Pleats Please Eau de Parfum 2013

One of Issy Miyake's interesting perfumes features a special glass design with limited production, and although it has been discontinued,it's easily repairable! Violet plays the lead role in this perfume, delivering a bitter and cool powdery scent with sharp acetone-like sweetness. In the initial moments, I detect hints of almond and heliotrope alongside the violet, enhancing the bitter and powdery aspects of the fragrance. This almond-like aroma is intended to evoke the scent of macarons. As time passes, the initial bitterness mellows, and soft floral notes with a rosy sweetness take center stage. This floral-powdery blend, set against a subtle bitter backdrop, eventually settles on a base of patchouli. The sweet and slightly tangy patchouli, with its hints of mint and earthiness, combines harmoniously with other ingredients to create a satisfying finish for this perfume. The overall scent creates an illusion of red grape juice aroma alongside a sharp powdery cosmetic and bitter sensation for me. از عطرهای جالب توجه برند ژاپنی ایسی میاکه با شیشه خاص و زیبا که تولید محدودی داشته و علی رغم رایحه دلپذیرش با کیفیت و ساختار متوسطی که داره فقدانش خللی به دنیای عطر وارد نمیکنه و میشه عطرهایی در فضای مشابه جایگزینش کرد. گل بنفشه رول اول عطره و با بوی تلخ و خنکِ پودری و شیرینیِ تیزِ اَسِتون مانندش فضای عطرو پر کرده. در ساعت های آغازین بویی بادام مانند و هلیوتروپی هم در کنار بنفشه حس میشه که حالت پودری و تلخی عطرو تشدید میکنه. این بوی بادامی و طعم دار قراره رایحه ماکارون رو در عطر بازسازی کنه. به مرور تلخی کذایی کم رمق میشه و نت های لطیف گلی با بوی شیرین و رزی برجسته تر میشن. این ترکیب پودری گلی با پس زمینه تلخ در نهایت روی بیسی پچولی محور جمع میشه. پچولی ترش و شیرین با حس خاکی نعنایی که نت های شیرین و گلی پودری احاطش کردن. کلیت عطر در یک جمله توهم بوی آب انگور قرمز و شیرین کنار یه حس تیز پودری آرایشی و تلخ رو برام ایجاد میکنه.

Clearly violet, but not a shrinking violet. Pleats Please EDP takes the fresh sweet pea and smooth doll-skin vanilla from the original EDT (which I have and love), but replaces the white floral indoles and the nashi pear with macarons and a very extroverted violet. It's not delicately powdery or leafy-sharp like most violets are, but really sweet and with a certain lushness that almost makes it seem fruity. The opening is bubblegum-sweet, and the drydown is still not for the faint of heart, but brings some depth to the sweetness with a clean, rounded patchouli. The macaron note adds some pretty almond powder to it. The whole scent really feels very purple, so the bottle color is perfect. This is a mischievous violet fragrance, something a sassy fairy with glittering wings would smell like. In my opinion it's distantly related to Lolita Lempicka, Ultraviolet and Insolence. I'm not saying these smell the same, they don't, but they all give violet a darker and more playful vibe than usual. I'm not 100% sure if I need this in my collection, as I don't find it very versatile and it's not something I want to smell all the time. The EDT is more wearable. But I love this EDP for its whimsical nature and would certainly keep it if it magically landed in my hands.

I obsessed over this fragrance before purchasing it blind. I am twitterpated with macarons and I find the experience of violet-sniffing to be a worthy pastime. When I learned that 2012 Pleats Please (a summer favorite) had a younger sister that was inspired by simple pleasures and biting into a violet macaron, I knew I had to explore it. Upon first spritz, I could definitely tell that Pleats Please 2013 is the younger, violet sibling of its pink, flowery predecessor. Familiar sweet pea opens up into violets whipped with powdery, nutty ground almonds. The violet dances with patchouli before long, and I do detect a purple smell. I sense a trace of grape: the utmost sophisticated grape you could imagine biting into. It adds a sense of charm to this pretty-smelling perfume. Peony intermingles with patchouli in its dry-down and the crisp, nuttiness of the macaron is warmed by the essence of vanilla. Pleats Please 2013 is my Autumn/Winter scent; I'm so pleased to have found this online after learning it has been discontinued.

I bypassed this fragrance without testing it so many times; the bottle was a peculiar 'squashed' shape and the other Issey Miyake fragrances I had tested were all disappointingly soft and evanescent, so I couldn't imagine it being 'me'. I was so wrong. It was on a super sell-out at the local department store, so I risked a quick spritz, and fell immediately in love. I mainly smell a rich, deep mix of violets and sweet pea, the macaroons I find to be just a slight background sweetness rather than a note in themselves. It is a beautiful rich scent, relatively long lasting and garners me regular compliments, especially from my partner who loves the scent of sweet peas, and thinks this is just delightful.

They don`t sell it anymore and then I am supposed to find something else but that doesn`t exist. When I bought it many years ago, I had to decide and took it. It has been a faithful companion for many years, believe me. The bottle is still there, empty but smiling at me. It ́s a warm perfume, great for autumn and winter, that ́s when I got it, in spring, when it still was cool outside. I wish they would still sell it, but there is no way. The other ones in that kind are not the same for me. It is one of the few I keep in my heart.
