Aura for Women

I'm obsessed with the Y2K packaging!! It just looks so fun and funky. Very much the type of thing I was drawn to in that era as a teenager, but I am enjoying it in 2023 as well. Smells like a tropical Gain fabric detergent. I like it but I can't un-smell that association. Clean, fruity, musky, and a bit sweet and powdery--mimosa stands out and sparkles with the grapefruit. Daytime. This could be worn year-round since its sweet and soft, but I look forward to testing this in the spring and especially summertime, when I suspect I can appreciate it in its full glory! By the way, I bought a 2.5 oz bottle for just $11.48 USD - you really can't complain about this scent for that price (if you like fresh, fruity perfumes!) P.S. I normally dislike freesia- or grapefruit-heavy scents, yet Aura is no problem for me. Do try this if you're curious about a budget-friendly citrus blast from the past!

If you want to enjoy this fragrance, you’ve got to love the smell of grapefruit—even if you’re not keen on the taste. Lucky for me, I’m a huge fan of Pamplemousse by Laurence Dumont! 🍊 With Aura, they’ve kicked it up a notch by including the bitter peel and pith, so don’t expect a sugary-sweet grapefruit here. It’s all about that zesty bitterness! If you find the bitterness a tad overwhelming, just add a spritz of sweet vanilla or coconut to balance it out. Coty Vanilla Musk does wonders! It turns Aura from pleasantly bitter to sweet and scrumptious. 🍰 Wear what you want. No labels needed.

Holy wow. Why is this not more popular? It is clean, fresh musk, mimosa, greenish honeysuckle, and freesia goodness. This absolutely shines in cooler weather, once it dries down. love, Love, LOVE!!!!

The first fifteen minutes of Aura are unpleasant for me. Grapefruit scents and I don't seem to get along well (ex. Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune), and there's something else combined with the grapefruit here--maybe litchi?--that produces a sour, spoiled fruit opening to Aura. Which is a pity, because the best thing about all the Jacomo scents I have tried is the dry-down, and Aura has a gorgeous heart and base if you can wait for it. As with Paradox for Her (the blue one), it appears the perfumer took the best of Jacomo's discontinued Anthracite and built a variation on the theme. The fruits burn away in 15 minutes, thank goodness. Aura's spicy floral heart on its warm base stays close to the skin but has lasted 8+ hours now, with no signs of stopping. Since I already have Anthracite in my collection, and the dry-downs are similar, I probably won't purchase a full bottle of this one. I do recommend sampling first, in case those sour fruits will be a deal-breaker for you.

Jacomo Aura. What can I say? It's bright and zingy but it needs time to settle down, as it opens strongly with grapefruit and this odd synthetic note that smells a bit like toilet cleaner but thankfully it doesn't last. 10 mins in, you get the most beautiful but muted floral drydown Freesia, Mimosa, Heliotrope and Musk which I'm not that keen on but it's bearable for a fragrance. The Sandlewood is there too and it makes for a nice, cosy, almost skin like base in tandem with the Musk. I would say most definitely that this is a scent that you wear to the office or on errands. As it's cheap and inoffensive. It's a celebration of Spring and Summer and I respray it several times a day and don't feel guilty doing so, as it's a mood lifter and gives good vibes but you must like grapefruit to appreciate it x

The grapefruit peel is very dominant which makes it sour and not fresh or citrus...the flowers give a slightly powdery base, but i would rather call it dusty than powdery. Yeah...I think sour & dusty is what I think of this perfume with a hint of soapiness This reminds me of the 80's interpretation of "sunshine" scent, including the design. The bottle is nice and modern (more modern than the scent itself) Edit: by the end of the day ( which means it is lasting) it even gets a bit ozonic

A more powdery take on byblos Happy Hour. Unisex, dry florals with definite citrus orchard vibes. Layered with Prism Vanilla Fields it becomes very grapefruity. This one is fun to layer with.

nice, light, summery; basically a powdery blend of citrus and indistinct florals; pretty but basically not exceptional and indistinct; you can't really pick out notes; just a blend; not strong, very soft, but for the price it is a nice light fragrance; I would rate the notes as mainly heliotrope for the powder, citrus that is not tart so more like a light orange than a zingy grapefruit, a little peony and freesia, and some white musk

Unfortunately or fortunately, think it the later, my bottle was broken in transit. I received a cardboard box drenched in this potent smell which was disturbing, this was not pleasant for me. I think my nostrils were rather offended and threatened to vacate my face..lol I was refunded and thank goodness I did not get a replacement. My curiosity was sufficed and with notes of sour fruits, broken down flowers and a pungency not to my liking at all, alas another one bites the dust.

It was a blind buy, because of the mimosa... It's not my fav perfume, but, I will keep it and sniff it now and than. Edit desc-18: I've just sold it.

I didn't like this perfume. To me, it smells like a cat pee (maybe because of synthesis of grapefruit and honeysuckle. very disappointing :(

My husband worked on an orchard in Loomis, CA and this fragrance smells SO MUCH like the orchard in the summertime! When Aura is worn, one can imagine lazy, golden afternoons spent reading literature underneath a bower of vines. The hum of busy bumblebees and the whisper of the the wind through the valley oak trees lulls you into a peaceful snooze; you let your book slide off of your softly breathing chest and you turn to snuggle deeper into your tartan picnic blanket, catching the scent of a nearby citrus grove... Aura is a grapefruit scent initially, but instead of smelling juicy and sweet (like the lip-smacking Cartier Zeste de Soleil) it smells like the potent scent of sun-warmed fruit hanging from the tree. The florals smell "California" and soothing: Freesia is fresh and mimosa is chalky-sweet, while honeysuckle adds the "ray of sunshine" scent it's know for without being too honeyed or overbearing. The musk here feels like warm skin. Aura continues on with the tranquil florals and general "sun warmed" orchard feeling into the drydown, and it melds well with my natural body smell. While Aura doesn't smell sweet, it is definitely feminine. This fragrance feels like it was made in the 1970's and I can't wait to wear it on my next hike, or traipsing through a park. Beautiful.

If you look at my "usual" type of perfumes, I would never have bought this for myself. But I was browsing at the famous perfume store run by Monsieur Andre in San Francisco when he suggested this for me. Monsieur has a very strong and maybe old-fashioned sense of how perfume should be structured. He dislikes talking about the notes in the perfumes because we all have so many preconceptions - that we hate this, love that - and he believes you need to give a composition a fair trial. So after much hemming and hawing, I sampled this. My husband loved it from the first, even tho' I would have said the litchi & grapefruit start with a bit of a struggle with each other. But after the alcohol wears off, the scent begins to evolve in many different ways. I don't agree that the fruits leave quickly, but they evolve. The notes really do change every 30 minutes or so until the real dry-down. And I know that many modern taste just rebel at heliotrope. To like this scent you have to have an open mind, and tolerate both change and tension. The biggest drawback I think is the awkward shape of the bottle, which makes it hard to hold and spray.

This was a blind buy for me, I think it was £7. First sniff it seemed incredibly strong and I wasn't overly enamoured as it seemed maybe a little mature and overpowering. I gave a spray to some curtains we used to have and as the day went on it really grew on me. It's predominantly a very strong but almost creamy honeysuckle. I don't really own anything else like it. Someone else mentioned the drydown which is worth the wait. Give this one a chance, especially if you can pick it up as cheaply as I did. It's unusual and I do like the bottle being so different too.

Ultra underrated. This is such fantastic perfumery. The quality of the ingredients may not be up there, but the way it's orchestrated is truly stunning especially at it's price point. Niche level perfumery. The dry-down is to die for. Wonderful longevity and performance. Probably one of the best powdery citrus scents out there. Unisex imo, maybe leans slightly feminine. Perfect for hot weather (but not super hot weather because of the powder and musk). If you don't mind unique and challenging fragrances, blind buy it now. Go.

The fragrance copy with description of notes on this fragrance as a floral fruity fragrance is a huge lie! I ordered a bottle of this initially for myself expecting to get a feminine floral fruity scent, but no! This is a mens/unisex fresh out of the shower, citrus soapy & barber shop lather freshie scent, pure & simple! I gifted it to my DH who likes it a lot & it does smell great on him. But make no mistake; this scent is definitely different than what it is described & sold to be as.

I really like Aura & it has moderately steady presence for 6+ Hours. It smells linear throughout of a tropical fruit & something plasticy; almost incense like at the end. It wears well in summer heat, keeps smelling fresh, pretty & distinctive. But...I hate the Acrylic Casing that is attached to the collar of the bottle & makes it so difficult to hold & spray.

Powdery, spring floral, not too sweet, loving the mimosa and heliotrope, which are very realistic - impressed with jacomo! Not getting much citrus (although, it is a sample..) there is a subtle chemical aspect to this, but only just in the beginning. Overall a lovely fresh spring scent.

An artistic interpretation of Mimosa flower contaminated with an abstract heliotrope. Dusty, bittersweet, dry, unique. Matches perfectly the Blade Runner universe.

I’m surprised that this smells as good as it does.. last 8 hours on my skin .
