Hint of Musk

I picked up a big can of this, in Boots. I remembered it, from my high school days, abroad. It still smells just as lovely. I don't get lime fruit, at all - but I am getting fresh citrus leaf and sparkly aldehydes, upon the initial application. The musk here, is quite lovely - what I would call a soft, red, deer musk. I can see how it might go off on dry skin types - that musk and tonka can go a bit sharp, without a base of moisturiser to sit on. I'm also getting heliotrope, a dry and milky sandalwood, and a bit of Taif rose. And maybe, just a touch of astringent and foxy red fruit. She goes on strong, but fades into a rounded, creamy, skin scent, very much like a musky version of Dove soap. On the whole, this reminds me IMMENSELY of "Soft Musk," by Avon. I am a sucker, for a well done musk, and I am pleased to add this to my collection.

The first impression was... the legend, No 5. I am one of those who rather loves the scent, so I'm sensitive to it like a police dog to a cocaine xd. Huge fan of how it develops on my skin in winter, I tend to build my whole outfit to it - I choose best quality fabrics, classic colours, give them some edgy vibe with make up / nails and then it's time to finish it off with the scent. I would say January and February would be my months of choice for it is easier to combine cashmere and frosty air to make the most of the notes. TOday I was lucky enough to get my Christmas present and couldn't believe how close the inexpensive deodorant gets to the luxury perfume. And yes, you're guessing properly - i've already started choosing the wardrobe to match the scent for coming 2 months. #feelinglucky!

In my country they categorized it as body mist and yes, they called it Merely Musk. One of my favorite since my school days. A bit soapy for a few minutes but later it will smell very nice and the longevity is excellent.

I love it!! I'm non binary and I think these notes r excellent, and for me personally it makes me feel gender euphoric!!

OK, I appreciate this is not an expensive high-end perfume but I am disappointed in this. I am not a perfume snob, in fact I really love Impulse's Into Glamour, but this one just does not work for me. Initially on first spray I can identify the Impulse family smell, which I like, and it appears that this version will be a strong and heavy smell but very quickly, it vanishes to nothing on my skin - when I say very quickly, I mean within a few minutes. I didn't pay much for this spray but I expect more than a few minutes worth. The fragrance is described as Lime and Sandalwood and I can detect the notes in it but they seem to lie side by side and not be blended. There is also an undercurrent of something synthetic about it. However, I have a soft spot for Impulse as it was around during my teenage years and we all wore it in my group of friends and I love the nostalgia. This will have to go into my "likes", I obviously don't love it but I can't really go as far to say I dislike it, it just has extremely poor longevity and I do like having a spray or a solid in my bag rather than a bottle - always a positive somewhere!

Hint of Musk is easily one of my favourite from the Impulse range. It is called Merely Musk here in Australia(exactly the same bottle, print etc, just the name’s different). Merely Musk is an ultimate luxury-white-soap but better, less soapy, but sweeter and creamier body spray which is really likable. I can't smell those individual notes listed here. The scent is just like white soap, or some ‘milk’ or original scented baby body lotion which I smelt a lot in Asian countries, as well as in some airport toilets, the handwasher soap. Even though merely musk reminds me of those not that luxury places, it is quite nice, inoffensive and definitely lovely to wear. Highly recommend if you want a laundry-clean scent that’s easy to wear and actually lovely(in comparison to some big names whose clean scent actually gives me a headache).

Launched in the 1990s? Hint of Musk Impulse - 'the brown one' - was definitely around when I was a teen in the 80s. I always wanted to like it, as I liked a lot of the 'musk' perfumes that were around but always felt kind of disappointed with Hint of Musk. My fave was 'the blue one' - Jeunesse (😍 bring it back, please). However, I found a can of Hint of Musk in my mum's stuff tonight, when we were chatting and I was nosying. I sprayed a bit on my hand and 😍 oooh, I love it! I think it smells the same as it did back then, and I know my tastes seem to have changed radically in recent years. It has a light fizziness to it, clean and soft. Think I'm off to buy a job lot! ETA: Just read Grimalkin's review and yes, that's it! There's an unexpected aldehydic sparkly fizziness there, beautiful.

(apparently this was called Merely Musk in Australia) I remember having this fragrance in primary school and middle school. Everyone had a can of impulse body spray and this one was the first I got. I liked it well enough but never wanted to buy it again- i was in favour of those with less musk and more sweetness. This spray reminds me of playing with my Bratz Forever Diamondz dolls, so I always associate this smell with a sleek, glamourous night life, but I still much prefer the Impulse Into Glamour for that.

awful. had to have a shower after spraying this all over myself to test. cheap white floral on cheap musk. smells like those cheap, unappealing little white soaps that you get free in cheap motel/hotel. blurgh.

I really didn't like this perfume , I have all the impulses but this one really wasn't my taste :/ to musky for me.

As musk scents go.......this it more comparable to a toilet cleaner. The scent is stiff, hollow, and bitter.

It smells of glue, cheap glue, I hate it.

The ultimate affordable musk on my skin chemistry. A soapier, stronger Avon's Night Magic/Jovan musk type of hybrid scent - starts out quite strong with a brash limey bergamot but soon dulls down to a subtle skin musk with a woody tone with a sandalwoody sort of incense base and maybe the vaguest whiff of vanilla. I would swear there is ylang ylang in here also. Great for a cheap thrill great to freshen up on casual days when wearing your worst track pants, a decade old metal tshirt and an oversized paint splattered sweat shirt when doing domestic chores or walking the dogs. This was my second fave after 'incesnse' variant of the line even when back in highschool, everyone considered this the 'granny' impulse flavour and would go for the vive or vanilla kisses. I like the musky non-sweetness and retro vibe this gives.

School, early 90s. Lovely! I’d love this in an EDT but for a quick spritz, the body spray does just fine. I’m sure I’ve smelled something similarly musky in the perfume world but I couldn’t pinpoint a particular fragrance. Not quite as iconic as The Body Shop White Musk (and I don’t think they smell alike) but this one is a nostalgic treasure. Now I wish Impulse would bring back O2 and Fresco, then I’d have my holy trinity of school nostalgia :D

Not sure what I think about it but I'm sure I woulnd't buy it again. Smells classic, hard soap. In fact; it's very soapy and powdery. If you want to smell like a walking, hard soap: this is for you. It's not bad but I don't want to say I like it enough (to mark it with Like) since it doesn't match the name and the "intentions". I expected lime, sandalwood and musk but I got soap. However, it's not a Dislike since it's not disgusting or awful.

Well, Impulse still exists, as body spray, and I'll get one or two, musk and the white one, just for old times sake. It was a classic in the 90's before brand perfumes bacame accessible, and I do miss the smell. Sometimes I open a bottle of perfume and just take a deep breath. I feel good, and Impulse is one of those timeless nostalgic perfumes, that will transport me, even for a brief moment back to when I was a 12-13 year old.

I can't believe IMPULSE is on here - staple of all Australian High school girls of my time - I have no idea what they're wearing now. Musk wasn't my favourite in high school - back then it was vive - but what Impulse you wore was quite a social statement. I wore Merely Musk while at university and always appllied liberally after a cigarette. I thought it smelt sort of vintage like a perfume from a hippie shop.

Whenever going about choosing a perfume as a gift for my mother I always use the scent of "Hint of Musk by Impulse." As a basis for a scent to Look for. My Mother loves musk and always had a aerosol spray of this deodorant around no matter how many new and tempting other scents appeared on the market. I am not finding this particular scent so easy to find as it once was.

when i was young it is very populer brand in turkey,lot of the deodorants sold all drugstores and everybody bought them for different seasons,fruitys for summer musks and vanillas for winters,i think there was a bit ordinary but i feel nostalgic now,fruity one is great:)

'Hint of musk' You gotta be kidding me - more like a slap in the face of musk! Tried this new today and quite honestly I stink - can't wait to wash it off when I get home. Smells a bit stale and cheap cheap cheap!
