Savanna

I was lucky to find Savanna and Mandarin in an auction from the estate of a perfume collector. I have the notes for Mandarin but can't find perfume notes for Savanna anywhere and, it's weird, but unlike @Tovah, I get no green notes at all! Savanna is an utterly gorgeous honey-drenched floral which begins with a touch of lemon blossom, narcissus, freesia, mimosa, marigold and a very light touch of tuberose. These scents are combined in a way that is harmonious and blended, with none of the floral notes dominating. The scent reminds me of a freshly picked bouquet of wildflowers, picked in the morning and bursting with blossoming glory and vitality. It's authentically mixed-floral, in the same way a florist shop is the sum of its individual notes where all the scents combine in a kind of floral haze. Savanna is that floral haze, with a drizzle of honecomb which reminds me of Zoology's Bee. In the perfume's heart I get linden blossom and more tuberose, with some orange blossom and a mass of blended blossoms. It radiates off my skin in the same way a vase of flowers on a table imbues the air around it. I'm reminded of L'Artisan's La Chasse Aux Papillons, although Savanna is deeper and the rich honeycomb makes it less angelic and more impactful than LCAP. Sublime. Wow! I'd forgotten all about this fragrance...which is strange, because I wore it on my wedding day in 1998! I got it at Nordstrom on the day that happened to be the day my husband proposed, so it was the perfect scent to wear for the ceremony. Isabel's fragrances seemed to disappear from counters within months of being released. I got married in the mountains, at the end of February. I hate the mountains, and winter, (my husband loves both), so I wore this bright green sunny fragrance so I'd smell summery. I wore an emerald green silk dress, topped with antique lace, and a long antique lace mantilla. This very green fragrance went well with my favorite color (emerald). I wore emerald jewelry as well.We honeymooned along the Coast, so the mountains were a fun escape.I think the only other fragrance I owned at the time was Clinique Happy... I haven't smelled Savanna in many years, but I remember thinking of it as "Chanel No. 19 without leather..." I have no idea if that's accurate, I knew nothing about fragrances back then. Remembering Savanna brightened my day!
