Jacomo de Jacomo Deep Blue

Jacomo Deep Blue has nothing to do with Davidoff Cool Water Deep. Let's accomplish this fact first. I was looking for something in the vein of Cool Water Deep, which was a subtle, minimal millennial musky aquatic and blind bought this few years ago. Votes are way off in that sense. Jacomo Deep Blue has quite some to do with Davidoff Cool Water though. The Dihydromyrcenol (lime - lavender) x ionones (violet) x Allyl Amyl Glycolate (pineapple, fruity) top combo recalls Cool Water for sure, though without the Cool Water's mint. But Jacomo takes it a step further...While the mint is nowhere to be found, the cucumber (assuming it's the cucumber aldehyde) is amped up to support the very first opening seconds, as well as the violet dominance, which offers a very solid purple punch in the opening till all the way to drydown. The leather is also clearly recognizable in few seconds, and I can even suggest the ingredient, most probably IBQ (isobutyl quinoline a.k.a with tradename Pyralone by Givaudan), Tom Ford Ombre Leather features it heavily, here it's used in lesser amounts that I appreciate more. IBQ is a sharp leather ingredient with earthy, herbal, vetiver facets. As you go to the drydown territory, which is around 2 hours on my skin, the scent morphs into somewhat A&F Fierce style (DHM, Iso E Super, musks). No surprise, since A&F Fierce was a success to due the genius modernization of Cool Water backbone anyway. Here in Jacomo Blue one can smell different touches but also similarities. The white musks providing a very soft blanket, one can also assume heavy dose of Iso E Super, perhaps some woody musk of Cashmeran, but the winning unique touch for me is the IBQ providing a really interesting leathery-mossy-sour contrast. So the overall transformation to my nose is not pleasant, especially for the price point. It's like a journey from late 80's/90's to 00's. The pitfall? Since it reminds of facets from 2 infinitely cloned legends that are Cool Water and Fierce, this will not be interesting for most, unless you pay attention to details.

I agree with the comment that this smells like a sweeter rendition of Cool Water by Davidoff. Furthermore, I will add that the sweetness gives this fragrance a feminine quality that I don't really like. Yes, the fragrance its self smells great, but I'm not yet sure its something I want others to smell on me. The only thing that saves this fragrance somewhat is the cedar and pepper which combine to add some subtle form of masculinity to this scent. I will also say that the sillage is quite excellent, so people will notice it. Edit(5/30/2011): I have a different perspective on this having worn it from a spray bottle versus a small sample vial. There are still subtle similarities with Cool Water but where CW is dominated by freesia and other florals, this is dominated by the lavender and violet. In fact, I think the main accord I perceive is 90% violets with the rest of the notes appearing as the supporting cast. I know many people don't like violet in large quantities, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, this is not too exotic or special but it does smell very fresh and clean. Furthermore, its does extraordinary well in the heat since it doesn't rely on citrus notes - meaning it will last hours in the summer. Check it out but don't expect anything revolutionary. 7/10

I'm surprised no one has done a recent summer review for this one, seeing as it IS a daytime summer frag. Anyway, I Picked this up a few weeks ago, along with Sexual Sugar daddy, and ended up wearing it immediately after to a baseball game. It smelled good then, but i didn't love it(i'm going to blame the extreme humidity that day). Now, a few weeks later i tried it again, and this time it worked VERY well, Nice and Strong, but not overpowering, the projection isn't fabulous but as soon as someone walks close to you they take a quick 360. it LASTS and i mean it. I sprayed about 4 sprays(neck and chest) at Noon today, its now almost 10:30pm and i still smell it on my skin, i could smell it from my nose(without trying too hard) until almost 7, so definitely great there. The initial spray is very strong and that's probably what puts most people off at first BUT give it some time, It gets nice a sweet, Only a few fragrances can make we want to smell myself constantly and this is one of them Overall 8.5/10 from me, only loses a bit in the projection and initial "super" strength. A great cheap daily fragrance for the summer.

A terrible summer fragrance :( I have it for years now but it won't be used up ever. It's a fresh scent but fresh like a toilet cleaner or air fresher. Completely disappointing! Thumbs dooown! :P

This is a typical masculine fresh cologne, too masculine for my book of geneder-bender fragrances and so unlike the Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge. I was tempted by the suggestion of some sweet feminine accords, but unfortunately there are none in this EDT. Citrusy, peppery, cool, and indeed making you feel as if immersed in a cool and deep water. The pepper and coriander blend interestingly, is there a touch or caraway as well? The name "Deep Blue" is well matched. Sillage is worse than for JdJ Rouge but as a summer inoffensive fragrance it is not bad. And the lasting power is amazing - at the end of the day you will still smell it strong. Test before you buy, though.

I'm the type that tends to get fragrances on a whim sometimes, just to try something I wouldn't normally and... this was one of the ones I got/ordered. Didn't mind since the price isn't much for a big bottle. I sprayed this into my forearm, and, honestly, I can't get myself to like this. While it goes along as some have said before me ( Blueness, coolness, etc. ) it just smells cheap. Like a cheap fragrance that tries to smell good, but smells cheap along the way...and cloying ( which Cool Water is similar in that way, but Cool Water I can deal with ) I'm going to give this away to someone who will likely appreciate it more than I could.

A rarity available! Fresh, blue water scent! With great power and high quality. The starting effect is a Cool Water, but soon spicy chords enter in the unique direction of the spell. Spicy and energetic scent at cool water ...... Personally, I'm a fan of the jacomo brand and I'm not disappointed either now! A modern fragrance from the 21st Century, which goes back to the Cool Water atmosphere of the 90's, but on a spice bed that will make the ending! I'm glad to be available and worthy of the Jacomo fragrances!

In my opinion, the name of perfume is really appropriate, you feel a deep cooling scent in this fragrance, because almost all the notes of this fragrance have a cool atmosphere. also I feel floral-spicy scent in it which I love it. Eventually, the fragrance is good and worthy.

Seriously this is a sleeping giant! Yes its cheap and yes its called deep blue BUT is does a detour which will probably amaze you. Instaed of evaporating after a couple of hours it transforms itself from fresh aqua marine to to a spicy woody fragrance. This is actually a warm dry woody chypre that cons you into thinking its a fresh fragrance. Lasts all day good for hot weather and cool nights. The trick with Cheapos like this, is to keep an open mind but do not compare them to Creed etc.

This opens like weird pickled relish. I never smelled anything pickle in Santal 33, but man oh man do I smell pickle juice here. Then it dries down to a very synthetic, boring, violet-heavy take on the Green Irish Tweed thing. Just a poor quality clone, even worse than Armaf

smells very fresh and clean and lasts a long time. Wore it and waitress asked who smelled good...When she was 3 feet away...I dont like quatics as they dont last on me at all and are rather boring. This is more interesting and lively to me and a decent fresh scent.

New fragrance to my store. The citrus is prominent but not too tangy considering how much of it there is in the top note. As it settles the cedar and the pepper really shine, a lovely woody chypre fragrance with a citrus twist for summer.

2nd wear and I don't like it again. I can say Deep Blue is quite unusual and has cream and spice notes, and evokes Indian cold lassi. I'll try it a few mores times because it is not something my nose has been trained to expect.
