High Life

I thought this would be my least favorite of the four based on the notes alone. Blueberry in perfume kind of repulses me because it immediately makes me think of scented markers, so I had already written this one off in my head. I was dead wrong this is actually my favorite of the four. The blueberry doesn’t read overly fruity or syrupy to me at all. It’s more of a green, sweet, crisp blueberry that gives the fragrance this really interesting freshness. That said, the rose and hibiscus are what stand out the most on my skin, and together they make the composition read like an airy, musky, floral. There’s something very polished and luxurious about it. It smells expensive without trying too hard, and honestly, it completely lives up to its namesake: High Life.

I’m always on the market for a blueberry perfume, and I’m so glad I picked this one up! Upon initial spray, it smells like blueberry hibiscus shampoo. As it dries down, the rose, frankincense, and patchouli come forward, making the fragrance more warm than I thought it was at first. I get the slight spice from the ginger, but it is very subtle and is the perfect touch. After about 30 minutes, it dries down to a woody, gingery musk that’s slightly powdery. I have nothing else in my collection that quite smells like this perfume, and it’s beautifully blended. I’m quite happy with this!

The opening of this scent literally makes me giddy it’s so good. It’s fruity and bright but turns into the most soft fruity musk.

I had high hopes for this. It’s been a let down. I love blueberry notes but they are rarely ever executed well. I think this house is getting influenced to death which is the story of so many scents these days. Anyway, the blueberry note lasts all of 1-2 minutes before it’s gone. It quickly settles to a very generic sweet smelling perfume. The longevity is poor. For the cost, it’s pretty disappointing. I’d sooner spend the money on Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy for a cloying generic blueberry scent. Overall, I was hoping it to be in the ballpark of Poets but it’s definitely not. I’d save your money if you’re looking for a niche high end smell with photorealistic blueberry.

The blueberry opening immediately caught my attention because blueberry can be a difficult note to get right. Here it feels bright, polished, and beautifully blended with raspberry while the musk keeps everything refined instead of overly sweet. As the fragrance develops, Turkish rose and hibiscus create a sophisticated floral heart before the blueberry makes a surprising return in the dry down, adding a soft, almost candy-like sweetness that never feels juvenile. This is such a fun fragrance that transitions beautifully from day to evening. It feels energetic, modern, and completely unique while remaining easy to wear.
