L'Eau Majeure d'Issey

I get fresh - aquatic (slightly) - aromatic - sour/sharp/incense/.....cashmere/musk......ish......? Can't put my finger on what it is but there's a very different edge to this frag which really works and intrigues me to the point I really do find it quite addictive and when wearing it find myself repeatedly sniffing it, enjoying it. I get and understand the negative reviews and can smell the aspects that really don't work for some reviewers but then isn't this testament to why Frags and Smellies are of interest to us, they're evocative and personal, working for some and not others? We all like the individual/identity element to frags. I expect the first smell is going to be like 'first impressions last' but if you've sprayed on your skin do give it time and I mean like probably a good 2 hours or so to mellow down and see what you think. It is VERY different to the opening and there is a transformation going on I haven't experienced before to the same degree as with this one. Life-span wise it's mega and outlasts anything I own. The legs on this one seriously are detectable 2-3 days after (2 or 3 sprays on the wrist) even after showering and swimming. On my clothes I get the memory of this 3-4 days later! In both cases not the full complex scent but the slightly sweet/sharp/incense base. It's not going to work for everyone but at the moment I like it - lots. Different, fresh and amazing value for money.

This is a gorgeous new scent. At first all I picked up were the salty aquatic notes. Power water is right. I didnt even notice the top notes (grapefruit) until it was explained to me later on. I love the salty aquatic woody notes along with the cashmeran musk. And besides, how often do you get to say "salty wood" throughout your day? You can't spend every day on Grindr or Tynder. This is a versatile combination ;) and it has that same "Issey" note that many of his other scents have from decades past. It is like the 90's have come back, but in a modern way. In a way minimalism is modern to me, but in a different way now. Having said all that, there is something about this fragrance that takes me back to my childhood in elementary school. The smell of glue stick, or the creamy kind of glue. There is something abstract about this scent, and it is an afterthought (afternote?), that reminds me of the smell of GLUE! And I love it. Except this time it WON'T cause brain damage. Too late?

I love this fragrance. Some hate it, some love it. At first smell, I was like “I really just wasted money and waited a week for this?” Then I sprayed my arm the next day and I was in love. I think it’s because I’ve been wearing Moustache EDP, D&G The One and Prada LR Black all winter, and this was the first “summer” fragrance I’ve ordered in months. There’s no need for me to give you a fairytale about the different notes, but this is a superb summer fragrance. Longevity and sillage is over the top in a good way, and I’ve gotten compliments on the first day of wearing it to work. One coworker asked me “Bro, you spray the whole bottle?” I said “nope, just four sprays.” So, that tells you about the performance. It smells good, and I wouldn’t consider this a “basic” fragrance, because I personally haven’t smelt anything that smells like this one. All in all, it’s amazing in its own earthy, blue, mall fragrance kind of way.

A light, refreshing aquatic fragrance with water (not particularly sea water, more of a fresh water) and nice light wood notes at the base. The tea note really stands out and makes this one unique, it's definitely a green tea leaf smell in the middle. The bergamot and grapefruit are also in the middle and are not acidic smelling at all, they add a very nice roundness. Mint is on the top, fresh and clean. The leafy green tea and mint notes make it perfect for a spring day, rainy or sunny. Lasts long, projects well and you can find a 5oz bottle for under 50 bucks. Good value, great scent and is unique enough that I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for this one. 9.3/10

This was the first scent I bought for my self. Many people aren't fans of the rough metallic cashmere opening but I love it. It has gotten me quite a few compliments. In the dry down, it's mostly cashmere with a hint of tea or mint on my skin which adds a softness to it. It was my signature through out college and I love it. I tried the intense version but to me it had more of the salty sea note and it was rougher. Plus, projection on this one was better than the intense one on me. This frag is most definitely one of the scents that will stay in my collection for a long time.

A big thing from Issey. If you asked me how the Issey should smell in 2017 I would answer: Like this! I agree with those who compare L'Eau Majeure with Invictus, but Invictus is just 20% of the scent that gives it modern structure. Majeure is no way an Invictus clone. Moreover, it's not a clone of something and that's why I made it a part of my collection. Metallic, with some floral nuances, with a big ambergris part and a huge amount of salty molecules. Not sweet at all. High quality, modern but still a very Miyake style. Another gorgeous creature of Aurelien Guichard.

An awesome, wonderful one of a kind cologne. Issey, in my opinion, has the best colognes. Issey Pour Homme, Summer, L'Blue and this. This one is the strongest, most male, spicey and deep smell. It's similar to Mocschino Forever but deeper. Good for cold weather and over a leather or wool jacket. The kind of scent people ask you what you're wearing, that kind of smell. A sure favorite, although this one makes me sick if I spray too much of it, not a good sign of whats in it to make it smell so good.

I am not a freshie fan so when Spring starts coming round I usually am filled dread of all the light blue bottles of meh that are due to be pushed upon us. But this is different starts with the usual freshness but then this is backed up with a clean fabric smell, that just lasts and lasts. Perfect office gear for the warmer months. Nowt ground breaking but as this was picked up in TK Maxx for £18 for a 50ml gift set (100 ml shower get too)I am very happy.

This is extraordinarily nice, perfect for a hot Summer day. I love the aquatic, woody vibe, it has the freshness of the original, but so much more, it's a pretty complex fragrance, but oozes quality. The lime comes through on my skin, and works well with the woody notes. I don't get why there are so many negative reviews, this is nothing like invictus, it has so much more going on. One of the best from this house.

I found this at my local perfumery today, not having the highest of expectations this one just blew me away, the initial blast is so good i was almost shocked, it smells like drinking a fresh summer drink watching a beautiful sundown in paradise, thats what it smells like, to be fair it s not a whole new scent, it actually smells a bit like D&G light blue only better, im buying the largest bottle for sure. .

Well since I'm into this hobby to have an absolute great time, one of the things that draws me pleasure is blind buying - the wait, the anticipation and the mystery makes it all so pleasurable. With that said, this is a fantastic fragrance, fresh, woody, salty and loooooooooong lasting. Update: What a gem this fragrance is, something about the dry-down is reminiscent of Baccarat Rouge 540.

This one smell like you just come out from a swimming pool, imagine yourself on holiday, perfect for office and summer scent. Edit: I had wear this at work few times now and guys this is just beautiful so fresh and clean, fills the room with great projection and longevity, I think I will order a scd bottle just in case. 5/5 from me great job Issey Miyake.

The hate on this fragrance is unjustified, I live in a tropical country where the temperature is almost always above 30 degree celsius, And it smells like cool, minty & sophisticated sea breeze in high heat. However whenever it gets cold here the fragrance strarts to smell like a men's urinal. NOTE: ONLY FOR HIGH HEAT DONT WEAR IT IN THE WINTER

this was a blind buy ,30 ml EDT ...man do I fucking adore it ,maybe it's the sea notes colliding with that hedione or idk what builds up that makes this absolute magical summer scent...longevity pulls an all day ,sillage is 2-3 feet . A genuine gem .

Great fragrance. It's just different, and I like that. Good performance, unlike the myriad summer iterations on offer anually from this house. Surprised the new Super Majeure isn't on here yet, but I'd probably buy that too.

LOVE THIS JUICE. I see this it's getting a lot of negative feedback I'm not sure why. It smells like 2016 Invictus Aqua minus the Invictus. Longevity and projection are beast for a summer frag. My new summer signature.

Since I bought this I get nothing but compliments longevity is almost 12 hours on my clothes with projection off the charts

To my nose is in the same vein as Invictus, fresh, masculine, delicious. Cant stop smeling my husband.

Imagine an evening sitting on a deck overlooking the beach. The sky is overcast and the sun hasn't quite set. There's some driftwood from the shore burning in the fire pit and you're sipping black tea with lemon or bergamot. The sharpness of the citrus and tea give way to the sound of waves and smell of salty air, and finally to the smoky woods in the fire. As the sun goes down, someone starts roasting marshmallows over the fire adding a somewhat dissonant sweetness to it all. I get some rosemary in the opening at times that isn't listed (it is in the Super flanker), but mostly a clary sage and citrus which make for an interesting marine accord. It's not too far from Kenzo pour Homme or Lapidus Sport, if you know those openings. The cashmeran comes in and it eventually dries to a sweet, somewhat nutty accord while keeping the sea notes as well. It's interesting, which is to say it might not be for everyone. The Super version is a bit on the safer side. It's more intense, but a bit less overtly synthetic with more sweetness and less discord. It's not as challenging but as a result feels a little familiar and loses some of the uniqueness. I tend to like aromatic over sweet so it doesn't do quite as much for me as the regular version. I really respect Majeure d'Issey from a creative standpoint and it's not quite like anything else in my collection. Some moments that's for the best, and others not so much, but overall it's a nice one to have. It's a solid like, but it sort of depends on the day and mood I'm in.

Quite an underrated fragrance in my opinion, perhaps other people had a similar initial impression as I did, I found it almost repulsive on first sniff, not that it was horrible, just different from what I had expected! Although they are worlds apart I find that Eau Majeure is kind of like a conceptual olfactive art piece in a similar way to Lalique's Encre Noire but this time the theme is sea water! But this is no typical turquoise blue vacation/beach scent! The more this dried down I found it increasingly addictive, I was compelled to keep on sniffing it, it's strange because on the face of it the scent seems so simple but it definitely has some magic elements in it that will pull you in like a siren dragging a fisherman under the ocean waves! I'm still undecided on purchasing a full bottle, even though I do wear fragrances for myself first and foremost, I find that perhaps this isn't very versatile and is definitely an acquired taste. Great for sitting down and contemplating, day dreaming, creating, losing yourself in a good book or film (sea adventures perhaps), rather than for a fun night out with others. This is more the west coast of Ireland watching huge waves roll in to batter the green coast, smashing against black rocks in an autumnal shroud of dark cloud than the sun beating beating down on France's Cote d'Azur in the summer time. I'd love to try the 'Super' flanker but can't find it in stores, hmm, maybe it's worth a blind buy if it's anything like this one...

I love Issey Miyake as a fragrance house, I have many of their best releases in my collection. I had never smelled this before and saw a 15ml travel spray on eBay for about $12 and figured "why not?" I received it a couple of months ago and figured I could use this on an upcoming trip to Miami. I tried to not set any expectations and keep an open mind. I gave it a few sprays in my car on the night it arrived: a cold December night. I could detect many familiar notes from previous LDPH release, although it was so frigid out that I couldn't really get a full grasp on the experience. A few weeks later I tried again inside my house where it was very warm and oooh maaaan, this stuff is absolutely awful. This what I'd call a disjointed floral mess! It's like they took only the absolute worst parts of the original L'eau D'issey Pour Homme (along with several flankers) and combined them in completely unbalanced concentrations. Longevity is way too long. I had to scrub this off! It was a very unpleasant experience and I mothballed it into my storage unit. I have been trying to hold my tongue on this one and gather my thoughts about the experience; I consider myself to be somewhat of an ambassador for the brand's fragrances. I have been utterly disappointed (bordering on distressed) with this release. I may try it again come warmer months, but I really can't see my opinion changing too much. 2/10

So on paper, this bore more resemblance to Bvlgari fragrances than Issey. Specifically, the Pour Homme line tea reference was so apparent. I was excited...Issey Miyake has done wonders for me in the past. On skin, this was an obvious flanker to L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme, I kept waiting for the tea note and it never came. Citrus aquatic to its roots with the expected floral undertone that made the original a little more adventurous than other offerings in the same genre. Fast forward and we also catch reference to the intense version however wth incense dropped out and some mint and soft and sweet woods instead. Beautiful and more masculine at the same time. Well rounded, this could be a great everyday signature. Performs well in cool weather too. Price online is really good if you're in the market for something sweet and woody. I'd say if you have Bvlgari Atlantique or AdG Profondo, you may be underwhelmed by this because it's less salty/eggy/mineralic. I would choose this over Profondo but not over Atlantique if I had to rank them. This performs just as well on my skin and clothes too, detectable for 6 hours, with great projection for the first two almost. (But not as nuclear on me as the original, L'eau Bleu, nor the intense). Very nice work

I wanted to write an updated review, you can see my original down below. I tried this again a year later, I don't know if my nose has changed or the fragrance has changed. I read recent reviews on this claiming you had to wait for the drydown to kick in and I'm glad I held onto it. I sprayed this on today and was created with those same florals that drove me crazy initially. Smells like florals from the start of L'eau D'issey PH EDT Fraîche amped way up. There was marine note too but something sweet and satisfying underneath. I was walking through the grocery store about 15 minutes later and I started getting these pleasant wafts to my nose. It couldn't be me, could it? It started smelling better and better. One hour later and this fragrance had completely changed! It was a sweet tonka, with light florals and a mild spice to it. It honestly reminds me of an marine twist on YSL Y Le Parfum 2021 once it fully dries down. I put on another spray multiple hours later and I'm barely even detecting the florals on my skin, even freshly sprayed from the atomizer. I'm going to be spending more time with it in the coming days and giving a revised review. What a 180!

After using it intensively, I think that I can make a more precise summary of this proposal: This is a fresh fragrance clearly reminiscent of the sea breeze; think about being on board a yacht, gently swaying in the waves... That's the idea. In addition, there is a charming grapefruit "floating in the breeze" and leading us through the marine olfactory experience. It has some synthetic notes, but it must also be said that they're of great quality and smell wonderful. Its flanker - "L'Eau Super Majeure d'Issey" - is very similar, but more woody and intense. Instead, this one is better for hotter days. - Longevity: +/- 8h. -Projection & Sillage: Good. It'll be noticed, but it won't bother. - Mood: Refreshing, relaxing and revitalizing. - Scenario & Lifestyle: Excellent for hot days (office & outings); it's one of the best I've found for that (but for not-so-warm days I slightly prefer "L'Eau Super Majeure d'Issey"). Conclusion: A fresh, modern and addictive scent. It's cool and appealing... But sophisticated: There's no "generic sugary potion" here. A great aquatic fragrance. I love it.

At first I didn't like it as I am not the aqua type and it smelled like one of a 1000. But during the first two hours it evolved into something really nice. The salty note got my attention. It's fresh, blue, transparant and salty. Like an ocean breeze. I was raised near the coast so I've always loved the salty air. In the drydown Majeure becomes woody, but still "transparant". It def has the Issey Miyake signature. Where Pour Homme is a diffuse transparant citrus, Majeure is a diffuse transparant salty marine scent with a silky-woody base. It's a fresh white-shirt-on-a-warm-day-scent. Beautiful! It does come off a bit synthetic. I bought a bottle on Notino and to my surprise the opening smelled like manure!! Really off-putting! I've read other reviewers on here mentioning urine. I returned it and I got a newer batch. This one doesn't have the nasty bitter note. My batch that smells good: 8239PM. Nasty batch: 7205DM Projection: it's a powerhouse! 9/10 Sillage: same story! 9/10 Longevity: easily 8 hours on my skin! 8/10 Blend: 7/10

با مُرکبات و نعنا باز میشه مُرکبات تُرش و شیرین که در شروع تُرشی قوی تری داره در کنار یک نعنای تازه و منتولی که بینی رو خنک می کنه به مشام می‌رسه ترشی مرکبات زودی از بین میره و بیشتر سمت شیرینی میره روایح دریایی خیلی زود دست به کار میشن و با حالات آروماتیک،سبز و کمی نمکی ؛حال و هوای دریا رو یادآور میشن چای به نظرم نقش موثری در غرق نشدن رایحه در اعماق دریا رو داره و اون رو از جلبکی شدن و شوره بستن دور می کنه انگار یک سبزیِ تازه و لطیف ای به کار می بخشه که خواستنی تر اش می کنه شیرینی خفیف اما قشنگ ای هم لا به لای روایح دریای و آروماتیک جولان میده به نظرم شباهت ای به مگاماره نداره اما در قیاس با هم، سه هیچ مگاماره رو می زنه و فقط در پرفورمنس ازش کمی پایین تره که باز هم قابل قبول و کافیه بهار و پاییز خیلی جوابه ************* scent:8/10 longevity:9/10 sillage:9/10 purchase value:6/10 ******* overall:8/10

I’ve smelled l’eau d’issey (even though i don’t currently own it) and while i’ll say this isn’t quite as good as LDI, it’s still a good fragrance IMO. I’m not getting that prominent urine smell that most people seem to be picking up on but maybe my skin is just too goated. It’s fresh, citrusy and I definitely pick up on that tea note which gives it a sort of vintage-y fragrance vibe. Overall, I wouldn’t exactly recommend anyone to blind buy this but don’t be afraid of it because of what other people are saying, it’s a good option for warmer weather and a nice clean masculine scent!

L'Eau Majeure d'Issey is a fruity, aquatic and woody fragrance. The output is fruity-citric, sweet and not as refreshing as I expected, because a kind of amber and marine notes are also perceived. Drying is woody and pleasant. I consider it versatile and good for spring and summer, too is wearable to casual outgoings. Its longevity was very good on me, at least 10 hrs. with a noticeable sillage in the first two hours. This fragrance seems to me to be in the style of Azzaro Wanted, Kenzo Pour Homme EDP, each with its own particularities, but in a very similar style.

It's a very risky blind buy, but I think it's one of the most interesting smelling scents out there and is quite unique. It smells very clean but not necessarily fresh, and makes for an excellent year-round office fragrance, especially with a suit. It smells very 'Japanese' and business-like to me, and I can imagine a typical grey suited Japanese "Salary Man" wearing it automatically to fit in with their corporate world. However, high heat blunts its performance significantly.

I have to agree with some of the points people have made about it being a typical 'current smell' but it's still a nice scent and its better than a lot of the other synthetic sickly aquatics on the market I.e Invictus. To me though you can still detect the Issey miyake dna and its one of those refreshing juices that just flows the moment it hits your skin. It evokes tropical water very well, great for a hot summers day and good longevity for once. 7.7/10

Issey Miyake knocked it out of the park w this one. The tea note is something to behold, every other notes seem to dance around it to provide you a very smooth and somewhat salty journey. Yes, it is not the most unique scent in the world, but at the same token the familiarity makes me enjoy it the most. Performance is good; 8 hours of longevity w a pretty strong projection. All in all, this scent is very pleasant in almost every aspect imaginable.

6/10 A very elegant offering and I can't find a single thing polarizing about it. Will work in casual or work environments. Looking forward to giving a few full wears to fully evaluate, but the Issey house is rising up my ranks. Update: fantastic scent but requires heavy application and still only lasts for 2-3 hours. Maybe that's what the Super Majeure is for. One or two points deducted because of longevity and performance.

I honestly really like this. I find the marine elements and “sea notes” to be very realistic and gives of the vibes of a misty beach on an overcast day. I also slightly pick up on the tea notes in this and I like how they help to add a more green element to this otherwise very aquatic and metallic fragrance. I think the overall realism of the sea notes in this is what makes it so polarizing and difficult to wear.

I find this to be a pleasant scent. I get the ocean vibe though it's not a salty one but more of a smooth velvety one found in Salina by Laboratorio Olfattivo. If anyone has ever smelled that one, you would understand. I blind bought this one and I wouldn't say that I regret it but if I had smelled it before, I would probably not have bought it. Not because it's bad, but because it's not that great either. 6.5/10

Few seconds of opening kinda remind me of CK-Man. Than it develops quite similar like the tag it bears, salty wood. Lil bit generic yes, but I think this is one of those "can't go wrong" fragrance as well. Inoffensive with good sillage and good longevity. Drydown is very very similiar to L'eau D'Issey Intense (got that incense/smokey vibe). Work better with 30+ yrs old man. Overall score from me 7/10

Gets waaay better after a few years in the bottle. I could only usually wear this when heading off somewhere knowing I wasn't going to be around anyone. I kinda liked it still, but knew it was quite bitter and polarising. It's opened up beautifully now. Lovely green, citrus, tea, ozone and salty. Really stunning. But unfortunately takes years of masterbation...

This is a saltier version of Burberry Brit Rhythm Intense..same perfume in the sense of scent with touch of sea salt note. With that said, its now more Summer friendly than just a night/winter perfume.. can be a lil nauseated if too much - let it linger dont be generous with this and ull do fine

I like this one perfect for this Jamaican weather, wondering I should add it to the arsenal, and boy is it HOT out here this summer.💦 Longevity seem good had it on from 11:00am one pray on my hand and wash hands a few times today and still smelling it 👍.

i seem to be going nose blind after half an hr i don't smell anything, but people saying i smell nice, the next day it is so strong on my shirt, puzzled.

Tried this one at a perfume shop and bought it because I found a nice scent. Nothing wrong with that, it's fresh and salty. Good longevity. Safe buy.

issey takes on invictus aqua, dylan blue and others in this vibe i like it

Now that the heat is ramping up I have to opportunity to put this fragrance through it's paces. I appreciate the original L'eau d'Issey for it's yuzu top and freshness, but haven't been a fan because of it's short life on me. L'eau Majeure takes care of that with the addition of cashmeran and woods. The fragrance opens with that bright citrus and grapefruit but then rests on those basenotes that can stay with me for 4 or 5 hours+. The marine notes and sea feeling are there and show up for me as a slightly metallic chill in the scent. This is a more substantial marine/aquatic than others, a la Aqva Amara. And BTW I love Aqva Amara. It's remarkable how differently a scent can perform depending on the weather. I originally tested this in the winter when I bought it and was hopeful but experienced a very different fragrance. With the heat this fragrance is lovely. So, I vote yes. I like this frag a lot and am glad that I purchased a bottle of it.

Really didn't gel with my taste. Blind buy. Not my cup of tea - too simplistic - acidic lemony taste. Could come through as Niche. Not Main stream. I'm a Gentlemen - middle aged - predominantly in an executive office environment wearing suits and representing with many official gatherings.

Yep, a lighter version of the original. Far less performance than the original, doesn ́t have the sillage, the presence or the monster longevity. Many resemblances to L'Eau d'Issey, minus the citrus/lemon scent. The dna is there, but it lacks something. The original, although i ́m bit fed up of how strong it is, is far better. If you like people to know you ́re there, try the original. If u don ́t try this instead. It ́s just ok, nothing special, nothing that makes me buy a 2nd time.

Blind bought it at TK Maxx. For that discounted price, it's okay, but I don't love it. Minty, metallic and woody. At first sniff I was disappointed, but after using it a few times I've grown to like it. Wait for it to dry down and it'll become a pretty good and unique scent. I am not a fan of this type of fragrances, but I'll wear it as it's masculine and kind of unique. My favourite thing about it is the quality, heavy bottle with the metallic cap. 6/10

This scent is strangely enveloping, just like an Issey Miyake coat, the fabric overwhelming in it's comfort. L'Eau Majeure drowns you after a squeeze of grapefruit to clarify the water, and a sprig of mint to make it even fresher. At the bottom is a shipwreck--sea eroded pine beams--in the softest sand. Trendy but fun.

A fresher, watery take of the original. Very nice, very clean. Nothing woody, just more blue and marine, i guess. Not so "intoxicating" like the orginal, but just as good. I think if u have one don ́t need to have the other, as they are very similar. Still trying to figure out the longevity and projection. Go!

Firstly longevity and projection are awesome. 8 hrs plus on the skin and more on clothes. It fills up the room. The scent is very linear, very very synthetic and musky. Do not blind buy this fragrance. It takes a while to grow on you and im not sure if i like it or not. This is my first issey miyake.

Bought this blind. Would I do that again? Probably not. However, it’s easy to wear at the gym or on hot rainy days
