Hugo Reversed

For me, this Hugo reversed is an amalgamation of several different fragrances I've smelled in the past. I get it's resemblance to elysium, but only slightly in the grapefruit opening. I also get the comparison to sauvage, but even less so in the mid where the fuzzy ambroxan feel begins to show itself. I've tested this fragrance on my skin next to several different fragrances, and I get a cross between jimmy choo man ice/Dior homme cologne and chanel allure homme sport. It opens very bright and citrusy, but then very quickly dries down to a smooth creamy drydown of AHS. Elysium retains it's sharp citrus/woody composition throughout it's life,as does man ice, whereas this almost immediately transitions to a more creamy, almost vanillic heart which stays throughout it's life. I do really enjoy it since I love all of the fragrances mentioned above for different reasons. Creamy orange is how I would describe this fragrance very simply. I would not say that it's anything groundbreaking, but it is an extremely pleasant and easy to wear fragrance that can be enjoyed by many different people and their tastes. It does lean masculine on account of the vetiver, and performs quite well for a so-called "cheapie". Scent: 8/10 Projection: 8/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 6/10 Value: 9/10 Overall, Hugo reversed is a very pleasant, dumb-reach type of fragrance that easily suits as a signature scent if so inclined. Edit: I must admit after wearing this for several months it clicked and got a strong similarity to Mancera cedrat boise. Sprayed them side by side and the resemblance is quite uncanny. To the point that I wonder why more people haven't made the connection. While reversed does dry down and retain alot of it's citrus notes, cedrat goes much deeper into the woody category. I think, if you are a fan of cedrat you'll love the fresher take and cheaper price tag. Vice versa, if you enjoy reversed you may really enjoy the deeper, woodier version in cedrat.

Amazing. Truly is. In its simplicity. This is a new summer king. It goes in the vein of adg essenza, and it is a great replace for frags like D&G Living Stromboli and L'homme Libre. It starts fresh and very bright but easy going. Think of a laid back weekend on a beach under the palm tree while you look at the sky over the sea. It smells... white and clean. Like cotton. Or better yet... smells like white clouds over the sea. Very ozonic and very aromatic. Starts off with citus but it is not a piercing citrus which is subdued with a very gentle vetiver which gives the whole frag that semi sweet touch. Like woody sandalwood kinda sweet. A gentle natural sweetness. Kinda hard to describe... you know that sweet smell of the air after the rain? That kinda sweet. Rosemary gives it a spicy backbone and it resembles a more gentle and subtle adg profumo in the drydown. Frag is very airy and aromatic and summery. Only for the blazing summer days and humid hot summer nights. Citrusy but not too much. Sweet but gentle and not too much. Spicy but again... very soft and jot too much. Has everything but nothing too much that will pop out and annoy you. It really is a king in its simplicity. Is extremely airy and lasts easily 7 hours, projects for 3 without a problem. But it is not in your face. It is exactly how ppl love it. When you move, it moves with you. The first day I tried this... I got a compliment from a female friend. She said... mmmm what a lovely frag. I said... you can smell it? I thought it was gone. She said ooo yes I can. It is so subtle and freaking amazing and every time you move it just hits me. Yet it is there. Then my gf asked me... wow what is that? Smells really nice. Then when I applied at the store some guys walked by with their girls and asked... which one did I put on cuz it smells darn great.

Doing a re-review of this one after having owned if for some time, and I must say Reversed is sneaky good. When I first got it, I thought it to be a pleasant enough freshie but the more I wear it, the more I love it. If there were any complaint, it might be that this is a fairly linear fragrance. But I don't tend to mind linearity much when it comes to fresh summertime scents like this one where that lasting fresh clean accord is what I want anyway. This is a really handsome and almost elegant aromatic scent that opens with a grapefruit-centric zest that settles into a clean, crisp uplifting citrusy woody accord. It's not overly sweet but leans more aromatic thanks to the gentle rosemary and ever so slightly earthy vetiver. I'm not saying this smells like Terre d'Hermes (which I also own) or aims to smell like it, but it fits into that general category of scent while having its own unique personality. It's a fantastic warm weather fragrance that serves me well in the hot humid deep US South where I live. The performance is actually pretty darn good for this kind of fresh scent. I have to go a bit heavier on the sprays (say 8-10 instead of my normal 4-6), but if I do I can still smell it 8 hours in. I picked up the 2.5 oz shaker-styled bottle for about $30 and the bang for your buck is excellent. This is one of those that I like better with each wearing and it very much outperforms it's price point.

This smells great, it's simple, clean and bright without being too lemony. Yes it is a very citrus forward fragrance , but it's not sour on the nose or gives the bathroom cleaner sharp lemon scent. As mentioned on here the notes are very true to the fragrance. You get the citrus burst then the herbal mellowing of the rosemary then the vetiver brings it all together in the end. At one point to me it does get a little herbal lemonade thing going on. I like it a lot. It's a simple fragrance that is made with solid ingredients. I don't really find this to be that synthetic. Where this does lack is in the performance department. But with EDT's especially citrus fresh ones with no strong base notes it's just expected. It is strong and bright for about 30 minutes. It is a strong skin scent for another hour. After that it's really close to the skin. You would need to reapply at about the 3 hour mark. Even on clothes it's pretty faint at about 3 hours. Normal wear 5 sprays is ok. 2 or 3 when reapplying. That has been perfect for work. I over sprayed to test it out a few times at home. No matter what after about 45 min to an hour this is just not a room filler. But it sits nice close to the skin. Anyone near you will smell it but more than 3 feet not really, which I really liked. I'm going to have to give this a very solid 7.5/10.

This perfume smells very, very, VERY SIMILAR to Davidoff's CHAMPION. The one with a dumbell's shape Bottle. In my personal and humble opinion is a safe Blind Buy 'cause is not expensive. Is very Fresh and Clean. I consider it a super Pleaseant option for everyday use at work if your work in crowded spaces or Offices. I think EVERYBODY will be pleased with the smell. Sadly it doesnt project a lot and it doesnt lasts long either. Nevertheless it is a inexpenssive fragrance ($24 USD for 2.5 ounces) so overspraying is harmless to both: people around and your pocket. I consider ir a perfect perfume for GYM also. It opens citrusy .... grapefruit is very prominent and the Haitian Vetiver at the drydown lets it rest comfortably. I have this perfume in the list of my: "I cant chose what to wear to day so pick RANDOMLY any of these". It does reminds me of Elysium also. P.S. as usual ... I cant believe all these reviews ranting about the "synthetic vibes" and "cleaning product vibes" in a Cheap fragrance .... Geez ! Get into Niche perfumery if you want Quality ingredients and even thou! Newsflash! It isnt guaranteed either.

This one is highly underrated. Opens with a sparkling citrus and grapefruit blast and then goes into a creamy stage which is delightful if not somewhat inexplicable. The mid note is listed as Rosemary and it’s definitely there, but there is something else going on too. Whatever it is, smells damned good on my skin. Once it dries down, you get the Vetiver, but not too strong and it has some sort of herbal freshness that is perfect in the heat. As you warm up, it rises to the occasion. Speaking of heat, this should absolutely be worn in temps of 75 degrees and upwards in the daytime as it resonates well off your skin and isn’t cloying. I find it addictive. It’s perfect for casual wear in any scenario ...seems like Boss hit the mark with this one as a summer freshie. It can be found at places like TJ Maxx in a 4.2 ounce size for $35...a complete steal! I’ll be buying a backup. BTW...orthostice was right, layer it with “Starwalker” ....boom! Scent 8.5 Performance 8 Sillage 8 Longevity 7 Value 8

Oh yeah, I just tried Elysium for the first time, and I can definitely see the resemblance that Hugo Reversed has straight away. It may not be quite as effervescent or use the same high quality ingredients, but it comes damn close, really damn close! It’s actually amusing how something so inexpensive with such a simple note breakdown is so similar to something far more expensive and allegedly complex. If you want that Elysium kind of vibe for a fraction of the cost you simply cannot go wrong with this juice for the price. Great release and it deserves the hype it gets. Just remember to overspray this including on your clothes for any kind of staying power. I sprayed this on heavy at 8am and received a compliment at 3pm, so it does last. Even on its own this is a really nice scent and one of the best in the Hugo canteen line. Blind buy safe for anyone that likes fresh and clean scents!

A superb, inexpensive, refreshing fragrance! The citrus opening really brings a smile to my face. It smells like you just had a pleasant and refreshing shower after a long day. Hugo Reversed is perfect for casual wear. Best for daytime use during spring and summer (and maybe the early weeks of autumn as well). The longevity is descent, lasting about 6 hours. The sillage is mild and decreases over time, but it does make for a comforting skin scent. It’s funny how many people dislike Hugo Reversed for it being a simple fragrance. I actually love it because it's simple. Of course it’s better to wear richer and stronger fragrances like Spicebomb, Le Male Elixir, Fahrenheit, Man In Black, etc., but there does come a point where I feel a bit bored and tired of wearing those constantly. Sometimes I just like to keep things simple, and Hugo Reversed is a great fragrance for that.

Super nice grapefruit/vetiver DNA. Think of a slightly softer snd more playful take on Bvlgari Tygar. Opens up with a sweeter grapefruit note with vetiver peaking around the corner. As it dries, the sweetness fades and vetiver comes more prominent bring you to the superb classic grapefruit/vetiver combo. This puts you right in the same arena as Bvlgari’s Tygar...just a pinch softer. There’s a touch of soapiness to add some depth/complexity. Could be worn year round...great for spring/summer. Certainly is masculine. Longevity and projection are slightly above average. Super versatile for almost every occasion. Value is off the charts great unless the price begins to climb. I bought mine off of Fragrancebuyca. If you enjoy the combo of grapefruit/vetiver...do not hesitate to sample this. It is superb for the price.

On my skin, this lasts at least 12 hours with very little change in scent profile, and it projects decently. I guess it should be noted that I tend to be generous with the sprays. I smell tropical, sweet-citrusy fruits. However, to me and my still fairly untrained nose, it's like a potpourri of indistinguishable fruits. When the scent finally starts to fade, I don't notice a change in the scent apart from it slowly getting weaker. So to me, it's very linear, which is not a bad thing. Almost all fresh scents I've tried so far become something else, less fresh, after some hours (time varies depending on the fragrance), but this one remains fresh-ish all the way through on my skin. I can only recommend this for a summer fragrance as well as late spring and early autumn.

Hugo reversed reminds me of two fragrances: jimmy choo man Ice and elysium - with a closer resemblance to choo ice. Obviously this is a citrus first scent - but the green in the background is where I’m finding similarities with elysium. Unlike the reviewer below, I wouldn’t classify this as milky whatsoever. It is sharp, fresh and uplifting - with a deep green base. I agree that there are similar scents out there - but I have to say, I like this much more than elysium or choo. This is an easy every day grab - and while it shares similar citrus notes to other fragrances, I think it holds its own and does offer some unique qualities. I love it. I see no flaws with it - and I would regard this as one of the best summer fragrances I’ve smelled.

Hugo Reversed is a citrus, fresh and marine fragrance. The opening is fresh and citrusy, slightly herbal and bitter. This phase is very nice. Over time the smell shows some marine and salty elements, probably due to the musk. Once in its drying phase, the smell remains citric with a woody facet. This fragrance is oriented for daytime use, in spring or summer, for that refreshing effect it has, for casual outings, to the movies, etc. Its performance is not the best, it lasted me 6 hours. It's not too bad either, with a good sillage for the first hour and then going down close to the skin. If you can find it at a good price, it is a good fragrance for daily use, because it smells very nice. It reminds me a little of Ligth Blue Eau Intense

This is a totally likeable citrus-centric fresh scent. It's very lively on top thanks to the grapefruit, with just enough sweetness. It settles pretty quickly to a more aromatic scent with a gentle woodsy base. It retains some of that fruity tang for a while, about as long as you can hope with what is almost inevitably a shorter lived note like citrus. The overall longevity is average, but it's hard to complain given the modest price point. If you're looking for a very fresh versatile crowd pleasing kind of scent that you can wear anywhere, you could do a lot worse than this one. As a resident of the US south where summers are very hot, this one will serve me will when in the coming months.

I was looking for a new fragrance for the Summer/holiday season. Something fresh, easy-going and suitable for every occasion. I came across Hugo Reversed and wow, this is a fresh scent! The opening is a straight blast to the face with the bergamot. After a while it settles down and you smell more of the grapefruit and especially the vetiver. The vetiver gives it a slight hint of Versace Eros, be it a more relaxed version of it. If you're looking for a great summer fragrance that's a people pleaser and lasts long during hot summer days, this is definitely worth your consideration. I paid 36 euro for a 75ml bottle. At that price it's an absolute no-brainer.

Reminds me of being in an open-sky terrace at a nice Italian restaurant because the potency of the rosemary is pretty straight-forward from the beginning, as if a grown bush was nearby emitting its beautiful natural oils after a full day under the sun. Somewhat "lemony" too. Very sharp and simple, unmatched in masculinity. However, two negative traits are undeniable: it does not project that much (say five feet or less), and in about two hours the whole charm comes to an abrupt end. Totally disappears. Have a refillable atomizer to make Reversed by Hugo Boss really work. Excellent for a relaxed daylight outdoor get-together from April to September.

This was one of the best buy for me without smelling the perfume before buying it. I don't get people who don't like this. I know they reading a lot of hype comments and then they will find out it is a simple fragrance. But it is great because it is simple and linear. There are days when I just want to smell good, nothing extraordinary . This is perfect for that. I also don't get who says this is synthetic. I think it is on the more natural side. Club de nuit is synthetic, this is not ... I also think the price is good, it is not overpriced at all. Sillage and performance is perfect for hot environment, not cloying at all. 10/10

Love this one. Very citrusy and fresh, slightly sweet too but not at all obnoxious. No, it’s not very complex but smells wonderful for summer and maybe spring. Woodier drydown and transitions into a pretty masculine scent. Performance is weaker than I’d like, but it project decently. My girlfriend bought this one for me and loves it, I think it’s so inoffensive it is a big crowd pleaser and as safe a blind buy as it gets if you need a cool fresh scent. It exceeds being good “for a cheapie.” If you have a warm winter cologne this one is the opposite, very much beach day like. 8.5/10 go buy this.

A very solid fragrance for the price. I wouldn’t pay $50 for this but $20-30 for a 75ml is a great value. It’s mass appealing, no one could dislike this unless the hate citrus. Great bottle to keep in you bag to freshen up after a workout or anytime throughout the day. Has a hefty screw down cap to prevent the sprayer or neck from getting damaged. DEFINITELY does not smell like Bleu de Chanel. I think it’s fairly close to Office especially in the opening, but it does lack Jeremy’s trademarked “POWER!” Performance is in the lighter side of moderate.

Its like a mix of Versace Man Eau Fraiche (even more candied citrus) Also a dry Cactus or whatever the note is in Bvlgari Man Extreme.. and something deeper appears like declaration or Givenchy play only very slightly for a few minutes if you overspray.. I prefer it in cooler weather as the Givenchy vibe appears more.. the juice feels like candied lemon peel juice, sticky making it actually feel more natural like a sticky fruit. Heat seems to emerge off of your skin (like davidoff hotwater). I have 9 bottles of this 😬

Please bother! I get more performance than expected, especially spraying on clothes. The scent itself is impeccable. At around $30 for 125mL this is a bargain from discounters. Blind buy worthy and just a cool spray around cologne for the heat. It won't offend anyone, but surely is not going to cut it for the colder months, even with the sweetness it brings to the citrus here. Quite unique other than it smell like Elysium, which I DOUBT a majority of people would have smelled before.
