Milky Dragon

I'm extremely fond on this one after getting a decant (full bottle coming!). I'm surprised to see comments about how it's not reminiscent of Quanzhou milk oolong. To me, Jin Shuan (which some say is the original "milk oolong") or some Dong Ding oolongs will have that distinct buttery/creamy texture and taste. Almost like buttery popcorn at times. I certainly smell that buttery note here. I'll agree that the aromatics here make the perfume lean a little on the aromatic side (the buchu here is the main culprit I believe) and not delicate enough but then, you would barely be able to smell it otherwise and people nowadays all complain about lack of longevity, so I think some compromise has to be made. In my humble opinion, this is very warm, cozy and surprisingly sweet and nutty. This a total cocooning scent, when I feel chilly and I want something to match a warming vibe by the fire with a good cuppa. Bring inspired by milk oolong and other "fresh" (green, or "blue" in tea terms) oolongs, it does have a green vibe that reminds me of the tea note in something like Bulgari Pour Homme or Banana Republic's Vintage Green, so I understand why some mention it leans masculine to them. There's no bitterness at all here though. It's a surprisingly layered scent, complex yet easy to understand. On skin, I get a few hours worth but it stays relatively close to skin after an hour. It's not the kind of perfume I'd wear to go clubbing, obviously. This to me is more introspective, almost spiritual. Very "zen" for a lack of better wording. Came in for the name and as a tea lover, left very satisfied with an oolong tea perfume, feeling zen and with a full bottle on the way.

On paper the tea note is very present. However on skin it’s citrusy floral and kind of “soft” kind of like a Japanese gummy. From my skin I get a soft warmers balanced by something acidic. It’s really pleasant but definitely need to be tried on skin. I will edit later for the longevity and the dry down edit : So I tried it multiple time and side by side with my other tea perfume, especially "culothé" by Versatile Paris, which helped me pinpoint its specificity, this one is definitely softer, I kind of get some apricot note, probably from the osmanthus, it's a round and soft perfume, I stay on my position on this, it's so pleasant and will be perfect on spring time, longevity is okay, like most of niche perfume 5-6h on skin probably more on clothes, but then the juice is less round. And so for the versatile comparison, culothé is more spicy a little bit more harsh on the nose, less buttery but good, and definitely less expensive but in my opinion since I don't want to have similar perfume in my perfume wardrobe, I'm gonna stick to milky dragon "end of the edit" I have a sample of the three first perfume from Isabelle Larignon and I was surprised that the three of them have more or less the same top note (bergamot, bucchu and cardamom) but the three of them are really different and convey a different mood. Here I get fresh spring perfume, I have lived in Taipei for a year and drank my fill of 奶茶 (milk tea) but I’m not sure of getting milk tea here

Very nice! Milky Dragon really does smell like an authentic milk oolong tea such as my Nai Xiang from Taiwan. Milky Dragon opens with the slight tinge of bitterness of oolong and goes immediately into milk oolong’s buttery, creamy, milky tones. During drydown, Milky Dragon has interwoven a hint of the floral scent of a lightly roasted milk oolong. Even as I catch occasional citrus and floral scents wafting by, the underlying slight astringency of the oolong tea persists. I don’t smell the honeyed fruit notes that are more typical of the deeply roasted milk oolongs. So for about 4 hours, I am enjoying the calming escape into my cup of lightly roasted milk oolong. After 4 hours, I get a sense of trees or a forest, but with no identifiable tree scents; I presume this sense is from the base notes of cedar, oakmoss, and fir. Milky Dragon was not a huge projector; more to be enjoyed as a close or personal scent. Longevity is about 4-6 hrs. A most enjoyable respite from holiday demands and noisesome activities. I bought both my initial sample and subsequent full bottle of Milky Dragon from Sainte Cellier and strongly endorse the recommendation of Lex11180. Brooke, the CE ‘Eau of Sainte Cellier, was quick to respond to my chat messages and was very personable. I enjoy the opportunity to support small businesses. I intend to purchase from Sainte Cellier again soon.

Very, very beautiful. There is one note that just grinds my gears though. Its that slightly fishy note that you occasionally get with green tea or seaweed. I see neither in the note breakdown, though I do see others mentioning a nod to seaweed. Still, gorgeous. I have to call it a love even though I cant wear it. It's quite fruity, feels like more than just the bergamot listed. Almost gives an elegant, polished Zebra Stripe gum vibe. Im getting tea leaves in the heart, not just on the top. Minimal cardamom, no butter here. Very naturalistic contrary to the several aromachemicals listed. A soft, mossy base. Extraordinarily well blended. Nicely done! I wish for more sillage and longevity, but I think that's often the trade off for scents this elegant. Unisex, almost all season. Fairly priced. Borderline blind buy worthy if this is your scent profile.

Got a decant and will def be buying a full bottle. It is a very odd scent, its like a green spicy smell which is so interesting to me, like your cutting up spicy herbs from your garden on a wooden cutting board with a strong oolong/green tea is brewing right by you. I can definitely see why people may not like this but it is so zen and nice. As a tea perfume enjoyer I loved this one, it is in my opinion more green than oolong, and a very garden-y scent, as if you were smelling a fresh pre-dried tea outside. I read its similar to Arielle Shoshana's Sunday (I own a full bottle), and unfortunately I have to disagree it's a completely different scent, Sunday is way creamier and smells of toasted rice and rice milk with matcha, where Milky Dragon is a spicy fresh green. Overall love this scent but get a decant as it is a little odd lol.

Opens with a beautiful warm and aromatic cardamom and loose leaf smell. This smells like fresh tea but not brewed, just the tea leaves with a spice to it. As the scent develops you start to get those creamy and buttery undertones. There’s almost no sweetness here, it’s purely a smooth, creamy, and lactonic blend but with slightly floral, aromatic tones rather than sweet or gourmand like you usually get with those aromas. It’s a gorgeously enveloping tea scent that really does nail the more green tones of tea while still maintaining a very creamy and milky feel. The full dry down is earthier and woodier but still has some soft smoothness to it, the cashmeran here adding a subtle semblance of cozy sweetness paired with natural green accords. This is a lovely take on a tea scent that feels above the crowd.

wow, very soft citrusy and green tea leaves on the spray, the dry down is still very lactonic, milky with the green tea notes, a really nice soft milky oolong tea, the tea note is so well made, really good quality and insanely well balanced, it's actually addicting, I cannot stop sniffing it, so cozy and comforting but still feels very wearable during summer, really versatile too, my only gripe is that I wish it projected just a tiny bit more, but besides that I love it what I also really appreciate is that over time the dry down becomes a super unique musky second skin and at no point does it turn into a generic cashmeran musk, which is rare the early/mid sillage reminds me of jodhpur 6am by L'Entropiste, but over time it eventually becomes its own unique thing entirely

this is an any season, herbaceous, damp milky scent. i get a lot of cardamom, with the milk rounding out the whole scent. and adding a certain clean damp skin quality, almost ozonic in how well rounded it is.it sits pretty close to the skin but i can really imagine that someone who wants an unsweet but milky cardamom-tea scent would wear this really well. EDIT; this scent really grew on me, i ended up buying a whole bottle when i found myself reaching for it on a really hard days. its comforting and inoffensive, and very elegant but familiar.

Wonderful perfume. Camphorous, warm, creamy, and cozy. I understand the inspiration is milky oolong, but don’t get this perfume expecting a photo-realistic tea scent. It’s not particularly tea-y nor is it all that similar to the scent of milky oolong. Rather it seems to be more inspired by the tasting notes of milky oolong, if that makes sense. Though it has a camphorous quality, it’s not overly fresh, or green (for me), rather it stays more of a warm creamy smell.

Absolute love from the first sniff when it was launched. Happy to have first batch bottle when those came in the tin containers :) Milky Dragon is crafted for tea lovers by someone who truly understands the nuances of milk oolong. One of the most gorgeous, unique and cozy fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s like cozying up at home with a fruity milk tea during the summer. The moss adds beautiful depth to the experience, like your in the backwoods of Florida and there’s Spanish moss everywhere

Really lovely, pleasing scent. It’s like a murky balm of wet tea leaves, a little buttery sweetness, some barely there white floral and citrus, with a smooth cashmere and slightly woody base. It’s very beautiful but I am struggling with the sillage and longevity.

Really aromatic. Almost headache inducing. I don’t get any laconic notes, sadly—to me it smells humid, earthy, herby. Like sniffing the fragrant steam off a cup of strong herbal tea. Unfortunately, it’s a blend of tea I’m not really into. Unisex.

My first sniff of this outside of the store, i was taken back to something i smelled in childhood. Something fruity and soft about this, warm and lactonic. I put in on before bed and it felt perfect for that occasion.

I adore this scent. It reminds me so much of the passion fruit Lipsmackers I had when I was a kid. It's a perfect spring and summer perfume and easily one of the best and most unique tea scents in my collection.

To me, this smells like peaches and salty melted butter with a bit of green herbal edge. I think there are some peach/apricot lactones used to try to achieve a milky smell. Makes me think about brunch!

Warm, velvety, dry, milky, and earthy all at once. I pick up figs and apricots and something that tickles my nose a bit. It's one of my absolute favs; I reach for this often.

My favorite perfume of all time- delicate, light, and not at all traditionally "perfumey." If you've smelled high- quality milk oolong leaves, it's exactly that scent.

feels warm and feminine. but not too sweet, thank god. great tea scent. never smelled a lactonic fragrance before and i really enjoy it. shelving this until fall.

this stuff is straight up CRACK

A beautiful green tea fragrance—matcha-like, with a buttery, lactonic quality, complemented by cardamom. No fruitiness or dryness on my skin, as I’ve seen mentioned in other reviews. Instead, it’s damp, well-rounded, and a true skin scent. It shines best on slightly damp skin or in a humid environment, almost like the scent of a rainy day—cozy and comforting. A perfect after-shower fragrance. I had the pleasure of meeting Isabelle Larignon during Paris Perfume Week—such a cool and lovely person, truly embodying the spirit of her brand. I’ll definitely be exploring more of her creations.

First wearing today based on sample from Sainte Cellier. This is a lovely gentle tea dominant scent, it doesn't feel bitter or smoky at all. There are some citruses initially, with some delicate floralcy as it dries down. It's very pleasant, but I get no lactonic, creamy or gourmandness at all on my skin, which is what I'd hoped for and expected based on the name. It's lightly aromatic and gently sparkling, with fairly decent longevity for this kind of fragrance (I'm nearing 5.5 hours and it's soft but still perceptible). Pleasant enough but not what I'd thought it would be!

This is a very nice creamy but still aromatic scent. I sprayed and reminded me so much of a perfume, took me a second to place - but it was Arielle Shoshana Sunday. It has a similar creamy sweetness but still holding on to a light tea aromatic quality to them. Very pretty if you are in the market for a scent like this, I am not sure price wise if Milky Dragon or Sunday is less- but they are similar enough that I would not feel the need to own both. Totally unisex, I would say good all year round, but the sweetness may be cloying on a hotter summer day.

Smells like cereal milk with pieces of artificial fruit cereal, don’t know what to make of it. The dry down is getting less sweet and softer tho. I’m 50/50 about it UPDATE: This did a full 180 on me. I love love love it now. It’s like a unsweetened milk tea that you drink during a storm. Weird I know, but amazing. The day I smelled it for the first time I had expectations & was smelling 7 other perfumes. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t the most accurate

I think the invigorating tea and fresh citrus notes are prominent. These zesty notes are softened by beautiful cozy creaminess. Beautifully balanced. I need to get a full bottle of this. However, this sits very close to the skin and I need to overspray to smell the beautiful scent on me.

I’m a bit skeptical about the lactonic and creamy facets. I perceive it mainly as a fresh, subtly sweet tea-centered fragrance. Perhaps I have a blind spot for lactonic notes, or they might just be present in minuscule amounts. I had high hopes for a more distinctive signature.

This perfume is sooo good!! I have been building out my tea collection and this is a must. At first spray it definitely smells more green but as it sits to me I get a beautiful tea scent. Lasted a while on my skin and I kept getting a whiff all day.

The opening is Milk Oolong tea. The base is buttered vanilla. I like it a lot, very unusual. Tame, calm, comforting. Lovely.

Review based on a 2ml sample fragrance from Sainte Cellier (who I would HIGHLY recommend) This is a very creamy lactonic scent, that reminds me of a hand cream my mum used to use. The main notes you're going to get are citrus, cream and a touch of tea. I do find myself wishing for a bit more of a dominant tea note however. I'd say this wears unisex but leans feminine because of it's creaminess. Very pleasant, easy day to day fragrance, but it just doesn't wow me like I was hoping. I was hoping for a bit more spiciness from that cardamom coming in, but to me it doesn't really show itself all that much. Two fragrances sprung to mind when I first smelled this. It has a citrus opening, drying down to a creamy composition akin to that of Byredo's Gypsy Water (although they do not smell alike). It also has the citrus tea note you'd find with Nishane's Wulong Cha, which obviously makes sense given both are scents based around Oolong Tea. I always found Wulong Cha to be far too citrus dominant with not much else going for it, but Milky Dragon is far more pleasantly balanced and wearable in my opinion.

Review of “Milky Dragon” by Isabelle Larignon One of the most fascinating aspects of Milky Dragon is how clearly defined its structure is — you can distinctly perceive the top, heart, and base notes as they evolve on the skin. The opening is absolutely lovely: fresh, fizzy, green, and cheerful. It immediately puts you in a good mood, like the first breeze of spring through open windows. Then the heart arrives, and it lingers the longest — here is where the perfume becomes creamy and milky, almost like sweetened yogurt or a scoop of buttery ice cream (if that could exist!). This middle phase is not my personal favorite, but I recognize how skillfully it's done. In the base, the scent dries down into a soft blend of cashmere and a gentle herbal note that’s quite pleasant — comforting without being overly warm or heavy. Overall, the longevity on my skin is moderate, and although it's a very interesting and well-executed fragrance, I wouldn’t purchase the full-size bottle.

Buttermilk smell. Slightly sour and tangy. Agree with the "greasiness" aspect of the butter notes, creates this weird film over the fragrance, like when you whip butter and the smell gets in the air. When you get very close to where you sprayed it, the tea and cedar become much more apparent, but then the butter is so in the way and overwhelming and it creates a weird scent muddle. Plus I wouldn't consider oolong to be a tea that goes well with milk, the way that brewed black tea or matcha does, so the combo doesn't sit well together in this fragrance. The tea is very dry and acidic and doesn't play well with the butter and lactones. Unfortunately a miss for me, but I liked where it was headed.

Sadly I don't smell anything milky, or even buttery. To me this smells like wet tea leaves that have been sitting out for a while, a bit old. There is an earthy bitterness that is so off putting. I typically love tea scents, so this was disappointing...thank goodness for sampling!

This one is alright. Smells mostly like creamy green tea when smelling from a distance, and when I go in close I can pick out the butter smell. More feminine leaning IMO, and smells more like a cream than a perfume.

A sweet slightly milky berry scent. There’s some sweet musk in the dry down. It doesn’t smell like its scent profile. I’m surprised it’s bergamot and not black currant or something similar. A bit of a plastic note.

Definitely not what I expected - clean and slightly sweet, very poor sillage. It would be well suited for those who like soft, unobtrusive skin scents.

I wanted to like this from the name alone but it leaned too aromatic for me. It’s sweet enough but it wouldn’t be my first pick if you’re looking for a feminine scent. Lactonic accord is apt. And now that I see it listed, I can pick out the butter note a little too welll. Not a fan. It adds an unbecoming “greasiness” to the scent. Great performance-normally the case for me with aromatics. I usually spray a lot but I was especially sparse with my sprays, because I had a small sample. 5 hours later-the scent is showing no signs of waning.

I had high hopes for this. I was in the perfume shop when my sister pointed this one out to me. It smelled pretty good so I decided to skin test this... it's turned into fresh and slimey seaweed on my skin, with a bit of milk. I'm not a fan of this fragrance, sorry. I don't even have much words for this. It's seaweed and milk. I'll continue looking for a nice tea fragrance.

When I first sniffed this on paper I thought it was the most perfect and comforting milk tea. I was really expecting to like this more, but after wearing it something about it is too stringent to my nose. There's simply something off about it like a milk tea that has soured and gone bad.

Am i the only one who smells sea note? It smells like sea note from basic colonge and tea i do not feel anything special about it to be all time favorite for some influencers!

Love these notes but on me the seaweed takes center stage and it reminds me secretions magnifique which I struggle with

A 100% successful blind buy for me - normally I don't do this. Ace service from Sainte Cellier too. This is predominantly a citrusy, fruity amber for me with some aromatic "brightness" and it has a decent sillage/projection. I am falling in love with the unique green notes from the buchu but I don’t seem to be getting too many lactones or “buttery ice cream” like reviewers below. I’ll try layering this with something else to bring out the milkiness in its name. I wouldn't have recognised it as a tea scent if I wasn't familiar with the perfumer's concept as there are no explicit tea accords here. Edit: Okay when I do a bit of overspraying (like 10 sprays total on my body) I do get more of that aromatic "nutty" aspect from the oolong but it's subtle. After owning this perfume for a month, I completely agree with the reviewer below saying that the lactones have fruity apricot notes. The last skin-scent stage of the drydown smells exactly like Maya Njie’s Tropica, which smells like a very faint apricot with waxy coconut and green notes from fig. However, the overall projection and performance of MD is substantial and worth your money, unlike Tropica. I have this listed as my signature scent now. I don't use it every day, but it is something I return to regularly for comfort or joy.

Definitely not getting milky from this. I blind bought this (I know I know, not the smartest thing to do) and upon first spray, it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. It wasn’t milky and it wasn’t tea-like. Instead it was an almost bitter bergamot something else I couldn’t pinpoint. It wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t figure out if I liked it. As it dried it created this sense of dejavu I couldn’t shake until I finally realized it was very similar to L’orchestrade the Darbouka, which I also have. The butter comes out after about 20 mins or so. I think I’ll eventually come to really like it but it’ll likely take a few more wears for me to really evaluate.

My boyfriend immediately said this smells like a fruity vape (lol) but to me this is cardamom and butter. I’ve come to realize that butter co2 which has become trendy among niche perfumers has a very distinct smell that is more impressionistic than true to actual butter. It dominates other notes in most compositions I’ve tried that have it (I.e. Selperniku by January Scent Project). I don’t really get “tea” from Milky Dragon. Mostly fruity lactones that wear very close to the skin. Overall, it’s pleasant but not really a stand out or something I’d want to wear.

Blind bought this one. I became tea obsessed after buying Wulong Cha X (stunning BTW) I read the previous reviews and was a little skeptical about how this was going to work out. Boy oh boy ! What a stunning fragrance. Definitely smells like dry tea leaves. Reminds me of my favorite tea from Bigelow, Constant Comment. Same spicy earthy dry tea fragrance. I absolutely love Milky Dragon. Nothing sharp or cloying, just a straightforward tea scent with a little earthy, maybe the cedar, dry down. So happy I took a chance

unique tea scent. it smells nothing like milk tea to me though. i know the notes don't match this, but to me it smells like overly strongly brewed, slightly sweetend green and olong tea with lemon. its pretty sharp and hard to describe. i didn't quite know what to expect but not this. i've never smelled a perfume like this. its not ,,bad" but there is something annoyingly ,,off" about it to my nose. its prettier on paper, but on my skin it was just very irritating.

Hated it when I got the sample but I only sprayed it once before a shower just to test it briefly. But after a proper full wear I actually like it. If I never saw the notes I’d think this was all milk and mint and some other herbs making up the base. It’s milkiness is kind of annoying for the first 15 minutes but gets buttery after a bit and has that camphor mint on top that I like. Yeah I’d own this for sure

I thought I was crazy the first several times I tried this.. just a light, aromatic tea. Pretty, but nothing remotely lactonic. After exercising a bit more patience I realized that this fragrance is a total transformer- an hour in, it takes a complete 180 and becomes a sheer wash of pure butter. Milky feels like a reach, but still, What a delight! Can’t wait to wear in the spring :)

I really want a creamy, buttery (and sexy) lactonic. But this sadly smelled sour, sort of like milk you should have thrown out a few days ago. I did not feel dangerous or mystical á la "dragon," I just sort of felt dirty (and NOT in a sexy way). I am sure there is someone's skin where this is both bright/sharp and silky/creamy. Oh well, the search continues.
