Hugo Extreme

I'm surprised this one hasn't received very much praise or attention since its initial release back in 2016. Mainly due to the fact that this checks all of the boxes when it comes to affordable frags that can be picked up at rack stores. I picked this up at Ross for $25 (75ml) and it is worth every penny. On my skin, I get every bit of 8-10 solid hours of performance. I can easily smell it the whole time and it definitely projects well for thr first two. This is also an edp flanker done right. Unlike most designers, they didn't just use a marketable line name and put together a scent profile that is nothing like the original just to ensure they will sell more bottles (ex. Davidoff's recent Cool Water flankers). This stays about 95% true to the original edt DNA, and provides you with a denser/richer version that performs far better. My only guess why this has not received more fan fare, especially from all of the online reviewers, is that it is geared to a smaller audience who like the mid-90's style fragrance profiles such as this one. Overall, if you're mid-30's and up, you most likely enjoy this nostalgic fragrance style, and if you can pick it up for $30 or less, then it is a worthy addition to your fresh spring/summer daily wear/office safe rotation.

So, I got this based on many people stating, this smells exactly like the original, but longer ( generally ) So, I went ahead and bought this... A bit disappointed but not hating on this, I'll explain: So, as you smell it from the sprayer, it does smell exactly like it hands down. Once you spray it on to yourself, what you notice is, what @Beetus before me stated: "The darker notes intensified" That is what happens here. It is a bit more darker than the original, which can be a hit or miss for the fans of the original. Throughout the day, you will catch it here and there but, it becomes so subtle. For me, I extremely loved the original but, hated that it didn't last long. This one lasts long, but it's not as bright. So it's a double edged sword with this. If you want the longevity but a bit toned down, then this is the one to get. If you love a more brighter version but doesn't last as long, the original is the one to get. So, while I have it and do enjoy it, I do not love it like I loved the original. For time to wear: I'd say Spring (The green apple always gives the spring vibe) or go for summer because, that heat will bring out this fragrance more than if it were to be cool or cold.

Out of my more expensive designers and complex smelling clones I find I often reach for this as a daily and office fragrance as its just quite simply fresh, clean and refreshing. I originally bought Hugo man which pretty much smells 95% the same as this but found it didnt last that long. this one lasts an entire office day just fine and for a hugo fragrance is definitely on the stronger side. Is it worth picking up retail? Probably not unless you're crazy about this type of barber shop smell but at discounters hell yeah. The smell always reminds of barbershop hair products/nice shaving foam kind of smell so if you like that then you will like this. Also I find this one is one of those fragrances that pretty much everyone will like, no one will dislike it, at the very least they will be neutral but my partner really loves this one on me. EDIT: this is such a hard choice because I reckon the EDT hugo boss man smells better but the performance/longevity of this one is so much better Update: if they discontinue this im buying 4-6 bottles of this. Smell 8.8/10 Longevity (For the price) 9/10 Projection (Not a beast but pretty good) 7.4/10 Value (at discounters) 8.2/10

Complete blind buy I actually saw this one on one of the websites here in UK and thought: wow I didn't know there was a extreme EDP version of this HUGO fragrance I want it. I've ordered it through e-bay £25 for 75ml. Lovely little bottle that reminds me of easter egg somehow. First time I sprayed it the opening wasn't mind blowing to be honest. I thought : well at least it will be long lasting. But after 10-15minutes I realised it is getting nicer and nicer. When I smelled it after 20 minutes I realised that I am really digging it. Within three days it grew to be one of my everyday dumb reach favourites. It is fresh with the top apple note and has this almost shampoo like smell to me but it stays masculine throughout. It is definitely spicy as well I was delighted when I did 7-8 sprays and went outside Scent bubble was great. It is indeed very long lasting and I personally love it from presentation to the actual fragrance. 8.5/10 and a total banger. I will wear it a lot !!! Great everyday fragrance

Nose Note #1079 I loved the Hugo Man 2021 (I'll have to imagine it's super similar to the 1995 version, judging by the scent itself). The way it's so like the 90s, the way the fir accord made it smell somewhat cheap and cartoonishly masculine, the generalized image of the 70-80s "shaving foam" clean perfumes, but reimagined in 90s style. Amazing. I feel like the pitch for this perfume was exceeded and something great as a standalone piece was created. And here comes Hugo Extreme in 2016. Did it add much? No. I feel like this was a bridge between 1995 and the 2021 recreation. Is it unneccesary if you have Hugo Man? Basically yes. I've run out of the 2021 version and just from memory - the two are basically the same, but I feel like the fir accord was more interesting and more "fir" in 2021. I can't really say anything about the performance. Extreme and 2021 versions feel similarly moderate in performance to me. I can't call Hugo Extreme long lasting. 8.5/10, I love it, but it can get boring

I love this stuff! Extreme (which lives up to its name with tremendous longevity) starts off with crisp tart green apple and evergreen woods giving it a fresh herbal accord. It dries down to a very woody scent with a coniferous cedar tone. It's not a heavy wood, but more of a slightly sharp fresh herbaceous one. It's very masculine and classic smelling but not in a dated way. I have this Extreme version (2016) and the newer Hugo Man (2021), and they're similar enough that having both would be redundant. There are some slight differences: Hugo Man has a slightly more mossy opening, where the Extreme leans a little harder on the green apple tang. But they dry down to smell nearly identical, so I'd go with whichever is cheaper. The Extreme lasts a little longer but both perform very very well. This is a versatile all-season all-occasion scent that's unique and affordable, and I'm glad Boss is keeping this DNA going. It will always have a spot in my collection.

Super safe and versatile dumb-grab fragrance. It remains very faithful to the original while coming across as denser and more modern: green apple is the main player here, with woodsy and green notes supporting it. It's your typical "shower gel" sort of scent. In my experience, Boss isn't a house that you need to own more than 2-3 fragrances from (especially from this "Hugo" line) because most of its releases seem to follow the same avenue of being safe and mass-appealing. I don't think Hugo Extreme is much different than the others in the line in this regard, so I won't be getting any more of them, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the fragrance. It's perfect for just lounging around, which is exactly what I was expecting and looking for. Definitely blind-buy safe. As with most Hugo fragrances, this wouldn't be out of place in a high schooler's locker. It will keep you smelling good for at least 6 hours.

$26 Ross pickup and have zero regrets. I have the newer bottle style but the juice is on point. So I was going to get the OG again at some point because it's one of the best warmer weather dumb reach fragrances in history but still has a uniqueness to it while being casual as well as office appropriate. I like the extreme version quite well! Of course it's a touch synthetic and has a familiar profile, a smidgen dated or throwback vibe, but that's exactly what I wanted! May be a tad generic but I bet you'll smell different than everyone around you and a good fragrance for $26 is phenomenal given today's standards in perfumery travesty. Boss usually does things well at a good price point and this is a great one IMHO...for 30+ gentlemen and an easy dumb reach frag. Reminds me of the 90s in a good way! 9/10 all day!

This is very nice in the opening and just gets better toward the dry down.. I have never smelled the original so I can’t tell you if this is close or not.. What it is close to is Lacoste Style in Play just much more mature and potent.. I had style and play back in the day and it turned into something I disliked.. I dunno if the juice went bad on me or what.. Anyways this is a very masculine and mature scent.. In my opinion it’s a dad cologne..The fir sage and lavender combo come off a bit heavy toward the dry down but in a very pleasant way.. I think this would classify as a fantastic Father’s Day gift.. This could be had for about $30 to $40 dollars for 100ml.. Which in my opinion is a great value.. Versatility is also very good... Glad to have this in my collection.. Rating 8.7/10

Still one of my favourite 5. Still ordering, and keep coming back. I like OG version, and this is really, like some comments that mentioned it here, something like OG on stereoids. Have one interesting story with it, some years ago, I just ordered it, back then the bottle design was still like "army bottle" with cap. It came with little broken glass under the neck. So some ml were spilled to box. Owww guys, I just get this box to our warehouse in work, and believe or not. We felt it there for over a week. Some people say the new Hugo Man with with big bold lettering is slightly different than the OG Hugo Man (EdT, not this EdP), so I will try also this slightly different version. For me, this is just one from three colognes here, which I marked like "Long lasting", yes it is. 9,5/10

Oh gawd!... This brings back some good memories of my last couple of years of highschool :D I owned the original Hugo back then, my second fragrance after 212 Men (NYC) I was bought it for my birthday and instantly loved it and so did the girls! I bought this just to reminisce and it was well worth every penny of the 27 quid I payed for 75ml, I still think this DNA smells great to be honest, Hugo Man Extreme Smells a bit more dense than the original 'Hugo' from memory but that is maybe because this Extreme flanker is an EdP and 'Hugo' was an EdT Time to make some new memories with this maybe Overall it has dated well and would make a great signature for any guy any age.

I bought it mostly for the nostalgia because I used to rock the old Hugo Boss fragrance back in the 90s, so when I came upon this one for $25, I blind bought it on the spot! It's not quite the same as the one I used to wear, which i knew it obviously wouldn't be since this one was released 30 years later, but it's close enough to bring a smile to my face! It's still fresh and clean. The original was like the YSL Y for its time, and this one is really no different. It's perfect for a summertime casual, easy grab, gym or errands scent. I probably overrated it because of the nostalgia, but it's a solid 4 out of 5 for me. Nice scent, decent longevity, decent performance.

What a banger! Opens with that fantastic green apple. Quickly develops into an aromatic with the mid notes of geranium and sage. Dries down to a woody conifer scent, but still maintains that excellent freshness. Way to go, Hugo Boss! I normally gripe about Boss's fragrances having poor performance, even if they smell great. But, Hugo Extreme has all its ducks in a row. A really good smelling, long lasting, Spring & Summer parfum from Boss. The juice is light blue, but the aroma is green. For the price at which you're able to pick this us from various rack stores (TJ Maxx, Burlington, Marshalls, et al), it's a safe bet for most. Blind buy worthy.

My Swiss army knife. You can use this in almost any weather and almost any occasion. Keep in mind the hotter the better (weatherwise). In colder days it gets a bit bitter, it's full freshness shines in the hotter days. So you can wear it any season except winter. Performancewise it is great. I have a skin that burns fragrances pretty quickly and this one stays for long and also projects for a decent amount of time like 2 hours which (for me) is pretty damn good. It does smell almost exactly like the original and I don't know if it performs better (simply because I've no experience with the original one).

Wow! One of my best blind buys ever. I didn't have any expectations but this is an excellent "Swiss army knife" kind of fragrance. All seasons, all occasions kind of scent. I simply love the smell of Man Extreme. It smells clean but also has some depth because of the balsam fir note. This scent's simplicity is what makes it shine. It doesn't try to be overly complicated or hyper unique. It simply gets the job of smelling clean and fresh done in a great way. Personally I'm not a big fan of acquatic freshies but this green and fresh scent by Hugo Boss is right up my alley.

Opens with Balsam fir and subtle apple. Geranium becomes evident in the dry down after about 2 hours but it's not overbearing. Would be better without the geranium (i.e. old lady perfume). However, overall love it. Fresh, clean, decent performance on sillage and longevity. Wife loves it. This is one of the few examples of a pine type of scent which is done properly and does not smell like a cleaning agent. In comparison, New West is too heavy on pine and adds too much musk. Hugo Extreme is well balanced. It is masculine and mature.

It's a very nice fresh scent with fruity overtones, if that's what you're into. Initial blast is extremely overpowering. Go very modest with the sprays. I keep trying fresh and green scents like this one when they're well reviewed but I just never love them. They're just not for me, but I didn't hate this. It's good for what it is. It was a sample and I'll wear it once in a while and finish it. There is some spice in it, too, but not nearly enough for my liking. Very good projection and sillage, I'd say.

I blind bought this at Burlington, i’m an older gentleman and this reminds me of the good old 90s. It’s a real gentleman‘s cologne, not for the young or the sissies. It has long lasting strength and a decent scent trail. I would say if you’re over 40 you could definitely blind by this and love it. The younger guys may not agree with this scent. It really is not too sweet. And it has that forest pine vibe. This is a love for me and my son who is 44. Also loves this cologne as well.

for those who loved and rocked multiple bottles in the past like me, this is a step up.yes they give 100ml rather than 125 but the performance on this one is solid, much better than the original so you need only few sprays. 7 to 8 hours easy to cover your day's work. it was my dad's signature scent, so was mine. simple fresh green herbal floral apple scent, no one will ever be offended. classic Boss style cologne. all year round you can wear this 9/10 for the memories and value

I was given a OG Hugo Man around 2005 and really enjoyed it. About a year ago I was given a newer Hugo Man and thought it was too apple forward and synthetic. I saw this for $25 at Ross and said heck why not. This is probably one of my best blind buys ever. It smells very similar to the OG to me but on steroids. Longevity is better than most my other fragrances. I don't think you can do any better when quality meets affordability. 7.2/10

This is a sleeper for sure. I get insane performance with this. I tried the EDT from my brother and got the EDP for £17! The notes looked similar enough and the dry down is pretty much identical. The opening on this is still that cold day in the forest around the pine trees fresh but denser as if there’s fog or maybe it’s a bit humid out there. May come over as harsh if oversprayed, but it doesn’t need it tbh.

Shower gel for men with fresh, juicy green apple and some aromatical herbs. True out of the shower feelings. Very modern and versatile. I recommend it especially for young guys. If you like non-complicated sexy, fresh, Old Spice type of fragrance this is for you. Safe blind buy. Better than original - not so sour. NEW Edit: 12/10 This is the best fresh fragrance for men. Cheap and long lasting. Chick magnet.

A nicely blended elixir. Fruity, woody and fresh. A bit of a synthetic vibe but it's good stuff. A very nice dry down and a good performance. The silage is particularly nice here. Hugo Extreme is a lovely male perfume with a nice character and an unusual silage. Oh, lovely bottle with a pull off cap not a screw here. *update* This is so distinctive - it's a big love from me. getting more of this gem.

I honestly think this fragrance is the best Hugo Boss scent. Better than any of the flankers and better than any of the other offerings. It’s exactly like the original EDT, with greater performance, at the cost of being a little less fresh at the outset. It’s a really good daily wear scent with a lovely apple note on application that dries down to a fresh green woods and lavender fragrance. 7/10

2000: My first fragrance, original Hugo Man 2021: the same freshness but named Extreme, 100% same quality to my nose. It's winter now here and I get a really invigorating and energetic vibes✅ I could get it for 30 euro for 100ml (36 USD) This is not sweet, but spicy fresh Imho. spray as much as you want, no cloying problems😎

This has been repackaged to separate it from Hugo Man (2021; the one with the oversized text on the bottle). It is now in a bottle similar to that of Hugo Dark Blue (1999), despite having much more in common with the original Hugo (1995). I am not sure if there is any difference in smell but I am guessing not.

it smells really good. have a woody and flowery sweetness vibe as jimmy choo man EDT or coach man but for summer version. it's really cool fresh and sweet fragrance. perfect for casual looking day when you workout or jog. could be little bit of head tunrer. very male focused on fragrance.

One of my top 5 favourite fragrances. I would categorise this fragrance as sweet and aromatic. Longevity is really amazing. I'm so lucky to get 9hours+ longevity from this. If I spray it on my jacket, then I can still detect the smell until the next time. 💚 Rating:8.5/10

What a fantastic Spring / Summer value! Excellent, slightly sweet, aromatic-balsamic fragrance! Above average performance, especially for a scent with this level of freshness. Can be found for next to nothing at rack stores.

A great parfum. A lovely juicy, fruity fragrance with a touch of wood. Lasts ages and projects well. I have the "cocktail shaker" bottle which is neat. The whole package and the price is just superb.

Wore the original constantly back when I was young and this ones right in line with that, maybe a bit stronger. It's a great fragrance and I only paid 13 at ROSS so a no brainer for me

I am not sure what it is, but with Hugo Boss Hugo Extreme I get a lot of Hugo by Hugo Boss from it. Now yes, this is largely a stripped down Hugo (similar to what Hugo Man is as well) but you get some better performance, at least better than modern Hugo formulations and even Hugo Man. It also surprisingly smells similar to Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce for some reason. Hugo Extreme opens with a blast of green apple. As the apple dies down, you get a lot of the fir note in the base along with some lavender and sage. The base is the fir and the cedar note. I honestly do not notice the geranium. Hugo Extreme I really am not sure what use is good for it. It is a little too strong for dates and can be a little too dense for work. However, it doesn't really have the notes nor the performance to really be a club scent. Maybe it works in a bar, but know that because Hugo is a common cloned fragrance (Belcam's Nitro) it can be familiar if you are picking someone up. It can work casually, that is for sure. Hugo Extreme is versatile season wise. It can work from spring all the way to fall and can also work in Arizona winters. It is a day scent for the most part. It also performs for about 7 hours with about an hour and a half to two of strong projection. I happen to like Hugo Extreme. Should it be more usable, I could see myself buying a second bottle of it. That said, I find it is limiting. I can wear it to work, but I feel that is a stretch. I feel this is an overlooked fragrance, but a good fragrance at that. For this reason, I think a 7.5 is the best rating for this fragrance out of 10. I am not fully blown away by Hugo Extreme, but it is a rather good smelling scent regardless. I just wish the performance balance was better so you can wear it in more situations.

Scent: 7.5/10 - The perfect versatile daytime scent, in my opinion. Equally suited for both leisure/casual activities and office/suit&tie daytime responsibilities. It's just like the OG from 1995 except with a pungent synthetic opening that almost reminds me of Invictus. Thankfully that dies down in 2-5 minutes and you're left with that crisp green apple opening that hangs around longer than top notes typically would. I can pick out each note easily except maybe the geranium, and it's a really nice marriage that reminds me of a crisp, refreshing Fall or Spring day. Longevity: 7.5/10 - Pretty good for an EDP, but nothing spectacular. Slightly above average for something with this scent profile. Projection: 7/10 - Pretty easy to get whiffs of this when you move around, but haven't had anyone around me comment on it since I've had it. Uniqueness: 7/10 - Unmistakably "Boss", but nothing terribly unique. Really nice change from the typical citrus-heavy freshies, however. Versatility: 8/10 - Perfect for Spring and Fall days, decent for summer days, not the best for winter days, and wrong scent profile for night time. Mass Appeal: 9/10 - Totally clean, crisp, inoffensive scent that everyone could like. Might not be anyone's favorite, but it's really easy to like. Overall: 7.7/10 - Really nice pickup. Performs better than the OG, but retains almost the exact same scent. Solid freshie for those wanting something aromatic as opposed to citrusy/fruity/sweet and with decent performance.

If you are reading this review debating if you should get hugo boss extreme let me tell you right now this is a really good strong fragrance, I usually like fresh spicy and have smelled a decent amount of fresh spicy colognes, this cologne is the spiciest and i mean that in a really good way. It’s very herbal, I don’t get much of the fruitiness so if you’re expecting to smell like sweet apple, consider a different fragrance. This is very musky and very manly, the projection is ok but it does last super long and seems to last even longer on my clothes. I wouldn’t buy this at full price, in fact I bought it from a discount store so if you’re lucky enough to find it at a discount store, go for it! Got mine from marshalls for 30 bucks, personally wouldn’t pay more than that bc I feel like there are better colognes out there you could buy for more than 30 bucks. (Also yes the newer versions of this fragrance are in what looks to be a cocktail shaker bottle) 6.7/10

This is a very masculine scent. A little sour tart green apple on top. It’s mostly a very green and an airy herbaceous scent. Freshly cut lavender and sage and a lot of fresh pine. The cedar in the base is like a dry cedar. Which def supports those other notes. It’s very aromatic but in a fresh and clean, old school type of way. This is definitely a fall, winter (maybe early spring if its cold outside and there’s snow of the ground lol) daytime scent. The pine fir scent is just too much to wear for the summer or as date night frag. The projection and longevity are above average so you can def rock this to the office, in-season. Also this would be a great outdoor frag for seasonal activities in colder weather. I feel like you have to have some type of flannel pattern shirt when wearing this one lol. This frag fits a purpose especially if you are looking for manly pine scent. I like it but don't love it.

Saw it today in the local Douglas perfumestore. Tested 1 spray on my wrist a gentle mist. It doesn't realy shout, it's a gentle sillage. Maybe it was too less that i have put on. But i experienced it with more EDP's that it doesn't is as loud as the EDT version does project. Well it's not a problem if you don't need it to shout as long as the longevity is better. What i get out of this Hugo Extreme, is the same scent as the EDT. So, i think like D&G also did with the one, for that one it was good because it's an amazing scent, but didnt last. I still have the EDT of Hugo. Well that one had not had these problems. So i would have rather seen a bit twists in the formula. So for the ones who have edt, you do not need this. If you dont, just test them both, maybe you experience it different, and see what is best for you. Scent 4/5 Sillage 2/5 Longevity 4/5

Hugo Man Extreme is appropriately named. In my opinion, it's a perfect replacement for the original Hugo. It's deeper, richer, and well...yes, more extreme. I bought the original Hugo on my honeymoon over 20 years ago and I've worn it ever since. This new version updates the fragrances in all the right places for me. It feels more robust and a little less shower-gelish if that makes sense. It also seems less linear to me. The crisp apple is more prominent at the top, but it settles softly into a warmer, slightly resinous woody base which is offset nicely but the sage and lavender. Longevity and sillage are off the charts compared to its predecessor. Safe blind buy too. Classy and clean with a depth and confidence you don't always find with a designer fragrance. In short, it's beautiful stuff and can be had for a steal online. Go get it!

Green scent with blue-coloured juice. I bought the original Hugo when I started my Hugo Boss collection. That one smelt nice - green, fresh, aromatic, spicy and a bit fruity but performed poorly like most Hugo Boss fragrances. Hugo Extreme lives up to its name. It's not quite as fresh as the original (base notes and the sage are more dominant in my bottle) but the longevity is nothing short of exceptional. I've still got a little scent bubble around me 5hrs later. Highly recommended if you liked the DNA of the original with the added bonus of improved performance. Good in the cold or in the heat. If Hugo Boss made all their fragrances this strong, their reputation as a fragrance house would skyrocket overnight.

I had just started my fragrance collection when I picked this up for around 25€. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but at that price, it felt worth trying. Overall, the fragrance is decent, though not particularly remarkable. The opening is fresh and pleasant, with a noticeable green apple note in the opening that stands out nicely. As it dries down, it develops a slightly metallic accord, which I don’t personally enjoy. Fortunately, this metallic note fades after about an hour, revealing a smooth woody and green character that is much more appealing. The projection is moderate at best, but the longevity is quite solid, especially for a Hugo fragrance.

Like the original, I haven't owned the original for about 10 years, but I stumbled upon the reviews here that post formulation this extreme variant is the closest to the original, and after buying I have to agree, to me it smells the same with almost the same longevity. Good smelling masculine peppery fragrance , maybe just a tad bit more spicy but otherwise practically identical to what I remember at least . As a side note, I tried all the other hugo boss and boss frangrances and find them all terribly generic and boring. Glad to find this and glad it hasn't been messed with . To clarify my bottle is the new redesign made in Spain .

Was given a free sample of this today.It is a great smelling casual scent that could be worn in Spring,Summer and maybe in early Autumn. Very fresh spicy, I got a Dior Sauvage vibe(I really like Sauvage as well),not really that much similar in smell but the feeling they give in general,though this one is more fresh and less spicy and totally greener with a slight hint of sweetness. After a shower and a shaving this would be excellent, it is sexy as well. Although it smells great I think I have smelled it before.. Haven't tested on skin to judge longevity/sillage

I had to get used to this fragrance. This scent is all about the apple. Yes there are other notes, but this is a fresh-sour apple fragrance. Think Granny Smith apple. Don ́t worry, it ́s light on the sour side. This is a good scent for spring and more so summer, and for those who want to carry something fresh and different to the office or any other place where you want to arrive fresh and clean.
