The Chypre

I should preface this by saying I think this is an absolutely wonderful scent, it smells gorgeous and incredibly expensive, but I don’t think it’s an accurate recreation of Chypre Extraordinaire. It has the foundations of that scent profile, and is easily recognisable to what it’s cloning, but something is a bit off. The intense sparkly fruity sweetness of the original is tuned down here dramatically, instead favouring the slightly richer leather and earthy nuances. It gives the scent an overall more masculine feel about it. As I said it smells absolutely brilliant, it’s just different. Personally I think the Alexandria Fragrances version of this is much more accurate, but I am considering picking this up to save myself draining my bottle of CE, but also for an alternative which would be slightly better suited to the cooler weather.

*Review of Roja Chypre Extraordinaire impression* Classy, hyper masculine, recognizable chypre, neither heavy nor light, grown up. Tested it so far in cold weather but I believe it's completely universal as seasons go - I haven't tested it but even in scorching summer it could smell good. EDIT: I got carried away by my own hype around it. Although I really like chypre quality in the beginning, leather and woods dry down isn't all that great.
