the beach, I think it's pretty nice

I enjoy this perfume pretty much. Truth to be told, I was looking for a strong sillage manly one for the summer. I also like using citrus-note-based EdT-s, and the two simply met with this one. Orange and in general citrus notes as top ones are pretty solid and my bet on having vetiver among the base ones also turned out to be a right one.

this is my rainy day scent. i just love wearing it on rainy days, the ginger note is what makes it kind of special for me. not too attacking, but decent longevity and average projection. its just really a dark blue fragrance as the name says. must cop if you want something to lighten up your mood a little bit on those boring days.

I can't pik what it is but it reminds me exactly of another scent, it Smells almost identical to something else. I'm thinking something along the lines of Beckham Intimitely. It's starts of fruity spicy then the wood set in, that sounds familiar too. I'm not saying it's a copy, just racking my brains on what it is I relate it too.

For me this fragrance is like a bench player who won’t let you down,you know that he will be there when you need him.A great all around performance that you can wear it day and night feeling that you are wearing a premium scent.I find the dry down really great and you can’t go wrong with this one,safe blind buy.

My father wears this sometimes and used to wear it as a everyday scent at ~35-40 years of age. Everytime I smell this it reminds me of him coming from work wearing dark blue jeans and blazer. Would recommend for men over 30 years of age as a night time scent or as a everyday if you wear casual jeans and blazer

This is a unique fragrance,i had never smelled anything like this fragrance Its good? Yes , cheap? online yes 25€ for 75ml bottle. Very juvenil , coca cola vibe kkk , best for cold days. When i sniff this for the first time , i didnt like too much, but after i use for 1 week i like a lot.

Not bad for the price. I like the vanilla benzoin base playing with the citrus top notes sort of makes it smell like a vanilla coke. Can wear it all year round. Also got it for $18 and for that price its a good deal but probably wouldn't pay more than that.

Versatile dumb reach fresh fragrance. I have worn this countless times to the gym as I enjoy the energy burst of the citrus ginger opening. Otherwise there is not much to say. The price is cheap and it smells pleasant, and sometimes that is all we need.

A nice dark fruity/vanilla fragrance. The name "Dark Blue" is quite apt somehow. Longevity and silage are good. Reminds me, a little, of a mix between Obsession Night and Elements Aqua. I like this one.

I got a 125ml tester 2014 batch, smells like ginger ale without the fizz and a sweet sandalwood like background, It is pretty strong, maybe the newer batches are weaker, It is an ok scent 7/10.

Citrusy and Green typical designer fragrance that dries down into a woody accord, only lasts about 5 hours on my skin with mediocre projection for 1 hour, but it's decent for the price.

For about 25 dollars this fragrance is a steal the combination of woods grapefruit lime and other citruses makes for a very fine and relaxing blend it isn't nearly basic or dated 7/10
