Pebenegra

Acheté par hasard à un marché près de Grasse. Le parfum est exquis, très boisé, un peu poivré. Cela me fait penser également à la cire d'abeille que l'on sent quand on entre dans une vieille église ou cathédrale bien entretenue ! La longévité est parfaite et le sillage tient très bien. Magnifique !

I bought this fragrance in Grasse when i was visiting. To me this smells almost exactly like Initio Rehab, and of course by extension Spicebomb. After trying this on one hand and my Rehab on the other. They are extremely similar. The only real difference is that Rehab has a bit of vanilla in the base, and a bit more chestnut in the mid. But all in all they are very very similar. This costs 49 euro, Initio Rehab costs 200 euro. Do the math :)

Hm, the previous reviewer says the perfume is very woody and a bit peppery, like you enter an old church. All right, I have different impression as a woman. Pebenegra is one of my least favourite perfume of the Isnards. For me, it is VERY spicy, peppery, I have mistaken the combination for being the cardamom. But no, it is not cardamom, because I like cardamom. I like black pepper, too, but here, with combination with a bit strict, aloof lavender and sour, sharp lemon it really gives the vibes - stay away from me! Also the cloves and cedar are quite prominent, and very sweet. I would prefer the combination - less spice, more wood. I feel this perfume is leaning towards masculine. It is not bad, Isnard has good blends, just this is not something I would wear. The smell has somewhat vintage-y feeling, and I understand the previous reviewer who says it is like old churches. It is that mossy, chypre, wet, incense-y feeling, I get from the perfume, too, like you enter some historical archaeological findings under the ground. It is pleasant, just the overall smell is not talking to me, personally. But I appreciate the art behind this juice, it is done well, as all Isnards.
