Sir Gallahad

I got my Isabey samples in the mail today. Unfortunately, some of their fragrances that I thought would be included were not. Their website is a bit confusing, but it is hard to find samples of this brand, so I bought direct from them. At this price point I would not blind buy. That being said, here are my thoughts on Sir Galahad. This perfume opens bright w/ aldehydes and has an almost expensive hairspray effect. As the fragrance continues it becomes a very feminine white floral that is creamy, and rich. Like a very expensive soap or lotion. The florals are bright but soft and creamy at the same time. You can sense warmth from Saffron, olibanum and tobacco but you don't really smell them. The mandarin orange on top adds a bit of sweetness but this perfume is not sweet, it is all about the creamy, narcotic, hypnotizing white florals. This perfume to me smells of romance, languid days spent in some idyllic paradise, it smells like a honeymoon suite. The clean white bedding, exotic flowers fill the room and cigarettes, or pipe tobacco are on the nightstand. I have to say this is one of the most romantic perfumes I have smelled. Full bottle worthy. Testing this later on fabric more of the tobacco, olibanum and saffron come out. On my skin it was all white florals... interesting.... I really like this perfume, but I struggle w/ the name and branding. I just don't think I can buy and wear a perfume called Sir Galahad. My brother-in-law to be loves white florals and many of them are branded towards women. I am sending my sample off to him to try.

I was searching for a gardenia Fragrance because it is my favorite flower and! Wow im glad i find this gem! This extremely powerful gardenia! On my skin is a white floral and it pairs so great with the tobacco i can pull it off! On paper is kinda feminine but on my skin the tobacco supports the Gardenia so well! And Turns more masculine! I recommend you this one if you like white florals but it isn't a safe blind buy! This gardenia and pair with the tobacco and a perceptible Amber have a calming effect on me! And boy! It is a compliment getter! A friend of mine told that she couldn't stop smelling me! I have to buy it at retail price because i couldn't find it anywhere! Maybe at Ebay you can find some deals but i doubt it sillage:. 10/10 Longevity: . 10/10 Scent:. 10/10 Originality: 8/10 Value. 8/10 I only use one to two at my wrist sprays because it is really strong, the season is summer, i ain't try it on winter. The box is really pretty! Many details here! Have a nice day!!

I got sample of everything from Isabey as I loved Gardenia so much. I also have fleur nocturne and Prends-moi bottles. As others have said, the 'male' label baffles me. It feel very sultry but very feminine. I feel all the isabey parfums, with the exception of Prends-moi, have a similar base then add different notes and accords. (in the same way Maison Francis Kurkdjian parfums have a similar undercurrent). I think it's the gardenia in the Isabeys that seem so familiar. they are soft and slightly powdery and sultry. Then Lys Noir has lily and this one has jasmine, tobacco and saffron. On me, I get lush blend of gardenia, hints of jasmine and undertones which I guess is the smokiness and saffron. It's not peppery or spicy in any way on me. It almost comes out lilac. I really love it and think that on a man it might smell lovely, but not a manly smnell at all.

I was a bit skeptical about this fragrance since I'm not fond of white or yellow florals. However, after doing some research and finding a great price, I decided to go for it, and I'm glad I did. This fragrance beautifully balances feminine and masculine notes. I honestly don't know what gardenia smells like (do they even have a scent?), but this blend works perfectly for me. I can detect jasmine (fresh, not indolic), dusty incense, faint spice, and a hint of tobacco in the background. With today's temperature at 85 degrees, this scent is radiating wonderfully. Overall, it was a very successful blind buy.

A beautiful interpretation,an unusual and never felt gardenia, an enveloping amber,ancient,regal! A fragrance that knows how to distinguish itself. The note of oliban in the distance is really fantastic, i really like the drydown, I love this particular parfum! Sillage: 6./10 Longevity: 9./10 Scent: 8./10 Overall: 8./10

MAN is this some beautiful juice. A masculine gardenia frag? Sign me UP. And Fragrancenet had it for around $40 for 100ml until they recently ran out. If you see a bottle for a reasonable price, grab it. It's worth every nickel. At this price, I grabbed seven.

Let me start out by noting that I love the smell of gardenia. Sir Gallahad, by the recently revived house of Isabey, does an excellent job conjuring gardenia from the opening through the heart. There is a touch of orange citrus in the first moments after spraying, and a whiff of very slightly indolic jasmine in the heart, but most of what I get in the first couple of hours wearing this fragrance is that natural smelling gardenia with a trace of fruity sweetness. Were the progression of the scent to stop there, the notion that this fragrance is marketed to men might seem preposterous. But in the warm, rich dry down, this scent shifts to reveal a delightful tobacco and amber blend that is indeed rather masculine. Late in the dry down, a dark, rubbery vetiver is also noticeable. This fragrance bespeaks grace and dignified elegance in a manner reminiscent of the 1920s (the heyday of the House of Isabey in its first iteration) when a gardenia in a button hole was a common enough sight and a marked floral scent was exactly what a well dressed man frequently chose to apply to complete his snappy outfits. I must mention the exceptional presentation here. The bottle is retro in a classic art deco way with some raised lettering and an engraved metal label. The cap is heavy, chromed metal and feels solid in hand. The atomizer is excellent and even the box is very nice. This presentation simply screams quality and style and hints at the overall excellence of the well-blended juice inside the bottle. This fragrance is unusual in today's marketplace and I enjoy owning a bottle because there is nothing else quite like it. Plus, as I said at the outset of this review, I like gardenia. Regardless of your gender identity, Sir Gallahad is well worth checking out if you, like me, have a love of gardenias--real or conjured in a beautifully composed fragrance.

I love gardenia and own Fleur Nocturne from this same house. Isabey definitely knows its way around gardenia and Sir Gallahad is no exception to this rule. I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that this directly marketed at men. True, there is a tobacco note but it is a nice moist sweet pipe tobacco that we have here. I'm at loss as to why or how this would be masculine. Surely, I can see how some men could pull it off (only those that are supermasculine) but to me this is not a lesser woman than Fleur Nocturne itself. OK, I'll get over it. I lied, I had one more thing to add. Amouage had a few a fumes for women that were featuring tobacco and lot drier... ok, I'm done now. With regards to notes, gardenia, tobacco and something sweet (probably mix of amber&orange) are interplaying and while Fleur Nocturne is the diva, with Sir Gallahad I picture a woman who's ultrafeminine yet supercool. While the Fleur Nocturne diva demands attention, chocolate & roses and demands man to kneel, this one would know that she does not need to make a men kneel , she's already wrapped them around her fingers. Or his fingers. The name is confusing me. Sir Gallahad here will prompt men to be on their best behaviour and not taking any BS. It feels strong in the first two hours and calming down after that to a skin scent. P.S the drydown is less gardenia, however, it solely moved to unisex and my book ...oh my oh my.

Jasmine-fueled impression of gardenia, with a nice freshness thanks to the citruses, and a very noticeable support of tobacco in the base. It's not without reminding of ELdO Jasmin et Cigarettes, but this one is less edgy, and probably more unisex (vs J&C that I found to lean fem). Great performance. Very nice fragrance, deviated from their iconic Lys Noir, with a more masculine twist. Highly recommended for fans of that genre!

I keep going back and forth on whether this is a good scent or not because the dark gardenia feels unnecessarily smothered under an overly generous layer of sweetness. And it’s not just a sweetness that could come from mandarin or something similar, there’s more to it. The clean feel of the gardenia and the depth of the tobacco are both beautiful, but I can’t seem to focus on them because I’m constantly distracted by that artificial sweetness. Just when it starts to get truly beautiful toward the drydown, the performance begins to drop.

beautiful scent! declared as a masculine fragrance named as French Thoroughbred racehorse (see wikipedia) but the scent is completely feminine and there is nothing masculine in it not even those little thin borders that are unisex this is like you read "for women" on the Ytagan Caron declaration lol but this link to a thoroughbred horse, declared to be male, still resonates with me ... and the smell is actually for female population ... it would be more logical for me if the link was correct( on wiki) that the scent was inspired by a horse but that it was then declared as male hahaha it would make more sense haha This it is only entangled in name and meaning ( maybe ? ? this is a pure woman in a bottle! A very beautiful alluring woman 27+ I'd say Sir Gallahad rode off to the next door with other men ... so the women stole this scent from him...

I agree that this is not masculine, it's a creamy floral. I can't even really get the tobacco or vetiver notes that would make it so, perhaps on drydown. I think the reason it's marketed to men is to up Isabey's sales :) And the grey packaging along with Sir in name is enough to lead people. Definitely quality gardenia and amber.

this has a creamy floral + red vines licorice dna i've smelled in other isabey samples it also has a deep smoky tobacco cigar note it teeters between floral nectar sweet & then savory, earthy, & boozy 3-4 sprays has big projection and the longevity lasts 12+ hours which is typical of all the isabey scents

Incredible heady scent. Delicious and super classy, gardenia sitting on sweet tobacco. Divine! Men can wear it too, it's floral but the tobacco and amber ground it.

This sounds very interesting, though perhaps they should have named it Lady Guinevere instead, LOL.
