L'eau d'Issey Eau D'Ete Summer Edition for Men

I won't say that Eau d'Ete Summer Edition is better than the original, but it is a fresh & subdued version of the original L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme. It has been subdued in a way that's just right for my taste. With this version, they are successful in subduing the very strong flowery notes of the original which after prolonged use feels too strong for me. That's my only regret with L'Eau d'Issey, which I hoped before that they'd do something about. Now here it is, it's just what I asked for. I tested it earlier at the perfume store & the only thing that held me from buying it is that I had just purchased some fragrances for myself last christmas. But surely, I'll get it the next time around. Same as the original, though subdued in a way, it is a long lasting scent. It's reliable enough to last from morning 'til afternoon. The acclaimed 2009 Summer Edition, the best of them all. This one is famous for a reason and that's because out of all the Issey Miyake summer flankers from 2007 to 2017, this one stands out among them as not only unique but also of a very high quality. This is a watery, citrus-floral aquatic with remarkable sillage and very good longevity. It's more elegant and sophisticated than the other summer flankers as a result of the incorporation of the floral notes and how they are paired with the citrus. It has a semi-formal feel, like something you'd wear to an outdoor party as opposed to something completely casual. The florals soften the edges of this flanker and reduce the typical sharpness present in many of the Issey Miyake L'Eau offerings. This is a big reason for what sets it apart from the others. While I often find many of the Issey Miyake scents sharp and abrasive, 2009 is not. So even if you're not a fan of Issey Miyake, you may like this. There is a beautiful watery quality present in this as well, an aqueous texture that gives one the impression of a cool crystal clear pond with flowers floating on top. Unfortunately, 2009 has become very rare, but it's worth getting if you can find it. While I haven't seen it at too many online retailers these days, it will occasionally pop up on eBay. An excellent addition to the summer wardrobe, this is certainly Issey Miyake's BEST SUMMER MEN'S FLANKER and is recommended as a blind buy. Thumbs up, 9/10. I agree with the rest of the panel. If you don't like the overall sharpness of the original, try this (though it might be difficult to "try" as it's hard to find samples of it). The scent stays quite linear throughout with citrus and green notes. Both are very forward, dominating notes, but here, the two groups are bridged with a fresh soapy aspect which I'm guess is from the floral accords. This scent reminds me of cool breeze carrying scent of tender leaves in the spring. If citrus scent provides refreshing sensation, this gives clean, just out of a cool shower feeling. Like comforting cool smell of Irish Spring. The scent isn't similar to Irish Spring but provides similar ambience. Another comparison I can make is... to me, it smells like younger somewhat sharper citrus version of Green Irish Tweed. Unfortunately, scent doesn't last much on me. The scent stays on me for 5 hours and when the main body goes away I get musk smell similar to Millisime Imperial and GIT, though the other two lasts longer on me. Overall, this is a wonderful clean scent for a warm spring and summer. After days of using this, I'm having hard time readjusting to warm/cloying scent I used to love.

Not to reveal my time in fragcom too much, but I got this for retail the week robes08 released the initial video hyping this to the moon. It's a really good summer frag and I love wearing it, but you should not spend more than $100/bottle for this. It does have eternal longevity and a really pleasant yuzu note, but it's nothing you should put yourself through serious effort to get. There are surely comparable offerings now in the same vein that would serve you just as well. I will say that it is really similar to acqua di gio but without the heavy musk. Honestly it smells like a light version of the classic issey miyake EdT if you went light on the sprayer. So just buy the original and go lighter on the sprays. The EdT has a sourness that this flanker doesn't, but it's not that amazing. I doubt anyone besides you sniffing your arm will ever be able to discern them.

I went through three bottles of this fragrance the summer of 09' when this masterpiece debuted. Yes, it's legendary, lives up to the hype, and is as amazing as people claim it to be. I can still smell it in my mind. This scent perfectly encapsulated what it meant to be young, fit, and masculine while heading to the pool to pick up some babes with Ray-Bans and a backwards hat on...not cocky, just cool, young, and confident. Of course the DNA and foundation of this scent is L'eau Dissey, but with less sharpness and citrus on the opening and with a coolness that is similar to jumping in a cool pool (not cold) on a not-too-hot summer's day. Would I pay $1,000 for a bottle on eBay? YES! This was and always will be a legend in my opinion, RIP L'eau d'Issey Eau D'Ete Summer Edition for Men Issey Miyake.

This review is for the 2009 version, which is different from the others. This an excellent summer fragrance. A watery citrus-floral with a slightly herbal quality and nothing of the harsh, abrasive quality inherent in the original L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. Cool and refreshing through and through, Summer Edition 2009 has an exceptional sillage which radiates powerfully while maintaining something of a liquid, transparent nature. Everything comes together for 2009 around the 30 minute mark, wherein it becomes one of the best warm weather fragrances I have experienced. It has very good longevity and is appropriate for casual or formal situations. Highly recommended!

heard about this from marc(robes08) in his youtube channel. i discovered it in one of the discounters here in our country. IMHO, this summer edition is the best from the Miyake house. it is alot better than the original. the eau d'ete version has a softer opening and develops smoothly into a floral-woody scent on drydown.the longevity is above average on my skin as it lasts anywhere from 6-9 hours. for fear of losing this gem, i have grabbed a back up bottle of this for posterity's sake. when i finish both bottles, this will just remain as a sweet moment in my scent memory.

And there goes the last of my juice. Hits the perfect "Issey Summer" note. Perfect mixture of yuzu, mandarin, and musk and non-pareil in the heat of summer and . 4 hours projection which is perfectly acceptable to me. Sad to see its gone from my collection and from production. Wonder if the blue bottle is close enough for my purposes.Looking at the notes I don't see how it can be.

I have many of the Issey Miyakes for men and they are all beautiful in there own way. 2009 is smoother than the original. Smell fades away fairly easy after an hour. Seems to last longer when sprayed on my clothing. I personally like the 2013 summer a little more. If your an Issey Miyake fan then surly you must add this to your.

So funny again I agree with other user and not going to repeat the same Review... Oriental clean fresh bla bla bla I liked but didnt hit my gut But the ladyes at work and in elevator cant help telling me how good i smell and ask me what im wearing. Must try for yourself on your skin

Sensational scent. Maybe the ultimate summer Miyake, but because this is hard to find and therefore expensive, combined with the short longevity and moderate sillage I am going to have to pass spending the $90 price tag on the bottle I was able to find.

I agree whole heartedly with alot of the others.....I agree,but if the original is not your thing, then get this, smells just like the original, very nice in spring/summer scent, stock up and rejoice

Love this! More light and sweet than the original, the Tangerine and Yzu stay for a long time, and in the dry sandal saffron and coriander rock the show, love so much, my number 1 citrus fragance!

A scaled down version on the original and a bit more floral, but still very fresh and "clean" smell. lovely

Beast mode - Best summer Issey I own

★★★★★ There was originally a different review of mine about this scent, and I completely erased it. I had to go through a whole bottle to figure out this version of L'Eau D 'Issey, and I'm glad I did. I tend to have a strong connection with Japanese culture. I appreciate Japanese minimalism, serenity and discipline. This scent is one of the scents that makes me thing of Japan (along with the original Kenzo Pour Homme) The difference between this particular summer version and the original is the focal point of the composition. The original is more citrusy, while this has a wet floral character which is both refreshing and modern. The transparency of the bottle emphasizes its minimalistic nature as the fragrance is rather simple and doesn't evolve in its whole lifespan. Compared to other summer editions, this is by far the most unique that never ends up smelling exactly like the original in the dry down due to that "wet lotus flower" impression. An interesting remark is that it reminds me of Aqua Celestia Forte by MFK because of that wet floral vibe, which -needless to say- is a remarkable fragrance as well. It is obviously advertised for summer, but in colder weather I got better longevity and sillage (8 hours on skin, more on clothing) This 2009 version is a modern, urban and refreshing surprise of gender fluidity. It so modern it could be a less eccentric CdG creation. My bottle surprised me, starting me with dullness and leaving utterly excited in the end. A wonderful Japanese journey just from a glass bottle.

I bought this years ago at robes08’s recommendation and thought it smelled way too similar to Aqcua Di Gio and didn’t last nearly as long. Though it initially seemed like a waste of money, its grown on me over time. The yuzu is an uncommon citrus note, and the fragrance has a light, sticky sweetness that smells like a bright sunny morning. Now, the scent strikes me so different from ADG that it doesn’t occur to me to compare them. The 2009 Edition has a great sense of how summer fragrances should wear; fresh, bright, and then exit stage left. A great vacation wear for tropical locales and a great way to accentuate the occasionally perfect midwestern summer day.

Beginning is d same as d original, at least i feel it. but within 5-7 mins it turns floral, but i must say its really fresh. Frankly speaking i don't like floralaqua fragrances so on the 1'st day i had a bit of head ace but s i started wearing it i have started liking it. But for my next summer i'll go for d original, but that doesn't at all mean this is bad, its just that d original is better, actually ORIGINAL IS D BEST.

I smelt this today and it's an ok scent! Smells exactly like the origional, but more zesty and uplifting. It's a lot more wearable than the origional as well. When it drys down its very floral. I like it but i dont see myself wearing it too much.

Good and long lasting smell...It is a toned down Original Issey but yeah, as many have said, lacks the sharp note in it...How I wish Issey add some fruits into their summer lines? And tone down the flowery smell....

If you don't like the original give this a try. I know that it is a summer fragrance but I think it can be pulled off all year around. Now you maybe won't get much out of it in the colder months unless someone is hugging you; however, the smell can be pulled off. Now on to the fragrance. You get a blast of sweet citrus notes and then maybe 35-45 minutes later (maybe earlier) the florals kick in and my fried you are left with a sweetish, powerdery floral masculine scent (though may be wearable for a woman, just not really feminine like I want a woman to smell). I don't own a lot of fragrances but from what I have heard I will give this an 8 for projection and silage (maybe more if you are outside, I have only worn it inside) and a 10 for longevity. It lasts until you are finish with it. Overall I would have to say for a summer fragrance that was created for summer 10 out of 10. It does everything is is marketed to do. And can be a viable substitute for the original.

I am a big fan of Issey Miyake's fragrances and this is no exception. EAU D' ETE SUMMER is a fresher, more versatile fragrance than the original. While the original is heavier and stronger, this summer version is lighter and easier to wear. Perfect for Spring and Summer weather. This summer version by being more casual fits most occasions. I will describe this scent as a cocktail of flowers and citrus. In my opinion, any age group can wear this fragrance but since is mostly floral and citrus, it appeals most to 35 and under crowd. This summer version does not have the lasting power and silage of the original but still offers very good projection and longevity. If the original is too much for you or not your type, try this one and you will be surprised by this modern, fresher version. This is in the AquaFloral category, a little bit of Kenzo Pour Homme just younger.

Very similar to the original but a little lighter, freshers and slightly more sweet. IMO it is much more wearable than the original. I don't get much of the florals others are talking about unfortunately. The original tends to turn a little sickly sour on me like overly ripe citrus when the weather begins to hit high heat here in California. I have to agree with the others who say this is better then the original. It pretty much feels like the original just fine tuned a little.

I had three bottles, cellophaned, brand new in box... purchased them @ 100.00 a piece on ebay in 2017-18. I knew they were rare, but I see them going for as much as $1000.00 on ebay now, I sold one for 200$ because I needed the money. 2008 and 2010 sell for nothing, under 100$. I'm wondering why the prices for this year are so high and am hoping somebody who reads this knows and contacts me. TY.

Had the chance of buying it for retail price back in 2009 when I was in High School...and now they’re asking almost $1000 usd for a bottle lol. Really good summer scent and one of the best flankers from Issey but’s definitely not worth those insane prices.

Is it the same fragrance as Eau d'Ete 2005 ? I compared noted and it's just a wee bit different, wondering if somebody tried both of them, because I'm in love with 2005 edition, but cannot find it anywhere.

One of the Best Designer Summer Fragrance. Must Buy. Better than the original. The yu-zu is better blended into the scent. Great for Hot climates (Dry) like Arizona or New Mexico.

Easier and organic touch to the classic issey. To me is just a nice aromatic-citrus-herbal fragance, comfortable to wear and easy to enjoy.. but i choose others for warm days.

Overly hyped by robes08, probably because it's discontinued. The original is much better. As others have indicated it's a watered down version of the original beast. Pass.

literally smells like marijuana, but mostly only when you put your nose right up to your skin. and I love it. otherwise it's very light and smells delicious.

HARD AS EVER TO FIND BUT WITH IT ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMERTIME, LOVE THIS STUFF. THE YUZU IN THIS REALLY STANDS OUT.

I want to buy it but its unavailable in India. Wish somebody could send me from aboard.

I will forever have this on my sample wish-list. That bottle is 10/10.
