I tried Gold in their discovery set, and after wearing it a few times I realized this was not just another "The One inspired" fragrance. It reminded me why I fell in love with the original D&G The One EDP over a decade ago, except this feels like the version I always wished existed. The comparison to D&G The One is obvious and fair. The DNA inspiration is right there.... but Gold separates itself by fixing almost every issue I've had with The One and its flankers. The grapefruit stands out immediately. Not sharp or screechy, but rich, slightly sweet, and present throughout basically the entire life of the fragrance. That alone makes it feel more vibrant and versatile than most things in this style. Underneath, you get a smooth backbone of amber, tobacco, ginger, and woods that gives it the warm, seductive feeling people loved about the original EDP. But unlike the newer flankers that chase a kind of in-your-face sweetness or thick amber overload, Gold keeps everything balanced..which is what impressed me the most. The newer 2025 rereleases and flankers lost a lot of the magic for me. Some became dominated by syrupy blood orange, others buried the tobacco and woods under heavy amber until they lost the lift and versatility that made the original DNA so addictive. And the performance is absurd. The original The One EDP smells amazing but its longevity has basically become a meme at this point. Gold solves that completely while still maintaining the smooth, seductive character of the DNA instead of turning into a loud synthetic mess. Projection is strong for the first few hours, and I still catch wafts deep into the day. The grapefruit continuing to linger into the drydown keeps the whole thing feeling alive. Despite how strong it is, it never feels sweet or cloying. The amber adds depth without suffocating, the tobacco and woods still breathe underneath, and the ginger gives it just enough freshness to stop it from becoming too dense. I live in a warmer climate and while I wouldn’t wear this in the blazing heat, I still find myself even being drawn to this fragrance when we’re in the slightly warmer months because of how nice the grapefruit is. This feels like what The One DNA always should have evolved into. It captures the bright spiced citrus at the top as well as the smooth warmth and addictiveness of the original... but modernizes it with better structure, better performance, and a more complete composition. I prefer this over the OG EDP and every flanker I've tried. 1000% full bottle worthy 9.7/10

Highly recommend if you're a fan of warm/tobacco fragrances. It's so pleasant and elegant unlike Argon which is overly spicy which is not for me. This the better fall/winter scent for sure. It's not too long lasting, at most 4 hours, but that's solid for a date night type fragrance. Sometimes I put this on before bed because of how much of a warm and cozy feeling I get from it.

Strangely a more unisex version of The One edt. Immediately from the first spray the mid of the D&G was clearly recognizable, only more....floral? And with artificial sweetener vibes? It just seemed a tad "off", as if the blend wasn't quite coherent. Out of the entire line, this one deviated the most from its inspiration by dialing down the woody tobacco and adding this strange sweetness that I couldn't quite pin. My brain kept telling me it was more orange blossom but it just felt more fem-leaning. Doesn't feel as robust as the original and certainly not the edp, and that amber is more high pitched if that makes sense. Wasn't originally a fan of the opening, but as it settled it slowly got closer to the original. Not a straight up dupe though, like some of the others from the brand. Performance is very decent because of the extra sweet base, and a good 2.5x that of the D&G from my experience. Moreover, I recently tested the new parfum flanker of The One and much prefer this fragrance. Unfortunately, it doesn't beat out the edp or the edt for me; but if you're a woman that adores the line, you could easily wear this one and smell great. So in a sense, it's still a win.
