Lumière d’Issey

Similar to Prada’s Paradoxe, but nonetheless beautiful. For neroli/orange blossoms/freesia fans, this is a safe blind buy in my opinion. It’s very airy, white floral dominant, clean musk with a hint of woods, very faint though on the woods. I loved the shape of the bottle it looks elegant and classy, different from most designers bottles nowadays, but it think it is made of plastic. At least the lid is plastic for sure, which cheapens the experience and the way I view this perfume. For some people it’s just the perfume that matters, I care about the presentation and packaging when I decide whether to buy or pass on a product. Lumiere d’Issey it’s a through and through spring and summer season fragrance. It’s moderate in longevity and low in sillage. I would like a bottle of this in the future, maybe for next spring, but only once the price drops from what’s sold for currently. Very nice and mass appealing but nothing new. And if you have the OG Prada, you definitely don’t need Lumiere d’Issey. Or if you own several sheer, light orange blossoms centric fragrances, you have the same DNA as in this most likely. Nice but redundant for me!

Opens quite solar with a bright citrus note from green mandarin. As it dried down the florals (orange blossom & freesia) & white musk took center stage over a creamy base of sandalwood. I found it delightful. It maintained a bright character throughout the wear while teasing a light amber element. This is a fun wear. It is not overcomplicated, and also not over-priced. I suspect most people will miss it entirely in the deluge of new fragrance releases this spring many of which seem to focus on sugary candy.

I usually gravitate toward (winter) beast-mode fragrances with cloying tendencies, but I’ve been searching for something more versatile, like an all-round scent for any occasion that smells amazing without being overpowering for the warmer months. I got a tester of this one, and I’m glad I did because it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. It could make a great signature scent if that’s what you’re after. I’m getting the biggest bottle, that's for sure.

I just received it from France today , and I love it..it has been a long time since a perfume has made me think what a quality fragrance, with personality, it is a fresh floral, with a warm undertone..I just tried it once, so might change my review, but I will definitely buy it again..it smells pretty, feminine, the pistachio gives it a unique vibe...great perfume, great designer..I love Libre, this isn’t like it, even less like Paradoxe..

This fragrance is delicious. I love wearing this and yes, it's a sweet fruity floral in the family of prada paradoxe intense or donna born in roma, but a bit more or notched sexy. I love it and people around me like it. If you're looking for musky niche screech, this ain't it!

This perfume is just perfect. It’s what I have been wanting for so long. Please don’t make this limited edition. It’s just lovely and sweet but sophisticated. Thank you Issey Miyake and the perfumers behind this scent. So in love ❤️

Such a beatiful fragnance. And no, it is not like Prada Paradoxe, eather it hve some similar notes. But it is powdery, sparkling, and sweet scent. My favorite these days.

Lumière d’Issey reminds me of Libre Berry Crush, Lady Million, and Prada Paradoxe, but it has a softer personality. Compared with those fragrances, Lumière d’Issey is less sweet than both Libre Berry Crush and Prada Paradoxe, and it is softer and more understated than Lady Million. While Libre Berry Crush leans more sensual, and Lady Million and Prada Paradoxe have a bolder, more dramatic presence, Lumière d’Issey takes a more romantic+elegant direction. The romantic image is not in a youthful or girlish way; instead, it evokes the image of a feminine woman with a graceful, refined style. It feels polished and sophisticated rather than playful or seductive.

Beautifully blended neroli-orange blossom perfume with a creamy pistachio and sandalwood base. It does carry the good old Prada Paradoxe DNA however it is very well blended, and I dare to say that it is better made. The pistachio is not overly nutty, rather creamy, and also luckily doesn't go into the roasted or burnt territory. For me, the longevity is the biggest puzzle: On skin, I feel it is rather weak; but on fabric sometimes it disappears, sometimes it lasts... fragrance reviews on Youtube every week @dianasfragrancecloset

If you have any of these, you probably don’t need this: 1. Prada Paradoxe and its flankers 2. Golden Rule by Phlur 3. Voce Viva and its flankers 4. YSL Libre and its flankers Having said all of that, this is a beautiful neroli/orange blossom scent. Very much in, in terms of scent profile. Very in the moment. The bottle is interesting. It looks like a crystal pillow to me. I would get it but I have all of the above listed releases already so it’s redundant.

Very delicate and feminine do not over spray it's a Mediterranean kinda smell to my nose vacation seductive up close to keep like a secret

Prada paradoxe holds a dear place in my heart, this is much mooore beautiful paradoxe.

When I first saw this bottle, I was so excited by its beautiful and creative design that I couldn’t wait to smell it. Unfortunately, once I did, the fragrance inside such a stunning bottle left me disappointed. I expected something cleaner, airier, and fresher from Issey Miyake. The very first spray gave me exactly that impression. The citrus opening carried an almost icy freshness and reminded me of Bath & Body Works Pure Wonder. That opening was my favorite part of the fragrance. As it developed, the orange blossom became much more prominent, blending with a creamy sweetness and taking over the heart of the composition. That was the point where I started to feel disappointed because it began reminding me of so many other perfumes. Prada Paradoxe, Libre Intense, even Parfums de Marly Athenais... Of course, they are not identical, but they share such a similar DNA and overall scent profile that every time I smelled it, it reminded me of a different fragrance. I genuinely love orange blossom. Fragrances built around this note are often very appealing, but I think it’s time for other scent profiles to be explored as well. Seeing the same structure presented as a “new” perfume with only minor tweaks has started to disappoint me, especially since these aren’t even flankers—they’re completely different perfumes from different brands. I don't want to be misunderstood; my criticism isn't that this fragrance is bad. It's that we've been smelling this scent profile far too often.

Hello madame Lumière d'Issey. I believe we've met before. I remember encountering your particular combination of root beer / white floral /pistachio just about everywhere in the past ten years, from Libre to L'Interdit to Prada Paradoxe, with the only variation being how citrusy you were, or whether your floral section was syrupy (orange blossom) or really syrupy (tuberose). To be fair you have changed your hair and makeup a little: your top notes are more Jour d'Hermès than Elie Saab, and the muscat grape and indole thing you've got going on could be mistaken in passing for Oyédo. But I know a clone when I see one ;) It was great seeing you! We'll meet again in 10 years when a cheapened version of your accord is repurposed into a masculine under the name "Something Something Noir". See you soon!

I had the pleasure of smelling this from our local drugstore. It's a pleasant smell. However, if you are into feminine fragrance I'd say look somewhere else. This reminds me very much of Issey Miyake's Men's fragrance from the 90's in the inverted cone shaped bottle. The neroli, orange blossom, sandalwood and woody notes are a stand out. If they have added more floral notes in here..it would slightly lean more delicate. Don't get me wrong, its woody and fresh. But leans more masculine - younger crowds and maybe someone who really love men's fragrances on them will love this. 100% pass for me.

Personally, I was excited about this perfume from the moment I read the article announcing its release. Based on the olfactory notes, I was sure I would love it, as it included my favorite notes. I was deeply disappointed when I smelled it. It’s nothing new—it’s basically a version of Prada Paradoxe, closer to the Virtual Flower flanker. I was disappointed because brands like Tous, Adolfo Domínguez, and others have already released copies and variations of Paradoxe. I find it lazy and boring. Once it dries down on the skin, it leaves a clean scent, but a rather insignificant one.

The bottle looks absolutely stunning. But the scent felt rather generic and something you everyone smelled before. For me, this is a very safe mainstream/boring floral scent. I did not manage to smell much of the woody notes. Dry down was pleasant. As skin scent, it lasted for 6+hours. This is based on trying once on my skin from the shop tester.

feminine and gentle, very similar to prada paradoxe, voce viva, and other orange blossom/white floral/orange citrus fragrances. pretty and simple, nothing special overall and a safe blind buy. got it as a tester, and wouldn't personally purchase a full size unless heavily on sale.

For some reason this reminded me of chewing gum and candies. It’s maybe a grown up version of Prada Paradoxe

I’m going to be quick as I want this off of my skin asap. Lumiere D’Issey is all of the smells in Sephora or the duty free fragrance section at the airport rolled into one. It’s why you hold your breath as you walk all past places like these. It’s a generic feminine sickly sweet ‘n’ sour screechy floral. It smells pink and adolescently insecure, hyperactive and giggly. It’s like Poison’s pre-teen cringy sister. The “sparkling green mandarin” is so green that it’s ultra acidic and even the “generous musky orange blossom” can’t mellow it out. It’s not about the pistachio unfortunately.

Lovely bottle, annoying unbearable scent for me. I was so looking forward to trying this one, as I like many Issey Miyake scents, and one of my go-to summer perfumes is L'eau d'Issey - fresh, and lovely. But Lumière d’Issey is nothing like this. I was looking forward to the citrus scent, but it does not exist in this perfume. It gives off annoying white flower scent from first spray to hours later. I think it is the Neroli or the white must - but something there is so overwhelming and annoying. This one not for me. I could not wait to wash it off of my wrist.

Another disappointingly generic scent, lazily stitching together the overused accords of modern designer perfumery. It smells exactly like stepping into a duty-free or a crowded fragrance hall—loud, synthetic, and utterly indistinguishable. It will no doubt attract the masses, as that is precisely what it was engineered to do. For anyone with a more discerning nose and familiarity with perfumes, however, it offers nothing but monotony—just another forgettable, soulless composition in an already oversaturated market.

I got a sample In the mail. I immediately sprayed it. Then promptly scrubbed it off. Too cloying, too floral , too sweet , too sickly, no dimension. I think I’ve smelled this a hundred times over under a different name. Nothing different or new. Like every other generic designer brand. I would never want to smell like this.

It's kind of nice out the bottle. Far too strong and persistent on the skin - not a true orange blossom or Neroli to my nose. It actually makes me feel a bit nauseous in how synthetic it seems. I had to shower it off. Really doesn't feel like an Issey frag at all.

I've thought I would love it, expecting a light floral, airy scent, but I was wrong. It's generic and boring, yet strong and nauseating, like artificial sweeteners.

What a boring and uninspired scent. I smelled this combo of neroli + heavy fruity notes surrounded by blond woods so many times before... When I think that Issey Miyake rocked the perfumery in the 90’s with l’eau d’issey and Le Feu, I am sad to see that those creative times are gone :( That Lumière doesn't illuminate much...

I am honestly very surprised by this, because it does not feel like Issey at all. Fragrances from this house are usually recognizable and coherent as a family. There is normally a particular sensibility running through them - airy, watery, transparent, conceptual. I am not sure what kind of endeavor this is, or how it fits under the brand’s creative umbrella. I love the creations from this house. I have owned and tried several, and I keep returning because I want to experience the peculiarities of these scents. That distinctiveness is completely missing in Lumière, however. Is that necessarily a bad thing? Maybe not. But this is a very obvious business move toward a mass-market direction. I have seen many people compare it to Prada Paradoxe, and I agree. It's not just similar in composition, it's similar in energy. I do not like Paradoxe very much - although I somewhat like the Virtual Flower flanker, even if I still would not buy it. For those comparing it to YSL Libre, I also think you have a point, and I do not particularly care for that fragrance either. It is not that these perfumes are bad, they are just really really uninteresting. I am really underwhelmed by this entire concept. The performance is extremely strong, which in this case is rather unfortunate, because my entire apartment now smells like this. It's artificial, nauseating, generic, and uninspired. Sorry, Issey Miyake, but you discontinue the Drop line after only a few years - less than five for the original, much less for the flankers - and then launch this? What exactly is going on?

I'm super excited to announce that I never kept Paradoxe, never slept w Libre, and Voce whatever never made it to my shelves. Aliens were all to soapy, so not much there, and Lady Million can wait. I smelled this at Macy's tonight and hopped on Jomashop and snatched this up in the Macy's parking lot for a third of the price. Didn't this JUST come out??? I went in to see if L'interdit Rouge Elixir was out yet (still no) and fell in love w this instead. It's not as airy as it is "sunny". Sweet sun. That's what I'd call it. And it's SO grounded with the woodiness, and no soap, no jasmine. Thank God. And best, last and not least, NO AMBER. So this wears well. Still going strong. The sweetness has definitely subsided and the woodiness, pistachio and musk are working thier magic. Damn this is good. Not effervescent, no wind, just sweet sunny skin. Don't compare it to anything, and you won't ruin it for yourself. Oh, and no headaches from this one, either. But a cheap lightweight cap that kinda sucks. Anyway, I'm giving this a 9/10

On me, this fragrance has a strong scent of sweet mandarin, which reminds me a bit of New York Fever by Adopt Parfums but i prefer this one over the other. I didn’t think it would be "this" sweet (and when I say sweet, I mean the sweetness of the fruit, It's not too sweet, so it's not cloying), but if I had to describe it visually, it would be very sunny—but at sunset. So it’s a warm yet fruity and elegant fragrance. After a while, you can detect a hint of pistachio, but it’s not overpowering; it complements the mandarin. I’m not sure if it’s the white flowers that give it this quality, but it has a slightly creamy quality to it. It’s not tart at all. Once again, that's how it smells on me. It might smell different on others; certain notes might stand out more on other people.

This one took me by surprise. It’s sweet, floral and has a slight freshness to it. It is similar to paradoxe which I can’t stand, yet I love this. The main difference is that it’s missing the heavy jasmine that paradox has. And I can also see how it’s compared to libre but it doesn’t have the lavender and the white florals don’t feel as heavy. It has the right balance of orange blossom, freesia and mandarin. Where it’s sweet, too floral or powdery.

Love at first sniff for me too!!! This is stunning ...identical to YSL Libre Intense minus the lavender. I’m shocked they are marketing this as a spring/summer scent. It is heavy on the sweetness and thick from the orange blossom. And I’m surprised this doesn’t have vanilla orchid and jasmine sambac as that is mostly what I’m getting and loving!

The bottle is undeniably beautiful and I was expecting something great from Issey Miyake after many years they are launching flankers. But the perfume is just a crap mainstream scent which copying other existing synthetic syrupy scent type. Such a shame with this beautiful bottle and hiring 2 perfumers doesn’t really make something spectacular.

One of the boring fuzzy ones, current generic designer. Paradoxe, Mods, the new Muglers etc etc. Bright soft creamy indistinct n mesmerisingly dull. Another Angels Share style bottle like a bathroom window, which perhaps reflects the lotiony smell. Sooo many scents out there just smelling vaguely of skincare unguents.

Smelt this yesterday and it smellssss sooo good. I’m definitely buying this! So I got this yesterday 30/06 and I’m so happy I bought it. It smells sweet but not sickening or artificially sweet, it gives grown, mature vibes. This can be worn on its own or paired with another fragrance. I’m excited to wear this out.

This is Flash by Jimmy Choo. I sprayed this on a card in the airport and at first I thought it was interesting. Then put the card in my pocket and half an hour later, it’s 100% Flash by Jimmy Choo. I feel like I’m back in 2013. Disappointed.

Wish this would come with a Bao Bao coin zipper purse outer cover that the bottle looks so much like. The scent is sweet and youthful smelling but, like others said, it’s not outstanding in anyway. The bottle, however, is a keeper.

I love this! Sweet, bubblegummy, joyfull. Lovely scent bubble. Very springy. A real burst of happiness. P.S. One week later, this one turns very animalic on me, which I can't do, so, yeah...

Very similar to Prada paradox and all its dupes and similar vibe scents that you smell everywhere. The bottle though...is a 10/10.
